Nice Show, Relaxed Conversational in a Different Way
Pretty great show. I love how easy everyone (nerd avengers) is coming and going as needs must. Contributions are good. Interruptions and disagreements all done with understanding and humor. I really enjoy listening to everybody on here. Mary Trump is great at corralling all the various cats to something cohesive. The one beef I have is how dismissive people are about Merrick F*ing Garland. I'm no lawyer. But I read Marcy Wheeler who follows every single thread in legal documents and writes about all of the action going on in Garland's office. Maybe you should have her on and have your people ... talk to her people?

Why Don’t People Get It?
Mary thank you for your academic analysis of your uncle and your focused understanding of his dangerous behavior. He’s a malignant narcissist who wants to be a dictator, make his own rules as he goes along. My parents and I left Cuba in 1964 as political refugees to escape a dictator! What is it that Cubans, for the most part, in Miami don’t get about wanna be dictator Trump?

So Much Yelling
I generally agree with the viewpoints that the host and guests share, but it is increasingly mostly just extremely performative outraged shouting into laptop mics by people that I can’t keep straight with the unstructured coming and going and frequent interruptions. With certain guests just raising their voices to keep anyone else from taking, or making comments off mic, and no mixing for volume or treble/bass/etc., I usually can’t make it through a whole episode.

I like the nerd shows too but don’t like the interrupting each other aspect. I love hearing Marys “take” on issues and her answers to questions that listeners have. And b/c she’s alone - there’s no interrupting. My favorite. Maybe when nerds “enter the room” - wait for a break in conversation to say hi…

It is an eye-opening record of how our country has continually confronted the fascist theories that are manifest now as threats to our very democracy! Psychoses refers to lack of reality. American Psychoses is a book that reveals how we have been dealing with an undercut of our democracy from the very beginning. There was an epitome during McCarthyism and subtle forms of it has never gone away. Now there are people embedded in our government institutions dedicated to bringing power back to Fascism in our country. This book should be read before the next elections!!!

Yes! I appreciated the panel pointing out more positively that Democrats have strengths too and not just a messaging problem. I listen to your podcast regularly and with enthusiasm. You and your guests are a healing tonic, at times funny, always insightful. Thank you for emerging into the public forum. If the presence of your uncle among us has any silver lining, it’s that it gave you your voice. Thanks. A couple books to recommend. First, a bit long, but masterful. “Music Will Have its Say,” by Solomon Moss. A character study and a journey through tragedy. Music is a symbol for grace and that spirit we all possess. It’s wonderfully written, I’d say. And also, if you’re wanting something light and playful, there’s “As It Was Told to Me,” by Grant Still. It’s a simple love story, but with a magical dimension to it. Keep up your work, no matter what. I’m not optimistic about this fall, alas. I fear this country is lost. It was built as an empire founded on slave labor and the genocide of the the Native Americans. And throughout our history there’s been a willful blindness to these facts. It will destroy us.

It's Fine, But Still Could Greatly Improve
Mary Trump's insight into her extended family could be really helpful, and useful, for a podcast like this. I've heard her talk about it on other podcasts and it's incredibly fascinating. However, she misses the opportunity to shed some light on her family with her podcast. I understand this isn't exclusively about her family, but given that so many Republicans are cow-towing to her uncle, I think giving insights into his personality would be beneficial. By and large, it's nothing more than a podcast for her to share her frustrations about the current political climate. She does tend to have really good guests, but everyone needs to work more on turning their microphones off. Too many episodes have distracting sounds of various sorts coming from the guests. This has to get cleaned up. It's unfortunate she doesn't provide much of any new insight into how to receive political news/information or how to combat Republicans. Most of her guests don't have much of a clue, sadly, either. I hope she does get better and finds more of a way to make her podcast unique. But for now, I'd suggest only listening to hear some of the guests and to check it out periodically if gets any better. Better sources would be The Bob Cesca Show, The Professional Left, Thom Hartmann, The Brad and Britt Cast, and Know Your Enemy.

