My go to
Rev Rachel is absolutely wonderful! I happened upon her podcast while looking for some help with personal difficulties and it has become my all time favorite. Whenever I’m feeling a little down or irritable or just dissatisfied, I find one of her podcasts and it helps me get back into a healthy part of my brain and reminds me that I’m ok and I can do whatever is in front of me. I’m so grateful for her wise perspective and loving energy!

Racheal will calmly tell you the truth about addiction. She does not preach. She simply lays out the reality of addiction and helps you accept that reality . I highly recommend seeking her advice !

Very inspirational
I met Rachel at Unity Spirtual Center Denver when she was giving a Sunday sermon. She spoke about addiction and life struggles she experienced. Wow that really hit home for me. After the sermon I approached her about my life struggles knowing I needed to recover my soul and take control over my life again. She gave me her card and I starting to her wonderful podcast than decide to make an appointment for a coaching session. I really liked the way she went about her sessions not letting you blame others for what you have chosen to do in your life but to find what is going in your soul to help get you back on the right path to recovery. Now I have had 2 sessions in my mind I have got more out of them than the last year of counseling I been doing. I look forward to more sessions so I can kick my addiction and save my marriage. Thanks Rachel you are the angel that I needed.

Life changing
The Recover Your Soul podcast grounds me each week. After listening to a few episodes, I booked a one-on-one session with Rachel. That session changed my life. I’ve seen counselors and therapists over the years, and finally have found someone (Rachel) who offers guidance above and beyond all the rest. It’s a blessing to schedule a session as challenges arise and listening to her podcasts 2x per week offers true guidance and clarity. Beyond grateful!

- Caring about how you Feel in Soul RecoveryMake a one time donation to support the Recover Your Soul Podcast on the home page or become a monthly supporter from $3 to $10. Sometimes, we may find our lives overwhelming because we give others the power to control our emotions, and sometimes we may even struggle to identify our own feelings. However, our feelings offer insights into what we need to prioritize, such as nurturing what's causing us pain or pursuing activities that bring us joy. By reclaiming our power and refusing to allow others to dictate our emotions, we can start caring about how we feel and move towards a happy and healthy life…embracing Soul Recovery. In this episode I mention the feelings and emotions from Atlas of the Heart from Berne Brown and also mention that I listen to/watch Abraham Hicks and the Law of Attraction. - Al-Anon- Illusion we can Change Others and Admitting we are PowerlessI was inspired by a question from Al-Anon's workbook ' Reaching for Personal Freedom' in the chapter for Step One that read"What keeps me holding onto the illusion that I have the power to change someone else?" Seeing that it is only an illusion that we can change others is a crucial step in achieving personal freedom and growth. It is natural to want to help those we care about and to try to change their behaviors or situations that we see as harmful or negative. However, the truth is that we cannot control others, and trying to do so can lead to frustration, disappointment, and even resentment. By recognizing our powerlessness over others, we can focus our energy on changing ourselves and our reactions to the people and circumstances in our lives. This shift in focus allows us to take responsibility for our own well-being and to develop the tools we need to navigate challenging situations and relationships in a healthier way. It takes courage and humility to acknowledge our powerlessness, but doing so is a critical step in our personal and spiritual growth. When we let go of the illusion of control and accept what we cannot change, we create space for growth, healing, and transformation in our own lives.... Soul Recovery. For more information about Rev. - Recover Your Soul: A Spiritual Path to a Happy and Healthy Life Mar 6 · 28m Do I need to Change my Life to Heal Now?Support the Recover Your Soul Podcast and community with a donation ranging from $3 to $10 each month. Thank you for your support! You know it is time for Soul Recovery but you may ask if you need to leave your relationship, job.... (insert the blank here) so that I can finally heal. It is easy to think that if we just got away from what was complex in our lives it would be all better and we could finally heal. However, that doesn't always need to be the case, and sometimes it may benefit us to stay in uncomfortable (not unsafe) situations and do our inner work. By doing our Soul Recovery and allowing for growth and healing before making big changes we are better able to have clarity about what changes