I wish you wouldn’t just appeal to the lowest common denominator and attack straw man arguments pertaining to your top ten programs list. The “Notre Dame is overrated” thing is way less egregious than pretending that things like resources and recruiting haven’t changed at LSU despite two .500 seasons. It bears noting that those seasons are a complete anomaly compared to the past teams and possess a uniques set of circumstances before snapping right back to winning in 2022. It’s far more nuanced an opinion than you made it seem.

Where else can you get a healthy dose of real college football content fans want from a true fan, a dose of storm chasing stories, the knowledge that Forrest Gump contained ping pong, Fleetwood Mac and football; info about the former girlfriend of the storm chaser who is now the Atlanta Hawks billionaire owners wife… enjoy it all so much like you just had a conversation with your best friend? It’s a rhetorical question - you can’t touch this (immunity)!

Awesome College Football Show!
Josh is great. He still really tries to focus on college football as a sport, and really maintains a focus on sport as a whole, as opposed to just micro-focusing on the game’s current elites. College football has always been a community-driven sport, where 60,000 people will sell out a stadium to watch two 4-3 teams play head to head on a random Saturday. Josh feels like one of the last of a dying breed, who still sees the sport for what it is, as opposed to just another season of Alabama vs. Georgia for another national title. Keep it up Josh!

Good content but it’s mainly an SEC podcast.
Josh is great and do enjoy the show. Only reason it’s not 5 stars is because 75% of the show just focuses on the SEC. He then gets upset when he’s called out about that and then proceeds to spend 10 min on Arkansas or another mid SEC team. Stopped listening to every episode since it turned into that. Now more just pick and choose the ones that aren’t all SEC for an hour. I get it though he’s a southern guy and grew up in SEC country but would rather be more honest about what this pod is about because it for sure is not a balanced podcast.

SEO-Driven. Shallow
It’s fine, Josh is entertaining, but he only talks topics that will be good for the SEO. Zero coverage of mid-low tier teams that aren’t in the SEC. A lot of “flavor of the week”-type stuff.

I consume an embarrassing amount of college football podcasts and this may be my favorite one right now. Very good insights and he keeps it from stalling out, which is hard for a one man show. SEC heavy
I really enjoy Josh’s passion for the sport and ability to do a one man show and hold interest. My main complaint is that there’s too much focus on the SEC. Not to say the SEC isn’t the best conference and the foundation of the sport but when your recap show is hyper focused on mediocre games featuring SEC teams, it’s not what I’m interested. Good games with good teams from the SEC, sure of course but a game featuring a bad Auburn team getting dragged, I tune out. I guess I can’t blame Josh, SEC fans are the most vocal and bring the most viewership/listens that can insulate from the rest of the country. Josh knows where his bread is buttered. Also seems most of his connection and sourcing around the sport is via SEC personnel. Last thing, attitude era wwf was overrated, please stop making references to them as a notion you’re a wrestling fan when you don’t both to watch the current product that is vast and good.

The College Football Podcast I've Been Wanting for Years
Josh and his team are great on each episode. They talk about a lot of the things going on in the sport (both on and off the field), but they also don't hesitate to let the fans steer the wheel about what the topics are from episode to episode. They also cover a wide variety of teams and players which keeps the show interesting and engaging.

Texas A&M will not even be a borderline top 10 class
We will end up with a smallish class (they say), 20-21 recruits, and will end up around 300 pts and be in the top 5 (think Ohio St.’s class last year). We’ll have one of the highest avg. recruit rankings… top 3 probably. Ans then get ready for our 2023 & 2024 back to back National Championship years.

Perspective
I really enjoy the show for the overall CFB perspective But that part about Texas offensive line I disagree with. You said top rated offensive line class more than once. 3 guys last year and two offensive line commits that may be decent this year. They have guys that can play in that conference but where is the depth? Too much hyperbole with a high school kid that has proved nothing started to feel like oxxseason talk. Still would like to know where you got the offensive line info. Don’t misinterpret text here as volatile. I really do enjoy the show. Nick Saban had the strong personality to take full control at Alabama. Sark doesn’t have it to do that at Texas. I’m speaking of boosters etc. he won’t last Texas isn’t doing great in the Nil era and the money is there to do so. Comparing to A&M. It’s obvious