Much-needed podcast in these outrageously troubled times
Mary Trump is incredibly well-informed and willing to say the quiet part out loud - that the modern GOP wants to pit blacks against whites, constantly uses Democrats’ most powerful language and neuters it by applying those same words to their own bogus fights (fights that shift the blame off themselves,) and that Democrats are much too timid in their 21st century dealings with the GOP. Mary states, with well-earned righteous indignation, that the situation leaves Democrats constantly ceding ground like some stranded polar bear on an ice cap, while meanwhile womens’ dignity and Democracy itself gets thrown under the bus. Mary’s impressive guests seem like talking heads finally liberated from the confines of liberal-leaning TV to really say what’s on their minds. It’s so refreshing to hear them admit they’re thinking what you’re thinking. The 50-year project to reshape of America in conservatives’ image, which started with Barry Goldwater, has required such significant message discipline and gaslighting because it’s morally bankrupt and policy free. Yet bland Democratic talking points make you feel like a liberal conspiracy theorist if you are aware of the ACTUAL CONSPIRACY - TO CREATE INCOME INEQUALITY, ROB WOMEN OF THEIR DIGNITY, AND NOW EVEN TO DESTROY DEMOCRACY. Mary is a kindred spirit who lets you know that righteous indignation in these times is the only sane way to feel. Mary doesn’t have a radio voice or the entertainment value we’re used to from mainstream media. Her show is thought-provoking and compelling. It makes you think. It exposes you to people doing great behind the scenes work that you never heard of. But it’s not the gentle inside jokiness of, say, Pod Save America.

I have listened to three episodes so far & find it refreshing to hear opinions other than ones that every single “left” cable “news” show each discuss over and over. She defends & gives President Biden the credit he deserves for all he has done in spite of sabatoge from Fox & GOP. AMAZINGLY…. She actually said clearly & distinctly the injustice done to average whites by pitting them against blacks since slavery. The secret goal to keep black & white from uniting - politicians & white rich men’s greatest fear. Other than Dr Christina Grier, I have never heard a word about this political plot against those of us that pay for everything in this country through our taxes & still wonder why we’re supposed to hate & fear black people. I could also go on about delusional meek democrats, elites etc which she also gets. I just know this if anyone in media figures out that they need middle of country guests/pundits- Mary Trump will. It is hysterical sometimes to listen to New Yorkers try to explain Ohioans but Mary may be the breakthrough New Yorker & reach out to midwesterners. Timely subjects and honest multi-logue
I picked up Dr. Trump's book while in Trump territory in Southern Virginia a few months ago. At the time I was a tad skeptical. Was she just a publicity hound? Nope. I adore her honesty, her lack of avoidance of the "profane" when it's appropriate. And her guests are great contributors. One of them today was one of my favorite podcasters, Bob Cesca. But I've also heard Norm Ornstein and many others whose names I don't recall at this point., Listen to it. We're in danger of losing what we were once called is a "democracy." And discussion of that possibility is something that the credible Dr. Trump and her guests discuss in valuable ways.

So often, when I listen, Mary mirrors exactly what I have screaming in my head. Love the strategizing and ideas. But, I keep saying this: Dems in Congress have the ability to steer what media covers— If only…if only they would JUST DO IT! Get out there! How do we penetrate the bubble — Dems seem to reside in? To tell them we want to see them fight harder? As we saw with the Michigan Senator — who did, and got millions of views on social media. These ARE NOT *just* “culture wars” the GOP are engaged in —- these craven, cynical politicians are literally *creating legislation* and passing *extreme laws* around them. These extreme laws are a slippery slope to fascism. The public needs to educated on what fascism actually is —-and how these extreme laws are fascist—full stop. Thanks Mary! Keep it going! We need the public to CALL THEIR REPRESENTATIVES and tell them to start talking these laws & about the extreme path the GOP is on.

I would like to ask you not to be so hard on Spotify - though I am extremely upset they allow Joe Rogen on their platform. Please know though, when you call for folks to Boycott Spotify, this only hurts the little guys, most of whom are on our side!!! Spotify is the most equitable platform for up-and-coming artists to get their much-needed Streams. Most creators depend on this to eek out a few bucks and, more importantly, the exposure that can get in a very competitive and “You gotta know someone or be wealthy to begin with” industry. When we boycott Spotify, we are not hurting Joe Rogen. We’re hurting the little guys, literally. Spotify is the only streaming platform that hosts NO-COST membership for those of us who can’t afford the subscription fee. So we hurt these folks, too. Please think about this - it’s always us little guys who get the short end of the stick.

