Wonderful podcast!
I have been listening to “That Sounds Fun” for a year now and I enjoy every episode that is out. But the Advent series, OMGosh!!! I am enjoying it so much and look forward to each new episode every weekday. Great job y’all!!! I look forward to next year’s episodes!

Disappointed
I’m such an avid listener of TSF and typically love everything about it. However, lately I feel like the theology that is discussed on the podcast is not great at all. I kind of let it go and just listened anyways, but the advent series has been my final straw. I spent $30 on the advent guidebook and feel like it’s just fluffy questions with almost no Biblical foundation, besides 1 verse a day. The questions are all about self and in no way point me to Jesus, who advent is all about. The advent podcast episodes are just stories with maybe 1 biblical principle, not to mention how crazy it is that in a 10 minute podcast there are 2-3 ads. None of this is helping me make this season more about Jesus - it feels like it’s made to be all about me or the things I should buy/do. My overall feeling is that Annie is being promoted more than Jesus, and for that reason I’m not only not doing the study that I bought but I may have to stop listening all together.

Big fan but a lil disappointed:(
I am a BIG FAN of this podcast and have been listening for years, maybe 5 years at this point?? I was super excited for the Advent series and it’s SO GOOD so far! EXCEPT a little frustrated and disappointed in the amount of ads. I know you need to make money still and understand that but three ads in one 8-10 minute DEVOTIONAL is pretty frustrating especially the one RIGHT in the middle. Like literally, you’re getting to a good part and BAM! AD! …not the best format for sure

I have been listening to Annie F. Downs, “That Sounds Fun”, podcast for a while now and I feel like we are best friends, it is so true how hard it is to make and keep friends these days, so I pop in my ear buds and listen to my podcasts, of course Annie is definitely one of them and I feel like I am in on conversations and I have learned so much about many topics. I bought Annie’s devotional, “100 Days to Brave”, and gave it to a new baby christian friend of mine, I pray she gets as much out of it as I did. Just wanted you to know you do make a difference!!! In fact I want to write a book so I can be interviewed by you lol. Keep up the good work!!! BTW I hope to start my own podcast via Anchor because of you, I heard about it on your podcast. Struggling to keep listening
I usually love listening to this podcast every week. Recently I’ve noticed certain topics seeming to be pushed (nothing wrong with having a focus, but it’s turning into “if you are a Christian like me, you should agree with x/y/z”). Also, it’s uncomfortable to hear Annie c o n s t a n t l y remind the listeners AND guests that she hasn’t won a Dove award - any time someone is on that has won an award, she makes it a point to talk about how she lost/hasn’t won one yet. Yet, she also flips to the “I don’t need awards to validate my work.” It’s really disappointing to no longer be a listener. Instead of getting excited for a new episode, I would think, okay, what’s she doing to complain about today that she doesn’t have, or what is she going to push because it’s PC? The show has had some great guests that have brought great encouragement, but the good episodes no longer outweigh the bad.

I love listening to your podcast and the joy that you find in so many things every single show! I particularly enjoyed your recent interview with Alexa PenaVega! I love their story and the impact that they’re making on so many people! My daughter has been a major fan of Carlos since she was a little girl and has followed along their story since the early days of watching the Big Time Rush show. She has followed their story, their life of faith, marriage, becoming parents and more! I love that their story gives opportunities for all of us, especially young adults, see what I godly marriage can look like! Especially one where those involved are under the spotlight! Annie does such a fabulous job embracing and talking about all the things going on in our world currently, yet doing so in a way that leaves us joyful and hopeful about the future. God knew what I needed with this podcast!
Life is JUST SO HARD right now, and my soul has been worn out. While I’ve followed the show for awhile, I’ve not really been listening. Randomly the other day, I turned on the episode with Kristian Stanfill…..it was the God whisper I needed. I laughed and cried, and was reminded to truly let go, and let God. Yeah, yeah, yeah
I really used to love this podcast and never missed an episode. Now I find myself letting episodes build up only to never listen to them. The constant use of the word yeah is so annoying to my ears. It’s very distracting and takes me out of the interviews. I can’t count how many times I haven’t finished an episode because Annie has said yeah to many times.

