Meh
13min if reading definitions from the dsm. 10 min of ads. 7 min hearing the stories of the survivors. Maybe if it was a conversation with a professional and then hearing the stories we could get some more insight, but when it’s just hearing someone’s article or an expert from the DSM it loses merit and engagement I think. The theme song is also getting played more and more and it’s getting more and more terrible. So many ads. The more I listen the lower the rating.

Obsessed with this podcast!
The host is so professional and treats every story with the sensitivity it deserves. I’ve learned so much listening to these stories and the information that is shared before some of the episodes. Of course I know people who’ve gone through DV and this podcast helps bring some of these issues to light. Cannot emphasize enough how much I love this podcast and how fast I digested all the seasons once I found it! Keep up the amazing work!

Kudos
I think this podcast is an odd, guilty pleasure for a guy. It’s well-produced and the stories are inviting and entertaining. No question, there are some seriously bad dudes out there. With that said, most of these women are nothing short of pathetic. They don’t know how to let an idiot go - someone who they shouldn’t have been dating in the first place. Or, they expect to find the love of their lives from Tinder or Hinge. Really? Then, once the tragedy of a relationship with a reject of a man is over, they devote a substantial portion of their living energy to following, wasting, and nearly stalking the stupid man-child over whom they spun this sordid and ridiculous fantasy. Get a better vetting process and don’t fall for a love-bomber. Also, get used to the phrase, “I’m so incredibly sorry…”

It’s becoming Hard to Follow
I wish there was something like part 2 part 3 and it would be nice If the stories didn’t have all those parts too. Like make it one long podcast. This was my favorite podcast.

So happy I found this podcast
I am thankful for the brave victims that have contributed their stories to this podcast. My twenties were filled with emotionally abusive men and it took me a long time to recover and love myself more and start to realize how to avoid that type of man. Listening to this podcast has helped me to continue to work through my past experiences and know it wasn’t okay to let myself be treated that way. To the people leaving mean and non constructive reviews, what is going on with you? This is a podcast, don’t like it, move on. Please keep up the incredible job of providing a platform for victims to share their stories and for listeners like me to learn and grow from.

Knowing someone who is an addict with a disease, doesn’t make you a survivor.
Omg that last episode was so sad. This girl suffers from addiction and mental illness. She had a disease and you think her friends are survivors ?! This is terrible and I’m extremely disappointed you would even consider this story when that women suffered from addiction. Absolutely terrible. There has been bad episodes, but this.. this is disgusting…. Edit: This is the very last episode I’m listening too. Unsubscribing. Boo hoo tik tok users were mean to you? You get your information from tik Tok? That’s dangerous to share with people, thinking it’s ok to get valid information from tik tok. And also even if this guy was lying or not, you don’t ask people who served about death or killing people. That is extremely triggering and tragic. There are real survivors out there. Not dumb girls who get lied too. Ok so this guy is a weirdo creep, did he actually do anything other then being liar? This is so bizarre. Goodbye for good something was wrong. So bad.

The stories are captivating and well moderated, even when I get upset at how clueless some of these women seem to be.

Not as good as it used to be
I was attracted to this podcast because it really delved into the emotional traps that people can fall into and I really sensed it was a safe place for people to discuss their experiences and add to the survivor energy. But lately, it feels more like a gossip session. Something is missing.

this podcast has gone downhill…
despite my previous complaints (see original review below), i was still a fan of SWW because the stories were so interesting. season 14 is where things took a turn for me, even though it was still overall interesting. season 15 sounds like a bunch of dumb tiktokers sharing cringey stories that are hard to empathize with. i appreciate that tiffany has edited herself out more, and stopped with the constant “i’m so sorry” responses. but the stories this season are garbage 🗑️ (previous review) the host comes off as try-hard and fake-sympathetic with all the “thank you so much” and “i’m so sorry” that she spits out after every narrated segment. i understand the intent, but saying “i’m so sorry” to preface every single question comes off as disingenuous. is that a weird thing to base a review on? maybe. it’s become really distracting to me and makes me enjoy the podcast a bit less now.

Great pod
I appreciate the thought and care that goes into telling these stories. They’re interesting, cautionary tales. I read some reviews and people are brutal so I just wanted to add a positive one. Editing and compiling stories like these is no small feat and Tiffany should be commended for doing it. Thank you Tiffany!

So much respect
I have so much respect for all of the people that come on here to tell their stories, it takes a lot of courage to be so open and vulnerable about trauma in such a public setting. Also, just a reminder, mental health issues isn’t an excuse to be a bad person, and if that person emotionally abused and manipulated other people, they still reserve the right to talk about their experiences and how it’s affected them.

Jenna Jean’s episode made me give up on this show
Really feels like Something Was Wrong is starting to scrape the bottom of the barrel. This was the bottom line. Jenna Jean’s episode was inane and devoid of any insight. Just a girl whose TikTok went viral spending an hour talking about the details behind her TikTok, other people on TikTok, what she’s learned about TikTok…. I miss the days that this show had smart, self-aware guests

Something IS wrong
With this podcast that is. It started off great but the last couple of seasons have taken a weird turn. I find myself getting frustrated with people ignoring red flags very early on, not taking responsibility for their own bad decisions, & then calling it abuse. At what point do we need to be held accountable for our own lives?

Commenters are mean
I love this podcast, but i love it for the reasons people hate it. It shows how many people have not been in abusive situations, and thats great i wouldnt want them to. But also, to sit there and say “there were so many flags and you women are just stupid” is so hurtful. I believed too that i would never be in a situation like this cause i was to smart to be tricked into it, but once your in it and there is emotions involved its hard. Kind of like “would you jump in front of a bullet for someone” a lot of us want to believe we would but no one can say for sure unless theyre there. And making people feel stupid for being tricked is horrible. Abusers are VERY good at what they do, the abuse is tailored to people. This podcast is a community for people who have gone through this so we know that were not as stupid as we feel, cause we 100% feel stupid. You dont need to say it. We know. But we didnt at the time cause it was a simple “i dont like when you wear croptops much, i just dont like the look of them” to “why are you wearing a crop top? Cause you want to look like a sl*t in front of my friends?” Keeping in mind there are months between that. We are getting all the bad parts of the story and were getting it in an hour. These women had wonderful times with these men and it was over months even years. You dont see the flags as easy when they’re buried under time and good memories. Then its a matter of “really? I do one thing wrong you hold it over my head but were not going to acknowledge the 10 good things ive done? I can never win” the horrible thing is, the people that meed to be reading this will never read it. The only people still reading are the people that understand what is so upsetting about all this.

The first few seasons were so good, but now it’s either political garbage or just a boring story of a girl who ignored red flags because the dude was rich.

My gateway podcast
I think this was one of my very first podcasts I listened to and got immediately addicted from the very first season. What was used as something to listen to on a long car ride became and absolute obsession of waiting for each new season. This podcast has opened my eyes to so many moments within my personal relationships; realizing ways I’ve been abused, gaslit and mistreated. It’s my therapy away from therapy! I love what Tiffany and all those who have spoken out have done to reveal what these awful people can do and how easily they do it. I mention this podcast to absolutely everyone in hopes that they get what I’ve gained from listening. ❤️

Good stories ruined by political input
It’s interesting that at the start of every episode the host states something along the lines of “stories do not reflect the views of myself, broken cycle media or wondery” but each guest clearly only has a specific political position. Can no longer overlook the intentional political input. Nice knowin ya!

HEART PALPITATIONS
I am currently listening to season 13 episode 2. I cannot describe the anxiousness I got in this episode. The survivor of this episode is so strong in the way she pushes through and tell her story. The way Tiffany allows them to tell their own story but helps facilitate is soul-opening to me, honestly. This podcast is more than just something to listen to while not paying attention. I look forward to sitting down and listening to Something Was Wrong, so I can work through my own issues while listening to other people work through their lives in their own ways. I am grateful for the SWW Team! ♥️

Good content and intentions
Good content and intentions. I have used this podcast to educate my daughter on the dangers of relationships. Wish the creator would educate on how law and criminal procedure works. She gives victims false hope that she can 3rd party report crime. No criminal agency accepts 3rd party complaints. There is sound reasoning behind it which protects victims. Its a simple concept that if not followed could lead to people filing false 3rd party reports to victimize individuals. Enjoy the content, just don't take any opinions of the criminal justice system as correct.

Theme song controversy
Sure I have things to say about the podcast, but instead I feel a need to react to all the negativity toward the theme song: Is it bad? Sure, in a way, but it’s funny! And it’s perfect for what “Something was Wrong” started out being about. Speaking of which, I wish the podcast would get back on that track — about people —in both romantic and platonic relationships — who turn out to be duplicitous, fraudulent, living a double life, scammers, etc. and not just at the extremes of abuse. The most interesting episodes to me have been the ones aimed at trying to understand the personality and the dynamic. As for editing, I agree that most of the episodes could use more.

Wow
The amount of outright stupidity some of these women exhibit is mind blowing. All of the red flags and signs they are shown and they still stay in these situations and subject their children to… smh. How naive and clueless can you be??? Diana thinking that just because a man was in the military and a police officer that he can’t possibly be a bad person… what??? How incredibly ignorant. I can’t listen anymore. All these stories do is piss me off and make me realize how much common sense people lack. Smh

Not into it anymore
So it seems like every other episode now is a person that recognized all the red flags, but stayed with the abuser because they were being wined and dined. I’m not here to judge that. If you hate the guy but want to date him because he buys you nice things and takes you on trips... You do you. Really if that’s the exchange you want, go for it. But I don’t want to hear about it anymore.

Love the personal stories - wish the podcast would stick to just that
I love the personal stories shared, and I mostly love the questions or comments from the host. I wish the podcast would concentrate on that instead of going political. I feel like it can be polarizing to some listeners. I had my husband listening to the podcast with me and he refuses anymore because of the political inference. Side note - I HATE the theme song. Great. But the audio quality????
I am a huge fan and I’ve been listening since the beginning but WHY does it sound like Tiffany is recording inside a tin box? Does the show not have access to a decent vocal mic? I understand when the podcast first started but the show is at Wondery now… has tons of listeners…why is the production quality still so amateur sounding? A decent vocal mic and a quality audio interface would be great.

Identify speakers
Season 1 was so good! It was difficult to keep the speakers straight though. They weren’t identified in the beginning of the episode and many sound the same so I couldn’t tell who was talking. Please clearly state who is talking or start at the beginning of the conversation instead of at a weird middle point.

