Maybe I caught some off episodes but I was really disappointed by the content. The titles made it sound like helpful information but was actually just advertising for her business.

Caroline is the absolute Best
I am so thankful to have found Caroline and her podcast and all that she has to share and offer. This is the first time I’ve heard someone literally share my life in their own story and the very first time I ever felt heard, seen, understood, validated, and truly believed I was safe and Not Crazy. So grateful for this show and Caroline and her Team. Life changing 💕💕💕💕💕

Ample 1-Star ratings here… why?
This podcast used to be awesome! Ms. Strawson started out as a humble survivor who genuinely wanted to educate, support, and heal others suffering from Narcissistic abuse. And she absolutely did that; it was wonderful. Yet, things have changed for two reasons… (1) Ms. Strawson became a salesperson through and through. Her emails now are identical to a late night infomercial (like “sign up in the next hour for a $3k course and I’ll give you thousands of dollars of free stuff, but you have to PAY NOW” etc etc). And (2) I began to explore other podcasts on the same subject and realized that there are simply way more qualified, humble and consistent hosts out there. Firstly - Ms. Strawson only ever talks about her ex-husband, who definitely is a narcissist. She doesn’t share about other narcissistic relationships throughout her life, which as most all of you know is quite common for us HSPs. But that’s not what bothers me… it’s the fact that she always brings it back to her abuse, with the same stories over and over. Like she can’t relate in any way unless it happened with her ex. *If she has a special guest on rare occasion, an expert, who shares their experiences on the show, she will always interject with her personal experience rather than staying focused on theirs. If she is educating listeners to textbook concepts of narcissism, she always stops to talk about the things her husband did. There’s a lack of being able to give examples outside of her own experience and an inability to speak and think at 60,000 feet, from a high level. It always circles back to her one relationship experience. *******Lastly and most importantly - her podcast and business have evolved this year to a place that is highly triggering to me. It feels like she is preying on the vulnerable in order to make money. She educates people on all things trauma and knows that most of the listeners are struggling with trauma. Step 1, that draws us in. Then, she will constantly try to sell you on a very expensive program. And not just an offering or mention, no - she uses sales tactics that are meant to get someone to sign up immediately, versus taking time to seriously consider the investment. That doesn’t feel right when people are following her because they are in a desperate situation, or traumatized, or even have survived and are on the other side. By definition- she’s taking advantage of a vulnerable population. Not just because she’s selling services, no - it’s the way she goes about selling that feels manipulative. As mentioned above, she used to be a humble women that just wanted to help people. Now, she appears like a desperate entrepreneur that isn’t being mindful of how manipulative and triggering her sales pitch style can be. You’re better off following other podcasts hosts, because not a single one that I mention below are going to blast your inbox or radio with infomercial tactics that pressure you to pay immediately or else lose out on thousands of dollars of services, literally. On top of that, other podcasts and leaders in this field will provide you with a variety of stories, from their personal lives and others, include WAY more guests with expertise, and these folks don’t always turn it around to themselves and their relationship. I’m taking the time to write this review in order to help someone who is desperate for help like I am but doesn’t want to feel triggered and taken advantage of. Narcissism recovery, navigating narcissism, waking up to narcissism, the covert narcissist podcast.

Narcissist
The episode talks about what swings a person codependent or narcissist do you think popularity could be a factor? In school the codependent could have been the loaner outsider and narcissist was in the “popular sports crowd” ???

Knowing is half the battle
A must listen if you think you’re going crazy or may be the victim of narcissistic abuse. I wish I’d have found this podcast years and years ago. I’ve thought a lot of these things, taken the blame, worked for years begging for my husband to plug into our marriage. He was a big drinker, addicted to video games, compulsive liar, manipulative, just learned addicted to online cyber sexual relationships and online affairs (I’m told not physical) but they lasted for years. So thankful I found this podcast to aid in my healing. 15 years of being married to a man I’m not sure I even knew. The detachment and emotional abuse started about 4 years into our marriage and I thought it was the normal “ the honeymoon phase ending” and needing to work on making it work which I wanted to do and did and he didn’t and got a contempt towards me.

