Simply the Best
Best national podcast there is. The variety of hosts and topics is unmatched. Great analysis of topics that are meaningful and outright foolishness combine to keep you coming back each time. Ari trying to math on what percentage 80 out of 100 is and the lack of “masteringly” of the English language by these wordsmiths can only be described as an assault on the American education system. Don’t miss out!

Ari we are out here!
Love this show. Best cfb pod going. Tons of insightful analysis with some people who are clearly plugged in. That being said, Ari I support your stars matter thesis and agree with many of your more controversial takes. Somehow you’re brave for saying that good players help teams win and I want you to know there are people who support you. Keep it up both of you!

Get Rid of Ari
This feed is fantastic with one gaping exception: Ari Wasserman is an idiot. He engages in the worst kind of hyperbole and then is bewildered when fans of the show (and Ralph Russo) call him out for it. If the show were only Andy and his friends except Ari, this would be a five-star review. The most recent episode “Ari takes a victory lap” was an hour of nauseating idiocy. I feel sorry for Vanderbilt alum Mitch Light for having to put up with such a dumb co-host. Do better, Athletic!

Jack hole
Andy Stapler is a jack hole. No idea why any one would go on this show. If he wasn’t on it, it’d be pretty good. Except for Ari. Fat clown. And Auerbach is totally lost Otherwise terrible. Stop playing with your pets during the podcast. Clowns. Ari blow your nose! It’s disgusting! Add* Tuned in for Michigan sanctions podcast. Guess what, they don’t care. Rules don’t matter. Just do whatever you want. Funnest part is when Ari calls himself a journalist. Which is either hilarious or a vicious indictment of the state of journalism. You pick.

Cheers to Power Auer
I’m giving this feed 4 stars purely because I love Power Auer. The actual Andy Staples show could be a great listen if they got rid of Ari as a cohost. I don’t even care about his bad takes. Those I could handle, but this man is dull and smug, and I don’t like listening to dull and smug podcasters. Again, Power Auer is amazing though. Give it its own feed like it deserves.

5 Star Question
Hey guys, Love the Pod. I had a thought the other day, with coaches buyouts getting so extreme - at what point does it become a better ROI for schools and boosters to NOT fire and buy out a coach, and instead repurpose those funds for a few massive NIL classes for 2 or 3 more years to see if they can right the ship?

The Best
Andy and Ari are always entertaining. Love their dialog. Ari could stand to learn a little more about the SEC but otherwise no complaints. Of course, guess I could stand to learn more about the PAC12. Anyway, for my money Andy is the best national writer/commentator in the business. Love his football and food takes. Keep it up, gentlemen!

Andy and Ari are football snobs and only talk about 5-6 teams. They think they’re smart, but their analysis basically begins and ends with who recruits better and whose more talented. This colors how they perceive every team and who they take seriously. Don’t get me wrong, talent acquisition is very important, and Ari knows what he’s taking about. But no matter what happens on the field, the conversation always feels the same. There are much smarter CFB podcasts out there (like Cover 3). Wish they didn’t lump this podcast with all of the other “friends” in the feed so I didnt have to subscribe to Andy and Ari’s show.

Please get rid of Ari
I used to enjoy this show for recaps and I am a big fan of Andy and Nicole. But I can't deal with the increasing frequency of Ari's appearances. The guy is dull and smug, with negative charisma, mediocre options, and nothing particularly insightful to say. He frequently interrupts others, and thinks quoting spreads and the 247 team composite ratings ad nauseum counts as some great value-add analysis for the show. Gonna give the show a break and try Split Duo Zone instead for a bit.

Week 12 review
Love the pod guys, but Ari seems to always steer a conversation back to Ohio state. It felt as though the review discussed Ohio state/CJ Stroud for a larger portion of the show. I am not an Ohio state hate or a big 10 fan. Just want you guys to touch on all of college football.

Could be better
Have Nichole Auerbach and Andy Staples be the main hosts and fire Ari Wassermann into the sun. I skip every Ari Wassermann episode because I can’t stand to listen to his mediocre and boring schtick. The only time I enjoy his presence are when cohosts are correcting him or eviscerating his crap opinions.

No Offense needed to cause Chaos
Love the show! listen to pod talk about Iowa. Scenario: Iowa beats UM in B1G Champ. 1 UGA 13-0 2 TCU 13-0 Who gets last two: 12-1 Clem champ 12-1 USC champ 12-1 UM nonC 11-1 Tenn 11-1 OSU also. I think committee goes 4 conference champs. And B1G is left out. Who would have thought Iowa B1G Champ! Also this would be perfect year for 12 team playoff. There will be at least 2 teams that get left out that could get to Champ Game, and loose to UGA. No one beats UGA this year.

Fun, but if you’re looking for unbiased content look elsewhere
I liked this podcast for a little while because it was fun, but I couldn’t make it any longer after hearing ol mister hot takes seriously ask if 6-3 Kentucky was the third best team in the big ten. The same Kentucky that, in a moment of total poetic justice, just lost at home to Vandy. Keep up the fun, but maybe try taking off those SEC homer glasses long enough to see that the 7th best SEC team isn’t a championship contender in every other conference 😂

Ari’s playoff angst
What Ari is missing is that, for example, LSU vs Alabama was a battle for a playoff spot. If LSU loses that game they’re out. He’s concentrating on the losers being out and not on the teams that could win their way back in. I’m a UGA fan. Imagine 2007 UGA in a playoff. Or TAMU with Johnny Manziel. We may lose a little in the mega games (maybe), but we gain more big time games that matter.

Question for Pod Discussion
I’ve been listening and really enjoy the show. I’m wondering if schools with lesser NIL resources could Moneyball recruiting? Which positions have the most market inefficiencies generally (or specific to conferences)? For non-blue bloods it seems to me it makes more sense to allocate resources towards linemen and multi-position athletes than just one five star QB or pass rusher. Thoughts?

Love you guys, but please stop talking about Iowa
I am begging the good folks that populate this feed to please, for the love of God, stop talking about 2022 Iowa until there is something new worth talking about. I have never heard so much airtime dedicated to a bad team that hasn’t fired their coach in what is ostensibly supposed to be national coverage of the sport. I swear, the same set of talking points keep coming up in multiple different shows every single week that boil down to: 1) Iowa offense bad 2) Iowa defense good 3) If Iowa had even an average offense they would be a playoff-caliber team 4) Iowa won’t fix their offense because the offensive coordinator is the head coach’s son. We get it. There are so many other more interesting teams, games, and storylines in this sport to talk about. Just because Hawkeye fans are stuck in purgatory doesn’t mean the rest of us have to be. Thanks and keep up the good work! Looking forward to seeing how Ari spends Andy’s $1K. P.S. Please do not apply any of the above to Texas A&M. That situation is objectively hilarious and every ridiculously expensive L they take should be discussed in explicit detail. Never stop talking about Texas A&M.

