Appreciate the Transparency
Just listened to the episode with Jonathan Rauch. It was refreshing to hear concepts and future considerations being hammered out in real time for the listeners to learn from. Thanks for trusting in your listeners.

A spiritual, intellectual, and patriotic lift
The analysis and sense of history that the hosts bring to issues and news is just extraordinary. These Americans have created something beautiful with this organization and this podcast. It’s nice to listen to a show about politics without the hosts being arrogant jerks (hard to find). Braver Angels gives me a spiritual, intellectual, and patriotic lift.

Left Vs Far Left, not Left Vs Right
I want to love this organization. I wholly believe in resolution of differences through respectful dialogue. I keep giving this podcast a try, but am let down by any discussion of “right” or “red” perspective, which are dismissed by the primary host (Ciaran O’Connor) as conspiracy theories when there are FOIA released govt documentation that confirm that just because a narrative defies a left perspective doesn’t mean it’s made up by crazy right wingers. Until these hosts acknowledge the actual verifiable information that the right is aware of and shares, but which the corporate media ignores, hides, and obfuscates, this mission cannot proceed in good faith.

Encouraging
A wonderfully open, honest and illuminating conversation which I, as a Conservative, found very interesting and encouraging! This discussion between two, obviously, very passionate journalist bolstered my faith that there are those whose dedication to, as Joy Mayer sees Journalism, Public Service gives me great hope for a return to BALANCED JOURNALISM. The assessment of distrust in the American Media is an accurate, and disappointing one. But with journalists, such as Joy Mayer and Monica Guzman, encouraging responsible journalism I am envisioning a new and more thoughtful era of reporting. Thank you to Braver Angels for shining a light on this important and very relevant topic of discussion. And a special “Thank You!” To Joy Mayer and her “Trusting News Project” for the genuine concern and care it communicates.

Hire a Timekeeper
John Wood Jr. is very articulate and thoughtful. Politically, I find his nuanced take on race and racism enlightening, an antidote to ideological noise. But —he can’t stop talking. I believe he wants to have a dialogue with his excellent guests, e.g., John McWhorter, but he himself is doing most of the talking. McWhorter is concise and to the point, a skill he has perfected over years of conversing with Glenn Loury for the benefit of an audience. Give and take. Wood could learn a thing or two from McWhorter in this regard. Set a timer, or hire a timekeeper, or maybe just do the show himself.

Heart is in the right place
John Wood, you are obviously extremely intelligent and have a lot of important things to say. But I humbly suggest that you need to decide: do you want to have your own show, or do you want to have guest interviews. I didn’t actually track it, but it seemed like your airtime on the John McWhorter probably ran 3 to 1. If you want to have guests, ask the questions and let the audience learn about the guest’s opinions, and not primarily yours. Peace be with you.

Thank you
My hope for healing the divide in our country did not grow with the Biden-Harris election. In fact it became even more apparent that we are living different realities in the SSA-Separate States of America. Through Braver Angels’ thoughtful, respectful, smart and open -hearted discussions we may find our common ground and perhaps even build a better democracy.

Thankful
As someone who was more on the left of the political spectrum and now on the right, I know there are ways we can hear each other - but VERY few people are doing this truly difficult work. Thank you, both for recognizing the urgent need for depolarization, and for responding to it with so much skill and grace.

Challenge can lead to growth
I’m thankful for Braver Angels and their work to help our nation heal. I realized that I have some inner depolarization to address and I appreciate the opportunities this podcast provides to hear people from “the other side” share their stories and explain their convictions. It’s not always easy to hear what “they” have to say, but it challenges me to think and hopefully to grow in empathy and understanding of my fellow citizens.

Wanted to like it!
Hooo boy. I wanted to like this podcast. But when the conservative on the show started taking about January 6 - and how there is “no proof” about what happened on that day - I had to stop. Such a worthy goal to bridge these divides, but reconciliation comes only after acknowledgement of wrongs, repentance, and forgiveness. I don’t think I’m ready for that yet. Especially while the acknowledgement piece hasn’t happened yet.

What We Need Most
I had now came across the Braver Angels organization and listened to the latest podcast with guest Shelby Steele with hosted by John Wood, Jr. What courage these two men have! I have followed the Articles of Unity -Unity2020- movement started by Bret Weinstein and am very surprised I had not hear of Braver Angels as they would appear to have so much in common. Rational, open discussions that allow for disagreement, the very thing we need most right now.