Vague and repetitive.
I tried. I listened to several episodes that had promising titles that I really hoped to learn from but the vagueness and lack of details was maddening. Additionally, for “clarity”, our host will just repeat her vague explanation instead of defining and giving examples. The topics looked so promising. Very disappointed.

Talk Therapy is Good but...
This podcast has educated me on myself and the people in my life in ways that years of counseling couldn't. My counselor was a wonderful person and helped me understand trauma, but not in so much depth as Caroline. Thank you Caroline for sharing your wisdom on this particular topic. I never knew anything about narcissistic trauma and that I had been victimized by it almost my entire life. You're amazing, thank you, thank you.

I have been really struggling. I know I live with a narcissist. I’ve been trying to make this relationship better. It’s just so hard and often times when I find myself trying, it somehow always gets slapped in my face. It’s like what tried to do was pointless. I feel guilty for even starting up the conversation. I don’t have social media, but I would love to speak with you personally Caroline. Listening to you helps me feel less guilty.

74 when your family and friends tell you to ignore the narcissist
I am slowly cutting of contact with my narcissist and this is a perfect explanation of what I am going through. I felt like a failure when I would give in and respond back to my narcissist and or spend some time with him. Everything I have been researching says to go no contact and my friends tell me to go no contact. I can’t wait to get to that point in my life but this is such a validating podcast for that time where we are “weening” ourselves off of the abuse. Thank you for this.

Wow
Glad you talked about sex and lack of intimacy because for the past couple years I have no desire and thought something was physically wrong with me but it makes so much sense. Me personally…. it’s the tantrums, name calling and criticizing every morning following intimacy that made me close off more and more! He also says things like “you can’t tell me no” 😳 six years living like this and I’m hoping not to waste much more of my time and energy.

Wowwow!!!!!
I do feel like she was referring to me all the time this podcast is something everyone and even someone not going through such experience should listen. This is because you never know what you really are going through and even if you were told you would be in denial that you can make the relationship work, I am struggling with a narcissistic relationship and I have come to the point where I have decided not to be a victim anymore but a victor. Self positive affirmations are key to this process.

Not just for women
I didn’t like that the podcast description is to help “women” as narcissists aren’t just exclusively men. But this is spot on about how narcs are, spotting them and trying to recover from the abuse. Wish I knew these things before but I was so addicted to this person as they created this perfect persona to be exactly what I needed and then I had to learn the hard way as I scratched my head about certain behaviors. Thank god for resources like this to help us recover!

This podcast has done so much for me and my healing. I am so glad I found this. This is changing my life. Thank you so so much. I will be reading your free book this weekend. What a relief this has brought me. It is much more helpful than my therapist, even though she is great. I use my sessions to talk but this allows me to listen and understand from someone who experienced similar situations.

Episode 037
Wow... I’m listening to this Podcast and I am in utter amazement at the information I am receiving. I lasted 6 years in a marriage to a narcissist and to this day, I am amazed at how I escaped. He had me almost to the point of convincing me I was mentally ill and even bought handguns and made reference that “ I know you just want to kill yourself”... if not for my sister finally making phone contact with me that day and screaming at me to leave or I’d be dead soon- I don’t think I’d be here to write these words today. I ran when I could with nothing more than 2 suitcases and left all my belongings behind- which mean nothing to me today as I thought they meant to me while I was with him. He filed for a divorce 3 days after I left him and never tried to make the marriage work ( which is the ultimate blessing in disguise- but at the time, I loved him and didn’t get it). I believe the pain I went thru is what folks call “ survival mode” and I wouldn’t wish this mental anguish on my worst enemy. If you are out there, feeling alone, I beg you to know you are a beautiful soul who can make it without that horrible human in your life! Sure, I’m 55, live at my childhood home with Mom- found a job that stresses me... but I no longer walk on eggshells or fear honestly for my life- in fact, life is pretty awesome these days!!! Just had to share- thank you 🙏