The best CFB podcast out there
Any sports podcast that my sports-indifferent SO not only likes but asks to listen to when we’re making dinner or running errands deserves five stars. The combination of expert sports talk, impassioned food discussion, pop culture topics, and making Ari attempt math is an ideal recipe for a good time.

Love the pod
Long time listener, and Andy Staples Twitter follower. Love the pod. I don’t mind when y’all talk non football topics. Didn’t love the ep when Ari and the other guy were arguing the whole time but all around love this pod. Idk if you do 5 star review questions, but if Clemson has another playoff run this season, does the criticism of “Dabo’s way” cool off a bit? Tons of off-season talk about him promoting within and not using the portal. It’s not like all the other teams that are doing the status quo(hiring outside, using the portal) are having more success than him. Would love to hear yours and Nicole’s thoughts on this as you both were critical of Dabo this off-season, if I recall correctly.

Hey Andy! A sad Arkansas fan asking a question… do you think that if Arkansas has a disappointing season, like going 7-5 or 6-6, (hopefully that’s not our ceiling now) how much will that impact Arkansas recruiting? I know Arkansas will not break the top 10 anytime soon but do you think we’ll have a shot at being a to 20 class with a season like that after having so much hype/hope in the off-season?

Terrible podcast; too many off-topic discussions
When they actually discuss college football, it’s an excellent podcast. But unfortunately, they spend far too much time discussion off-topic, personal issues. The podcast I just listened to was a great example they spent roughly the first ten minutes discussing one of their kids’ birthday parties and other, personal, non-football issues. Literally, they did not start discussing football until about 10 min., 15 seconds into the podcast. It is tremendously aggravating to have to sit to those non-football discussions. I think it’s safe to say that no one tunes in for that stuff. It astounds me that so many podcast hosts don’t seem to realize it (it’s like an epidemic across the podcast-host world). Furthermore, I think most people are similar to me, in that, I only have a limited amount of time to listen to podcasts. So I pick and choose the subject matter carefully. For example, I can fit in 20- or 30-minute broadcasts when I’m in the car. I don’t want to waste 10 minutes hearing one of the host describe a cooler he bought—literally, he was describing the fact that there is a spigot in it that can dispense drinks. Do they really that people tuning in to hear college-football discussions also want to hear about those types of thing?

5-star Mailbag question
Hi Andy and Ari! I’m in Naples, FL so not sure if this will go through. But if it does, man, do I have a question for you, after the Hurricane we got! Firstly, your podcast got me through Ian. I pre-downloaded a few of your old bangers and it gave me all the nostalgia. Ari singing Smash Mouth will live for generations. My question is what games meant the most to a CFB fanbase, in the moment? On a personal level, I’m a Huskers fan who just lived through this monster. I could really use a win this weekend from Big Red. But, bigger picture, the Saints after Katrina, Yankees after 9/11, and that first weekend of CFB of the Covid season were big reliefs for huge, chunks of people. I’m sure, for Vols fans, last weeks win over the Gators was big, in a different way. (Note: stop comparing Nebraska and Tennessee to each other; the Vols wish the my had Big Red’s tradition and national championships.) What games stand out for a fanbase as cathartic? Sincerely, Sad Husker Nano who should probably be a Hurricane fan now

Simple math
Figuring out the Vegas projected score is simple algebra. 2X + point spread = over under Point spread and over under are known values, solve for X. The final score is: (X + point spread) - X For example, if the point spread is 10 and the over under is 40: 2X + 10 = 40 X is 15, projected score is (15+10) - 15, or 25-15.

So much content- makes watching college football more fun.
Main review: you guys give excellent coverage of the big names in football and teams that are “name brands” as Ari calls it or “blue bloods” as Mike Gundy calls it. There is a ridiculous amount of coverage in this podcast feed, which means some stuff is boring and meaningless, and other podcasts are insightful. My favorite hosts are Max and Nicole. Ari is hilarious, it’s a joy to peer into his life through his life stories, he fits right in to the Dallas crowd near Love Field, which is where I grew up. Andy is so quick witted and able to process so much of what is going on in football. Mayonnaise and mustard are awesome and ketchup is the worst by the way. Recommendation: Talk about Oklahoma State. The Pokes are such an amazing team and the program has amazing leadership. Ever since Mike Gundy, and even when OSU had Les Miles, they always end up way above where the money in the program and recruiting should allow. OSU and other schools in that boat should get way more coverage. Five Star Question: you guys regularly discuss coaches, and coaching tactics. It made me so disappointed to see Rees cussing out Pyle in the ND game today. You guys know more coaches and student athletes than I do, is that normal? Should a coach unleash his anger on his players during a game? Does it work? I would think this compromises the player’s love for his team and breaks his spirit to accomplish his goals. Fill me in on your thoughts, and let me know when you do, too many podcasts to keep up with every one. Final thought: Ari, you are smart and God loves you and gave us mystery. Seek his beautiful mysterious way.

Do y’all have any theories as to why Scott Frost has been *this* much of a disaster after being hailed as the savior of Nebraska five years ago? We see “homerun” hires underachieve all the time but this much of a disaster feels truly unprecedented. Any theories as to why it has failed this badly?

A mixed bag based on the host
I would give the feed another half star if I could but the quality varies so much based on who the host of the show is. Andy is the best in the business and Ari is great cohost with him. Their commentary is informative and extremely entertaining I got. Nicole Auerbach’s reporting on what’s going on in the sport at the on the macro level is great and helps really contextualize the day to day commentary well. Unfortunately, the good half of the football and grits episodes has been replaced and we’re left with two cohosts who fail to leave their homerism at the door and don’t really provide much thought-provoking analysis. I have hope that Brody will grow but I’ve given up on David at this point.

5-Star CFB Podcast
Andy Staples is one of the best in the business because of the combo of his deep expertise into college football matters on and off the field and intensely self-deprecating sense of humor. I’m not a huge fan of his food challenges, but the good-natured ribbing and random tangents provide a comfortable rhythm to the show that make it a really fun listen. His most frequent guest, Ari Wasserman, is a seasoned recruiting reporter with some really interesting opinions. Andy and Ari generally have thought-provoking conversations that touch on recruiting, NIL, playoff expansion, conference realignment, gambling and of course the on-field product. I will admit that I sometimes find myself frustrated by Ari getting irritated at listeners/readers for disagreeing with/not understanding his arguments. He’s generally very opinionated on most topics which I think is completely fine. However the show would flow even better if he would acknowledge that many of his positions are contrarian/divisive, and reasonable people can experience the sport differently but still love the game the same amount. Anyway, this is the best national college football podcast in the country, and I listen to it at least three times per week. I highly recommend it to everyone from the blue blood program diehard to the general sports fan with a passing interest in college football.

