Lessons in Pokemon and in Life (listen to #72)

I’ve been listening since 2021, which led to now following Dani, Jordan, and Nate’s respective content on other socials due to their sheer positivity and entertainment factor. When I’ve listened to all the newest episodes, I go back through the backlog. This morning, I listened to episode 72, the intervention, where Nate shared that we all have value outside of our material possessions. For a podcast about a collector’s hobby, this really struck me in a profound way, and I’m sure it will strike others along the way. Thank you all for being beacons of light and sharing yourselves and your content with everyone.

Barely Pokémon, Extremely Annoying

After barely managing to sit through one episode, I am confident that I will not listen to a second. They barely talked about the listed topics. Each member is incredibly irritating in their own unique way. Between the awful, overused soundboard and the lady’s constant weird voices and noises; not a minute went by that I didn’t hate.

Don’t Waste Your Precious Poké Time!

I have to say, this podcast has really fallen of a ledge. Most of the air time is spent in meaningless banter with the most annoying sounds intermittently spliced in to make it almost unbearable. The only Pokémon-related topics that are discussed is new products on pokemoncenter.com (which anyone can easily look up) and reading, verbatim, news articles off of pokebeach.com (which, again, anyone can easily look up). This podcast was really great in the beginning and was always on my weekly roundup, but now I would highly recommend taking your listening enjoyment of all things Pokémon elsewhere.

Extremely disappointed

This podcast tries too hard to be an FM radio show and really is hot garbage. They think they’re funny while spending almost 30 minutes talking about pure nonsense and being hyper annoying. The awful sound board is used way too often, at inappropriate times and far too loud. They have had almost nothing worth listening to and I’ve tried their last two episodes and couldn’t finish either of them.

Really?

I have been listening to about 3 podcasts or more per day since around 2007 and I don’t think I’ve ever seen this level of nonsense before. I listened to the Gen 9 reveal episode and they didn’t talk about the topic until the VERY end for a few minutes. The first almost 40 mins was… a nonsensical fever dream that almost didn’t feel real. As I don’t believe in not giving them a fair shake, I’ll try another random episode if the title intrigues me and see if I just didn’t get it (?) or what.

A Pokemon podcast that is 50% Pokemon, 20% Ads for non sponsors, 13 % Dani’s Frustration, 17% Jordan’s finances, and 100% a must listen. A different take on the Pokemon news from the week, is captained by Nathanial who exhausts himself on a weekly basis trying to keep his cohosts in line. His counter parts are Jordan F Baby as he goes by on Soundcloud, and Gen3 as she goes by on Myspace. Jordan’s vast, and kind of troubling on a very deep level, amount of 90’s pop trivia and culture helps to break down the topics at hand, and expose the inner workings of the business side as well as fan theories and occasional drops of his up and coming “phat” tracks. Dani’s personality, and reactions will keep you engaged and on the edge of your speakers. You never know when there will be a random noise, yell, or “so precious” thrown around. The three of them have a really great chemistry, and as long as the podcast never faces the possibility of cancellation because of Dani’s ability to survive through any type of video game play through it will only continue to be more successful. You might be asking what’s with the title of this review. Well that’s simple. It was the best product I could find to, after you pour it down the drain of course, smash your disgusting cream soda cans into a more compact form to be recycled. After all we can all agree that we should be looking out for our planet because it’s the only one we’ve got. Unlike flavors of beverages, which there are a vast amount of, and the only one you should NOT be drinking is Cream Soda.

Is this a Pokemon podcast?

Hard to tell sometimes. How many weeks in a row can the first topics be cream soda and cinnamon toast crunch? 2 weeks- fine. 5+ weeks is a bit ridiculous. I am not spending my valuable time listening to hear repeated silly arguments like that. Feels like it takes 15-20 mins to get to Pokemon. Should I skip past the first 15 mins every week?

Great podcast

Jordan: *talks passionately for a couple minutes* Nate: “so laughing pikachu...” Laughing Pikachu: *talks passionately for a couple minutes* Nate: “wow perfect perfect I couldn’t have said it better myself” This would be a 5 star rating but I’ve got to say the newest episode was really hard to listen to. I’m definitely mostly here for Jordan. Every time I listen to him talk to anyone he really speaks to people very genuinely. No matter who it is you really get the sense of talking human to human. I know Nate and this Laughing Pikachu had history within the community but he was coming off less like a grateful friend and more like a fan putting her on a pedestal. It was just really awkward to listen to

Can’t wait for the next!

As a kid and now adult collector, I’m really enjoying these first few episodes and RBN and Jordan do a great job. I can’t wait to see what cards they will pick for the master set and I hope to be able to follow along! I wish they could be longer haha!

They’re the very best that no podcast ever was

Been watching these two fellow Pokémon fans on YouTube for a long time & now they are even easier to just listen to while driving/working out, anything really! They both got this 30yr old back into collecting! My wallet doesn’t thank them but my heart does hahaha.... I started my Pokémon journey in 1998 been playing all the games since then never stopped that part but I did stop collecting items/Cards soon after the Exploration sets came out because well they looked different from my other cards and as a kid I didn’t know any better also I was going higher up in middle school & it was getting *not so cool* to collect cards Well both Jordan & Nate helped me find the strength in showing my love for the world of Pokémon & show that it is actually cool just as cool as a Cool Porygon! So I THANK YOU both for the positive vibes & inspiration into getting back in the collecting game of Pokémon & also the game of making content myself. *pokemon theme song* ”Gotta Hear them all, SHADOWLESS!!!”

Fantastic

Been watching both these guys for over a year. Here’s the kicker I don’t even collect Pokémon. I just love the insight on the hobby. Both are great separate, but together they are unstoppable.