What happened?
I loved this podcast before but now the stories showcase people like Naomi - I mean seriously? She shows absolutely no empathy for her best friend who clearly has mental health problems. The narrative that addicts are dangerous people is antiquated and so wrong at so many levels. You can do so much better than this.

…AND WHY DO THEY ALWAYS GET PREGNANT?!
These women are…very dumb. I really question the authenticity of their stories, since the women themselves are the only ones interviewed. Also, there is always one awkwardly places F-word, as if the host is asking them to work it in somewhere in their story. The stories just doesn’t feel 100% authentic.

Mental illness isn’t for your entertainment
I found the latest episode especially disturbing to listen to. The group telling their story, are all mental health professionals, which was even more unsettling. The story is about a woman who clearly struggles with mental health issues, and who in the end sought out treatment. Being professionals in the field, they should also know that stress is the greatest trigger for a downward spiral. When one friend tells about the subjects mother relaying this to her, she is appalled by something she should absolutely understand. Yes, you can still be the victim of someone with mental health issues - but the story should have been more educational in the ways those struggling with mental health aren’t capable of physically diagnosing themselves or being able to seek the treatment they need.

Irresponsible, malicious, & harmful
I’ve never left a review for a restaurant let alone a podcast before, but I feel strongly enough to make an exception here. I’ve been a long time listener of the pod, and while the host can sometimes rub me the wrong way (a bit disingenuous, a lot of religious victims with no discussion of the dangers of said religion, her clearly pro-cop stance) the stories have been worth powering through. However, the recent episodes with Naomi have crossed a line. To gloss over someone’s clear addiction problems and mental health struggles and paint them as a perpetrator is harmful to anyone who’s ever struggled with addiction. Naomi’s narrator job was a gleeful tale of how she once knew and addict who self-destructed. This story had no purpose other than to shame addicts and those struggling with mental health, and to signal to impressionable listeners that having no empathy for a friends struggles is totally fine. This podcast has disintegrated into a gossip session for TR and an opportunity to point the finger. I’m disgusted and frankly livid at these episodes, and I can’t believe they were even allowed to be published. There’s clearly no checks and balances of this podcast, and it’s existence in a dangerous echo chamber will be its own undoing. Until then, I’m out.

What’s going on with the newer episodes?
I had to check multiple times to make sure I didn’t skip an episode. No background story, we don’t know who these people are, there’s no conversation/introduction. It felt like I started listening halfway through so was difficult to feel like I was invested in the story. I love this podcast but the newer episodes feel like they’re moving farther away from what Tiffany started.

Victim shaming and couch diagnosing
Ooof. Loved this podcast in the beginning. Now, it’s a super odd mix of addiction shaming for clout and poor editing to the extent it exposes those who do speak against their abusers. Common denominator is host saying “I’m sooo sorrryyy”. How it’s still sponsored is shocking.

Disappointed
Alice, John and Naomi are all bullies. I’m disappointed that you even aired this. To sit there and talk so badly about someone who was your “bestfriend” and who clearly was suffering from addiction is just disgusting and also insulting for people who have lived through this themselves or with a loved one. You should really take it down

Empowering Women & Men to Overcome Abuse❤️
This show brings so much awareness in how to recognize and prevent getting involved with these type of people. Ashley I would like to share a story of a horrible women who abused my nephew. She can portray herself as the nicest person ever. My nephew is now 22 years old and suffering due to the emotional & physical injury he received from his mom. I don’t know how to get in touch with you but I think this platform may help him heal and alert others about women who are sexual predators & abusers, Narcissists and Sociopaths.

Lost its way
I love the first few seasons. The beginning episodes truly seemed to be stemming from studying cases of manipulation and coercion, especially in romantic relationships. It was always stated that the “abuser” always has a chance to comment. In the later episodes-especially the last two with the woman who is clearly lost in addiction- it feels self-righteous, salacious, ill-informed, and one-sided. I was initially put off at the end of Jakes Season when an oddly disproportionate amount of time was designated to the girls thanking each other... it seemed like a private conversation made public for self glorification. Now all stories seem dangerously one sided and kind of mean spirited. The “victim” always comes off as the perfect person... Sometimes egos take over, and unfortunately it seems to be the case with the creators of this podcast.

Thank you for showing what intelligence, strength and emotional empathic support can sound like. The people on this show are incredibly brave. It goes to show how important community support is. I just discovered this podcast and I looooove it. Season one had me shook. Listening to what this young lady took me back to when I was younger. Ok
It’s a good podcast but some seasons are about abusive relationships and some are about relationships that end in murders which is incredibly jarring. When you think you’re listening to a story about an abusive relationship and then the last 20 minutes is something like “then he killed three people and himself” it’s shocking and I wish it was stated at the beginning which is which similar to what crime junkie does. Also it makes me laugh when the host will cut out her questions but keep herself saying “I’m so sorry” to the victim in every episode. Like why? lol

Needs editing and a better host
The stories can be interesting, but would be better if redundant, repetitive, and unnecessary information was edited out. The host lets people tell their own stories, but some people are not great at story telling. Also, the host adds nothing to the show. She does not seem to know how to interview someone. Her comments are often distracting For example, she should ask people how they feel, instead of saying, “I imagine you feel____”. These kinds of statements box the subject in. We would learn more from an open-ended question instead of her presumption.

Love it except…
The latest episode rubbed me the wrong way when they were discussing someone faking cancer. Anyone who does that is absolutely disgusting. However, it was stated that anyone who is diagnosed with cancer has to wait a long time to start chemo and that’s how she knew the person was lying. I was diagnosed with stage 4 Brest cancer and started chemo 6 days later. So it can happen fast. I just wanted to put that out that in case others say this and people who hear this podcast thing they are automatically lying! Otherwise I love this podcast and think they messages they send out are so important!

I feel insulted
Starting out I truly loved this podcast but after season 14 I will no longer listen. Being a victim of horrific domestic violence I feel very deeply about women supporting women. I know all too well the anguish of watching your abuser repeatedly set free and receiving no justice. Is Jake a gaslighter and a horrible human being? Absolutely. Is filming women without their consent deplorable and disgusting. Again absolutely. Several of these women come off less as victims and more scorned women. To say Melissa endured “horrific” domestic violence seems to be an exaggeration at best. My heart breaks for what Ivy endured as her abuse was truly horrific. Every day women are murdered because their abusers slipped through the cracks because they weren’t taken seriously. Why Tiffany chose to put time and energy into seeing Jake Gravbrot prosecuted is a mystery. Advocate for real victims.

I’ve been a loyal listener since day 1 and have always appreciated the unbiased commentary. As time has gone on though, Tiffany seems to be inserting her opinions into the podcasts and perhaps an unpopular opinion but, it seems as though it’s become more gossip than an actual platform for victim’s rights and advocacy. But, the Zayla episode was my official undoing with this podcast. While she may be considered a victim, every opportunity was made for her to tell her story in a sympathetic way however, it came off as materialistic, shallow and insulting to all of us peasants who don’t have a new car every week or thousands of dollars for jewelry. Victims are not willing. Every chance she got though, she was going on expensive trips and complaining about it. Nonstop talk about house designers, cars, bags, shoes, clothes. Just disgusting. Incredibly insensitive and absolutely unrelatable. I don’t exactly understand the choice to feature this woman’s “story” but at this point, I don’t care. It’s obvious Tiffany has strayed far from listening to constructive feedback and gone rogue for the sole purpose of financial gain. You do you, boo. But I won’t be around anymore for it.

Used to be Great
I started listening to this a few years ago at my friends recommendation. The first few seasons were great, and, of course Artie was the best season. It was a “Dirty John” podcast which appeals to so many. It started to fall off somewhere and now it’s just terrible. The stories aren’t outrageous, they are commonplace, and I really don’t need all of the pronouns and political agenda. But the main problem is the storylines are lacking and drawn out unnecessarily. I couldn’t even finish the last episode, because you deleted it. And now we have to pay for the Wondery app? Not interested because it’s gone downhill. There’s plenty of other podcasts to listen to out there. Such a disappointment because it was really enjoyable for a while.

Must listen
This is such an important podcast. I feel like every woman I know has been in a toxic relationship of some degree. I was a person who ignored red flags due to low self esteem and optimism. This isn’t something we talk about openly though!! Only my closest friends knew the truth of what was going on in my relationship and the abuse that I was suffering. Even though so many people have been in relationships like this, we don’t talk about it! I would have benefited so much from hearing others experiences and what red flags to look for and learning the way narcissists can manipulate and gaslight you. Minus one star because I don’t like the theme song and always skip through it, and there have been a few episodes I wasn’t a fan of. Overall I do recommend this podcast though

Talking about addicts is a bully move….
The NEW episodes 3 & 4 of season 15 (Alice + John + Naomi) are disturbing. I love this show, mostly, but I sure do hope a sober Karina never stumbles upon these episodes. The person she was is clear as day.. she’s an addict and needs to get help. I completely understand there were people affected by her actions and agree with the legal actions her employer had to take but everyone gathering together to talk about the things she’s “battling” with is giving big bully. The internet is a wild place and you know people are going to find out who this story is about. It’s just not cool.

Drug User vs People Abuser
Season 15 ep 4 & 5 - There is a difference between lying to your friends and coworkers in order to cover up the shame and guilt of drug & alcohol use versus using manipulation to gain power and control over others. The only abuse I can detect comes from Naomi, the “victim” who is calling her best friend a psychopath, gathering intel behind her back, trying to get her fired from her job, gossiping with her friends parents, having no empathy for her addiction, and being incredibly judgmental and dramatic on top of it all.

What the heck is wrong with everyone?
All of the people commenting negatively on Zaylas episode… we didn’t even get art two. It turns you off bc of the high level lifestyle, it’s zero difference from a poorer woman staying in her abusive husbands home due to fear of financial instability or inability to feed her kids, or because she loves her pets, or because she’s afraid of what roper will think or mostly bc these unhealthy relationships ruin your ability to properly value yourself and this can work BOTH WAYS. The more common may be a victim undervaluing themself but it’s also possible for thinking to be distorted to where someone is undervaluing the treatment they deserve while overvaluing the lifestyle they deserve…. I think having Holly, Zayla and a wide representation of different unhealthy relationships is what’s great about this podcast! And to the person who commented that Tiffany should correct rolled grammar etc bc they sound uneducated, please just stop following bc you are completely missing the point

Exploits persons with mental health issues
With the exception of a few stories, these episodes exploit people suffering from mental conditions or other types of issues that explain their behavior. We only receive one viewpoint - the “perpetrators” are never given their side of the story. One story focuses on a very severe case of munchausen and the woman telling it doesn’t let up even after disclosing that the person had died!!!! Horrible!!