Hypothetical
When Nebraska pulls the plug on Scott Frost in mid-October, can Auburn do the same with Brian Harsin? This would allow Harsin to be the interim at Nebraska for the rest of the year. Clearly not a fit at Auburn, I think he could have success at a place like Nebraska, and Nebraska has shown in recent hiring that they can and often will do worse. Thought?

5 Star Q: Recent Conversion to Stars Matter
Hey guys! As a Michigan State fan, I always poopoo’d the Stars Matter mantra as Dantonio had clearly found success finding “diamonds in the rough” to get MSU to the CFP. But in his later years it’s become clear that stars do, in fact, matter. With Tucker’s reenergized and modern view of recruiting, I’ve heard a lot of Ari’s emphasis on Tuck signing top 100 recruits. My question is this: how big of a drop off is there outside the top 100? Is the talent gap between the 50th best player and the 101st best player that much bigger compared to the gap between the 101st best player and the 150th best player? Thanks guys! Love the show!

It was a solid show pre-Ari but Ari has pushed it one of my top listens. On that note, I recently listened to The rewatchables episode of the1987 hit “Can’t buy me love”. Good info, but…
Most episodes have really good info. That’s if you can get past the D- production quality. I understand not everyone can be together all the time, but for goodness sake, record locally and have someone splice it together. It’s hard to follow the conversation when everyone sounds like they’re recording with a soup can and fishing wire.

5 star question
Hi Andy, love the show and I can even forgive you for being a Gator, though I went to UT and also graduated in 2000 so we should be mortal enemies. Side note- I was at the game in 98 when we won in overtime, very top tier of the student's section and somehow (after a few Jack n Cokes) made it all the way down to run onto the field. Now that was a party! Anyway, as long suffering Vol these days, my question is this- seeing Lane Kiffin's trajectory and now his success as a coach, would UT be a top program if he had stayed and not screwed us over, or would his success not be possible without attending Saban's coach rehab program? What would the program look like if he didn't go to USC? And actually one more- I want to get on the Heup-train but I liked Butch Jones at first too... do you think he's got what it takes to be the coach we need?? Thanks! -Julia

Decent college football podcast; co host problematic
There is surprisingly little out there nationally on college football… So this has become one I turn to when big things happen/the season is on going. Staples is solid. When will conf revenue disparity actually benefit recruiting
If SEC programs are receiving more annual TV revenue than those in the ACC, when and how does that disparity in conference revenues begin to make a difference in recruiting/NIL? Some programs in these lower tax brackets ie Miami and Clemson seem to do really well versus the Florida’s in recruiting. Shouldn’t this $$ disparity advantage SEC and B1G on the recruiting trail at some point?

5 Star Question: Baylor, TCU, Kansas & WVU to ACC?
Do Baylor, TCU, Kansas, and West Virginia bring enough eyeballs to get the ACC more money and strengthen the conference? At 18 (1-8-8), you don’t shut out the pipe dream of Notre Dame. Playoff Compromise
Andy & Ari, It seems like the SEC wants a playoff with as few guaranteed spots as possible. The west coast consolidation of rejected souls (formerly PAC 12) and ACC seem to want some kind of guarantee in a playoff field. Wouldn’t an adequate compromise be to create an 8 team playoff field with the top 3 spots going to the 3 highest ranked conference champions? The SEC and B1G would probably get their champs in the top 3 every year. And the rejects would get one guaranteed spot to fight over. Brandon Holmes

5 Star Question. 5-Star HS Journalists
Andy, when you bring Ari on the SEC tour this Fall, can you stop by the high school in Athens where I teach and talk to the journalism students? It’s one of the most decorated and successful journalism programs in the nation. And Hugh Acheson said he won’t feed you unless you say yes. I’ll have a bag full of filet o fish for Ari. Great show 5 star question
One of the best college football shows out there. my question relates to the comments Kevin Warren made and you spoke about in regards to the 16 team playoff. I agree one versus 16, two versus 15 would be games we would watch but not competitive. What about a format where nine played 16 down to 12 playing 13. The winner of those games would play five through eight in the next round he would be coming off a buy. And then the winner of those games would play one through four who would be coming off a double by. much more competitive and you could have the nine through 16 games as well as the second round all on campus.

13-9
Hey Andy, Huge Pitt fan. Have you thought about doing a replay of Pitt/WVU in 2007, or better known as 13-9. This game defines rivalries and impacted all of college football beyond this game. Pitt, at 4-7, had no business being in a game against a WVU team ranked #2 who only needed to win and they were playing for a national championship. Some how Pitt won. But beyond the drama of the game were the ripples beyond the game impacting the national championship in 2007 and extending to the Big 10 with Michigan. I listen to you and Ari every week during my commute from LA to SF on I5, love your podcast. Steve

Future of A&M
Great show! My #1 podcast for college football. My question is about the future of Texas A&M. I know we’re entering the 2022 season and I’m excited about it but as an A&M fan I can’t help but think about 2023. With the recruiting class that was just signed and say we find a QB and win 10 games this season. Is it crazy to think A&M could be the preseason #1 team going into 2023? Thanks

Andy and Ari provide endless entertainment to me and for that I am grateful. I would Subscribe to The Athletic solely for the podcast. There is great college football content, but even better “life and random topics” content. I highly suggest listening to them!!!! My question for 5 star Friday: a very important one… why do sports writers also love on Marriott so much compared to Hilton or Hyatt. My personal experiences are so much better with the latter two, yet sports writers always go Marriott!

Penn State Football
I listened to your state of the program on Penn State with Audrey. I hope the team’s recent recruiting success can possibly sneak them into a 4-team playoff if the cards fall right and Franklin improves his poor in-game decision making and be consistent participants in a 12 team (if that even happens anymore). However, my expectations aren’t that high for this season because I honestly don’t think Clifford and the O-line will able to get the team any further than a 7-5 or 8-4 record. Penn State replicated Pitt’s situation in the 2000’s where they chose local hero Tyler Paklo over Joe Flacco with Clifford over Will Levis. My question - is the program’s ceiling posting consistent top 5-10 recruiting classes and beating Ohio State once every 3-5 years or is it possible to take it to another level to be on par with Ohio State? I realize Penn State has a couple major disadvantages (not an easy place to get to if coming from out of state and PA’s high school talent does not have the depth has Ohio). Great show!! My wife enjoys your side rants. I did go out and try Arby’s and McDonald’s fish sandwiches, because of you two.