Phenomenal and fun
This podcast is awesome! Annie offers thought provoking questions and reflections as she engages with a wide variety of Christian voices. Her guests range from authors to musicians, business owners, and people like me with just a dream in their heart and just beginning to pursue it. I love how these conversations seem like I’m just joining two people in a conversation over coffee. I have grown so much by listening to these conversations and then subsequently reading the guests’ books, listening to their music, following them on social media and welcoming more positive voices and Jesus-centered perspective into my life and into my newsfeed. Throughout an episode of the podcast I laugh, cry, take notes, and become inspired. Highly recommend!

So authentic and so in love with the Lord
I knew about Annie F Downs but I didn’t really start listening to her until she started Annie and Eddie Keep Talking. She is committed to understanding others and loving others. She is intelligent and is one of the hardest working Podcasters out there. She genuinely loves people and she is so good at sharing Jesus by going in the back door. I don’t listen to a ton of podcasts but I can listen to Annie all day everyday. This is my go to for long drives and short drives and everything in between. I was confused when they were talking about the 2 yr old I thought she was a sister to Shelby, but then they said she lives in another city.🤔 The link to the kayak would have been appreciated to some. I stumbled onto this podcast during a time in my life that I desperately needed a community of believers that would challenge my faith, but also challenged me to laugh and find joy again. Every time I listen to this podcast even the ones I don’t think I’ll get much out of….I always gain a nugget of knowledge and truth. Sometimes I just have to stop the podcast while I’m driving because I want to note everything down and I can’t! I’ve messed up cooking because I had to write something down that was being said. I know I could always go back it’s a Podcast for goodness sake, but sometimes I feel like I’m in the room right there as Annie is talking and don’t want to stop the conversation LOL I’m not a reader but boy when Annie brings up a book to read she has never failed. I try to get them on audible when possible. This podcast covers so many topics you never know what will be coming up next. I look forward to the conversations….definitely not stale. Fun and educational
Annie is a great interviewer; so much fun, and asks great questions. One of Annie’s gifts is showing us the tension between living with hope while also dealing with hard things. Not only does she teach this through what she says, but she interviews guests who help us with the same thing. That Sounds Fun is a great mix of interesting conversation, spiritual and biblical insight, invitation and challenge. In each episode Annie brings her joy and vulnerability, her wisdom and humility to inspire us to continue seeking the heart of God. Every time I listen I learn something new and am challenged to go deeper with God. This is my favorite podcast and I can’t recommend it enough!

…I know, really bold statement, but I say it unapologetically. I’ve been listening to Annie(wherever possible-LIVE and VIP meet ups are HIGHLY recommended), but her podcast gets me through those in between times. She’ll introduce you to friends that you didn’t know you needed to meet and are a better human for it. I promise! A little sneaky Jesus is an absolute bonus.

Annie is the “real deal.” That is what I love about her. She doesn’t leave out the hard and uncomfortable “stuff” but models well how to live in a fallen world. I’ve listened to the That Sounds Fun podcast for a couple of years now. Annie is the best. She makes me laugh and cry. My first podcast
TSF was the first podcast I ever got into. I LOVED it! I listened to every episode as it came out and back listened to one’s before my time. Lately, it does feel like the show is just a commercial for people’s books. Episode after episode seems to just be about someone coming on and promoting their book. My favorite episodes are when topics are discussed without trying to sell us something. The Indigenous Peoples episodes, the singleness episode, the fasting episode, Mike Kelsey’s episodes are the ones I’ve loved lately. I still give it 5 stares bc the quality is great and I hope for TSF to get back to meaningful conversations, not just proportional opportunities.

Important part of my week
Love listening to Annie and her friends. Not only are they fun conversations, but I also learn something new every time that deepens my walk with Jesus. Update: Honestly, what was a show I listened to every week has turned into a show that’s a hit or miss for me. I am grateful for several of her episodes, like the ones on singleness, fasting, and Indigenous Peoples Day, but most of the episodes I pass on. I don’t know what what specifically has changed, but I would say that quality over quantity and it just feels like too much content spread too thin, ————————- A podcast episode with Annie feels like hanging in a living room with a couple of good friends hashing out the good, bad, and challenging in life. You walk away from that hangout full of nuggets of wisdom, laughs, and joy. Check it out!!