Disappointing, like very!
The last 2 Podcast's, are so bad, that’s the nicest word I can use. The fact that you split the story up into 2 separate Podcast's, is insulting. You made it seem like…..wait for next week when something interesting happens. Sorry some chick throwing marinara sauce all over her office and then suggesting that someone broke in. Not so interesting. It actually sounds like she was surrounded by educated people who didn’t see her obvious “cries for help” or “insanity”. I thought I loved this Podcast. Now I’m going to unfollow and not pay money to hear it. Very disappointed.

Disappointed
I’ve LOVED this podcast. But season 15 has really taken away the heart of this podcast. I don’t see the last two participants as victims. More specifically, Zayla. They are simply opportunists that placed and kept themselves in a state of chaos because they wanted what they felt entitled to and were going to get it by any means. Not only did they knowingly put someselves in an abusive situation they kept themselves in it, for nothing other than the fact that they were going to have a luxurious, comfortable lifestyle along with it. Please go back to the stories regarding the “average Joe’s” that deserve a listening ear and support. Not self absorbed, entitled, poor-little-rich-girls.

Zayla
I honestly don’t understand how this episode was allowed forward. She was as much of a user and manipulated. Not challenging her actions allows for her behavior to be accepted as ok. Really disappointing Additionally, some of these episodes seem to be much more about people who have legitimate mental illness and it’s kinda wrong to demonize them without a discussion of mental health

Why Zayla???!!!!
All of the stories of survivors were honest and heart wrenching, until Zaylas episode. Why on Earth would u choose to interview a sugar baby? She was no victim, she willingly kept herself in that position for the materialistic gain, she even admitted it herself! I’m disappointed that you chose to include her story. And for the love of God, please change that ANNOYING theme song!

I love this show but Zayla did not come across as a real victim. The last straw was her “going to just visit the dogs” She was self serving and shallow and insulting to true victims of coercion and domestic violence.

Respectful host, real stories by real people
10/10 I absolutely was enthralled by season 1. It’s told first perspective and is not interrupted by the host. The host explains different types of abuse and conversations surrounding that before the episodes. I have recommended this podcast to so many of my salon clients that open up to me. These survivors are so important and strong! I think if you have a problem with someone’s story or perspective, you need to take a look within and accept other people’s perspectives.

I relate to Zayla
I read some comments about her being materialistic, but I can relate to her recount of events SO MUCH. Minus celebrity status. I understand the trauma/love bonding of someone giving you nice/materialistic things as an excuse for their bad behavior. “How can I be bad? Look at what I’ve done for you.” I might not have 3 houses, but I have just recently left my nice home/life for a smaller lifestyle. The fact that I was leaving my life was used against me so many times before I decided to leave.

Tiff I freakin love and adore this podcast. Wonderful storytelling. But…. Zayla. I’m a really open person but something about this one rubbed me the wrong way. I felt like we were getting a one sided version and found myself lacking a lot of sympathy for her situation. I enjoy listening to harrowing tales from survivors, but this one is not it. Looking forward to new episodes without zayla

Some constructive criticism
With all do respect, the theme music doesn’t fit the serious tone of the subject matter. The music is extremely off-putting and I have to scramble for my phone to skip through it every time. Maybe it’s time to pick something new? Using the phrase trigger warning sounds very “millennial“ and not very intelligent. I know it’s in the Oxford dictionary but so is bae and YOLO. My 11 y/o says “triggered”. We’re hearing these stories through the words of the victim, but if they keep saying “like” over and over or not saying a world correctly, like saying ex-scape instead of escape, maybe give them a heads up so they don’t come off uneducated.

Romanticizing abuse. Can’t be a part of it
I really liked this show at first. It hit all the notes. This was a series that went deeper about people and relationships and said it wanted to “educate the public on important topics such as emotional, physical and sexual abuse, coercive control and gaslighting.” But it never educates and only romanticizes trauma and acts as a trigger for the victims. I’m surprised that Tiffany Reese hasn’t been sued yet. By listening to this show, I was supporting this toxicity. I just can’t.

Love the pod but concerned
I love the pod but I genuinely concerned why they took down the zayla episodes. These episodes are here so people going through the same thing can relate and realize other people are here for them. If he threaten to sue or whatever it was paid them off, its unfortunate because actions should be held accountable. It shouldn’t be swept under the rug. His name was also never mentioned. We can’t help that people found out his identity.

I agree with all other comments. I have always thought this was a great podcast, but lost what Tiffany’s point of the podcast with Zayla’s story. It very much reminded of Amber Heards story. The Best Most Thorough Podcast Ever!
Season 14 with Psycho Jake was challenging to listen to but awesome at the same time. There were soooo many Red Flags 🚩! How could all of these women that dated him and had his baby not know how dangerous he was? Exposing their children to this sick, psycho, cheating, lying individual always comes with consequences. They should have ran for the hills and never looked back! If a man is capable of treating his “women” like this, imagine how worse it would be on those innocent children. The adults know better, children do not. How could these women possibly have any interaction with this man after learning of his disgusting qualities, and now exposing their children to him? I don’t get it.

i love what Tiffany has done here. not every case/episode will resonate with everyone, but each one is an important story in its own right. If I had any criticism it would be that some of the episodes are drawn out because there seems to be no editing. people will repeat themselves (which often happens in conversation!) and none of it will be edited out. Sometimes makes listening frustrating.

context helps
This Zayla episode. I started it and she hasn’t stopped talking for like ten minutes; without a breath. No host. No help. We come into the story in the middle. I’ve no clue who this person is, why I should care; and what the point is. I started with season one and dropped off when the producing got boring, letting people ramble on end without focus. Looks like that has not changed.

No!!!!!!!! Reported to iTunes
I binged to this podcast in reverse order starting from the most recent - season 2 made me stop. Every episode started with a disclaimer about the severity and complexities of mental illness - THEN Tiffany doubles down by saying the opinions in the show are not her own —and in this particular season she were absolutely disgusting, leading and wrong in her “journalism”. This podcast is completely incongruent with it’s said intention, and I hope it is taken down. If not, stop using other’s trauma as porn and come forward with your own story you cry is too intense to reveal- you’re a coward, and your listeners have the mental capacity and willingness to understand quirks, trauma and the repercussions - We want to know you- that’s why people listen. Do better. Disgusting.

This show is very liberal
I used to listen to this show but they’re always trying to push their dumb liberal beliefs. If you’re not a minority or you’re just a regular person, this show will make you uncomfortable. Also almost all the victims are either money hungry or live a lifestyle where anything goes. I have learned though, if you want to avoid issues in your life, don’t follow all the immoral practice of the “victims” in this show and maybe use some common sense. Sometimes the truth hurts.

I usually really enjoy this podcasts and how it focuses on the victims and understanding their point of view. However the last 2 episodes with Zayla are so hard to listen to. Ridiculous
As a victim of domestic violence, I’m disturbed that you’d give attention to Zayla’s story. She literally sold herself for money. She’s incredibly manipulative. She repeats several times that she tried to manage him, whether it be for money, gifts, experiences. She chose to live in a bad situation because she enjoyed his money. Even after they spilt, she was still putting herself in his line of fire for a price. They are both toxic and at fault. This show has become quite the let down.

Love except last 2 episodes
LOVE this podcast overall. Frustrated with the last couple episodes w/ Zayla (although still found them very interesting and listened in entirety) — it’s clear that Zayla chose to stay in the relationship for financial/power status benefit, and that Jaden has some serious mental health issues going on. So much being left out in this story. I don’t feel bad for Zayla and I’m not one to victim-blame, but to call this abuse is a little far in my opinion, and undermines the experiences of others in abusive relationships. I’m not saying that Zayla and Jaden’s relationship was healthy (far from it), they were just merely exchanging things of value until it no longer worked. He gave her the lifestyle she wanted, while she was young and attractive and met his “other needs.” Truth of the matter is, she knew what she was getting into and chose to look the other way because she didn’t want to say goodbye to the lifestyle (makes sense, can’t say I wouldn’t do the same). But c’mon, is she really the victim of abuse in this? She seems very entitled and delusional.

You lost me at Zayla
The Zayla episodes have lost me. She was attracted to a jerk because he had lots of money. She stayed with him and tolerated his bad behavior because he had lots of money and she enjoyed the lifestyle. Seems like she had a nice supportive family she could have returned to, and it sounds like any hardship she tolerated wasn’t under threats from him about leaving, but rather because she enjoyed the lavish lifestyle. Definitely not on the level of some of the other stories I have enjoyed on this podcast. Hoping the next story is on par with precious seasons. Otherwise, I won’t be listening any more.

Wow - in the worst way
I have never reviewed any podcast but I’m so uncomfortable that Zayla’s story was shared on this podcast I had to write. She seemed like a manipulative, narcissistic user who loves material items and hates other women. I’m actually appalled and considering never listening to this podcast again after giving this woman a platform. Wealthy people can be abused, sex workers can be abused (this woman seems quick to use this term to shame other women and yet…….she is clearly one too) - but this woman is an entitled, awful human who clearly loves money, celebrity status and material items more than anything else and seemed to have ample opportunity to leave but she herself basically said she loves the stuff too much. I didn’t believe her during most of what she was sharing because even during her “trauma” she makes sure to insert brands and name drop. I might be done with this podcast after this story.

Zayla is a Horrible, Shallow person
Why did you feature this shallow, narcissistic, materialistic person on this show? I repeatedly said out loud over and over again, “I hate this woman!” She stayed with a mentally-disturbed man because he had money and social status. She kept going back because of the cash. It was all money and expensive cars (we all learned the models!) and private planes and decorators and stylists and housekeepers and cash on the counter and parties and parties and parties ad, did I say L.A. and Social media?!?!I could not stand this woman. She used him as much as he used her. If she said, “I used (his mental illness) to my advantage” one more time, I was going to explode!!!!

Decline of Interest
Seasons 14& 15 have been so bad i couldnt even finish season 14. The whole time im listening I keep thinking “what is the point” its just rambling on without a clear story line or conclusion. The story with zayla in season 15 has been the MOST ANNOYING. To hear a gold digger/sugar baby go on here & try to gain sympathy is laughable. The fact that it was 2 eps is even more annoying. We are just hearing a story of someone who is using a guy for money and when he treats her badly she stays in it for the money. This girl needs some real help dealing with her issues.