Another realignment question/commment
Love the shows and the variety of guests. I know my school is exceptionally lucky to already be in the SEC or we would be in serious trouble. I looked around message boards for some of the schools that may be outside looking in once realignment is done. Which group of fans do you think has the largest disconnect between the position they think they are in and the position they actually are in. I think it’s Kansas. They seem to look down in their conference mates and think their basketball team will save them when the NCAA basketball tournament is big school only or something like that

The most FUN college football coverage
I read, watch and listen to a lot of college football coverage. Some podcasts specialize in being funny, others well-informed; some take themselves seriously as sports journalists, others are unabashed fans; some have interesting topics but lame takes, others lame topics but interesting takes. I think the Andy Staples Show is perfectly well-balanced — fun, smart, enthusiastic and measured. It is something to look forward to every weekday and the show has absolutely made me a better and bigger fan of college football. Oh, and for the five-star mailbag: Penn State lost out on playing for the 1994 national title essentially over a technicality (see: the original “coalition”) but still earned one national poll’s (The New York Times) No. 1 ranking. PSU obviously celebrates that as an undefeated team, but why not go a step further and claim that title (probably something that if it were to happen, it should have happened 25 years ago). Thanks!

As a diehard Miami fan I am trying not to get too excited before Mario coaches even one game, but the momentum they are gaining on the recruiting trail has me super excited. Where do you see Miami 5 years from now?

Super Dooper Leagues! Regulation!
Great Show! Question: would it make sense for BIG and SEC to double down and grab all the leftover schools as a secondary tier and add the possibility of regulation of two teams from the ‘Premier’ top part of the conference every year like in English Soccer. This would allow the lower league teams who want to spend to win and a chance to get to the premier part of the league where they get a bigger piece of the Conference money pie. It’s also quality control as it incentivizes the top of the league to spend to stay in. Also, the Super Leagues could have two playoffs for each of their leagues, the Premier and the Lower parts of the conference. Meaningful football, even for the lower league as the two winners get advanced into the Premier league. Less teams left behind? Quality control? The Vandys and Northwesterns of the world can’t rest on their laurels? Then BIG and SEC Premier champs play each other? Keep up the good work!

Hey guys, love the show. WRT expansion, how high of a price is too high to pay for Notre Dame? Great Show + Question
Great show guys. Question: Since the B1G is once again trying to convince Notre Dame to join the conference, can you see any potential advantage to NBC in its media negotiations with the B1G? In other words, could you see the B1G giving NBC some kind of advantage in the negotiations in an attempt to make it easier to get ND to join later on this decade? Or am I WAY overthinking this? Great College Football podcast!
Amazing college football podcast and they’re always a fun listen, especially during the summer! Question for Andy/Ari: Saw a Reddit post by u/Skurph on r/CFB this weekend with his/her experience as a West Virginia fan and a warning to fans wanting to move towards non-geographic based conferences and how stale it can become as a fan. To summarize their post, they talked about how they have not had a true rival since 1990, as they’ve been hopping around conferences for the past 30 years. An example they gave was how they initially found it interesting to play in Lubbock or against UConn, but now you look around and realize they have zero rivals after being in the Big 12 for 10 years. As we look to combine conferences and build big megaconferences, this was another perspective of how we’ll lose the charm and passion in the sport in the long run. Would love to hear y’all’s thoughts on this as it was a perspective I hadn’t even considered. Tyler

SEC chess move of utilizing Big12 to dissolve ACC
Let me know if this master chess move would work of the SEC utilizing the Big 12 to get 8 ACC members to vote to dissolve the conference. The SEC gets to take 4 members it wants and to hopefully stave off the threat of Big Ten becoming more prominent with Notre Dame. Big12 would get better options to expand and SEC could offer a contract of 10 games a year in conference matchups as well as an agreement to not take their schools. The 4 ACC schools that would get landing spots in the Big12 get to not pay an exit fee because the ACC is dissolved and get into a conference that won’t pay as much money as the SEC but would be a bump up from the ACC So you’d need to get 8 ACC teams to agree to dissolve. Let’s say SEC takes FSU, Clemson, NC State, and VT. SEC tells Miami, Louisville, Pitt, and GT (or BC/Syracuse) that they don’t want them but the Big12 assures them of a landing spot if they agree to go along with dissolving. Big12 gets SEC to agree in writing to 10 yearly matchups (Miami vs FSU, Louisville vs UK, OU vs OK State, Kansas vs Missouri, UGA vs GT, VT vs Wvu, +4 others). SEC assures itself of being most powerful conference with a partner league. Big12 stays relevant as the clear #3 in a P2 world with chance at making some more moves to the west. The 8 schools dissolving the ACC get more money and stay relevant.

Hey guys, Love the Pod. Ari gets a bad rep but I love both of you equally. Im a Pitt fan. Am I screwed? Is Penn State going to totally block any potential Pitt to the B1G? Pitt is an AAU school with a top 15 research portion (ahead of UVA and UNC) lots of football history and now finally recent success along with NFL player production. Talk me off the ledge
Love the podcast, writing this as news breaks of the ACCs new scheduling model. As a college football fan I love the idea of removing divisions and allowing the best of the best play for conference titles in each league, but as a Penn State fan all I see is the same gauntlet. If the Big Ten were to do the same scheduling revamp, tell me how the league won’t make PSU play Ohio State, Michigan and Michigan State every year and give the league two steps forward, but the nittany lions two steps back. Realignment
Great show, addicted to CFB content, the feed gives me that hit. 5-star Question: As traditional football powers continue to consolidate into two ‘super-conferences’ (or whatever you’d like to call it), will second-tier schools in those conferences always just be lucky for being in the right place at the right time? Or will we see those two conferences ‘trim the fat’ and eventually solely consist of the top 30-40 programs? i.e. programs like FSU, Ok St, Oregon, Miami, UW, Clemson, etc are almost certainly more valuable than Northwestern, Vandy, Maryland, Miss St, etc and yet they find themselves on the outside looking in. Will that always be the case?

Meat and Potatoes
Dear Andy, If you’re reading this thank you. I see a lot of the top tier classes in June are filled with bread (recievers, DBs, TEs) and dessert (QBs). The meat (OL and DL) and potatoes (RB’s and LB’s) separate the national contenders more than any other position groups on the field. I understand Ari’s obsession with the 24/7 sports composite however I think grading programs on their “meat and potatoes” star ranking determines wins and losses and where programs stands in terms of national relevance. Do you agree?

