Instrumental in My Development as a Dev
Wes and Scott’s tireless effort to create one of the most interesting , palatable, and informative podcasts is a huge resource for anyone interested in computer science. Their discussions provide a depth of knowledge on not only front end engineering but full stack engineering in general. Their supper club episodes bring a new exciting wrinkle to an already thriving podcast. Thank you so much for all the episodes you have created.

Syntax is the best web dev pod cast out there
I been listening to Syntax.FM for over a year now and i couldn’t be more satisfied with their content. They do a great job explaining topics and very pleasurable to listen to them. Keep up the great work.

Like the content; hate the intro
The intros are really loud and obnoxious, and it seems to get worse with time. They are overwhelming if you have a sensory processing issue caused by ADHD, autism, etc. I can’t have this podcast in a passive playlist while doing other things, since I have to consciously prepare for and try to skip the various introductions. As a result, I just don’t listen much anymore. I like the somewhat silly nature of the brand but wish it manifested in a way that was not physically painful for me. Update: Unsubscribed since they’re only getting worse and don’t seem to care.

Great stuff. When is the next episode of how to build a website?!
Really appreciating this quality podcast. It is great to hear programmers talk aboutDevelopment and a knowledgeable hound approachable way. I am new to frontend development, and just listened to the first episode of “how to build a website”, and I am really hoping the follow-up one comes out soon. I would love to hear you guys talk about setting up a domain, server, database and everything else.

Great show but ad copy is over the top
Please stop putting ads in the episode descriptions and put the actual description in instead. It’s much more accessible for people who want to decide which episodes to listen to instead of reading the same ad copy on each show.

Thank you both so much for taking the time to create this podcast. As a developer I sometimes struggle with picking up new concepts. I’m also very much an auditory learner. If I’m struggling with something, I can count on an episode of yours to help me process what I am learning/have learned. You all have an amazing way of breaking down stuff so simply. I also really appreciate the time you take to discuss preference, pros and cons etc.

Aspiring Developer At 25
As an aspiring developer going back to school at 25 and self-teaching myself full stack MERN development, I can say that I love hearing from Wes and Scott on different topics in the tech community. I think it’s difficult to find that connection between coding and a work/ life balance that’s genuine and these guys bring that which I’m grateful for. Keep up the good work! - Michael S.

Episode 190, “Migrating, Deploying, and Hosting WordPress,” gives a great overview of the challenges and opportunities around deploying WordPress as a web application. They did not mention the best WebOps platform for developing, hosting, migrating and deploying WordPress (and Drupal), Pantheon!! Keep up the great work guys!!

Perfect balance
This podcast is such a great resource for “to know about X”. I heard it for the first time as a recommendation when I requested a talk topic about SVG to my local meetup. And listening from the first episode ever since. Love Wes’s JavaScript30 but didn’t know he also do a podcast. This is such a great way to not only grasp a concept of totally new concept but also find a new aspect of one that I (thought) already know. Such a great balance - not too deep, not too shallow. Even love ”sick picks”, plugs, and sponsors. Super realistic and definitely relevant.

Good Dev talk bad intro...
Good: lots of great and useful information, even about things that may not be totally germane to front end web development. Generally helpful, good spirited and easy going about their opininons on JS, React etc... I'd say its most useful for intermediate level developers... My only gripe would be the shocky jocky intro sound board stuff. If you like mainstream radio morning shows w/ the "Crazy Doctor" and "Tha Gator", you'll be hyped, but personally, I fire up the podcast hit mute until about :20-30 in, and enjoy...

So much info in each episode!
I started listening to Syntax in January 2019, and let me tell you, it’s so shock full of information! Love the pace of the conversation between the hosts, love that they share up to date info in web technologies, things that I used to hear about only when they were outdated already, and that they share a lot of good stuff on soft skills, too. Knowing that both of them are highly successful web developers that don’t have a Computer Science degree gives me hope on my own web dev journey, as well!