do need to be made allowing us to not be running from our problems- but learning and growing from them and then making choices that are from our strength and not from our pain. Together we can do the work that will recover your soul. For more information about Rev. - Choosing the Path of Love or the Path of FearSupport the Recover Your Soul Podcast and community with a monthly donation ranging from $3 to $10 each month. Thank you for your support!!!!!!!!!!!!! For this episode, I want to talk about the two paths that are available to us to walk in our life at any moment, we may think that we can stand still, but really we know there is no standing still, there is always movement, one direction or the other direction. One Direction is love, and the other direction is fear. Once we recognize this truth we can take responsibility for our happiness and our Soul Recovery journey... and choose love. - How to Stop Ruminating and having Arguments with People in your HeadSupport the Recover Your Soul Podcast and community with a monthly donation ranging from $3 to $10 each month. Thank you for your support!!!!!!!!!!!!! There was a post in the Recover Your Soul Community Facebook group that stood out to me because it was a huge part of my pain from the past and what I used to ruminate over and I wanted to share my process of healing around it. The post read"Does anyone else have a running obsession in their head of conversations they'd like to have with someone in their lives? Seems like I spend way too much time ruminating about perceived grievances and what I'd like to say." Having conversations and arguments with people who are not in the room with us can take a lot of our energy and generally not healthy for us. In this episode I offer ways to use Soul Recovery to stop ruminating in general as well as looking at these inner conversations and dig deeper into what is really going on in our hearts that can bring about real healing and changes in our lives. Thank you for your support!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was inspired by a quote from the book Loving Kindness by Sharon Salzburg to use Soul Recovery concepts as steps to learn how to Love Ourselves to Wholeness. “Love for others without the foundation of self love becomes a loss of boundaries, codependency, (addiction) and a painful and fruitless search for intimacy.” 6 Steps to Love yourself into wholeness In Soul Recovery Lean into your Higher Power - Faith foundation of self love Basic Goodness Accept ALL of you - light and dark side Self-Compassion and then Forgiveness Recognize your gifts from your Higher Power- Your Purpose Keep the focus on yourself and let go of the pain others have caused you or that you may have caused others. - The AA Promises Come True - Celebrating 5 Years of Soul Recovery and Living Alcohol FreeSupport the Recover Your Soul Podcast and community with a monthly donation ranging from $3 to $10 each month. Thank you for your support!!!!!!!!!!!!! On February 10th, 2023 I will celebrate 5 years of continuous sobriety from alcohol and the start of my Soul Recovery journey. I thought drinking was the solution for the pain I had in my heart and it took me a long time to be willing to let it go. Years before I quite drinking someone had torn out The AA Promises from the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous and given them to me. I read them often but the promises seemed to much to ask for when I was in the darkness of my addiction to drinking, but mostly the suffering from wanting my life to be different and trying to control people and circumstances around me. 5 years of choosing to not drink every day and digging into my Soul Recovery has given me a life that the promises offered that I never thought possible. I am grateful. For more information about Rev. - Recover Your Soul: A Spiritual Path to a Happy and Healthy Life Jan 30 · 27m Why We Hold onto our Pain and how to Let it GoWe all have pain, that is part of being human. What do we do with this suffering and pain? Do we allow it move through us teaching us what we need to learn? Do we build up defense mechanisms and patterns that keep us from feeling the pain? Why are we holding onto it and protecting it? Honoring our pain and suffering can feel counter intuitive, however it is a path that can lead us to healing and truly letting go, learning from the emotions and moving forward in our lives with peace. In this episode I mentioned 2 books that have been influential to me. 1. The Untethered Soul by Michael Singer 2. The Art of Living by Thich Nhat Hanh For more information about Rev. - Seek NOT Outside Yourself for HappinessFor most of my life I was looking to the outside for happiness. I needed and wanted my family, my job, my friends, money, clothes... you name it to make me happy and feel content. Isn't that the promise in the movies and on TV advertisement? What I ended up feeling was let down and frustrated, so I tried to do my best to change those things around me thinking that maybe that would