Currently in Europe on a hiking trip and you’ve given me a lot to listen to on these long hikes. Penn State Ceiling Playoff or Natty?
Andy and Ari, Love the show, you guys are the first podcast I look to play every day. Penn State alumni down in Texas and given your recent discussions regarding Clemson and Auburn’s national championships as the only ones to have average recruiting rankings outside the top 5 in the past 15 years, does PSU need to essentially hit on a generational quarterback (Drew Allar?) with their consistently good but not elite (cough James Franklin cough) classes? I’m personally a Franklin supporter and appreciate the talent upgrade at the program since the 2000’s, but if Penn State never gets in the top 3 classes is this scenario the only way a national championship is possible? Arguably PSU has had more NFL talent the past few years than the aforementioned Auburn team and as much as the Clemson teams but something seems missing. Keep up the great work! Will G

The go-to college football show
This show is tailor made for someone like me, who grew up in SEC Country & a fan of an SEC school so the sport is filtered through that lense, but enough love for the game itself to follow all of the major stories from across the country, with just a little bit of off-topic nonsense to not feel like a total overload. Nothing gets me more excited for the upcoming season than listening to Andy and his friends. 5-star question: Can you guys spend some time - 5 minutes or so - saying nice things about Western Kentucky? When will TV have to pony up for NIL?
Love the pod. Gets me to and from work each week. Please stay on brand by going off topic in the off-season. The food discussions with Ari are incredible. I know boosters are irrational about their teams but do you think they will get tired of paying for NIL deals with little to no financial return and therefore the players look to the two entities who benefit the most from their services and get them to pony up…the schools and tv networks ? With Texas being like 6 of those. Like, why are you so obsessed with them?! It’s not that interesting. Thank you guys for your expansive coverage both in-season and during the off-season. The banter and going off track is just like what happens at the bar or on the golf course with my friends. Andy’s feed is one of the most informative college football podcasts available. The group of journalist including Ari Wasserman, Max Olson, Mitch Light, Sam Khan Jr., Nicole Auerbach and many more all have taught me countless things about college football. The off topic conversations keep the show fresh, entertaining and keep the speakers human and relatable. Question - I graduated from the University of Illinois in May 2022 with a degree in journalism, but I’m struggling to find a job despite having quality grades and internships with the Illinois Rivals website (Orange and Blue News) covering both Fighting Illini football and mens basketball, the student newspaper, a local ESPN radio affiliate and other sports media related companies. MAILBAG question and suggestion for more rewatch pods
Big fan of the show, yadda yadda yadda…Ari hates Michigan State, yadda yadda yadda… You guys do great work every episode. Question: What if any, is the story behind the hotdog logo on the helmet as the podcast art for the show? Rewatch suggestions: I swear I’m not picking on Michigan on purpose… 1) Michigan/Ohio State 2006. 1 vs 2 and another edition of a “Game Of The Century.” Back and forth all game. Late in 4th Q, Michigan down 4 points with OSU driving. Ohio State is behind the sticks at 3rd and 15 when Shawn Crable commits a 14 yard personal foul penalty, which gives OSU automatic fist down. OSU scores to go up 11. Michigan responds with a TD and 2pt conversion. OSU ultimately wins 42-39. 2) App State/Michigan 2007. Arguably the biggest upset in college football history. 3) “Trouble With The Snap” Michigan State/Michigan 2015. One of the glib storylines from the game: at the end of the last play, Jalen Watts-Jackson can be heard screaming at the bottom of the pile. Not because he’s excited he scored. He actually broke his up due to the pile up on him. He never played a snap again for Michigan State. 4) Nebraska/Texas 2009 Big12 title game. Suh almost single handedly won the game. The game ends with controversial “one second left” rule, which Bo Pelini considered a conspiracy theory in favor of Texas. 5) Louisville/Clemson 2016. Clemson took a 28-10 lead into halftime. Then Lamar Jackson flipped the switch, only to fall just short in the comeback attempt. The last play on the last drive came up a yard short of where Louisville needed. Clemson went on to win the title and Jackson to win the Heisman. 6) USC/Notre Dame 2006. “Bush Push” game 7) Ohio State/Miami 2003 National Championship game. Loaded with NFL talent across the 2-deep. Sadly, Willis McGahee tore almost every ligament ending in “CL” in his knee in the fourth quarter. Personally, I think if he does not get hurt that game, the Lions would take McGahee 2nd overall in the NFL draft, and we would ask “Who is the next Willis McGahee?” The first OT of the game had the controversial pass interference penalty called against Glenn Sharpe on Chris Gamble.

And the ability to get transfers with immediate eligibility is huge if a Houston kid wants to come back home. I think the resources are there and will continue to grow. Assuming the semi-final and +1 games are the last week of the regular season, how can we still manage to have the awesome rivalry’s, in particular cross conference UF-FSU and USC-Clemson games? 2) Short of writing to you and generating discussion, how can the common man make their voice heard in regards to changing college football? The existing committee or similar governing body can be used to power rank all 130 Power 5 and Group of 5 teams. Divide that ranking into 13 10-team divisions (Division A: 1-10, Division B: 11-20, etc). Each team plays every other team in their division once between Week 3 and Week 12. Opponents can be scheduled independently by schools for Weeks 1, 2, and 13 (this can preserve regional and historic rivalries if Michigan & Ohio State; Notre Dame & Navy; Alabama & Tennessee; etc are sorted into different divisions). If a school schedules an FCS opponent, that school is disqualified from the playoffs. Divisional W-L record determines divisional standings with the head-to-head result as the tiebreaker. The Twelve-Team Playoff is made up of the following - top four teams from Division A - top three teams from Division B - top two teams from Division C - top team from Division D - two at-large bids, determined by committee, from the pool made up from the champions of lower divisions At the end of every season, the top two and bottom two teams from each division are evaluated by the committee for promotion or relegation, and new power rankings are released for the next season. I'm open to better names for the divisions, and expanding to 16 or more teams in the playoff

Great show and great question
P5 teams pay smaller teams (G5 or FCS) to come get beat up for an easy win at home (for the most part). What factors into how much that smaller team gets paid? Would a P5 school pay more to play a better team or pay more for a worse team? If the small school’s fan base travels well, does that matter?

Love the Pod. I listened to your SEC super league. Let’s assume no Big Ten leaves to join SEC. And let’s assume the Big Ten will expand by 2036. What teams join a new 24 team Big Ten super league? Do the 4 AAU teams in ACC (UVa UNC Ga Tech and Duke) go to Big Ten? What PAC 12 teams join? Any Big 12?