Don't believe everything
Good: This podcast is great as an introduction to technologies: next.js, Jenkins, basic knowledge of the web development landscape. Bad: This podcast is misleading on how easy it is to learn everything you need to know and to get employment. Scott and Wes have done amazingly well for themselves but understand that they are selling their success as a brand. If you wanted to get started as a web developer, be aware that it is extremely difficult. It's doable but you're going to suffer for it. There are no shortcuts.

So Great for Front-End Developers New and Experienced
My new favorite podcast. I look forward to each new episode because I know I'm probably going to learn something new about the front-end developers industry as it pertains to javascript and other related topics. I especially love their "shameless-plugs" and their "tasty-treats" (recommendations). They are entertaining, real people who explain things well enough they are able to go into some technical detail. They've helped me understand so much as a new developer!

I’m new to Development and I love to put syntax.fm in the background whenever I’m working on non-development tasks. It’s entertaining and informative and allows me to stay connected to dev concepts when I have to work on other things. My favorite thing about syntax.fm so far has been that Wes and Scott are very friendly and encouraging to beginners. It helps me feel comfortable with my skill level and hopeful about the career in getting into. Thank you so much Wes Bos and Scott Tolinski for the work you put into syntax.fm! 🙂

Great Podcast
Great podcast, Scott and Wes do a great job at breaking down technical content and making it applicable. Exactly what I was looking for!
A few years ago I began getting more interested in podcasts (as did the rest of the US). I was looking everywhere for a great software development podcast that was a good mix of technical and high level concepts. Syntax was the absolute perfect podcast for this. The guys go in depth where necessary/applicable, mentioning specific lines of code or example implementation in a way that is easy to follow along. They also talk high level about a number of concepts and their place in the web dev community. These guys are the best, and what they’ve made is a positive impact to the software community.

Fantastic Real World Tips
This show is awesome. Most tech podcasts these days seem to be nothing more than shameless hour long ads of random marginally related SaaS platforms begging for Beta users. Not Syntax. Wes and Scott just gush practical, real world tips and tricks any real UI dev will greatly appreciate. These guys helped me rediscover why I went into UI dev in the first place: build cool stuff for real people and have fun doing it.

New favorite tech podcast!
I saw Wes & Scott live at JAMstack and was thoroughly entertained. Dug in to their archive and listened to the Accessibility show. Really liked that they treated the subject so respectfully. Knowing neither were experts, they researched it extremely well and hit all the most essential points, then got into the many tools and resources available. Most of all they're just a joy to listen to. I'll be doing many more shows!

Absolutely boosted my career as a freelancer
My head was totally underwater. I love to learn, but website development was something that was beating me. The concepts of a front end, backend, database, JavaScript frameworks... it was all elusive! No matter how many videos I watched it wasn’t clicking! I didn’t understand how they all relate together, and I didn’t understand how to know what I needed to start making a website. I am a Junior studying Computer Science at K-State, but there is so much developer-specific lingo flying around the internet I had no idea what to do! In addition, most of the posts are over 3 years old and I was seeing how much the industry had changed already! I had also heard that I shouldn’t use jquery, but that is what just about every Overflow solution was!! Ahhh!!! Listening to this podcast TOTALLY changer EVERYTHING! Wes and Scott are super fun guys to listen to in general, but their vast field experience and understanding of the discipline blew me away. In one day I probably listened to 7 episodes (at 1.5-2 times speed 😁) at this point I feel like I have such a better grasp of how all of web development links wtb eachother. I have a up-to-date source or learning with their respective tutorial courses. I have new vision for my career as a freelancer and I can speak to my fiancée with fresh assurity that what I aspire to do is possible. I listened to the episode about their lives last night and they stated how they each loved to learn and problem solve and talked about it in the exact way I go about it. I am utterly convicted this the career for me and they have shed so much light on that! Wow! I can’t speak enough about this podcast!