Pate State 5 Star Recruit (Early Enrollee)
When my parents decided to up and move the family unit 9 hours up I-75 from Florida to Tennessee, I found myself torn between orange and blue or just plain orange. The weight I carried into my third grade spring semester was almost unbearable. It was the year of our Lord, 1997. The University of Florida was fresh off of it’s first National Championship under Steve Spurrier. Ironically, I found myself starting over from scratch as a professional adolescent in the Head Ball Coach’s hometown of Johnson City, Tennessee. But nobody seemed to care about the Gators in this foreign land. My first day on campus at Gray Elementary School, I quietly observed my new companions of scholastics dancing around in the most horribly orange garb to the Space Jam soundtrack. As I attempted to comprehend my newfound reality, one idea resonated in my head. I quickly decided that I must be a beacon of blue in a sea of orange. To this day, I still refuse to spend my hard earned money to sit on the East side of Ben Hill Griffin and chant ORANGE in response to the West side chanting BLUE. Growing up a Florida fan in Tennessee from ‘97 to ‘06 was no cake walk. One year we would win and nobody wanted to talk to me. Another year we would lose and everyone wanted to talk to me (in the most unwelcome way). Girlfriends never fully trusted me and friends scorned me. Fast forward 14 years to 2020 and my job plants me smack dab in the middle of bulldawg country and the home of Uga himself, Savannah, Georgia. All in all, things got off to a decent start for me in Jawjuh. Dan Mullen wheel routed himself to a win over the Dawgs and I can hold my head high walking through the picturesque squares of the Hostess City. Unfortunately, when the Gators take a W in the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party, the Hostess City let’s you know that you’ve worn out your welcome pretty quick. Bartenders see your Florida attire and you might as well forget about drinking away your sorrows when the eventual SEC runner-up Dawgs beat you in 2021 ‘cuz you ain’t gettin’ served. But despite my unfortunate geographical residential locations as a Florida fan, I have been fortunate enough to live in close proximity to some of the best college football action the country has to offer. Now that I’m in Savannah, I can get to Gainesville in roughly 3 hours. As I cruise down I-95 to jump on 301 outside of Jacksonville, I always have the Late Kick Podcast playing while dodging speed traps. The podcast gets me through my drive to work, my workouts and walks around Daffin Park with my dogs (especially during that time of year between the National Championship and Week Zero). My well weathered fanhood of the Gators in the face of adversity and my undying love of college football is ultimately what led me to Pate State. I would like to take this opportunity to officially announce my commitment to Pate State. My recruiting is now closed, please respect my decision.

Pate State Gameday Tradition
Would Pate State have our team come out of the tunnel on an actual train that drops them off at midfield? What would be the the tunnel song playing as it came out? Expansion
Dear Josh, You have never given your opinion on the sec having their own playoff. I think it would be a success....for 3-5 years. And then it would become stale. The sec needs to expand beyond the south if it truly wants to run college football. The big 10 (while not having as many brands) rules the north, just look at tv ratings. What does the future really look like?

Great show
What’s up josh I’m from Albany GA so not too far from your neck of the woods.I listen to late kick every week definitely one of my favorite podcasts. Very informative and a great listen! Would NIL not work better if they managed it as far as year of the player? Why not restrict NIL deals until after your freshman or sophomore year then you have no one complaining about using NIL to pay players In Recruiting. If you go after the sophomore year I feel like it could even help manage the transfer portal as well then you have a seasoned player who is eligible for NIL and has already potentially established himself as a player at his current school could cause them to second guess the transfer portal as a whole.

Cocky host that retreads the same opinion
I really enjoyed the show at first but it’s too much of the same opinions over and over. He has his select teams that he’s bullish on and then never digs into what he actually likes other than the obvious headliners for those teams. He disguises himself as a hardcore Cfb enthusiast but he’s just like most shows out there. He also talks about the shows format and success way too much. Too much fluff not enough hardcore Cfb talk for me

Too much Bama!
The show is very knowledgeable. Josh is smart and has a lot of good takes, but the guy can’t keep bama out of his mouth. Ie: the last episode two broad questions were asked to open the show. And the examples he gave were about Saban and Alabama. There are so many schools worth mentioning I know bama is on the top right now but that doesn’t mean that we should talk about them every single show. Just my opinion

Mailbag question
Hello Josh, just started listening a few weeks ago and I’m already a big fan of yours, so thank you. Anyways, my question for you is this: Why does everybody in the media seem to just assume that Jim Knowles moving to Ohio State will “fix” their defensive issues that have plagued them since Jeff Hadley left for Bc? If I’m not mistaken, Knowles had one of the most experienced defenses in the country the last two years, which allowed him to run some more complicated schemes that you might not be able to with a more normal roster turnover rate. Not to mention one that’s on an accelerated pace at Ohio State with all the NFL draft turnover he didn’t have to deal with at Oklahoma State. The reason I personally think Ohio State’s defenses have struggled in recent years is because of a lack of toughness in the front seven, which is not sure if Knowles will be able to address but nobody in the media seems to comment on this? What are your thoughts? Sorry for the long winded question, just wanted to fully flesh out my thoughts for you to comment on if you so desire.