She doesn’t sugarcoat but she does offer hope. Mary’s the real deal, & NOT a Centrist <3
Right off the bat, this is NOT a centrist podcast pretending to be “progressive” — Mary is, refreshingly, VERY progressive/leftist; not simply a liberal pundit or another conservative catering to leftists… for now (ya know, while Trump’s stolen their seat at the table). I’m honestly blown away by Mary’s poignant, thorough, articulate, and thoughtful political insight and presentation. Her guests are incredibly well informed, include prominent whistleblowers by the 5th episode, and conversations with guests flow organically & stay on topic. I wish more of Mary’s political & humanistic viewpoints were showcased when she briefly became a “media darling” for simply speaking the truth about her unfortunate Uncle, because she’s incredibly insightful, observant, compassionate, politically literate, and truly committed to bettering society. Thus far, she’s the only political commentator whose stated what should be very simple facts, without any sugar coating or minimization, about our current political climate — that seemingly every other liberal/progressive political pod/show/news outlet refuses to state with any consistency or finality. She’s voicing exactly what’s been weighing heavily on my mind for a couple years now, that no other so-called “leftist” podcast has! I hope nobody second guesses this as some centrist podcast due to her surname & 1-dimensional news coverage: she’s far more liberal/progressive/leftist than majority of Democrats in office. Mary calls out what needs to be said without being divisive whatsoever, and doesn’t wage wholesale insults at the Democratic Party. Rather, she makes rational criticisms of the other institutional bodies that are compounding the current crisis in which we currently find ourselves, and along with her guests, discusses solutions any individual can utilize. More specifically, she & her guests, when relevant, breakdown the part the Dems have played too, whether by miscalculating/minimizing very serious threats to their constituency, and democracy itself; or by not acting quickly or aggressively enough on urgent legislation or criminal investigations, domestic threats, etc). Such a breath of fresh air as someone who listens to The New Abnormal, Fever Dreams, The Takeaway, Kremlin File, QAnon Anonymous, and various Indy Media leftist podcasts (Popular Front, Enemies of the People, Eat The Rich, SubMedia, B(A)D News, etc); that covers the current domestic situation with the seriousness it deserves — but without making a joke out of it or demoralizing the listener into feeling powerless. I absolutely love my Indy Media pods, but they’re more focused on geopolitics & bigger picture issues & history, so it’s nice to have a mainstream political pod that covers current events, what we can do now within the current system, and deep dives into pretty astounding “insider” knowledge about who the right wing populists really are, what they’re about, and the strategies they’re employing; that never get media coverage. I SO appreciate my time not being wasted eye rolling to mainstream podcasters making excuses for, or prefacing any mild criticism, of democratic lawmakers, or even worse, trying to cater it’s “messaging” to those mystical “non-radical conservatives” (that literally don’t exist, have never existed, and if they did, they wouldn’t listen to a liberal podcast — yet are continually pandered to on Daily Beast, Yahoo & NPR pods!), and stays on topic rather than deviating into movie or TV show discussions (like most of the mainstream political pods I named). Thus far, no CIA spooks have made any appearances either THANK GOD. (Do better Skullduggery, The New Abnormal & Kremlin File). Ugh, I just can’t when podcasters platform former-CIA analysts as-if they have ANY grounding in reality, sanity, or a leg to stand on as legitimate “experts” or authorities on domestic & foreign policy, legislation, social problems like radicalization, espionage, civil rights, or domestic extremism. Hope Apple fixes their glitch that doesn’t post entire reviews & someone can actually see this write-up I just spent way too much time writing. Great job Mary! Made my day to see she’s the real deal & not just another “enemy of Trump” capitalizing by launching a podcast. Thus far, it’s also ad-free.