make me happy. Again, I was let down and frustrated. When I finally surrendered control and began my Soul Recovery journey and began the deep dive into spiritual teachings I found the answer to my healing- to turn within. During my spiritual studies, I recently read a chapter entitled 'Seek not outside yourself ' and smiled knowing and feeling the wisdom that offered and how this is a cornerstone to Soul Recovery. It is a simple, yet not easy concept... I am still working on it. For more information about Rev. - Exploring Childhood Trauma and Recognizing and Releasing the Patterns they CreatedThere is more and more evidence in psychology shining a light on our childhood trauma and the long-term effects it has on our lives as adults. Being human comes with difficulty and we all learn how to deal with our emotions in different ways, and some of those patterns can block us from having fulfilling relationships and living a full and healthy life. Soul Recovery is about turning within and finding compassion and understanding for ourselves and being willing to explore our childhood trauma and recognizing and then releasing the unhealthy patterns that are holding us back. In this episode I am reflecting on a recent healing I experienced by being able to touch on and heal a core memory that helped to set up one of my foundational beliefs that had kept me from being my fullest Self. - Al-Anon 3 C's- Didn't Cause It, Can't Control It, Can't Cure ItSupport the Recover Your Soul Podcast and community with a monthly donation ranging from $3 to $10 each month. Thank you for your support!!!!!!!!!!!!! We can make ourselves sick emotionally and even physically when we try to 'fix' or 'heal' the people in our lives. This can be if they have an addiction such as alcoholism, or any other behavior that is harming them. When we surrender to the truth that we don't cause, can't control and can't cure others unhealthy behaviors, we can finally work on what we do have control of...ourselves. - Soul Recovery Healing and Improving Family Dynamics - Welcome to Season 4Welcome to 2023 and season 4 of the Recover Your Soul podcast! In this episode I am reflecting on having my Son's visit from California for Christmas and how much healing has happened for our family. Soul Recovery is allowing me to relax and be okay with what is and allow my family to be just who they are. I had based my happiness on how everyone else was feeling and felt responsible for keeping everyone happy for so many years. As I do my spiritual work and find more peace in my heart and mind, my relationships are improving with my family and our dynamics have completely changed for the better. - Bonus Episode!! The Wolf You Feed- The Choice between Love and FearI wanted to share one last episode from the Friday Bonus collection from 2022 to give you some spiritual food as we ring in the new year. There is an old Cherokee story about how we all have 2 wolves inside of us- one of love, and the other of fear. We choose which one we feed. - Recover Your Soul: A Spiritual Path to a Happy and Healthy Life Dec 26 · 19m Are you Giving Requested Advice or Inserting your Opinion? It took me a while to realize that there is a difference between giving someone my opinion and when they ask for advice. Learning when to share either of them has been a spiritual journey all it's own. My desire it always to help people in some way, however, I did not realize that by always inserting my opinion was sometimes causing people harm and not being helpful at all. Even in my new role as giving requested advice, I must be mindful of what I offer and let go of any desire to control the outcome. When we learn to actively listen and share both advice and opinions in healthy ways- everyone can be heard and connections can be made. For more information about Rev. - Krystal Jakosky - Leaving Family Faith for Spirituality: Discovering inner strength, self-worth and choosing her own way to happinessWhen I first met Krystal earlier this year I knew I had found a Spiritual Sister. She was open, honest and had a grounded nature that made me feel immediately comfortable to be myself. She is also a Spiritual Coach, Teacher and Podcaster sharing her inspiring and incredible experience of finding her way to herself and a spiritual life. Krystal was raised an 8th generation Mormon and followed all the rules and expectations as a young woman getting married, having children and being of service. However, she could feel that this life was not hers, and she began to question the life she had been given. She found strength and support from the voice of a spirit guide who offered her guidance and love. Knowing that she needed to follow her own path and find her own connection to Higher Power she left the family faith and discovered inner strength, self-worth and her own way to happiness of a spiritual life of her own making. - Should I Stay in my Relationship?Being in a romantic relationship is not straight forward or easy even in the best of situations. Most