Good + Positive Fun
Update: I, like others who have reviewed, have truly struggled with this podcast lately. What used to be a non-miss show for me has become an afterthought show. The big miss for me was Dave Hollis. I have no issue having him as a guest or even airing the show days after his Instagram outburst. What I did have an issue with is not acknowledging the elephant in the room. In her intro to the episode there was no mention of what had just transpired. I found it telling that Annie didn’t promote that episode in the same way she usually promotes a podcast episode - nothing in stories and no Instagram post about it. That right there showed an awareness but was making a very conscious decision not to address it. I’m highly disappointed. ——————————————————————————— I’ve been listening to the TSF podcast for almost a year. I’ve become a real fan of Annie and definitely feel we are friends. Maybe it’s because we both live in Nashville?? Who knows. But she has this way of making me feel at peace with who I am, my struggles and with my insecurities. I respect her for trying to make her show more diverse and for being so transparent about how she hasn’t been in the past. Even when I find myself disagreeing with things a guest says I still appreciate their point of view. It’s evident Annie puts so much of herself into this podcast and most weeks a new episode ends up being the highlight of my day.

You can’t not love Annie
I have been following Annie since her very first book I stumbled in years ago at the book store on National Coffee Day. Something I adore about the podcasts is how she says “our friend”, “my friend”, talking about all of us listening. The simple phrase makes me feel so welcomed, like I’m being talked to directly, and acknowledged. She pushes me to become better in my walk with Jesus. What an honor it is that she shared her talent with the world.

Hit and miss
I used to never miss an episode of this show. These days I let them build up and end up not listening at all. I’ve heard too many episode with people who’ve written mediocre books. Not everyone should write a book. The podcast often feels like we’ve ventured into evangelical influencer territory, and I’m just not interested in that world. I’ll still listen to the episodes with guests I’m interested in and skip the rest.

Lack of Accountability
I’ve been a huge fan of Annie for several years. Preordered the books, attended 2 live shows as VIP, and been a faithful listener. However, this has to be said. Annie routinely says she only has friends, or people she wants to be friends with on the podcast. She has spoken out, more than once, on what a privilege it is that people listen to her show, and that she takes seriously who her guests are and what message they will project into her followers’ ears. However, I have constantly seen a lack of response when one of these guests gets into hot water, or maybe shows their character isn’t someone she would have initially endorsed. I don’t expect every podcaster to defend anyone they have ever had on. However, Annie is the one that SAYS she only has friends on. She has cultivated such a community, I expect a “hey guys sorry I misled you here” or “I don’t condone so&so’s behavior” A list of examples I am thinking of -John Crist (got weird and creepy with an underage fan) -Dave Hollis (had his girlfriend walk naked in the background of an Instagram live….come on Annie, you HAVE SAID you don’t agree with living w/ a man before you’re married, let alone whatever pre-marital sex is going on that his girlfriend could accidentally walk into a room naked in which he was streaming) - Matthew West I still get value from the show, but have lost some respect for Annie as a person. You can be apolitical and private without cowering when faced with the realities of some of your guests.

Sometimes I love this podcast and find it incredibly encouraging. Sometimes, I find it completely hard to relate to as Annie speaks so directly and personally to her author/speaker friends about their work. Long time listener, first time reviewer. Oops! I’ve listened to Annie for years and have enjoyed her as an influence in my life. These episodes range from deeply serious note taking episodes to wildly funny and laugh out loud episodes. Has Annie changed in the last couple of years? Yep, she has! I’m thankful for that because so have I. She’s been doing the work to be more inclusive, have diverse voices (whether that’s racially diverse, or even diversity represented on the faith and political spectrum) and I’ve enjoyed that. What a better place to listen to a guest that I don’t agree with… while knowing it’s safe to listen because Annie is directing the conversation. I can’t recommend this podcast enough and can’t wait to keep HAVING FUN 🎉🎉

I would like to echo what JenJen12381 said. Annie’s voice is just not one I can listen to or trust anymore. She is a seemingly kind individual and her conversations can feel very relatable. However, there have been too many guests that have a very progressive view of Christianity. Would recommend Alisa Childers or The Bible Thinker podcast if you are interested in solid theology.