That’s not how probabilities work… [Peanut Butter Curse]
It’s a 5% chance of waking up and being covered in peanut butter *every* morning. You could end up with a string of bad luck (or good luck!) so that you have several consecutive peanut butter days within a short period. It’s not a once a month and then resets curse. You also need to consider other factors - Cohabitation (grounds for divorce or at the very least separate beds); Travel logistics (sleeping and waking up on a plane, at a hotel, on your buddy’s couch, camping, etc.); God help you if you’re ever arrested and sleep in jail or prison; The effect of peanut butter coverage on your skin can’t be great; Family allergies; Naps (what counts as morning and waking up); etc. The goofy stuff *is* the show. Thanks for the entertainment!

Always enjoy the show (updated question to be fair to your excellent co-host Ari
I’ve heard from a reliable source that there might have been a time or two in the long ago past when the Gatorwalk could be a “profitable” experience for a football player at the University of Florida, as in, throngs of your adoring fans stuffing your pockets with cash, watches, and jewelry as you walk by high-fiving them. Do you see this practice continuing in the NIL era?

Future of non-blue chip teams
Andy and Ari - love the pod. Keep putting in more non-football stuff. It makes your show unique. Here's my mailbag question: Andy Staples alternate time-line question: Andy decides to roll the dice, pony up and take the non-scholarship offer in the Ivy League. While there, he takes an Intro to Engineering course and his professional life is changed forever (Andy still meets Ann during graduate school). Many advanced degrees later he’s a super-star in the academic world and has just been named the President of Georgia Tech (Duke, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, or Stanford). He’s still a passionate CFB Fan (and Athletic subscriber) where his favorite columnist is Ari Wasserman. He’s read Ari’s (and other’s) prognostications about a potential Super CFB League, which all leave his new employer out of the Big Boys club. Andy’s first cabinet post hire is to bring Ari Wasserman (fully tarped) to Atlanta to be his Athletics Consiglieri. Together they must decide a plan of action for Georgia Tech’s football future. How can they keep GT as part of whatever future Power designation comes to fruition, or is that a hopeless cause??? Random Ranking: best organic uses for bacon (since Ari thinks it gets added to too much food stuff)

Dissimilar programs
What programs are opposites if each other? Two for me would be Wisconsin and Texas. Wisconsin has a clear identity, doesn’t have the ceiling of a great program, and doesn’t have the talented base in state. Texas has the taken base, has the highest ceiling of any program (unsure if it will ever get there), but has no identity as a program Also Kansas and bama but that’s unfair

Fun q&a show
I am totally in support of paying college players. However, given that they are paid, there are limited academic expectations, many (though not all) of the players would not have gotten into the college that they play at in the revenue sports, the players are expected to spend so much time at practice that they cannot have a student life, etc., how are these new NIL players different from other professionals? And why should it be attached to a college? Let’s just make a separate minor league for football and basketball and keep the colleges separate.

Fantastic show
Legitimately love this show, even (especially?) in the offseason. My favorite podcast. Never seen a sport-specific pod accomplish that so well. Here’s my Q. Quite a few coaches have been hired with salaries that say “we are competing for titles”. There’s only one title to go around every year, so some, if not most, of these guys will fail. How would you rank these coaches on their odds to win a title or at least be competitive enough to win one before their schools patience runs out? I’m excluding guys who have already won at their current school (so Saban, Dabo and Kirby). - Jimbo (hasn’t won at A&M) - Brian Kelly - Lincoln Riley - Mario Cristobal - Mel Tucker - Ryan Day - Billy Napier - Anyone else with these kinds of salary/expectations combo

Eligibility Question
How would college football change if players only had a strict 4 year eligibility window (ie 4 years starting 4 years after a player starts high school) with no extensions or alterations? Basically killing reclassification, prep years, and redshirting. My initial thought is this would be devastating for BYU but what other implications would it have?

Michigan State Mailbag Question
The treatment Mel Tucker is getting is insane to me. He is the 4th highest paid coach in the country. He has never come within 40 points of Ryan Day. Never finished better than 3rd in the Big Ten East. If Jim Harbaugh or James Franklin had that paycheck and that resume everyone would be calling for them to be fired. I understand recruiting is getting better but he has never even signed a top 100 player as a head coach. Are blowout losses to nationally relevant teams and third place finishes in the division worth that paycheck? I've never seen the benefit of the doubt extended like this to a coach making this much money.

Great show
Question for Andy: Phrase it however you want (a long term agreement/contract/breakaway), but shouldn’t the SEC and BIG10 just effectively merge and then add around 10 more teams (6 west coast teams, including Oregon and USC ,and then wait for the ACC deal to expire and add FSU, Miami, Notre Dame, and Clemson)? They’d be able to dictate whoever they want to join them. They could hold their own playoff and declare a college football champion. A 64 team super league is too big (there would be too many smaller power 5 conference teams included that don’t increase the average revenue per team), but a breakaway 20ish team SEC is too small and regionally focused. A 40-team league will cover most of the country. And by the SEC and BIG10 merging, they would keep their existing programs and rivalries together, and they can’t be accused of leaving smaller programs (like Vandy and Indiana) behind. They could sign a deal with Disney/ABC/ESPN and have up to 20 games a week (before byes start) on all of their platforms. This would be bad for some programs (sorry, NC State, Oklahoma State, etc.), but every one of these 40 teams would make a fortune.

Ari, you frequently voice your opinion that a program needs multiple top five recruiting classes to win a national championship. How then would you explain the fact that within the past six years, Clemson has won two titles without a single top five class? The classes that made up their championship rosters were all ranked between 9 and 20, with the 9th ranked 2015 class being the only one inside the top ten.

Michigan Questions
Hey Andy and Ari. Michigan fan in Atlanta. Got a Michigan question for you. Was the Harbaugh hire a success? He was hired to win the Big Ten and get to the playoff. It took him longer than we thought, but he did get it done. Nick Baumgardner said once that if Michigan was more like Auburn that you knew they can get Alabama every few years, Michigan fans would be happy with that in regards to beating Ohio State once every few years do you think that is true? Does Michigan as a institution want to be excellent in football? Meaning does Harbaugh or any Michigan coach have the support, money, infrastructure, and facilities compared to other schools? I remember the Rose Bowl was the goal, not the national title. It seems like Ohio State is the only Big Ten program that dared to dream bigger than the Rose Bowl. Thanks guys!

