37:30: @Sam your comments remind of the ideas from early in the book that just having a strategy, let alone a good one, confers some level of competitive advantage by virtue of most companies lack ANY strategy whatsoever. I agree that it’s easy to understand that you might need a strategy, but it’s much harder to do the actual work to come up with a good one and implement it.
·1 like·@David yes, it does sound quite simple but you can get so lost in the chaos of things that being truly strategic gets a little pushed to the side. Definitely one of those things you realise as you get older (like Santa not existing), most companies/political parties that you think of as organised and knowing what they are doing are lost in reactive short term thinking without any coherent idea of where they are actually going