Coach Richt episode!
Loves this episode! Some of my most memorable times with UGA football was hanging out at the “juice cart” with Mrs. Katherine during the games. They both were wonderful examples for me! I still have the photo album they gave to us student athletic trainers along with the gift cards form Christmas that year. And not many Head coaches would be ok with you just walking into their office….surprised him (by accident) dropping off a thank you card.

I started listening to this podcast in January when my husband (in the military) left town for a few weeks. A Gem !
Annie, I just found you about 6 months ago. I picked up your book That Sounds Fun when it came out. Read it in one sitting. So good. After I read it a friend asked me to paint with her. Normally I would have said no, I am not artistic. BUT! I heard you saying…. You don’t have to be an expert…. Just have fun. Well I painted with her that day and a joy came over me and it hasn’t left. People are loving my work. I painted one the other day and named it “Heaven Can Wait.” I sent a picture of it to my daughter and she said she was obsessed with it. So now she has something from her Mama that I created. 3 more people want me to paint for them and I have only been doing this a few months. But mostly it brings me comfort and a sense of calm. I am trying to say yes more to life. All because of your words. Thank you for being YOU and bringing LIGHT to this dark world. I absolutely adore you. No longer fun for this listener
I loved listening to That Sounds Fun for years. I appreciated Annie’s understanding of Scripture as well as being teachable. However, I do feel like in the last year, I’ve come to want to listen less and less to the episodes. I’m not a fan of the enneagram so I skipped almost all of June. And while another reviewer commented that it’s more conservative, I find that it’s just as progressive. Annie’s books have helped me tremendously in the last few years (especially Remember God) during some hard times in my marriage. Reading her words made me feel known by someone. Her podcast doesn’t. And that’s doesn’t sound fun for me. I enjoy listening to and reading diverse voices but we have to be careful of which ones we allow in. Unfortunately, Annie’s voice is one I can no longer continue to listen to.

Breaking Free from Body Shame
I Love Annie’s podcast!! Long time listener first time…. reviewer. These podcasts are always spot on in subject matter and God’s timing. For instance: during 2019 I lost both of my parents right before Covid. the stress of the estate and losing both parents unexpectedly in a short amount of time, the stress of trying to work and do all the out of town arrangements, no time to work out and eating on the fly has caused me to gain about 15 pounds pushing me to a whopping 140. I had my yearly check up exam yesterday and on my paperwork my doctor said that I was overweight. The recommendation list for “fixing” this was a mile long. I felt humiliated and angry. I’m not saying losing weight is a bad thing but I was treated like I had some terminal disease. Hanging my head, I got in my car to come to work. My #1 recommended podcast
Even though I’ve listened to this podcast for a couple of years, this is my first review. Today’s episode with Haley Watkins was mind-blowing for me. I’m also a 9 on the enneagram and it felt like she was inside my mind and body as I listened to the descriptions of where I go in stress and calmness. I especially was confirmed about going into 3 mode as I lead worship or teach piano. I had always wondered why I sometimes can be bold but mostly I’m laid back. Simply the best
I absolutely adore this show! I started listening to the Bob Goff episode that released years ago at a time when I really needed joy, fun, and—most importantly—a mentor. I had no idea that all these years later, AFD, her guests, and her team would become that for me. One of my go to podcasts
I became a regular podcast listener during the pandemic in 2020. Annie’s is one of the best. She is smart, loyal, down-to-earth and fun! You really feel like she’s a friend. I’ve learned so much from this podcast that has helped my Christian walk. I’ve even went back in years past to hear Annie interview some of my favorite singers, writers etc and learned more about them. Her newest book That Sounds Fun has impacted my life too. How I wish I’d given myself the permission to be an amateur. How I wish I’d given my boys that permission. But I can only move forward now. Annie has helped me through her example learn to be myself and be ok with that.