Excellent Show. Stars Matter and so does Evaluation!
Love the pod! Great to have year-round CFB coverage. My question comes thru the lens of a Kentucky fan: I know y'all said that Michigan State should be recruiting at a level higher than UK in the SOTP show. I am Curious where u rate UK right now? (Not as a job, but as a program in terms of current roster, facilities, schedule, recruiting outlook, NIL, etc.) Obviously I’m biased, but I would say we beat 2021 Michigan State in a H2H game and just bc the name on the chest isn’t sexy doesn’t mean we aren’t a top 10-15 team right now. We finished 4th in the SEC and went 10-3, beating Florida, LSU, Iowa, and humiliating Louisville which is often alluded to as a sneaky good ACC job. Fwiw, I think Michigan State goes 8-4 against our schedule last year losing the three we lost and also to Florida (in October, that Gators team was still very formidable). And our recruiting has only improved under stoops, and I think that continues even if Brohm goes to UL. Which leads me to a follow up question - what do you make of the future for Louisville if they beat up on a weak SEC and go, say,8-4 every year but lose to UK? UK doesn’t really recruit Ohio the way we used to, but we’ve locked down the state of Ky and gone south into GA and TN. Is there a “curve” for being in the SEC? Thanks in advance for answering, and remember, when y’all are designing the next playoff format, keep some big bowl games for us non-national champion contenders to look forward to ;)

Love the podcast feed guys. I genuinely get great enjoyment out of hearing Andy and Ari (and guests) debate everything from food to realignment. One thing though… as a Michigan state fan I was a tad disappointed that the “state of the program”episode didn’t have more conversation about the 2022 season. I totally respect all opinions about my favorite school… but I though the conversation got too focused on ‘can they win a national title’ and not on the team going into 2022 (like some of the other school breakdowns). Still a proud listener and love the pod!

Big Ten Scheduling
On the latest Andy and Ari episode you mentioned the Big Ten could go with a 3-5 scheduling model allow each school to keep three permanent rivals while accomplishing the round robin with the remaining schools in just an 8-game schedule. This seems like an excellent opportunity for the Big Ten to experiment with a 3-5+1 model - which is not a math equation - the +1 would be keeping the week prior to the Big Ten Championship open so they could have the top four play what would essentially be regular season semi final games with the winners advancing to the championship (I have to think the leagues new TV partners would love this). The remaining teams could get paired up any number of ways - try to avoid rematches - lower teams against lower teams trying to make sure at least one gets to bowl eligibility - etc. But to me the best aspect would be the semifinal games - maybe with some rules regarding seeding to try and avoid rematches if possible - if a rematch gets made for the championship so be it as they earned their way back in - semis could also help eliminate the immediate rematch between two teams in a championship coming off their rivalry game (if there is an immediate rematch at least it’s in a semifinal game if it can’t be avoided). Thanks - always enjoy the shows John Spokane WA

5 Star show about God knows what…
I added this show to my list at the start of the Riley reign at SC. Not really sure what it’s about. There college football talk, dating advise, weight loss tips, fast food rankings that go more in depth then the recruit discussions, and that’s ok. A question for Ari & Andy, with your new found interest in Premier League soccer, will you each pick a team from the newly promoted to root for in the upcoming season? Nottingham forest, Bournemouth, or Fulham. Rooting for a top side to win the league is not nearly as much fun as rooting for your side to stave off relegation. Keep up the great work!

This one of my favorite shows, and I always love a good tangent! The food and travel content is always welcome. And I do want to let you know, there are a lot of fans my age (61) who have no problem with NIL for the players. Anyone who has known someone who played D1 football, knows how it was in the 80s. SEC Scheduling
How amazing would this be if the league goes to the 3-6 format for football scheduling: The schools and the conference pick the first permanent opponent- your traditional rivalry games like Alabama-Auburn, Ole Miss-Miss St, etc. the next two permanent games, however, are picked live on television by the coaches in a snake draft. Think of the drama and storylines that would come from Alabama picking Vandy, or Texas picking A&M. Do this every 4 years and you have the southern version of the World Cup Draw.

My go to CFB podcast
Ari and Andy – I love the show. One subject where we disagree is college football playoff expansion. I know it is inevitable but I don’t think the additional games will add as much excitement as people are hoping. One thing I’ve never heard discussed is when the games will actually be played. The NFL plays on Monday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday during December and onwards. The pro schedule is expanded and likely to gobble up even more time slots. College football does not schedule head to head against the NFL. So are we looking at Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday playoff games? Does that dampen your excitement even a little? As a fan who would plan to attend it definitely adds a wrinkle. Thanks for doing your show! I don’t miss an episode. Definitely love the side chats about food.

SDSU’s potential as a Power 5 program
I absolutely love the show and listen to it on my drive to work like I used to listen to Stern on my drive to high school back in the day. Thanks for the great work and highly entertaining content! Here is my question: Dear Andy & Ari, What do you think of San Diego State’s potential as a football program should they be invited to a Power 5 league and finally shed the G5 stigma? Many people aren’t aware that with the university’s purchase of the former 166 acre Qualcomm stadium site in 2020 they are opening a brand new $310M stadium in 3 months, will soon expand from 35,000 to 50,000 students making them the largest university in California, are usually in the top 10 of most applied to colleges in the nation, 8th largest city in the US and #27 media market with no NFL competition or competition from other colleges (Unlike Florida, California is very segmented and LA and Orange Counties are kind of like a different state). . To get Ari to pay more attention to this question I should also mention that their proximity to fertile recruiting grounds is phenomenal, signees would be living in ideal Southern California weather year-round and a scenic drive on the Pacific Coast Highway is only a few minutes away. Bonus question: what high school did Ari attend in Arizona? Thanks!!!!

Ari’s Math “Riddle”
You each paid $9 (including tip) but only $8.33 (& 1/3¢) ea. for the tent rental. You each tipped the guy 66 and 2/3 cents. Initial payment: $30 ($10 ea.) Refund: $1 ea. New Total (tent + tip): $27 ($9 ea.) Tip: $2 (66¢ & 2/3¢ ea.) Tent rental: $25 ($8.33 & 1/3¢ each) Payment/person: $9 ($8.333 + 66.6¢) I think y’all were confused about the tip and tent rental being rolled into the $9.