Genuine Host, Important Stories
Tiffany is one of the most empathetic hosts out there. Anyone could make a podcast like this to share people's stories. Not everyone has the gift she has to make people feel safe enough to share. Even though some of these stories are extreme, there are so many themes and lessons, especially for women, to take away. Trust your gut and challenge those toxic lessons so many women learn growing up to not be rude. Pay attention to those who may be manipulating you. I do have to agree with other reviews. I didn't make it through Zayla's story. It felt off, something was definitely wrong... This latest season has felt different. I may be in the minority here, but I like the intro song!

Oh how we judge….
Before judging, as read in some comments regarding Zayla, try exercising just a little empathy. There is a myth that emotional and physical domestic violence is confined to couples of a lower socioeconomic class. That’s what my ex convinced me of - it took me 8.5 years to leave, but I know so many women still enslaved by their golden handcuffs. Thank you, Zayla, for sharing your story.

Zayla’s Episodes
I absolutely loved this podcast up until the Zayla’s episodes. The way she is telling her story is not relatable and her little comments, here and there about him paying off stuff for her makes her sound like she was in the relationship for money. I really feel sorry for her if she was a domestic violence victim, but as one myself, I feel like there are more important stories out there to tell that will help bring awareness to DV. I will keep listening to the podcast because I think Tiffany does a great job with it. I’m just disappointed in these episodes.

Meh.
The earlier seasons seemed a bit more legit than the later seasons. Obviously there is a true psychology to why people don’t leave but some of these newer situations I just don’t see the psychology of it other than an addiction to drama and money. The only reason you would stay in contact with someone who treats you badly is the money Zayla seems to continue to get from him. It seems like Zayla doesn’t really want him to leave her alone or she would block him and cut off all contact. Also season 14 Jake is a bad guy FOR SURE. The woman involved just don’t seem super mature about it all. Like yeah if Jake really did record you then you need to find proof and give it to the police.

I actually think this podcast is dangerous
Our failure as a society to make swift, appropriate and far-reaching change to how we identify, address, and hopefully prevent exploitation, violence and abuse of the vulnerable is to blame for the “current wisdom” that created a podcast like this: being victimized by “bad people” is inevitable, breaking the cycle is near impossible, and the only thing we can do for survivors is to let them tell their stories — the messier, the better. There is a lot of crucial information information in these survivors’ stories that could help MANY people IF there were *clear* discussion about warning signs, expert advice, what they believe made them vulnerable and what they have learned since then — either through time or with professional help. But instead, we get an unending stream of pop psychology buzzwords, questionable research sources (The Workplace Bullying Institute? Seriously? That’s a business trying sell “coaching”) and subjects who are often in no state to speak with an unqualified person about their experience. I hope people in these situations realize that they deserve better and that we start to disavow the “trauma porn” genre in favor of something that’s genuinely and enduringly empowering.
Fun for lots of hours

Was great pre-season 14
I really liked listening to this podcast before season 14 which seemed to go on and on. Yes, Jake is awful, but damn… Now, it’s all about rich girls. No offense but can you do some real stories in women who have truly suffered please? These are the women who really need a voice in my personal opinion. How about trafficked Mexican women, struggling single mothers, minority women who fight to be taken seriously everyday? I’m really disappointed with this podcast at this point.

Trauma Gossip
Let me preface this review with this: NO ONE deserves any form of emotional or physical abuse. Absolutely no one, for any reason. With that said, here are my conclusions after listening to the first episode of the Zayla series. Won’t be listening to the second episode or anymore episodes of this podcast after this… I have listened to this podcast from the beginning and was definitely on board (for the most part), until now... Haven't felt the need to write a review until the first Zayla episode. Just... No. I have worked in the non profit, humanitarian world for the past decade and a half. The people I have worked with have REAL problems. This podcast spits in the faces of those who have real struggles. Most of these podcast stories are ridiculous. Ignorance, naivety, and privilege are a constant theme throughout these stories. I should have honestly known since the first season, when most of the episodes were the host and the interviewees cyberstalking, gossiping, and obsessing over the abusers. The abusers are HORRIBLE people, for the record. But the way these stories are told are clearly done for entertainment sake rather than advocacy. Speaking to this current season… Tiffany, not sure if you are running out of stories, but please tell relatable stories of people who actually deserve our empathy and respect, ones of people who will make us feel heard, understood, and seen. This podcast is grasping at straws for stories, and I am over feeding into the trauma gossip this podcast encourages.

Update: Ever since joining wondery I’ve slowly lost the interest. Not sure if it’s coincidental or not. Season 14 has good, except it dragged a bit. The “finale” was a total bust. Then a followup? Kind of pointless. But getting into season 15 I just unsubscribed. While I do understand everyone should have a voice.I really don’t agree with the direction the season/show is going.

A unique podcast but …
I have always enjoyed this podcast, but season 14 could have been condensed into two or three episodes. Tiffany’s rambling phone call to the FBI was completely embarrassing as she clearly has no idea of jurisdiction or what constitutes a crime. I don’t understand why she didn’t consult with a legal expert before she started contacting law enforcement. This needed to be boiled down into one crime: a man was secretly videotaping women having sex without their consent. Aside from that, it’s not a federal crime to yell at another adult or be emotionally abusive or be a complete narcissist or sociopath. He was already convicted of child abuse, so that was not new or actionable even though it was horrific. Tiffany did the actual victims a real disservice by blundering into this and expecting the police to sift through her thousands of pages of materials to find an actual crime. Also - I agree with everyone else that the theme song and the singer are awful. This show deserves much better!

Season 7
I’m sure this girl has a good story but she repeats her story over and over several episodes and goes off on many side stories that take away from the emotion of the main story. It’s so uncomfortable to listen to. In the end her journey outweighed my petty irritability and I am glad I listened through. On season 8 now and on my binge. 😁 I appreciate hearing all of the victims stories. However, I have realized that there are narcissistic traits and behaviors in every single relationship I’ve had in my life. Are we all a little bit narcissistic if we really reflect? Is that a label that is being overused? UPDATE: oh I love; no I LOVED SEASON 8!! so many amazing topics and points to review. I just love it. I love it all!!!

Was I listening to Real Housewives via podcast?
I’m not sure I’m ever been intolerant of someone who claims to be a victim of domestic violence. But I am definitely with Zayla. This chick is off the charts obnoxious. From stroking her own ego about how intelligent and attractive that she is to her constant references about the luxury items (she really seems fixated on cars) that her “abusive “boyfriend buys, her I’m not sure which was more nauseating. She seems completely self-absorbed and lacks any awareness of the true horrific nature of sexual and domestic violence. You really missed the mark on your “victim” in this week’s story. Maybe next time try for something a little bit more middle America and less LA???

I absolutely love how you have so many different stories. I feel connected with each one. Your doing a fantastic job making sure these stories are shared in the best way for the victims. So healing to even listen.

Zayla
What is happening this season? Never mind the very irritating ostentatiousness and shallowness of Zayla, but missing your court dates?!?! Three of them?!?! So she forgot to fill out mail forwarding AND never checked in with the DA ever?!? Also something about the boyfriend’s mother’s treatment of Zayla appears to be missing a piece. Like a big one. It so not impossible that someone would act that way for absolutely no reason, but it is unlikely.

Great podcast. The title says it all. Love it because sometimes the unnecessary banter between two people who “think” they are funny aren’t … stop already ! Love single narrators. Love this podcast. Straight and to the point! Great stories - if something is a trigger just skip. You won’t be missing many. Well done !

Season 14. What happened? This podcast went downhill fast. Zayla’s story was hard to get through. What a greedy, opportunistic, entitled & clueless individual. Not sure what the host & editors were thinking when they gave the okay. This ain’t it.

Is this a real housewives show now?
Season 15 is when this show went completely awry. I’m sad for the women (in earlier seasons) who were brave enough to tell stories of actual abuse. Please don’t give airtime to the Zayla’s of the world who stayed in bad relationships because they like Chanel and Lamborghinis.

I’m out
Imagine being an actual victim of sexual/domestic violence and listening to Zayla talk about how her rich boyfriend was late to dates/buys her things/says semi nasty comments. This is why victims don’t feel comfortable coming forward - because this is what ignorant people hear when ACTUAL victims need to be heard (they’re just complaining, they asked for it, etc). Tiffany - shame on you for making this woman’s story a feature on the podcast. Real women, with serious abuse need to be heard and Zaylas story minimizes victims experiences. I’m done hearing the whining of women that have no right to have this as their platform.

It's important to hear these
It's so tempting to victim blame in situations like these, because most people just don't understand the psychology of how this happens. It seems so obvious from the outside looking in, but the truth is that in most cases, it happened so gradually and insidiously that by the time they realized what was going on, they were in over their heads. It's like the boiling frog analogy where the heats gets turned up so slowly the frog doesn't realize what's happening until it's cooked. The most important take away from all of this is **don't ignore those red flags.** I've been listening to find the perfect episode to play for an elderly loved one who is very obviously is getting into an emotionally abusive situation and just can't see it even though my sister and I have tried to explain that he is lovebombing her and becoming increasingly controlling and volatile. We are both deeply in fear for her safety because her situation is complicated by the fact that he lives across the street from her, which gives him easy access to her even when she tries to pull away. Can you PLEASE find some older ladies (like of retirement age) who have gotten into this situation in a retirement community? I've think it's too easy to assume that this is mostly a young person issue, but abusers get old too and those leopards never change their spots. PS: I agree with those folks who think that intro music is horrific, especially towards the end of it. I try to just fast-forward over it, but always manage to still catch that extra annoying, off-key, nails-on-a-chalkboard last bit. Urrrgghhh...

Great until the last two
I have loved and looked forward to every episode and even gave myself about 30 minutes into todays 2nd episode- this woman drops so many - “expensive” “famous” “wealthy” rapper, Lamborghini, blah blah blah- I literally started feeling sick listening to her talk. She’s like the epitome of what’s gone so wrong in this overly materialistic society… she sounds proud and excited to be telling this story, she doesn’t sound sad or hurt. Gross. Sounds like they were made for each other. A perfect pair. I agree the song is tired and annoying

Love this podcast but hate the haters in the reviews
I am bothered by these hateful comments! Of course these women do not understand the stories of these women, yeah of course they have made mistakes but everyone does, we are all human thats human nature but the real power is how you let it effect you. I understand these women and loved their stories. Some women have never known the feeling of real love which causes them to fall into bad relationships or be with a man that is abusive and stay because it’s the only love they have ever had. It’s so sad really, and you dumb women are over here hating on them for what they have been thru or the bad mistakes they have made? Wow that just shows who you are, you should be ashamed of yourselfs to talk badly about another women like that when you don’t know what she’s going thru or how she feels honestly because you don’t understand. The women that get it and have been thru it they understand most definitely but you women who haven’t well clearly you don’t understand

The Zayla Episodes are AWFUL
I don’t even understand how or why this girl would’ve been on this podcast…she basically bragged the entire time about her time with this guy and all the material things she got and the trips and cars and then sprinkles in how “awful” he was even though she would continue to brush off how he acted…boohoo girl. UPDATE:subscriber complaint
I’m a subscriber to Wondery. It seems that as a subscriber, we get the episodes a week earlier but then the next week we get nothing? That’s not how it used to be. Previously I would get a new episode every week and the episode was available a week earlier than non-subscribers. I’m going to cancel my subscription and just wait a week for new episodes. Does wondery really think I’m paying just to get an ep. a week early but then nothing the next week?