Fantasy G5 Realignment
Huge fan of the Show, #FreightGreat. My question is this. If you could cherry pick the best 10-12 G5 programs in America to form a new Power 6 Conference that would perform comparably to the BIG 12 or PAC 12. Who would you move and why? And which programs would come in on merit vs potential? Hopefully that makes sense. Here is my example. San Diego State Boise State Fresno State-potential SMU Louisiana-Potential Memphis Northern Illinois Central Michigan App State Coastal Carolina East Carolina USF-potential

Love listening to Josh (and not just because he has the best first name!) I think he has the sport’s best interest in mind and I agree with how he covers the sport with no “off season.” I do have one question. This last episode you listed a bunch of schools that if they went all in on football could contend for a national championship. You brought up a lot of programs including the two in AZ. As a Utah fan myself I was a little frustrated that they were left out of your short list. I know you were not going through your whole list but I am curious if you think Utah could get to that point and if you had any thoughts on what next moves we need to take to get there!? Love the show and can’t wait to hear about all the exciting “off season” moves that will set up this next season!

Great Pod for all College football fans
Great pod for anytime of year. Pod question: Kirby has clearly done a good job at Georgia..I mean he won a National title! He’s clearly a great recruiter and great coach, but a perfect fit at Georgia. Sam Pittman stands out as a “perfect fit”. How much do you value fit to program vs recruit ability/coaching (scheme)? Also what do you view as current perfect fits…possible future fits?

Josh is the man. He needs to be the el presidente of college football. Previously, I would always listen to mainstream college football podcasts. However, Josh’s quick wit, one liners, and twister comparisons have made me make a change. I will NVER listen and trust another college football show the way I do late kick. Longevity of Football
I have a question. You along with many others have an issue with FBS playing FCS but as a “fan of college football” why is that? Those games are a money games that’s literally helps funds the athletic department not just football and lower levels, which in turn helps fund D-2 and D-3. All these school don’t have the alumni base of the power 5 schools so they actually need the help to continue to offer scholarships to all athletes. So since you want to get rid of those games how do you help those schools, or do you just care about the power 5. I enjoy the podcast we may disagree but you do your research and are informed and I appreciate that. Be blessed.

Must listen
Josh does a great job of doing his own thing and letting stories/talking points arise organically. Lots of people in this space latch on to rumors and run with them. Late kick avoids this and via their own predictive model offers great insight into upcoming games. Its refreshing as a former college player not hearing extraneous talking points that are out of touch with what really transpires in a football program. I’d highly recommend listening.

Criminally underrated (for now)
Outstanding show, by far my favorite CFB show for the podcast medium but probably my favorite on television/digital video as well. Pate is charismatic (great use of jokes, inflection, and phrases like an old color commentary radio host): he’s a great storyteller and does a good job of building an us vs them mentality and makes the listener feel like we’re part of a community. He is also very knowledgeable about the whole CFB landscape without being a homer for one team or region. There are plenty of knowledgeable and charismatic hosts, but what sets JP apart is how good he is at his job without having other cohosts. He manages to fill an hour of show entirely by himself and still keep the show engaging for the whole time. He more than deserves an anchor spot on his own show with panelists and bells and whistles but until then we’ll enjoy a really solid, well rounded show.

Disappointed “College Football Fan”
Josh, I was a big fan and still check in form time to time however, I’m grossed out but the sec biased you’ll talk Tenn, Ark st, and other mediocre teams like they’re significant. But will rarely mention ACC top contenders. Just call it a sec and friends show. Only met ones Miami after Kirk H did and your take was so wrong. Pac 12 team unless it’s job openings or Oregon.

Best CFB Show hands down
I found Late Kick in late March 2020 when scrolling though YouTube and it quickly became my favorite college football show hands down. After many years of feeling lost during the O**season, having a show to follow that updated every aspect of the sport helped me stay more dialed in and expanded my love for college football as a whole, gave me such a good feeling. Wish Josh and the whole crew all the much more success with the show and excited to continue watching and listening to all the content Late Kick pumps out!