Best tech podcast
I have listened to a number of tech podcasts, I find this one better in that the advice they give is from a practical point of view. They are both online educators and maintain their own business websites so they have experienced a lot of the pain and the joy of web development. Much of their advice is opionated, but that is fine because they acknowledge that and provide the reasons for their decisions.

Must Listen Each & Every Week!
Scott and Wes really know their stuff and take their time to produce a high quality podcast. As a programmer I really enjoy learning about new things like GraphQL and Gatsby. I do a pretty good job of keeping up with all the new tools available to us but its really hard to do. That's why I appreciate learning new things on the podcast that I wouldn't have known about it without it. As someone who also creates content for YouTube and courses I really love the behind the scenes stuff like what equipment they are using and how they create content. I would love to see more content like this that could help me take my hobby into a profession. I really can't say enough about the podcast and it's a must listen each and every week. Keep up the great work guys!

Could easily be 5 stars if...
1. We're interested in your insights on web development. Personal anecdotes and non web-dev stories here and there are totally fine. 20 minute long asides and even multiple FULL episodes about your personal lives really water down the content so much as to be -- dare I say it -- not very tasty. 2. Kill the soundboard. No really --Just kill it. It's embarrassing for you and painful for your listeners.

Great treats and tid-bits for web devs
I've been following both Wes and Scott online for a couple of years now, Scott through Level Up Tutorials, and Wes through his online courses (I found him through his ReactForBeginners course). Both of them are funny and bring a lot of "real world" experience to the table which is something that I don't feel many other podcasts of this type do, so it's very refreshing. I think what I like most about this podcast is how casual it is... It's literally just like you're sitting at the table with some web dev friends talking about new cool things that you've found online. I hope they keep the podcast going as well as keep releasing new courses on their websites. Keep it up!

Shame on fan boys who rated the podcast 5 stars before they even listened to it. Sick Picks is a nice feature of the show. Subject matter is well explained and hosts are very knowledgable.

Awesome podcast
As someone who has taken all of Wes Bos's courses i'm happy to see he is going to be doing something more regular that i can keep up with what he is doing. Great course and Scott has A LOT to offer as well. It's cool to see both sides of a developers thought process.

Javascript: ES6 => Beautiful Functional Code.
I have not listened to these podcasts yet, but I will. Wes' s Javascript30 is a great, intermediate level class where one gets to create or add to thirty javascript/web/css based programming examples. I think that he and a few others (Brian Lonsdorf (Prof Frisby) in particular) are taking ES6 javascript into functional spaces henceforth reserved for Haskell and Scala. More power to you Wes, and I wish you and yours great happiness.

Syntax syntax syntax
Everything you could ever want to know about syntax. It is an all inclusive guide to linguistics and the arrangement of words and phrases that make syntax. When to use semicolons! We got ya covered. Whitespace! We have over 700 hours dedicated to that alone. Tabs and spaces! Oh yeah we get into it. It's a no holds bar, deep dive into everything syntax. Every letter, every character, every byte and bit gets analyzed, reanalyzed, reordered and scrutinized in this podcast. If you love syntax (who doesn't) your going to love this podcast. Grab your family and friends and buckle yourselves in as the world of syntax gets blasted into your ear holes.

Really good info for web developers
I've been a fan of Wes's courses for a while so I was excited when he announced this podcast. The first episode was awesome - it's a general overview of ways to make React easier to use and manage. I'm familiar with a lot of the stuff they mentioned, but I also learned about a few new things I'm definitely going to have to try now. Both Wes and Scott have great personalities and they're both super knowledgable about web development. Really looking forward to hearing more!

Helpful and entertaining
Podcasts shouldn't feel like a chore. We are all short of time, so I enjoy a podcast that teaches me heaps and has me laughing. Bos and Tolinski (BoTo? ToBo?) have a banter that's enjoyable to be included on but they don't go on tangents that I can't follow. They're good at being buddies without making you feel you're outside of an inside joke.