Went Downhill Fast
I remember loving the first season of Something Was Wrong. I remember equally enjoying listening for a few more seasons. I learned how to look out for myself. I felt empathy for the people telling their stories. To be fair, I hated the organization of the seasons and episodes, and I absolutely loathe the theme song, but I could get past those quirks for the stories. That should’ve been my red flag that something indeed would become wrong. I couldn’t finish the Jake season. The main storyteller sounded fake, and it was hard to understand why she did anything she did. I stopped listening after about 3 episodes in hopes that the next season would be better. When the new season dropped, I tripped over myself to listen to it… and then immediately rolled my eyes when I realized the first episode was about Holly Madison. Are you kidding me? I respect the woman, but I thought this podcast was about REAL people who encounter REAL, everyday dangers when they put themselves out there. Her story is so one in a million, it’s laughable to put her on “Something Was Wrong” as if all of us will instantly connect with her. Seems like Tiffany just wanted to rub elbows with some C-list celebs. Sorry, hard pass. I got 10 minutes into Zayla’s episode. I ripped out my ear buds after she said, “I’m a princess and I deserve to be worshipped,” after Jaden bought her a Maserati. Absolutely disgusting. I am so disappointed that she was invited to this platform to complain about her privilege. Holly and Zayla make it harder for real victims to have their stories heard. If the victim stays because they like receiving material things, it seems a lot less like coercion and more like greed. If you know someone is manipulating you, but you stay because you want the mansion, the car, or the Louboutins, it’s not a good look, honey. I can’t keep going with this podcast anymore. It’s disingenuous and campy; it’s a venue for disgruntled people to rant about first world problems and making poor choices. I hope things change, but I won’t be sticking around to hear it.

This is a really great podcast that delves into very important issues. I love it, and so I feel really nit picky for pointing out the music. But that song that plays at the intro and the end…. Out of bounds
At first I was so invested. They made the claims that this guy was a psychopathic antisocial narcissist. And I was expecting proof. Like medical proof. Not just a millennial layman spouting off stuff she’s read on the internet and labeling this (nonetheless horrible) guy. These labels are real diagnoses. And not all people who have these diagnoses are horrible people. Just because someone does horrible things, it doesn’t mean they’re antisocial/psychopath narcissists. These women are using these words as buzzwords. They have ABSOLUTELY no authority to be labeling this (deranged) man with actual diagnoses.

Update** ugh Holly Madison, I’m officially no longer following/listening. Honest review. Wondery buy her a new song. I love the premise of the show but each season is hit or miss for me. Please stop with the multiple lengthy disclaimers. I feel like the format with one story is way to drawn out just to make it long enough to cover enough episodes so stop that. So two stories in one season if you have to. More conversation exchange, questions, interview format. This show has SO much potential, I hope Wondery helps you knock it out of the park!!

Disappointed with the changes
This podcast used to be about giving women a voice. Women who unknowingly were taken advantage, lied to etc. I just listened to the Holly Madison episode… you have GOT to be kidding me. I was partially through the episode when she talks about how she needed a place to live so she said yes to a date with Hef, slept with him and verbatim said “well if that happened I’m at least going to get what I want out of it by moving into the mansion because I had nowhere to live” You’re giving this woman a platform to talk about how she was planning and manipulating a situation with motives. Isn’t that usually who in these episodes we are talking about as the villain? Pathetic. Go back to giving people a voice who deserve it. I can only imagine the hundreds of women who submit to you that deserve to be heard. Not a woman who used sex to move into a mansion and then acted like she didn’t know what she was getting into and was “abused” Super disappointing. Ruined the podcast for me.

Not true crime
Needs heavy editing. When a guest repeats a sentence twice, but using different words to reinforce their comment, the episodes become too long and lose impact. The guests often don’t confront the people distressing them and make many assumptions of the”bad person’s” acts, thoughts, etc. without factual backup. Not useful. Politics unnecessary. This is more a family drama podcast, rather than true crime. P. S. Season 1. Sara disturbed me because she was more upset about being “body shamed” for cellulite than the fact that her boyfriend football kicked her dog. AND her friend who did nothing but leave when she witnessed it because she was so uncomfortable, really??

Good….but
Season 10 is so full of idiotic women it makes me want to scream. What is wrong with these stupid people? Not only are there predators out there, there are lots of people scrambling to become prey. Maybe there is something about using the word “like” for every third word or using “her and me” instead of “she and I” that makes one miss obvious red flags. Also…these guys wouldn’t get anywhere without lying about how much money they make. Stop being impressed they this, women.

Great stories, great host. The poor decision making skills of some of the interviewees will make you constantly facepalm. However, abusers tend to prey on damaged or emotionally fragile individuals. Ms. Reese is very caring and respectful towards her guests. She often gives information on abuser tactics beforehand. This helps inform the listener on how, and why abusers are successful.

Stop While You’re Ahead
This podcast used to be good but the quality of both the story and narrator are decreasing. Most seasons have been warranted but since we aren’t able to hear the other sides story - I take it with hesitation. However, season 14 did not have to be that long and the “survivors” really are placing all blame onto Jake and taking no accountability for their past decisions until episode 7 I believe when one woman talks about the analogy of the dog and putting her hand in the kennel to get bitten. The child abuse and sexual coercion is abhorrent - that is a fact. I feel for the children, they deserve great parents. They knew who Jake was so him not stepping up as a father is predictable. Why have a child with a man whom you’ve known so long and know his true colors - what did you expect from him? Why would you support a man financially/willingly and then be upset at him for it? I suppose it’s a choice every woman must make for themselves. I wish the “victims” would take accountability. Also, Tiffany has always been biased and it screams “I hate men” energy - she keeps crossing lines. Remain objective.

Tedious—had to give up.
I tried to listen to the first season, but between the poor audio quality of the people being interviewed and the unnecessarily loooong, repetitive, and tedious stories everyone tells…I just can’t. This is a horribly produced podcast. So many things could have been summarized by the host or heavily edited to make it more interesting and digestible for the listener. This probably could have reduced it to half the episodes. This guy sounds like a total douche, as do his friends who wrote that absurd letter to his “future wife,” and I’ve lost all interest. I like just listening to a story teller. Rarely the narrator speaks and I’m always thinking…who is THIs person?! But mainly it’s good. Season 15
I’m a long time listener. I’ve listened to all of the seasons and the newest episode was such a disappointment. Holly Madison is the reason why people generally question victims of abuse. While her experience is unfortunate, she is not a victim. She is someone who intentionally chose that lifestyle & wants to make money off of her “story”. This last episode was so unrelatable and comes from such a privileged perspective. She says in the beginning she was looking to be “famous”. So of course she sees the easiest way to do this is by networking and eventually getting involved with the playmates. She was in no way coerced or forced to stay in that situation. She said she wasn’t “aware” the girls had to sexually please Heff, but she was 21 when she joined? How is someone who has been in LA and in the party scene claim they did not know? The episode was so cringe to listen to. It’s unfortunate she was given this platform when she’s been given so many other larger “big media” platforms to share her “story” already. She’s also done so much printed press on this already why are we having to listen to it again? I thought this platform “amplified” minorities and wanted to give a voice to those who are many times are silenced? This is such a represention of how white people continue to virtue signal just to be on the ”right” side of history.

Dragging out the stories to make more episodes
I’ve listened to this show for a long time but it has gotten to the point that every episode feels the same as the last one. There was one episode recently where the host and the victims just repeatedly told each other they loved each other and were so honored to talk to each other. Which is fine and cool but those convos didn’t need to be in the episode. On top of that, I’ve read that the host is harassing and threatening people on other forums or something like that.

I used to REALLY like this podcast but stopped listening when they stopped putting the episode descriptions. I listen to a lot of podcasts and don’t have the energy or patience to see if the episode or season is going to be for ,me so sadly I just stopped. How is this helpful?
There was a good intent and it started good, but then it became just a talk between females and I could not figure out who is who as there is no introduction between speakers. Almost all episodes reminded me of high school girls drama talk after bad breakup. If the purpose of this show was to ensure women are more educated then why did you not disclose his name to warn others? Why is Sarah reaching out to all of his current and ex girlfriends and comparing stories publically if she is unwilling to disclose his name? And why not report him to police? What if he already has criminal record? Sure you got saved but what about the next unlucky he dates or marry or kills? There is so much rejection a person can take before he snaps. If the control is all he is looking, overtime he will ensure he stays in control at all times. I'm very disappointed how this turned out as I hoped for a good listen that could be educational.

Superb Podcast
This is not just a Podcast. It is a very well constructed, well-researched, educational, informative, detailed, and very necessary media form that provides insight into real-people’s lives and their hard-won battles against their abusers. It identifies patterns in and of behavior, and precisely illustrates how an incremental wearing down of a person’s sense of self and agency can leave them vulnerable and ultimately victimized and trapped. The topics covered in this Podcast are current and relevant.

I’m all done
I liked this podcast, though it was uneven at times. I like to hear a story first-hand, from people in all walks of life. But season 14 was challenging to listen to through its conclusion, for several reasons. First, please do some editing. Listening to someone read a long email or letter from Jake was excruciating. We get it, he’s a total jerk and not a good person at all. Also, you all seemed to get whipped into this frenzy of getting back at Jake. The Instagram page was a bad idea. Getting Jake fired was a bad idea. It doesn’t help your cases, honestly. It comes off as petty and probably gives Jake ammunition to sue you for defamation of character if any of this goes to court someday. Also, Tiffany totally crossed a line this season. She is crying, saying how lucky she is to be in this group, with all of you telling each other “I love you”?? If you’re the “documentarian” you say you are, Tiffany, be objective and present all the facts. Also, say the f-bomb less if you want to be taken seriously; it’s unprofessional. My last comment is Tiffany complaining about how bad the cops are in Seattle. Umm, do you keep up with current events? The citizens of Seattle didn’t want them on their streets. They couldn’t defund them fast enough. Drugs and homelessness are now ravaging the city. Small businesses (the ones who were lucky enough to make it through COVID and CHOP) are fighting for their livelihood against the robberies, broken windows and homeless people defecating in front of their store. Calls to police for breaking and entering are a 20-30 minute wait. So please forgive the cops for not jumping on the story of a mean guy who treats women badly and might have videotaped them during sex. Welcome to the new world that Seattle created for itself. I’m done with this podcast.