UGA beat down
I have been listening to the show for over a year and recently noticing some pro-Bama coverage and anti-UGA sentiment. More specifically Kirby Smart anger. Why the rest of college football fans and media should keep playoff in perspective, that there is more to college football but you say now if UGA does not win Natty then this season is lost and Kirby on the hot seat. You have issues with UGA that make you biased.

This show misses Trevor & Ben dearly
The analysis and entertainment factors have taken a major, major hit since Trevor and Ben moved on to other ventures. Just shallow anecdotal stuff now from the new hosts without much else. Topical and timely pumping out the right kind of content, but just not what the show used to be, sadly.

Great Show-When he talks football
Love the football talk. Best in the business. Hate the beg, brag and blush parts about Instagram and Twitter followers. And the time wasted each episode telling us how he doesn’t have the time to cover everything today. Dude you would have more time if you didn’t waste it telling us you didn’t have time. Late Kick Extra Question
Through 3 weeks, is there a case that Oregon has the most impressive resume in the country? Unlike the JP poll, this is not a forward thinking prediction, it’s purely about what we’ve seen so far this season. The Ducks have beat a 2 really good teams in Fresno St and Ohio St without maybe the best player in the country (for 3Q vs Fresno). I understand the skepticism and people wanting to see more, but so far I think the Ducks have been very impressive. What say you?

Hypothetical scenario!
With the so called redwoods having a few red woods already having one lost, and in a true best 4 best 4 are in, Is there any way you would see 3 SEC teams in the playoffs? Example: Alabama beats Georgia In the SEC championship game to give them their first lost and it’s a close game, logically you would think both get in, but what If say Ole Miss has one close lost to Bama and beats everyone else on their schedule convincingly? Could there be 3 SEC teams in the playoffs?

Really good show, close to great
The football content of this show is some of the best out there. The problem is that the football discussion is only 70% of the show. The other 30% is split between Josh talking about what he is going to talk about later and talking about the show’s growth over the past x days/months/years. I love the show, but I use the +30 seconds a lot. Still worth it though.

I’ve been a CFB fan my whole life. I’ve listened to almost every CFB podcast out there to try to find the best. I’ve finally found it. Josh pate and the Late Kick crew are without a doubt the most knowledgeable, interesting, and topical commentators in the field. Bar none. Best CFB Podcast
I am a Spotify listener but I came over to Apple Podcasts just to leave a review for JP. This is the best CFB podcast I have listened to! To the point, knowledgeable and funny. I can’t stand when other podcasts waste time with 4-7 minutes of banter at the start of an episode or when it takes then way to long to get from the end of one segment to the beginning of another. Josh doesn’t waste any time. He gets started right away with show updates (that regular listeners have been awaiting), shameless solicitation and then he gets straight into CFB. His transitions are also quick as to not waste anyone’s time. I listen while commuting so the more info he can fit into a shorter episode, the better! Josh is so plugged about current and past events that he can almost always find a spot on analogy. And when he can’t he finds a way to teach his audience about weather trends and meteorology in the process of making a take. Josh has a tremendous vocabulary that he used to it’s full extent. I don’t want to listen to a host and think I’m listening to a 16 year old kid. I love how he can make the show almost feel academic at times with his words. It’s a nice change. Just like all podcast hosts, he throws out some jokes that don’t hit the mark (not for me at least) but that’s a small price to pay for the premium product. His episodes are full of comments and jokes that show how much he knows about CFB too. Couldn’t recommend the show more. Tell a friend and grow the Pate State University following.

How big of a challenge is A&M @ Ole Miss?
Hey Josh, I think A&M at Ole Miss could be the most intriguing game on the 2021 SEC schedule. Two starkly different offensive philosophies clash with neither having an opportunity last year to test the other out. Everyone seems to think Lane Kiffin is good for at least upset this season, so why aren’t more people circling this game as the one? It seems like everyone believes the Aggies will win fairly easily. As you can probably tell, I’m leaning more towards Ole Miss.

Pate and SEC
I enjoyed the first year of the show, but Pate has increasingly focused on only SEC a majority of the time. He can’t stop raving about how amazing and better this conference is. Apparently the listeners “drive the show” but it’s clear he is very selective in choosing the questions and topics brought up by listeners. Be better dude. We know Bama is good. Stop giving the SEC a reach around just because you’re a homer.