Unnerved
Caroline is SO kind, loving, and gentle in how she explains everything. That said, I’m fresh out of an 8-month NPD relationship and as I listen to her describe what these relationships look like, I genuinely feel so understood, it’s unnerving to me. Genuinely unnerving. Like so many others, it feels like she’s describing my ex SO specifically, I feel sick. I definitely think this is going to be a podcast I continually return to while I work through how to regain my life. Really wonderful, informative, and cathartic to hear.

I’ve been out of a narcissistic relationship for 8 months and only started processing 2 months ago and I’ve really been blaming me and suppressing so much. I have been in therapy honestly my adult life for eating disorder and anxiety and I know I am a narc magnet but I loved him so much and he destroyed me, this podcast had helped me so much along with life coaching, mediation, my regular therapy, and a lot of other practices. I’m still sad a lot but I’m hoping if I keep healing I can be ok.

Love this podcast
I have found Caroline to be so helpful and the fact that she herself has been through the same thing as the rest of us causes her to feel and be more trustworthy and relatable to me. I have only listened to a couple episodes but I have already benefited so much, I have felt so validated, and I feel like I now know which direction to take with my healing. The only negative thing I have to say is that I wish the sound quality was a little better, but regardless I’m still going to listen.

The Real Deal
Caroline is the real deal. Many therapists think they understand trauma bonding and CPTSD, but Caroline has had it. This gives her the ability to come to her classes and audience with a compassionate and understanding heart that only a fellow victim could have. Friends and family have no clue what it is like to try to leave a narcissist. They have no idea how hard it is to stay away. Caroline gives us the tools to show them the science behind the hell we lived. Thank you Caroline, you have truly become a super hero!

Validating
“I believe you.” When you have been in a relationship with a covert narcissist, you desperately need to hear those words. It’s so confusing that you question your own perception. Thank you for making this topic one of the first podcast because dealing with a covert (covered up) narcissist truly keeps you trapped in trying to understand and reason with someone, whom you can’t use those concepts with in first place. It’s also confusing to family and friends, who may unknowingly invalidate your suspicions because it’s not as easy to detect fir those outside the relationship. This is a unique journey. Love yourself. Breathe. Keep learning and keep going. Love this podcast and your other work ❤️

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! It’s been 6 years now since we were able to get my abusive and narcissistic father out of my moms house. Life saver!
I found Caroline’s YouTube channel during the hardest time of my life. And it literally opened my eyes. I couldn’t find answers to so many questions, I felt lost, broken, devastated and that everything was my fault. I couldn’t control my own actions and words. I was finding myself lying on the floor and crying.. asking my ex to take me back. My family couldn’t recognize their bright strong and smart daughter. All my self confidence was gone. I didn’t feel like I exist anymore. Caroline gave me a deep knowledge what is narcissistic abuse, gaslighting and PTSD. And I started my healing journey with the most important thing: IT WASN’T MY FAULT! This podcast is one more tool I can use before going to bed or while taking a stroll. Every time you feel down or giving up, that your journey is too long and too much to take.. Caroline’s voice is right here to calm you down and to let you know that you’re capable to overcome everything! How powerful and strong you are! Thank you Caroline for taking care of us and to find more ways to educate and heal our broken minds and hearts!