Ear Wax & 20 points in the NBA
I like your podcast when you talk about college football. However, 10:31 seconds on ear wax and removing it, come on!!! Then with 16 something remaining we start in on a tweet about some off the street geek scoring 20 in an NBA game. Then Aliens and I had to bake at that point. I think there is more college football out there which could be discussed. If everyone else loves this content then I’ll shut up and just drop the pod cast. Every minute doesn’t have to be about college football but ear wax, street geeks scoring 20, aliens, light bulbs, alone in the universe. Gotta go cant listen anymore. I’m writing this and I I like your show normally just wanted to let you both know this fact. Thanks much Tomj

Personal life stuff is way too long
This show can be really good and entertaining when they keep the personal life stuff down to a minimum. Most pods keep the small talk that has nothing to do about the episode to a minimum; an episode today that was ostensibly about the Auburn coach and recruiting legitimately had the first 28 minutes talking about unrelated nonsense about cars and babies.

Almost perfect CFB podcast feed
Andy and Ari are a hilarious combo. They don’t take themselves too seriously and still find a way to give top notch CFB analysis. Really enjoy the SEC pod with Ubben as well. The One True Pod hosts have such great chemistry. It’s worth a listen every week even if you couldn’t care less about the Big 12. I’ll get back on the Power Auer train the day Felder is no longer co-hosting. Nicole is awesome but Felder is holding her back big time. Andy is just an SEC slappy. He thinks he’s a lot funnier than he is. Ari is a recruiting/OSU slappy and submissive to anything Andy says. He’s got the backbone of a jellyfish. Felder is roughhhhhhh
Andy and Ari are phenomenal. Good balanced content. Nicole is pretty good, but sometimes loses the plot on subjects. Felder is a rough listen. He goes on ridiculous rants/tangents and Nicole spends half the podcast trying to reel him in. He is negative on practically every topic and doesn’t give any perspective on content that he’s personally uninterested in.

Please get David trained on the microphone better!
David Ubben’s volume going up and down has to get better. He goes from yelling into the mic to mumbling and trailing off, all in one sentence. I love the pod but this makes it really hard to stick with. I’m not going to stop listening, but you deserve the honest feedback. I like what he has to say, but I cringe when I have to adjust my volume up and down just to listen. Thanks and keep up the rest of the great content.

I’ve had it. I’m out on this.
After the most epic week of college football in years they spent 40 minutes discussing two games (one of which they had already posted another full pod on earlier in the day). 10 minutes discussing Mark Stoops future job opportunities, and barely discussing the UK game itself, and 5 minutes on some stupid bet they made while barely discussing the game the bet was on. Commercial breaks every 10 minutes. Unless you’re a fan of the Bama, OSU, Oklahoma, Georgia, or Clemson don’t bother.

Mostly Good, Some Really Bad
Ari, Andy, and Nicole are all really, really great. I look forward to hearing them every week. This Michael Felder guy is the worst though. After an incredibly exciting first weekend, we have to hear a whole episode of him complaining that it was too much work.. have some humility and realize this is a lot of sports fans’ dream jobs, and that we want to hear about the games on a podcast that is supposed to be about the games. And then his tirade about “well technically” the jacksonville state game wasn’t a hail mary. No one cares. A CFB podcaster should know the X’s and O’s but realize fans would rather hear about how great the play was rather than how it technically wasn’t a hail mary. The smartest guy in the room shtick gets old fast. Also, this podcast has way too long of ads. The artifact one is a tough listen and considering it’s on every week I don’t see why it can’t be shortened at least half the time.. Don’t let my venting talk you out of the podcast though. Ari and Andy have great banter and their bets are hilarious. They also really know their football. Nicole also brings a great attitude and knows what people want to hear.

Really good, some suggested tweaks
This is going to sound more critical than it is. Like Andy, the podcast, his Twitter feed, and writing really well. Some issues that make it a 4 instead of a 5 star. - I know it’s his show, but Andy tends to interrupt - Ari often goes on his own tangents that are unrelated to Andy’s question to him - So many long commercials. So many. Good for the show, I’m sure it’s great for business, but there are so many. And they’re long. If it weren’t for the skip ahead button, this would be a tough listen. - I don’t listen to the other episodes where someone other than Andy hosts

Felder has no idea what he’s talking about
I know this is technically the Andy Staples Show but for whatever reason Power Auer comes through here. After listening to the Notre Dame preview, I’m not sure Nicole or Felder has ever watched them. In what world did Notre Dame fans get upset with Ian Book for untimely picks? He had 3 all of last season. Felder saying when was the last time we talked about Notre Dame having a pass rush? Gee, I don’t know, how about 2019 with Julian Okwara and Khalid Khareem? And those guys with Jerry Tillery the year before? And guess what? This year is the deepest defensive line Mike Elston has ever had. There are at least 8 guys if not more who will play a ton. I assume you’ve never heard of MTA or Kurt Hinish, who got to Sam Howell time and time again last year and shut UNC out in the second half. Without Kyle Hamilton playing. UNC returns their entire offensive line. Great. It was the 5th worst line in the country last year. I’m barely even going to touch on the offensive side of the ball but no mention of Braden Lenzy and Kevin Austin just shows you did absolutely no research. Avery Davis will play a leadership role but will be a bit player for the Irish. With as much as you talked about him, I would think the only play you saw of the Irish last year was the last drive against Clemson. You also spoke of Brian Kelly like this is still 2010. If Paul Chryst (who has the personality of a brick wall) is “personable,” then Brian Kelly is Chris Rock. Further, it’s Tommy Rees who owns the relationship with Coan these days, and you failed to mention there is tons of room for him to grow in year 2 as a coordinator. Sorry for ranting, but the lack of research here was just astounding. I guess it’s not your fault, you were probably just at a fall wedding.

Dump this podcast b/c of Nicole Auerbach
Andy Staples is a great journalist. His “friend” Nicole Auerbach is the opposite, she is no journalist, she’s a “cancel culture” activist who wishes Micah Parsons were dead instead of alive (just ask the publication Penn Live). When you subscribe to this podcast you get a Nicole Auerbach podcast sent to you each week. I want nothing to do with someone who prefers dead people over alive ones, and because of that, I’m giving this podcast 1 star & unsubscribing.

Good but needs improvement
Staples is great, Auerbach is solid only hear a hint of bias because of her big ten network. National media should be different and this is where Wasserman and Felder are poor in this space. They routinely show biases from their past in a pronounced way. The gold standard is people like Reece Davis, if you didn’t know you cannot tell he is an alum from Alabama, national media should takes notes on that and do some self scouting.

Fix your ads!
The ad reads on this podcast (and all of the athletics podcasts for that matter) are HORRIBLE. They dropped ads mid-sentence TWICE during this podcast. How hard is it to just pause in between topics so that the editors can slip it in the ads that sound somewhat organic. Love the podcast and the content, but cluelessness on the ad reads drives me nuts, especially compared to how well the Barstool podcasts weave their ads organically into the content.