Great information, and it’s given out quickly!
Josh Pate has the formula down pat for what the college football junkie masses want to consume in their ears (and with their eyes also, when he’s viewed on YouTube), and he’s sticking to what works the very best. He stays up to date on all the college football world. He’s to the point, and he’s sharp too. Josh has his own opinions, and he explains all of the things that are currently happening in college football all across the country in a clear, easy to understand manner. It is extremely easy for me to see why his rise to the top of the podcast world has been so very fast. Lastly, it’s nice to see someone else from back home in Georgia making good. I am originally from Atlanta. Keep up the great work Josh!!!

Best College Football Show/Podcast Available
I’ve been a late kick watcher/listener since last football season and I’ve got to say that this show is, hands down, the best college football content I have found. No one is able to connect with the audience quite like Josh Pate does on Late Kick. The shows are put together extremely well and are always relevant to what’s happening currently in the sport. A lot of football fans think that college football ends with the national championship game, but that’s just not true. Late Kick keeps the college football action rolling throughout the year. Appreciate the hard work y’all do!

Love it!
Found this show about a month or two ago. I don’t listen to every show when they first come out but then I find myself binging them after a while. Josh has such a unique way of communicating and he entertains throughout the show. He has an interesting outlook on sports and I feel like we’re friends at a bar sharing a beer already just chopping it up about football. Keep up the good work!!

Love the Pod!
I light of all the talk of Texas/Oklahoma’s potential move to the SEC and how Texas A&M has responded do you think that other current SEC schools would react the same way if their in-state rival were making the same move? (ie; UGA/GT, Florida/Florida St. or Miami, South Carolina/Clemson) Love the pod. Listen to every show on my daily runs down here in Thomasville, Ga. Kyle Shaver

Mail-Bag Question
Josh, love the pod. I’m new to it over the last couple of weeks, but it’s already one of my top pods. Really appreciate the “God bless” at the end of the shows. I’m not sure if you take mailbag Qs from the comments section, but if you do: You recently answered a question about Kstate head coach, Chris Klieman and his NIL comments from Big 12 media days. My question, as a Kstate fan, is what does success for Klieman and Kstate look like? Kstate has been in the conversation for a national championship once in the past ten years (#1 in the BCS poll back in 2012 at 10-0). Can Kstate get back to the 10-2/ 11-1 seasons we had with Snyder, under Klieman’s command?

Best college football podcast by far.
I have listened to several other college football podcasts and this by far surpasses them all. JP has an amazing talent of keeping the topics interesting and keeping listeners informed about what’s going on around college football. Keep the SEC coverage coming, (it is the best conference) and keep the DAWGS news rolling as well.

Question for Late Kick Extra
Which historical non-conference rivalries make the sport better? And if you could start a rivalry between two teams and make them play every year, which teams would you choose? P.S. As an Alabama fan, I would want to play Notre Dame hands down. Keep up the great work!

I was recommended a video on YouTube in 2019. The video was about Josh addressing Mike Lombardi’s comments on Gus Malzahn’s offensive system at Auburn. I’m a huge Auburn fan so that piqued my interest. This was how I discovered The Late Kick. Since then, I’ve listened to every show, whether it be on YouTube or on Apple Podcasts. Quite simply the best there is
I was in Afghanistan in 2020 and started listening to the YouTube channel. Signal was lackluster so it sometimes took a day or two to download the videos but they were worth it and helped me stay connected to what I enjoy while deployed. I found the podcast channel a few months ago and haven’t missed an episode since. The thing this podcast does that I think is rare in sports commentating is that you give us a perspective that we haven’t even thought of yet. That take on Nick Saban and his next challenge I listened to about 10 times, amazing content! Boomer Sooner, What is the off-season? (Future shirt idea for the podcast) and God bless!

I love listening to the show and hearing non bias opinions on everything that is college football. I am from Nebraska but a true die hard Oregon fan. I am writing to say thank you for giving this show to us and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give your thoughts of the Pac 12. I know we seem a very weak conference which a lot of teams are lacking but between Oregon who truly has a very strong team and Coach Cristobal has our caliber constantly rising and our talent. And then USC who makes a lot of us nervous rising back up....you do have some strength. Please do the review of the conference. We would love to hear it. Thank you.

5 Star Review/Question
Hey Josh, been listening to show since about the time you came to 247 and usually play the YouTube show as background noise to fall asleep at night then listen to the podcast on my way to work or class. My question is, as a Marshall student and fan I’m curious to know your thoughts on how the possible playoff expansion could impact schools like us. For the last few years we have played for a conference championship and have been competitive with some of the other top G5 schools. You’ve talked about the expansion growing the bigger market G5 schools but do you think a smaller market G5 gets pushed back down or could Marshall, and schools like it, rise with the rest of them and what challenges do you think we’d face? The show is best and you’ve got a fan for life.