She’s the only trump that I support. I’m a native New Yorker, born and raised, Mary’s branch of the family is where all the heart, soul and intelligence went. Hearing from her does help with living through her uncle’s incompetent presidential years and it’s aftermath, much easier.

Police Reform by Removing Reaganomics
It was in the 1980s that funding for mental health services was phased out all across the country. That was a mistake. The burden fell on law enforcement, which as you note, they are not trained for. Police should be returned (or "freed up") to do police work, and our support network for the people under stress, which is most of us at this time, should be rebuilt. Second point: it is understandable that DOJ/Merrick Garland needs time to build an iron-clad case against the former president for the seditious insurrection. What is NOT understandable is why DJT is still on the street, agitating, riling up his magamob, taking potshots at the process of holding him accountable. We had FOUR YEARS of obvious non-ambiguous crimes during his administration—beginning with illegal funds for his inauguration, for christ's sake—why isn't he in jail, incommunicado, waiting for his indictments to be handed down? The sooner the mob's head is cut off, the sooner the mob comes back to reality and stops promulgating alternate realities spun by their messiah. Third point: in my opinion he whole abortion debate is being incorrectly framed by pro-choice advocates. It shouldn't be about "a woman's right to choose," it should be that a blastocyst is not (yet) a human being. Affording full human rights to a dozen cells opens up so many cans of worms we cannot go down that road. What would it mean for IVF? What would it mean for miscarriages? What would it mean for buying airline tickets? The ridiculousness of such an action makes it impossible to consider.

Interesting Perspectives
Really enjoyed the first episode with Molly Jong-Fast (and subsequent episode) One interesting point raised, which I agree isn’t discussed enough is what is too big to govern- America is a big country- and it very seems like it is split down the middle- so where do you go from here? I’m not sure; but that Mary Trump is providing a space for folks to talk about this and many other issues is a really great thing. Keep up the good work!

Read her book about Trump
That book did explain a lot about how Donald Trump thinks and operates. Her professional training and belonging to the Trump family gives her a lot of insight into what is going to happen. All the democrats and respectable republicans ought to have read this book and take note. Nothing surprises me anymore when I hear/read news about Trump and his enablers. She predicted how Trump will behave during the 2020 election. I bet she will make a good president but America despite its trumpeting freedom and equality, isn’t ready to have a female leader.

This whole “Mary has a show of her own” thing is especially time saving as I will no longer have to periodically search for “Mary trump” in my podcast app to ensure that I haven’t missed any guest spot interviews featuring Mary. Mary’s rare and remarkable gift is in her ability to be in the moment- I’m not entirely sure how to explain what I mean by that beyond sayin that I feel lifted and inspired by her, even when she’s simply echoing that the world is ending and we’re toast. Real is a word that comes to mind. I’m real excited about this podcast and it’s evolution. Ps! Get the folks from strict scrutiny or slates amicus as guests! Just listened to the first episode with Molly Jong-Fast. Fabulous to hear two great female minds sorting through the issues of the day. Had no idea one out of four women in America have had abortions—but, yeah, makes perfect sense to roll back those rights to six weeks when no one realizes they’re pregnant. Thank you for taking on the big picture in this format. Nice to hear more minutes from you than quick media sound bites. Voices like yours are needed now more than ever!

You and Molly are great together. Abortion discussion is 1000% correct. If the right is so vehemently against abortion, you’d think they’d support a) making sex ed & birth control free & easily accessible b) making child care & family services a financial priority — to reflect their so-called passion for “life.” Earth-shattering hypocrisy. Fabulous podcast. If you had a segment just on GOP hypocrisy you’d have material for decades. Love your books too!

I was just thinking I wish there were a way to hear more of what Mary is thinking, having listened to her read her two amazing (insightful, critically relevant, right on) books when I noticed a notification for one of her tweets. When I went to look at the original post I noticed the blurb about the new podcast and newsletter and began listening immediately while with my dog at the park. Just finished episode 1 and she always seems to say what I’ve been thinking but don’t have the documentation to support, like she does. Wouldn’t it be cool if Mary were the next President Trump? Though at the moment we need you to keep doing what you’re doing. You’re the best!