Season 14 says it all
Update: each season has become less of a personal experience and more of a collaborative effort to dox people and play and act as lawyers and the law. Do you know how awful, unnecessarily long, and tedious season 14 was?!!! Omg I was wrong to call out those who were actually right about how terrible this show has become and season 14 was the nail in the coffin folks. Also I’ve always hated that not one episode has any kind of summary in the text only a title which has made me so bitter towards this whole crap of a podcast program. I deeply hate this podcast after the latest season , Tiffany crossed lines and it’s second hand embarrassment for us as her audience. Please get off the stage Tiffany

I have no idea what episode is what, they seem like they’re all out of order and half are subscription only, It’s so confusing. Can you please use numbers in the titles or maybe the victim’s name and keep it consistent if there are multiple episodes for one story teller? I’m so lost

This podcast is amazing!
I’ve gone through similar situations in these stories. There is so many wackjobs out there but more importantly there are great support systems out there to assist in these traumatic experiences. The way that you allow them to share their stories and also provide education on these various topics at the same time is fantastic. I can’t thank you enough for putting this out there. It lets people know they are not alone. Much love!

Found my community
I love this show and wish I’d had something like it 30 years ago. Finding this show really helped me drop the quilt I felt after such a long-term abusive marriage. Listening to other survivors really validated the fact that abusers can be so good at their manipulation that even smart people can get caught up in their game. Keep going strong!!

Solid content but need a good producer.
Probably the podcast with the best content but SO poorly produced! These episodes can be done in a maximum of two episodes and be so much more helpful, easy to follow, and impactful if they were edited better. We don’t need to know she worked at Starbucks and the first time they were intimate. This show is badly in need of a GOOD producer.

As a black woman
So I am listening to season 14 and I feel like as a black woman our voices are the last to be heard. I feel some type of way that these white women went to a black owned business and wanted their voices to be heard and to think that what they are going through out weighs what the business stands for. I am just hearing white privilege at its finest. Just wow. Not saying they don’t have a point but did they think about it from a black persons perspective? Most likely no, and why would they?

Add a “star” but lose three
I’ve been a listener of the show since the beginning and have felt like each victim’s story deserves to be heard as a form of processing and healing for them while also helping others. However, the Holly Madison episode felt insincere and incongruent to what I’ve come to expect from this show. It left me feeling sad for the victims you’ve held space for in the past. Maybe it was just the way she came across, but I felt like her story, particularly on the heels of the Jake survivors’ stories, was less about needing a forum to heal, connect, and warn but more so an attempt for more notoriety for her own agenda. It rang hollow and didn’t do justice to the mission I believe you are committed to.

Season 14 - Jake
I just binged season 14 and holy crap! The bravery and vulnerability displayed by the women involved was truly inspiring. I would consider myself a confident, outgoing, and smart woman. However, I am also a woman who has been ghosted, love bombed, manipulated, and lied to by the majority of men I have been involved with. As an empath, I am naturally optimistic and often see the good in others. Although this is a great trait to have, it makes it difficult for me to see the evil that lies beneath. Thank you so much for sharing your stories and I am very proud of each and every one of you. Sending all my love!

What An Utter Debacle
Stumbled on this show purely on accident-it came in my search looking for another show, but it seemed intriguing. So two weeks ago I started in. The 1st season was a little confusing I guess would be a good way to say that, I think. Not great but not bad, but hard to follow the reasoning as it was explained. The 2nd season? Well, if you hang on to the end, it’s one that makes you question the humanity of others. So many people were horrible and did absolutely nothing to stop ‘Patty’. Oh plenty witnessed acts of pure evil but not a single person paused to help. Lots of people (including her offspring and siblings) let this go on for over a decade, watching as ‘Victoria’s’ life unraveled, even her psychiatrist couldn’t see apparently (very poor therapeutic skills if that’s the case) and I question the authenticity of the shows after that. I have to wonder if that’s not what Tiffany (the show host) saw, because the format changed completely. Then we start getting piecemeal episodes with so many ‘victims’- ones who drag others into their messes (including innocent children), blame everyone else, keep forgiving, looking past obvious red flags, dropping court orders, looking at things that should be clear and obvious warnings, yet stay out of some sense of, I honestly can’t say what, but stay, and here’s Tiffany, encouraging the morons despite allowing these idiots to destroy their lives and I just can’t. Judging from other reviews I’ve seen I’m not alone, so on that note, I’m tapping out. Let’s just agree you were warned.

What?!
This episode I listened to was so ridiculous. The teacher kept calling each kid they when speaking about them personally. It was embarrassing and insufferable. These kids are too young for her to push her labels on them. Talking about abuse while verbally abusing these children is disgusting. Horrible show.

These people are dysfunctional TO THE MAX
Seemed interesting at first, but the more I listened I was just so sick of all of them. I can’t imagine what they went through with that jerk, but they were so weak. Kaitlyn must have said a hundred times”maybe he changed?” Seriously? AFTER EVERYTHING she knew about him? Ridiculous. She cut him slack at every turn. Actually they all did. Going back to him over and over. There are deep seeded problems everywhere. They were all afraid to hurt his feelings when he treated them like garbage. “I needed to give him time to process. Mourn.” Good grief. Can your self-esteem be any lower? The whole story is sickening. The guy is a nightmare. Hope the kids are ok after all this crap.

Just found this!
I am wrapping up season 2 about to start the Q&A episode, and I am just astounded! Season 1 was definitely great, and compelled me to listen more, not knowing that it was going to be a completely different, even more insane story! All the beginning parts talking about Sylvia and how great she was and all that, I was just like what is going to happen, what horrible thing is she going to turn out to be?! I was on the edge of my seat! I am pretty much sick of the theme song though and I wish it was exactly 15 seconds, so I could skip it perfectly after Tiffany intros herself.

Went downhill fr
i'm unsubscribing because it's seriously gotten to be such trash and i'm so disappointed in the direction the host chose to go in. it seems like it's turned into more salacious content, instead of real abuse and red flags. i wish the host would ask more questions rather than the format it has taken on. not to mention the lack of fact checking or honestly bizarre guests she's had where the stories are just questionable and do not add up. sooo disappointed and over it. latest episode about the playboy girl is what sent me over. before that it was the weird girl whose friend literally didn't do anything wrong except make her uncomfortable and she didn't agree with her lifestyle because she was religious... someone should take the concept and actually execute it properly.

Very Ordinary
I usually don’t make comments on podcasts. I listened to the entire Season 1. Although the episodes are well produced I kept saying to myself “what is the story here.” The man (fiancé) in the story is not a person of good character. But you’d think he was Ted Bundy the way the story tries to frame him. He didn’t steal money and he didn’t commit violence. He was simply a jerk. But thousands of those relationships exist everyday. Where is the story?

“Accountability” is not “victim blaming”
I listened to season 14 and found myself also upset with the “victims”. At what point do we hold people accountable for making their own choices? I think Jake is horrible but to act like these women didn’t have a choice is continuing a culture that we also don’t hold people accountable for what they did. It’s insane to me. The worst is Melissa. She talks about how awful Jake is, then mentions how she willingly went to his place (she claims he manipulated her) then she gets pregnant.. ALL this AFTER she found out Jake was cheating on his wife with her. Mind you, she didn’t get pregnant then find out that she was a mistress - She KNEW and still brought an innocent baby into this world. Shame on all of you. The reason Jake hasn’t been arrested is because EVERYONE played a role in this. There are real victims of domestic violence. Women who will be killed if they leave their abusers, and yet, we give attention to women who willingly chose to procreate with a guy after MULTIPLE warning signs. It’s awful. And the hypocrisy! I am no way “woke” but to try to throw Converge under the bus about Jake because they employed him it’s LAUGHABLE! You all created babies with this monster AFTER he showed you who he was and yet, we want to throw converge under the bus? Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

Please Take Lessons
Keep going back to this podcast because the stories are initially interesting, but season 14 lost me. The host needs to take narrating lessons because her long, droll in the intros make me go cross-eyed and drool. You need to be natural. The story of this season was basically a bimbo who allowed unsympathetic, equally mindless homewreckers into her life and needed a serious wake-up call because MY GOD.

A Lesson in Bringing about Social Change
I finished season 14 moments ago. I am in awe. I think this season was something truly historical. Much of his behavior mirrors my ex. Over a decade later I’m still working past some of it. I’m just sitting at the edge of my bed feeling so proud of everyone involved in this season. Didn’t hit the mark
Past seasons have been done so well. The editing is always a little off but bearable. As for season 14; it’s too much. It drags on without points being made. It gets too emotional and not enough factual. And host gets intertwined into the situation it a way that feels inappropriate. This dude sounds absolutely awful in so many ways!! but all the women do is blame and take no accountability for their side of things. This really fell off for me. It feels dangerous to attack someone this way.

Real
I love the podcast! I like how everything is based on real people and real events. Tiffany does a great job walking the guests through their timeline and offers empathy and compassion in their story. I’m so glad there’s a platform for those to tell their stories so others can look for warning signs in relationships. As Tiffany said, the bravery these folks go through to mention it all takes a lot of guts, it also shows how in the end they got their power back. God bless them all! One of my top ten go to podcasts, keep up the good work!

This show is garbage
I really liked some of the earlier episodes. The host always rubbed me the wrong way a bit and I tended to skip over the parts where she came in with her usual “i’M sO sOrRy” monologue. As you get further into the seasons, the quality goes down. This podcast feels petty and dramatic. It’s one-sided and almost takes on a bullying vibe. The “victims” take no accountability for really poor choices. Not sure if the host is trying to be an investigative journalist, but the FBI phone call was cringe to listen to. I started playing the Holly Madison episode of the new season and just turned it off after a few minutes. I’m done. I honestly think this host should not have a platform.