Two and We’re Through
Hey Josh, love the show, been listening since before it was a podcast. Lost my energy for CFB somewhat during the Xffseason, mostly because of the disastrous Zombie Season my teams had. But I’m getting ready for fall and catching up on the backlog. Since you asked, I’ve always had a hard time staying awake when I’m driving, and I usually switch on Late Kick halfway through my 50-minute commute as a change of pace to wake myself up. I’ve heard you rail against playoff expansion many times, (it’s one of the things that made me think “this guy gets it” when I first started listening) and every time I do, I want to mount a loudspeaker on my car and crank up the volume. But every argument I’ve heard you make against a six, eight, or twelve team playoff (value of the regular season, inevitability of expansion, “meaningless” bowl games, rewarding teams for losing, encouraging cupcake games) I think is true of a four team playoff relative to a two team… game. I agree some “deserving” teams would get (and have gotten) “left out”, but I think this is one of the things that makes the sport great. Claimed championships, controversy, and the hate they breed is part of what drives passion and makes the game great. Would Josh Pate, Czar of College Football, return to a two team field like I would, or is there something you think I’m missing about a four team playoff?

Love the show and Mailbag
Just started listening recently after you were on the On the Bench FSU Podcast and haven’t stopped. How much pressure do you think Mike Norvell is under currently? Most talking heads have the number of wins he needs to hold this current class at 6 and to say this current class could expedite the process is an understatement. How much stock do you put that Norvell hasn’t been around a championship team like Jimbo was with Saban? Love the show!

Post Game Ref Press conference
Hey Josh, Blown Calls are a part of the game but Refs are the only personal element of football not subject to having to do a post game press conference after a bad performance. Is there a reason why College football has never looked into doing these type of press conferences? I think It would give insight to what a ref saw on a questionable call and help fan bases move on from the games they were “screwed by the refs”

Great Show
Hey Josh, love the show. Just started listening recently and now i can’t wait for new episodes to hear your take on college football. Me and a good buddy of mine have debated for the past several years about what program is better off Texas or Florida. They’ve in my mind have been very similar both have had Urban Meyer assistance as HC (of course herman is gone and Sark steps in at Texas). They recruit at a high level and have both peaked at NY6 bowls and lost in the conference championship and had great success in the 2000s. And last year florida had the same amount of wins as Texas. I personally am not a believer in Dan Mullen but i’m also not sure about Sark at Texas. My question is what program do you think has a brighter future based on where they are now? PS I loved hearing about how you came up in the business. AND I COULDNT DISAGREE MORE WITH YOU ABOUT THE PLAYOFF -Dillon

There are a lot of these programs out there, but this has become one of the few that I regularly listen to. Josh is well informed, balanced in his approach and level-headed. He gets to the point, doesn’t keep harping on the same topics forever, and provides a densely-packed podcast that keeps me engaged. Some other shows I turn off because they never seem to get to the point or stay on one topic too long/often, but Josh hits it just right.

There are very few people in the business of sports media that actively break down the college game like Josh and his team do. Thoroughly enjoy the shows on my commutes to work. Do you think the evolution of the Big-12 (see Oklahoma) to a more complete team on both sides of the ball represents a precursor to how defenses outside the Big 12 (see SEC) will respond to the spread out offenses that are so in Vogue right now?

Hypothetical Question/Challenge
Pate, You’re an absolute electric factory and I Love the show. Here’s a challenge for you. What’s the best team you could make with players just on SEC teams, the kick, you can only take a maximum of 1 from Offense and 1 from Defense from each school. 11 guys playing in their natural position on each side, and you have to use 2 spots for a Punter and Kicker. Example: Bama: Offense - Evan Neal Defense: Will Anderson UGA: Offense - Arik Gilbert D - Nakobe Dean

Does Culture Travel?
Hey JP, love the show. It’s the best CFB content out! I played at UL Monroe from 2012 to 2016 and was on part of the most successful team since the jump to FBS. Since then the cultures been off and the lack of success in multiple categories reflects it. I went down and checked out the camp we had on 6/13 and the culture is much friendlier, more open and inviting, and generally family oriented. My one year old son ran around the facility and they treated him awesome. I learned how much of that staff (and more importantly off field support staff) has ties to Clemson and it’s tough not to wonder if that culture and success that they have will follow? Can that infrastructure and success travel down to Monroe? #TalonsOut

Great Podcast
Great podcast, I love how to the point Josh is. Keep getting after it! I’m fine with the 4-team playoff, but I am a supporter of expansion just because of the number of games and matchups you could see. How pumped are we for Auburn/Penn State or Oregon/Ohio State? I think with an expanded playoff we’d get a lot more of this which would be awesome. What do you think of an NIT type tourney? Where the next four teams play a tournament as well with all the hype, but it’s separate. Would many of the the kids opt out anyway? Do you have any suggestions to make this idea better? I’d just love to see the games. Roll Tide.

