Encore Episode 607 - Establish Trust Before Training

So, I'm taking a master class from Brandon McMillan on Training Mind Your Puppy Winnie and one of the basic foundations to his training method is trust.

Before you train, establish, trust.

Brandon's simple but pivotal technique got me thinking about how to apply it in business settings.

Usually in a business you onboard new employees right away with training.

There's little to no time to typically establish trust so the training must blindly trust the boss or manager in the process in order to find success.

But what if we could infuse some trust into the process before hitting the start button on training?

The pitch challenge today, take a cue from Emmy Award Winning, Animal Behaviorist and Trainer Brandon McMillan,

who recommends establishing trust with your pup before training begins by being calm, patient, understanding, consistent, reassuring and friendly.

These six behavioral approaches can also be effective in onboarding and you employ or training an older team member on something new.

Brandon is not a fan of the dominant technique in dog training, basically using the alpha dog approach, a philosophy of fallen line and respect my orders.

And I can concur that this fear base training also does not work well with people either.

Instead, and still trust by being calm, patient, understanding, consistent, reassuring and above all friendly.

Then observe how much more quickly and confidently your team will respond to your masterful training.