I have to agree with some of the others
Season 14 began to go way too long. That's why the final episode fizzled out. At least one of the women's character isn't up to par by knowingly sleeping with a man she knew was in a relationship. To me the real victims are the children. I loved the other seasons. Im about to start season 15 now. I have high expectations. I do wanna say i appreciate you giving victims a platform to tell their stories

Awesome Show
I absolutely love the show. I actually started listening to it because I LOVE crime junky and Jessica told the story of Jaz and I decided to give this podcast a try. Super awesome and it gets you hooked. The only negative thing I have about this podcast, is how monotone Tiffany can be when she gives us the background of a story or what “something” means. Or if she wants to tell us something in the middle of the story. I just wish she could more herself like she was when she did season one with Sara or when she was talking to her blogger friends or when she talked to her friend that was also in a cult. Other than that I will continue to listen to the show and it’s AMAZING!!!

I’ve listened to true crime for years. I searched for a new podcast to listen to and found this. I was on a long drive for, so I started binging this. When I was on episode 4, I opened pod on the app, and got excited there were so many season 1 episodes. ( Excited , because this is so good, and this only season 1 ) . For the first season of a multi season podcast, this is really good. I’m anxious to listen to the rest of this season, then the following seasons, then find out the other work these folks have done. I’m sorry but this podcast has some really entitled and self-centered guests. Also can we stop stating how much the DV victims weigh compared to the abuser. It doesn’t matter how much you weigh!! Abuse is abuse!! It doesn’t make it any worse when the victim is “petite”.

Mostly Compelling
Okay, first of all. Season 1 was fantastic and got me hooked on this podcast. So far, nothing has quite lived up to that unfortunately. I really appreciate the storytelling and hearing from people who have experienced things I could never imagine; however, sometimes the person talking can get off topic or the dialogue just seems to go nowhere other than complain about things that aren’t interesting (I have co-workers for that) and I wish there was more editing. I’ve skipped quite a few episodes because they were very boring. I still love it though, it’s more interesting than not.

It’s called editing.
The pettiness (why are we constantly reminding listeners he urinated on himself? “he’s not smart” “he’s a loser”) and lack of actual content (just the main women gossiping by last two episodes) and the way this season (14) dragged on is very disappointing. Whole season could have been 1-2 episodes tops. Seems like host got wrapped up in story/, invested in the characters and forgot to zoom out and consider if this was actually a story that was captivating / content-rich enough to take up 12 episodes that are 1- 1.5 hours long each. Let me save you the time - it isn’t. Skip.

So relatable and heartbreaking.
This whole series reminded me of my fiancé when I was 19 years old, and he was 25–back in the 90s. It may as well have been about him, the similarities were eerie. I had to vanish and move across the country with my cat and my clothes because it’s all that would fit in my car. I empathize with these women so much because I know what it’s like to have your emotions weaponized against you, and I know the gaslighting, financial, emotional, and physical abuse just breaks you all the way down. When people say—why didn’t you just leave? It’s not like that. It’s not that easy. I’m so glad you all got out and I hope Jake is held accountable one day. Men like Jake will NEVER change, they only get worse. I hope everyone stays away from him. All the best to you.

I found this podcast on Wondery+ and have been devouring past seasons. They're true stories you'll naturally want to tell your friends to listen to. Especially Rachel from 2020. She's the most raw and relatable story, and it's healing to hear if you've been through anything ever. Her life is important to understand, and there's hope at the part where the season ends. The generous spirit of the host, Tiffany Reese, brings it all together.

Lazy production
Would it kill you to put a little introduction at the beginning of each podcast (a recap of the week before, or an indication that this week’s is a sequel or something)? Just jumping in each week is super confusing and seems exceptionally lazy. Even the worst productions give a little recap from the week before. One-sided narratives without any investigation or other perspectives is just strange. It’s LAZY.

Unsure about S14 ethically
I do enjoy the show, but Season 14 was concerning to me. In particular Episode 10. There is a heavy implication that the man who was at the helm of Converge must have been getting something untoward out of the relationship with Jake to justify his continued employment. But this implication comes on the heels of a whole series about smart, independent people who were totally manipulated by Jake because he can really turn on the charm when he needs to. So it seems equally plausible that that’s what happened in his work relationships.. I didn’t think these two possibilities were fairly presented. For a small company, it seems like they were probably doing their best and handled this imperfectly. They were probably scared that they were going to get sued or that the whole company would be destroyed based on these allegations, which made them defensive. And overall I don’t really understand the argument that a company who hires an employee — even a full time employee — makes a representation to the entire community that the person is a good person. Given the vast web of Jake’s deception, anything could be true of him so I understand why it could be hard to draw a line as to what’s implausible. But accusing others seems over that line to me without more proof than was presented here.

Informative, thanks Tiffany
I thought this season was really informative and important to be shared. This happens all too often to women and this dude sounds extremely dangerous. Some people mean to tell me, that have left reviews, think Tiffany picked these women because they are white? Do you even know if they are? MSM loves y’all to think white people just go around thinking about their whiteness all day. This has nothing to do with race or gender or anything like that. This is an extremely serious problem and this guy has had no repercussions for his violent, manipulative and narcissistic behavior. Why do people focus on race or gender of people telling the story, rather than the facts? How are these women “whining”? The world has gone cold, selfish and too woke and have lost empathy. The corruption in our justice system also needs to be exposed because they lack doing anything for many people struggling with situations like this. Seems that the justice system hardly punishes people for their actions which further fuels their malignant behavior. Tiffany isn’t making it about her either, she’s advocating for people that need a platform to expose dangerous people and situations that can happen to anyone and anytime.

Please Take Them Seriously
I am so glad Tiffany gives women a platform to share their experiences. People should realize Jake is more than a toxic cheater. He has served time for child abuse and was held accountable to the law, but he has not been truly investigated with anything related to the creation of nonconsensual pornography. Despite what you personally think of the women speaking, please understand that this is a serious matter that warrants at least a looking into by law enforcement.

Gone off the rails/bullying/abuse
This podcast has consistently been my go-to favorite. But season 14 is problematic. I believe the victims, but it really comes off as a gossip-fest, smear campaign, and bullying effort. While I hope that there are legal consequences to Jake’s behavior, going after his place of work and creating a whole Instagram page and MENTIONING HIS LAST NAME is out of line. What do you want the guy to do, kill himself? Nothing will ever make what he did okay, but now the guy has lost employment and has hundreds, maybe thousands harassing him online. If you believe human beings deserve dignity and respect, this includes all human beings, even Jake. Hold him accountable in whatever way you can, but quit trying to ruin his life. He’s not a public figure and doesn’t deserve this kind of outing. The guy deserves a modicum of privacy and the right to employment. Or is this an eye for an eye type deal you’re engaging in here? Because that’s what it seems like. While the law isn’t fair in these situations and often neglects to deliver punishment, vigilante justice is flat out wrong. Exposing this guy to thousands of people now abusing him IS ABUSIVE. You are being abusive. You’ve gone too far and it’s sickening. There’s a fine line between accountability, revenge, and abuse and you have crossed. Abuse in return for abuse will not make anything better.

Tiffany - stick to telling the story
I used to really like this show but season 14 feels almost… gossipy? Especially towards the end! Could have been two episodes shorter if you took out all of Tiffany’s fruitless (and unwarranted?) FBI calls and the unnecessary re-hashing of feelings over and over and over. While I think stories like this are really important to share and I’m glad S14 covered this one, I think the chatter and informal gossip style phone sessions of them roasting Jake really do a disservice to the podcast and to the hard work Tiffany puts in- not to mention the very real trauma that these women experienced. Love the show, just keep it professional!

Irresponsible
While the guy does seem like a creep at best, season 14 feels very irresponsible. Putting out someone’s real name and alleging crimes that have not been proven in court (the pornography stuff) just screams “sue me for defamation.” Two stars because the episodes corroborated by court records were actually compelling.

Like the Show, Can’t Stand the Host
I’ve listened to most seasons of this podcast and have enjoyed it but I can’t stand Tiffany. The way she interacts with the people who are telling their stories is insincere, unprofessional and quite frankly, annoying. And for the love of all things holy, get a new theme song.

Season 14
Waaaay too long. While I’ve listened for years, this season 14 story seems to waste my time versus me ending each episode with a WOW!! Constructive criticism - don’t have this be each episode a monologue of a victim talking - interact with them. And cut it by half. I know you want us to hear ‘everything’ but to be frank, it gets really boring. This one just drug on, and on and on…..super said to report this. But after listening to another podcast I realized just how bad this one was.

I was disappointed after listening for 13 weeks that to hear the last episode you needed to subscribe. That’s such a bummer as I’ve finished other episodes from this same podcast and enjoyed them. Ultimately I will delete it from my podcast library. I hope these ladies get what they wanted. Unfortunate.

What is going on…
I started this show from season one and thought it was really interesting but now it just seems like a platform for people who are holding a grudge and don’t want to take responsibility for their actions. Not trying to invalidate anyones experiences, but there’s a time and a place for these stories and on a podcast that so heavily talks about trauma and abuse, some stories seem inappropriate. There also should be a mental health consultant and other legal help if the host is going to be doing all she’s doing in season 14. I totally understand and appreciate wanting to help by sharing these stories but the “I love you’s” and crying over each other saying how close they’ve gotten between those telling their stories and the host in the latest episode of season 14 is troubling.

Conflicted
I really liked the stories that started off this whole series. I’ve recommended this show to so many people because of the degrees people will go to, to lie and present themselves as someone/something they’re not. So it’s a good “head ups, there are some truly crazy people out there” reminder. On the other hand, I really can’t stand Tiffany. I roll my eyes every time she offers her apologies because they sound so insincere and then she starts crying as if it’s happening to her and goes on and on and on; ultimately making it about her. It’s just annoying. Towards the ending up season 14, she records and plays for us her conversations with the FBI, like it’s her story now. Did anyone even ask her to get involved the way she has? Did anyone ask her to try to get Jake put in jail? She really annoyed me this season. Omg…. and, PLEASE CHANGE THE THEME SONG.