Penn State Vs Auburn breakdown
Josh you do an outstanding job with the show & it’s always entertaining wether you talk about Auburn or not. I’ve listened to the Jboy show and Locked on Auburn and those guys are pretty optimistic that Auburn could go into beaver stadium and pull out the upset. I’m pumping the breaks on that but would love a W. I know you have had some praise for penn state during the 19 season when they were top 4 & 2020 was a disappointment for them. I’m a UPS driver which is when I normally listen to this (yes I’m trying to even the score in big brown’s favor lol) long time Dawg fan just a started listening in January after the Vols scandal. The Offseason isn’t Real
this is one of my favorite podcasts. multiple new episodes weekly that always hold their weight. it’s easy to see that Josh is passionate about our beautiful sport of college football and he can analyze the game on a deep level. Josh clearly has a soft spot for SEC football, but covers all conferences and relevant schools in a fair and in-depth manner. Josh is well spoken and has a clear understanding of how a college football program operates. he always keeps the show moving and makes a strong effort to not digress, even though i don’t mind when he does. keep up the good work!

Hey Josh, I love the show. I was just listening to the show owners meeting pod and really loved the questions! A couple that really caught my ear as an Alabama fan was “who will replace Nick Saban” I had to stop climbing for a second and sit on the wall saying what about Billy Napier??? But I agreed when you said if this was brought up last year Sark would’ve been most peoples pick and I know some fans who wanted the title “coach in waiting” to be put next to OC last year. I also thought it was funny when you said you liked hearing where people listen, mostly because I thought how I listen might be kinda unique, I listen with my buddy while we rock climb in WV. PS sorry about the annoying Twitter dms in the season, I just notice things you talk about in the pod and message them.

Coaching Criteria
I look forward to tuning in to the show every week. Whether it be excellent and objective college football analysis or the fun, quirky anecdotes and insights into Josh’s life, the show always leaves me hungry for more. Oh and thanks for refraining from infusing college football with political discussion. In a time of much political/social unrest, it’s a welcome reprieve to simply enjoy college athletics and this show is one of the few if not the only one remaining that seeks to do that for its listeners. Here’s my question: If you were an athletic director at a historically prestigious football school (but not necessarily elite currently) tasked with interviewing candidates for head coach, what interview questions would you ask and how would those questions change if the candidate is a first time head coach prospect? I’ve been listening to all of your stuff since before last season and had to throw some praise your way real quick. It’s super refreshing hearing people in sports media who really rely on the local reporting for each of these teams and doesn’t get caught up in the national narratives. You’ve been the best at doing that since I started listening to you and it’s why I keep coming back. You’re always super well informed and you formulate your own opinions while simultaneously trusting the information you get from those closest to each team/situation. Thanks for all of the great content you provide for CFB junkies like me and keep up the good work!

OLine Evolution
Hey Josh love the show been following since before 247 sports. Congrats on all your success! Most objective, forward thinking college football analysis out there. Never miss an episode. I have a question. Compared to when I 1st started watching football (late 90s) to now, almost every position is much more athletic and most times 15-20 pounds lighter on average than from those times. A 250 LB in the year 2001 plays Dline now. A 225 safety from then plays LB now. QBs are sub 6’0” tall are considered 5 star HS prospects and going 1st overall in the NFL draft. That used to be blasphemy! All positions but OL. Offensive line is just as big and seemingly haven’t had to change body types in the same way to be successful despite their direct adversary in edge players being also smaller and faster now. My question is when will a different body type succeed for OL? Will it ever? Willl there ever be 6’4”, 275 guys playing LT and being able to fully match athleticism with edge players as opposed to 6’5” 330 that I see so much now. Thanks for any take or insight into this!

If these collegiate athletes are able to make money off their NIL and/or paid by the universities for their services will they be more subjective to criticism since they aren’t just amateurs?