- Trauma Bonding & The Addiction To A NarcissistIn this episode, I discuss trauma bonding and what it is. Trauma bonding can be difficult to break, and many people do not understand what a trauma bond is. I talk about how I found myself in a relationship with a narcissist and how I would say things to myself like "is there something wrong with me?" I was a people pleaser and a "good person" who thought I needed everyone else to show me my worth. We end up attracting people like narcissists when we place our worth in someone's hands and we may feel good at some stages in the relationship, but eventually, things start to feel heavy. What you will learn in this episode: Why you may find that you can’t attract anyone BUT narcissists What trauma bonding is and why you must solve it How I healed myself from the narcissist addiction Now if you’re reading this before Thursday, the 23rd of March, 2023, you’ll have time to join my FREE Masterclass called Breaking The Trauma Bond To A Narcissist. I'm going to be showing you all about what trauma bonding is. From what is a trauma bond, what happens in your brain and your body when we are trauma bonded to a narcissist, to of course the question we all want answered, how do you break it? - Generational Trauma & Narcissistic AbuseToday I’m going to explore the concept of generational trauma and how it can affect your response to traumatic events. I’ll explain the difference between intergenerational trauma and transgenerational trauma, and how the former refers to the projection of trauma from past generations onto the present, while the latter is the literal passing down of trauma at a cellular level. I also discuss my work with Somatic Experiencing and Internal Family Systems and how these tools can look at the experience of the body whilst we are going through life, and allow us to redefine our experience of what has happened in our life, as we can never change what has happened to us in the past, but what we can do is change our experience of it. What you will learn in this episode: How generational trauma impacts us in the present Why healing yourself will help the next generation What we can learn from Somatic Experiencing and Internal Family Systems Methods to approaching your trauma and redefining it Generational trauma has a huge impact on your body's response to current trauma and so I’ll explain the different trauma responses that you may experience, such as fight, flight, freeze, and fawn, and how each one of these responses may come up depending on how generational trauma has impacted you. It’s so important to recognize the body's natural response to danger and trauma and how it can affect your ability to cope with abusive relationships, so I hope this episode helps you in your current situation and also helps you prepare for how you can handle trauma in the future. - Covert Narcissism 101In today's episode, I want to bring your attention to a particularly perilous type of narcissist known as the covert narcissist. Typically, we associate narcissism with individuals who are extremely extroverted and crave attention, often commanding the room's focus. However, it's crucial to note that not all extroverted people are narcissistic - this is far from the truth. The issue with covert narcissists is that they operate under the radar, making them much more difficult to detect until it's too late and you've become entangled with them. Once the relationship is established, the narcissistic abuse begins. In this episode, I'll be examining the ways in which you can spot a covert narcissist, their tactics for achieving their goals, and how to steer clear of them. What you will learn in this episode: The difference between a narcissist and a cover narcissist How to spot a covert narcissist Why a covert narcissist can be extremely dangerous Knowing the various ways in which a covert narcissist behaves can help you identify them before it's too late. One of the tell-tale signs is their tendency to play the victim, refusing to take responsibility and instead blaming external factors for their situation. This behaviour is a major red flag in the early stages of a relationship with a covert narcissist. Another tactic they employ is making you feel guilty, often through expert manipulation techniques like gaslighting. They may convince you that you're solely responsible for the relationship's problems, leading you to believe that you're the one at fault. To illustrate these behaviours in real-world scenarios, I'll be sharing my own experiences with my covert narcissistic ex-husband and the warning signs I missed, as well as offering advice on how to avoid making similar mistakes. - Valentines Day Tactics By A NarcissistSo today is Valentine's Day, and unfortunately, this can be a difficult day for those who have suffered from narcissistic abuse. While this day is meant to celebrate love, a narcissist can use it as a tool to hurt and manipulate. In this episode, I'll share strategies to help you manage the emotions you may experience on valentines day, advice on healing post-narcissistic trauma, and ways to love yourself on this special day. Also, you may have noticed a slight change in the podcast title. I have decided to include the word "abuse" in the title of the podcast again since it cannot be changed