Thanks @Sam, I’m enjoying the episode. My take on the job replacement question is more pragmatic: if we’re talking about a 50 year time horizon, what do they care? Unless our lifespan is greatly increased in that window, most should be retired well before then 😏 (i.e., someone else’s problem). But the point is a good one regardless…

I also didn’t fully understand the comment about experiences being non-commoditizable. Not sure I agree with that, I’d need to think about that more. I get that he’s suggesting that preferences are so diverse, that perhaps “unique” highly personalized experiences are the endgame? That being said, seems like automation could address that. As well, “mainstream” experiences like Disneyland meets Westworld or massive online shared metaverses seem like they’ll continue to be important drivers of the experiential economy.

@David totally true. There is a lot of room for automated personal experiences. Roadblox, Minecraft or GTA already seem like early version of a westworld style make your own adventure. (Think I need to do more gaming to keep up with kids…)

Interesting conversation although I think the mentality of “just add AI” can lead to bad investing premises for startups. I think his attitude to it seems sensible but it does get misinterpreted 😂