Wow, wow, wow!!!
I have listened to almost all seasons of the SWW podcasts, and this one had me hooked within the first 5 minutes. I listened with awe, disgust, hatred (for Jake only) fury and disbelief that one person could inflict so much pain into so many lives, with nary a thought to what he has done and continues to do. Narcissism at the ultimate level. I am awed by the courage of every woman involved in trying to bring this evil man to justice, and my sincere hope is that they are successful very soon. I will be waiting to hear the outcome! Good luck to all these women and children 😊

Re: Converge Media episode
First, I want to say that I usually enjoy this podcast and have enjoyed many of the prior seasons. I also found the episodes leading up to 14.10 very informative. But this episode was deeply troubling to me and I think you should consider how privilege and identity impact how you frame stories going forward, especially when they include people from ALL marginalized identities, not just White women. A choice was made, in my opinion, to present the episode in a way that scapegoated a Black media company, framing them as collaborators or contributors to Jake’s abuse. This was so weird to me. An entire episode was devoted not just to Jake’s behavior at Converge but to Converge’s own apparent complicity. A point-of-view that not only makes no legal sense but also completely disregards ALL the intersectional issues at play. How is a Black company responsible for the harm a White man committed against other White women? Why is it repeatedly said that Converge media “brought him into OUR community” when the women repeatedly say they weren’t involved in the social justice community in Seattle, and none of the women who were involved spoke up to clarify what this meant? Why did Omari, the host, and the women Jake victimized repeatedly mention Black women and none of them were interviewed (even if they asked and declined, that should’ve been a clue)? If Jake had been a photographer at a predominately White media company, would you have told the story the same way? The fact that the women felt anger towards Converge is understandable and should be mentioned. If someone who abused me worked at a certain place, I’d probably feel the same anger towards it too. What I don’t get is why the episode was framed in such a way that held Converge Media (a Black-owned company aimed to raise awareness for and uplift Black voices) at least partially responsible for the abuses of Jake Gravbrot, a White male part-time freelancer. An objective, intersectional, socially responsible storytelling framework should have kept this in mind. Disappointingly, that did not happen.

This show is telling important stories-however, these women need intense therapy & to work on themselves. It’s very concerning to hear women continue to make decisions to be near problematical men.

So torn!!
Whoa wait a minute… the second half of the season is very focused on the riots and protests in Seattle regarding distain for the police and wanting to defund them, threatening them to the point that a huge number of them quit so they are understaffed, etc.(sensing maybe a little hidden agenda maybe but not sure). Then you turn around and talk about how the police that you are trying to get rid of and had half the force quit do to the hate and violence that were thrown at them and then are mad that they don’t want to help you?! This makes me confused and saddens my heart. If your against them then don’t bother them with wanting their help when you slander them and threaten them and tell them how horrible they are. I’m not pro police in anyway and believe a huge reform is necessary but there is a way to do it. I 100% believe that Jake is an absolute pathetic monster that needs to be off the street and my heart aches for these woman but even I can see how backwards that is and so it makes my heart ache for the good officers that are put in this situation. Ugh my heart is so torn!!

A Place for the Voiceless
This is the show for those who have suffered, and survived. For those who’ve tried to fight against injustices upon their safety, only to be turned away by the system that swears it’s there to protect them. Tiffany Reese is, IMO, the epitome of a saint; someone who spends their life just trying to shed light, and bring voice to the voiceless. If you feel like the world around you is uncaring and cold, simply listen to season 14 (yes, all the way through), and you’ll find some faith in humanity again. To the survivors of Jake Gravbrot’s impotent decency, we salute you.

Cautionary tales for those wanting see some good in everyone
My God. I cannot imagine how anxious it would make someone having to share the experiences discussed on this podcast and it really sounds like the survivors are hoping to spare another soul from being treated so poorly. It makes me sad to read the reviews of season 14 that make negative comments about the women. We’re going into the podcast knowing the theme so its not fair to make remarks about decisions made when all the information we have wasn’t available to the women (which is the reason they’re telling their stories). Living through these situations is different than hearing a story and who really expects someone they’re dating to be that bad! I don’t know a single person, male or female that can say they’ve never been caught off guard and Jake Gravbrot clearly preys on his partners good nature and has children with no regard for their wellbeing. I hope Converge begins requiring background checks for people that represent the organization. Having a record wouldn’t have to make someone unemployable and an employer should want to know if a potential employee or independent contractor has been convicted of child abuse.

I can't listen any longer
I was never a big fan of SWW; I primarily listened while working for background noise. I started around season 9 after this latest season, 14, and I can no longer passively engage with this podcast. The show is problematic on several levels, with implicit bias as one of them. The show would greatly benefit from an editor, fact checker, and engagement with a mental health professional(s). The content produced seems more detrimental to its guest than anything else.

Good Story But...
Season 12: Kenzie - please do yourself (and listeners) a favor and review 5th grade grammar - particularly your pronouns (him/her he/she) and the difference between subjects and objects. Brush up on your I's and me's also. You'll sound much more intelligent and credible. Your speech is riddled with pronoun mistakes which totally distract from your story.

Listen to entire season before judging the survivors
Yes this season is frustrating but hearing the women and how they have healed is worthwhile. Their friendships are amazing. Jake is ugly inside and out, must have been a master manipulator because he really looks like a slob in pix . Season 1 never questioned how having a highly authoritarian male head of household and a very strict religious upbringing played into her being a victim of a con man. The grown woman just went from taking orders from an abusive boyfriend back to taking orders from her Dad. It would be a more compelling podcast if it dug into the societal grooming that makes women more vulnerable to abusers even if questioning their religious beliefs but that was season 1 and it keeps getting better.

A podcast that has truly helped me heal
I reached a very dark point in life last year with a lot of trauma surfacing along with things in life happening around me that were out of my control, I felt at my lowest. I found this podcast and as I listened hearing real stories of people that have gone through so much, it no doubt made me feel less alone. This podcast has helped me seek out resources and a community to aide in my healing process. The host Tiffany is awesome and is always so informative on the topics at hand so you can really learn insight on what you potentially might be dealing with or going through. Not exactly sure why people care so much about the intro song? It’s fine it doesn’t last very long and the actual content within this podcast is enough to not care about something like that, plus the lyrics make sense with the podcast anyways. Thank you so much Tiffany for creating this platform, I will be a forever listener and always grateful to the help this podcast has provided me <3!

Season 14
I miss the types of stories you would have in the beginning seasons. I hate saying this, but it seems that the latest season is a bunch of bitter women trying to ruin Jake’s life. He is an idiot and should be charged for the child abuse, but I don’t think there’s anything you can prosecute him for other than that. I’m starting to feel uncomfortable with the high school girl gossip vibes though..

Giving up on this podcast
Finally after 14 seasons I gotta walk away from this host. The interjections by the host are cringe worthy, especially in the latest seasons. This isn’t a podcast with great investigative reporting or anything, sometimes it feels like the seasons drag on forever with a lot of he said, she said, but it was interesting hearing the stories of those willing to share.

Racial biases
Season 14 was intriguing, but I found the way that Tiffany and the others addressed Converge Media’s role to be very problematic. I agree that the org could have acted quicker, but it seems Jake was fired shortly after the allegations came forward, several statements/public apologies were released, they did a special on it and Omari did a long interview on the podcast. Critics are saying that they should have done background checks on employees, without acknowledging that background checks can be expensive, as well as very harmful to communities of color bc they expose felonies from an undeniably racist criminal system. So it’s not surprising that a small Black-led company didn’t prioritize background checks. And Jake also worked with a band and a bar— both of which went unnamed in the podcast — that a couple women said were the reasons they trusted him bc they had mutuals. Yet they spent at least an hour focusing on Converge. It seems like this group of white women and what appears to be a mostly white fan base are trying to take down a small Black media company in a city that is only 7% Black, without acknowledging their privilege as white women, their own biases, or the nuance of the situation. Tiffany, PLEASE address this in a future episode and try to do better.

The people’s stories are interesting but the host’s reactions seem insincere and repetitive. I take offense to the host interrupting the victims’ stories with foul language and personal comments. Listening to season 14 is like watching a washed up one-hit wonder perform their latest lip singing bomb. Some of these seasons have been great and captivating. Some were good, this season is just terrible. The production is boring and I can’t help but get the overwhelming sense that the women are scorned and bitter. I can’t get onboard with trying to destroy Jake. The podcast backfired and actually makes me feel sorry for him and dis-like the victims. Something was wrong and it’s this season.

Season 1 intriguing but could use improvement
I think this podcast is great to notice a lot of similar red flags in men who targets and victimize women with emotional abuse. There is one thing that annoyed me. At the beginning of some episodes, you all would have conversations but not go into detail before hand and it just seemed like a terrible way to keep people intrigued because it would go on for several minutes (a good chunk of the episode). Maybe have a short intro and then into the discussion (ie S1E11-there’s a pattern). You all started ranting about him and talking about posts but as a listener, personally, I had no idea what you were seeing, what you were all so excitingly talking about. So it left the listener a bit annoyed and confused. BUT overall, this is a great episode for women/partners in manipulative and abusive relationships. Can’t wait to hear other seasons and see how much this podcast improves and hear more stories to stay more aware.

Something is wrong with this podcast …
Updating my old review based on the most recent episode. This show went from insincere to irresponsible with the host’s call to the FBI that reported no federal crimes. The only thing impressive about this call was the FBI operator being so diplomatic despite the obvious issues with the non-crimes and already adjudicated state-law crimes being reported by a third-party “advocate” and “documentarian.” I used to really appreciate this podcast, and then was conflicted about it as the psychobabble started to overtake the content. This was once a good forum for women to share their stories, but it just lost whatever credibility it had left. Bye y’all - I’m going to miss the space that this podcast used to be.

Edit season 14 was 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Some of these reviews are disgusting really. Judging & criticizing a persons story that it clearly revised & simply hitting the ‘high points.’ How easy it is to critique what someone should’ve done, or not, w/out actually being in the thick of day-to-day life w/the other person involved. Usually pretty good but season 14 is a DRAG. There are way too many episodes all saying the same thing with no apparent climax in sight. - Introducing SUSPECT: Vanished in the SnowFor more than three and a half decades, the disappearance of 12-year-old Jonelle Matthews was a mystery – a riddle neither authorities nor her family members could solve. The residents of her cloistered Colorado hometown had scoured every inch of prairie. Jonelle’s face had been on milk cartons nationwide. Even the President of the United States had appealed to the public for help. Still, every lead had fizzled. Every person of interest had turned out to be a dead end. Then, in 2019, Jonelle’s remains were unearthed near the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. With the discovery came a troubling new question: Had the truth been hiding in plain sight the entire time? Was the man who couldn’t stop obsessing over Jonelle’s disappearance also the person who took her? From Campside Media and Wondery comes season two of SUSPECT. Former CNN reporter Ashley Fantz and executive producers Matthew Shaer and Eric Benson (Suspect, Over My Dead Body) dig into one of the most mind-bending cold cases in modern history, in an attempt to separate fact and fiction, compulsion from guilt, and true-crime fandom from a motive for murder. Hey Prime Members, you can binge all 6 episodes of SUSPECT: Vanished in the Snow ad-free on Amazon Music. Download the Amazon Music app today: Wondery.lnk.to/SWW_SuspectS20 comments0