that we have suffered abuse. However, we can work on healing from the trauma caused by the abuse. By acknowledging that we have been abused and not shying away from that word, we can make progress in our trauma recovery. What you will learn in this episode: The strategies a narcissist may employ to manipulate or control you on Valentine's Day. How to protect yourself on Valentine's Day and resist narcissistic abuse What you can do to love yourself and practice self-care On these special days of the year, such as valentines day, the narcissist can disappear, and this happened to me. I’ll share my story of how my partner disappeared before we were supposed to go on an exciting camping trip with my children. I’ll discuss how my ex used this opportunity to ruin a holiday to exert control over me and my children, and how you can avoid the same thing happening to you. On Valentine’s day especially, believing that you are lovable can be difficult, but it is important to remember how special and unique you are. So today I want you to practice self-care and do something that makes you feel good. Focus on the positive aspects of yourself, and show yourself some kindness. Remind yourself that you are worthy of love and that you deserve to be celebrated on this special day. - Chronic Pain & Narcissistic AbuseIf you're experiencing physical pain, chronic illness, or fatigue, and you've suffered from narcissistic abuse, it's possible that your trauma is the root cause of these physical symptoms. In this episode, I'll discuss the connection between abuse and physical reactions, including how even mental abuse can lead to physical pain. Many individuals view chronic illness and narcissistic abuse as separate entities, but they often go hand in hand. To fully heal from chronic illness, it's necessary to address and heal from the narcissistic abuse as well. What you will learn in this episode: How physical pain can indicate that our body is trying to protect us from trauma Why healing from narcissistic abuse can alleviate physical ailments The role cortisol plays in how we react to narcissistic abuse I have observed a strong link between narcissistic abuse and chronic illness not only in the communities I serve but also in my own family. I'll share my mother's story of being diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and her lifelong struggle with it, and how I've come to understand that her arthritis was her body's way of protecting her from the inner pain caused by childhood abuse. I'll also delve into the connection between abuse and physical ailments such as alopecia, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, and IBS, and how cortisol can contribute to the development of these conditions. - How Narcissistic Abuse Affects Getting Started In 2023At this time of year, it's common to feel discouraged if we haven't made progress on our goals. Even though we may want to take action, something within us may be holding us back. In this episode, we'll explore the internal barriers that prevent us from reaching our goals and provide strategies for overcoming them and building momentum. What you will learn in this episode: Strategies for getting unstuck and making progress What protector parts are and how to utilize these internal resources for personal growth Tools for maintaining emotional independence in the face of external influences Ten years ago, I was trapped in narcissistic abuse and felt like there was no way out. But now, I know that it's possible to have an amazing life after recovery. One of the things that helped me get on the path to recovery was learning to listen to my mind and body. We all have different parts of ourselves - some that want to stay in, others that want to go out. Some parts that make us feel disgusted with ourselves and others that love us. It's important to understand why we have these different parts of ourselves, because even the "bad" parts are there with loving intent. In this episode, I'll share how to read the "bad" parts and see how they're trying to protect you, as well as how to make sure the "good" parts are with you more often. - Does the Narcissist Call You a Narcissist?Have you ever wondered if you’re the narcissist in the relationship? If so, this episode will put an end to those thoughts. There are subtle differences between having a narcissistic personality disorder and narcissistic traits, in this episode I’ll explain the behaviours of these two types of people and what actually makes a person a narcissist. I also want to say a quick shout-out to all of you who came to my Unseen Wounds of Women event last week. You all made it such a special event for me, I’m so grateful for all of you. What you will learn in this episode: Narcissistic traits vs narcissistic personality disorder How to create an environment that will help you heal Why a narcissist will never take ownership and responsibility It isn’t uncommon for people to mirror the behaviour of a narcissist to soften the abuse, and due to this it’s sometimes hard to see which person is the narcissist at first, but with a little digging, it’s easy to see who the REAL narcissist is. I hope this episode provides you with the tools to find the right people to help you grow and how to let go of the “friends” that are keeping you stuck.
