The guy girl true crime format was a bit hard to get to used at first. Enjoyed the story and the investigative journalism. Wish the BBC would move to 45mins for their podcasts and they would give Louis Theroux a podcast.

Excellent Reporting, Unsettling Storyline
The Lazarus Heist is an excellent series with broad based research and connections w/focus on N. Korea’s ability to affect global structures. Recently, I contracted COVID-19. During fevered sleeps, I played, re-listened to E1-E8 a couple times. Sooo good. I look forward to any & all the episodes that follow.

I came upon this amazing podcast series from another podcast talking about tue bank heist. Kept me on my toes the entire time. Great research and even greater story telling. My only question throughout the whole series is…when is the movie coming out? Thank you for this amazing work.

This is a great (more upbeat) pairing with Barbara Demick’s Nothing to Envy about life in North Korea. I love how it ropes in and gives us views into life in Sri Lanka, The Philippines, and England. Great research and storytelling. I would listen to the next things designed and hosted by these folks!

Great story about the nature of the North Korean economic strategies for creating income and getting around sanctions. Also goes into more cultural context about the relationships Koreans have with neighboring countries and how the politics have changed over the decades since the Korean War. Great reporting. Exciting and sort of cinematic in scope.

Mystery and intrigue to the 10th power
I stumbled upon this podcast while searching for something good to listen to. I was looking for something along the lines of The Dropout or Dr. Death. Being extremely familiar with the biblical reference to Lazarus, the title grab my attention and immediately I was sucked in after listening to the first three minutes. The story is so well told and laid out you actually feel like you are living the scenes they are describing. It is also heartbreaking when recognizing the sacrifices that are made by those who defect and leave their home country. Awesome podcast definitely in the top five I have ever listen to.

Please, lose the video game music
On, one of the reasons to listen to BBC is the solid production values. Once again we have a podcast with a lot of great material, (even if it should be about half the length) and they've basically ruined it with a music bed that belongs on a cheap video game. A bumper tune for a few seconds at the top of a segment is more than enough. For people with hearing handicap this is brutal.

Nice show but your theme music has 2 go
Ya’ll great show. I never have ever commented on an Apple song or podcast. This is my first ever, but I had to break this record and ask that y’all remove the theme music. It makes babies cry, it will give you a headache, one might play it on a loop perhaps if they intended to torture someone. This music is ya’ll trying too hard. Your show is intense and compelling without having to lead and end with the sound a steam engine makes when coming to a sudden halt. Again great show (cut the cacophony). Thanks!

Very informative
I love documentaries done by the BBC. They are very informative and cover all aspects of their subject matter . They use critical thinking skills, bring in top end researchers, and interview people on the front lines of the heist. They even cover daily life within North Korea, which really helped set the stage on what lead up to the heist. The BBC should do a documentary on the tic tac ufo, pentagon ufo files, and the history of UFOs in America.

Great show, terrible music
The story here is really interesting but wow the music is really grating. It’s way too loud and makes it hard to hear the actual hosts, they use like 3 times too many sound effects, and the outro music is nails on a chalkboard-y. Please just chill out with the sound effects/over the top editing and let the story speak for itself, it’s a good story!

Interesting but terrible sound effects
I love the content of this podcast but they use the most annoying sound effects. The opening and closing music is like a tornado siren screeching through my headphones. For some reason they also replay the same computer error noise regularly in the background which is insufferable. I wish I could enjoy this without the AWFUL music.

Bit of a bait & switch. Also an annoying narrator.
It seems they didn’t have enough material, or original reporting, to fill 10 episodes so it veers into a dozen different tenuously related, or entirely unrelated, story threads. Also, Jean Lee’s narration is just grating as she tries to make every sentence sound suspenseful.

Great Presenters, Jarring Music
The presenter are amazing, their voices are soothing, yet keep you wrapped up in the story. The researchers do an incredible job. But sweet baby gesu, the production staff that chose the music need to go back to the drawing board. The intros are ridiculously jarring and the exits make one jump in fright. Otherwise this is a great podcast. But can we get the music toned way, way, way down?

Creating sympathy for Kim Jong-un !
Is the point of this to paint Hollywood Californians as total idiots? It smugly does a descent job of this. A picture of vain on vain egotistical violence. A kind of iritainment. The tail wagging the dog yada yada yada and on and on so it goes. Unintelligent wealth looking at itself. “It’s not clear what this is, what it unveils or shows, only that the story lurches back and forth enough to make it suit the short-episode format. In this sense it’s an archetypal narrative podcast, one that left me feeling nothing but seasick dissatisfaction.” Quote by John Phipps.