Just wanna say thank you for giving us cfb the show we want! Duck fan here who listens to every episode and just wanna say I never thought we would be able to recruit to Eugene how Coach Cristobal is doing it! My question is, Out of the rest of the PAC 12, who do you think can take their recruiting to the next level and join USC and Oregon and maybe help level the pac 12 up? I say AZ state. What about you?

Love the show, got a technology question
Hey Josh, Love the show and your approach to the show. I am in college studying programming and have wondered how technology has affected college football, for better or worse. With the increased use of data analytics, I’m sure there’s plenty of software that assists with crunching numbers. What technology could be game changing within the next few years, whether it be on the field or off the field? Thank you! -Kyle

Question regarding sitting in on coaches meetings
Hey Josh, Just wanted to start by saying I’m a big fan of the Late Kick, I’ve been listening since late summer of 19 when you were independent and haven’t missed a segment since. Looking forward to your future. On the last episode of the late kick extra you said you’d rather sit in on a coaches meeting than get full access to the recruiting trail. I agree because I love behind the scenes of what goes down in war rooms. My question is what coaches game week meeting in the history of college football would you have wanted to sit in on the most? For me, I’d have to roll with both times Saban had to play against Johnny football, especially the second time in Aggieland since the stakes were perhaps a little higher and it would have been interesting to hear how he would have game planned for containing Johnny the second time around. Thank you so much man! Best CFB podcast out there!

Clemsons Blue chip ratio
How is it that Clemson is able to consistently compete with teams with a significantly higher BCR than them, specifically Bama and Ohio st? Is dabo just a better talent evaluator than other coaches? Does the weaker ACC allow them to be fresher in the playoffs? Thanks and keep up the hard work

Spring 2021 Position Group(s)
Josh - love the Angels in the Outfield Movies references! With a caveat of spring practices scheduled to take place over the coming weeks, which position group(s), excluding QB, that have been labeled or have been perceived to be a weakness/area of concern for teams could their development from now until season start have could have a big impact on 2021 season whether good or bad development and the wripple effects that may have? Examples being: Georgia & Ohio State - secondary Clemson - O Line Oregon & Texas A&M - WR Oklahoma & Texas - D Line Excluding Alabama since they reload too consistently across the board; it’s an NFL assembly line

Excellent CFB show
Josh, you always say you would want the G5 to make their own playoff. I think this would be fun and I would watch the crap out of it, but as a diehard fan of a G5 team, I’m nervous this would just make the divide between P5 and G5 bigger and essentially make G5 football feel like FCS football

The Best College Football Show Out There
Hey Josh, love the show and excited for what you’ve got cooking up for the future of it! Best podcast for college football fans.
Back in the day I use to enjoy listening to shows like Dan Patrick and Jim Rome all day when I was in high school. This was early 2000s. Now I can’t stand them since they have gone woke and brought politics in their show. So I was done with sports podcasts until a friend told me about Late Kick. And boy am I glad he did. Been listening since the Championship game and he has been great. No politics just straight up football. And that is all I ask for. It’s a shame Jim and Dan has gone woke. But thank god for shows like Late Kick.

Ohio State Sugar Bowl Win
Hey, Josh! Big fan of your show and podcast, I love the outside the bloc analysis you bring to college football without the bias garbage you normally find on shows with a national reach. I know Ohio State as a program holds value and stature but I last nights win was HUGE for Ryan Day specifically. Last night showed how much of an assassin he is as a play caller. So many coaches have struggled to win “the big one”, Lincoln Riley off the top of my head. My question is, now that you saw that out of Day, do you now place him a little bit higher on best coaches in CFB? Where would you have him before that performance? Thanks again for the great listens!

I love college football but the past decade or so all the of college football shows and almost other shows have become watered down. Gameday hardly even talks about the games. College gameday final is a highlight show... where is the breakdown of plays, concepts, coaches, and a deep dive into the crazy games each week? So thank you for great deep analysis of the games, new hires, recruiting. Also I’m love politics but I enjoy every time you take a turn back to Football when you easily throw your two cents into a slightly political subject via football news. Keep up the good work!

Tallas on my mom’s iPhone
With the possibility of new transfer rules, how do you see it changing recruiting especially when there’s a big coaching change? A common excuse for keeping a coach is retaining commitments. Do you believe a penalty free one time transfer would significantly change the way that is viewed and how teams attack needs?

If Tennessee does make a coaching move how likely are they to land anyone decent? I would like Matt Campbell but I don’t see him wanting the job. I know High Freeze would take it and I would love him but if Pruitt leaves amidst recruiting violations the optics wouldn’t look good. I just don’t see us landing the caliber of coach we want.