relationships will have moments when you ask "Should I stay in my relationship?" Not a simple answer for most of us, even when the relationship looks easy to leave by others in our lives. This episode is about deeper questions that are around this decision from a spiritual and emotional perspective. The only person who knows what is best for you is you and your Higher Power, however you may need to do some inner work so you can hear your guidance and truth clearly. No matter where you go...there you are- so it is always best to dig into your Soul Recovery journey so you can find an inner happiness no matter where you are. This conversation is based on my own life journey and perspective of my marriage where my safety was never in question. If you and/or your children are unsafe there are resources and there is a way out. Call 800.799.SAFE (7233) for the Domestic Violence Hotline if you are needing help. For more information about Rev. - Release Me of the Bondage of SelfAs we come to the end of season three, I wanted to share some of the popular episodes from this year that aired for the Apple Podcast subscribers and Patreon Members. This episode is from a line in the 3rd step prayer of AA and Al-Anon "Release me of the bondage of self." This has been a powerful part of my Soul Recovery journey as I learn that I have a choice in how I see the world around me, what I think about myself, and letting go of what others think about me. So much of my pain was due to my perception and projection as I interacted with people or situations in my life. With the deeper connection to my Higher Power I have found an emotional freedom that has changed my life forever. God, I offer myself to Thee To build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self , that I may better do Thy will. Take away my difficulties, That victory over them may bear witness To those I would help of Thy Power, Thy love and Thy way of life, May I do Thy will always! For more information about Rev. - How to Process Your Feelings in a Healthy Way in Soul RecoveryYou often hear me say that Soul Recovery is about turning the attention to ourselves. It's that inner part of ourselves that is changing - taking control of the only thing that we have control of which is our thoughts, our emotions, our reactions. This is an episode about the inner process, about how we can take the deep dive into our own spiritual practice and our own internal healing. Who do we talk to? Who do we share it with? How do we express what's going on with us? When do we share it with the people in our lives? It's complicated. It has balance. It's not one way for everyone. This is my discussion of how I'm using Soul Recovery to heal and process my emotions and perceptions in healthy ways and be a peace. For more information about Rev. - Recover Your Soul: A Spiritual Path to a Happy and Healthy Life Nov 21 · 50m Working Through Hard Times and Addiction in Marriage- A Conversation with Rachel and her Husband RichIn the last episode "I am Married to an Alcoholic" I shared that I had thought my husband was with me on the journey of living an alcohol free life and dedicated to recovery. He had recently come clean to tell me that he had been continuing to experiment with drinking for the last few years. What do we do when we are in relationship with an addict? The answers are not easy and are unique for each relationship. In this episode I sit down with my husband and we talk about this recent situation and what this experiment was for him on his Soul Recovery path- and then how as a couple we are going to move forward as he recommits to recovery and sobriety. My top priority continues to be my personal journey of healing and Soul Recovery and the spiritual foundation that I have under me helped to keep me grounded as we worked through this latest hard moment in our marriage. My choices are not a directive for what other's choices should be- we are each on our own paths and through spiritual strength I can make clear decisions that are best for me at the moment. I encourage each of you to find the support you need and make the choices that are right for you in your life. We can learn from each other and support each other- but only you know what is right for you that will not betray who you are or keep you from living your best life. The episode ends with a song that I wrote about Rich after our year of reconnection during the pandemic and tells a bit about our journey together. This and my other original music can be found on the website. For more information about Rev. - I am Married to an Alcoholic"We don't drink." I told a friend as we planning to meet up with them in Mexico for vacation. In the first few days my husband shared that for the last few years he has been 'dabbling' with drinking and intended to drink on this vacation. I had thought that we were both sober. I was so grateful for my own sobriety and my Soul Recovery so that I could process this information clearly and remember that I can not control anyone or any circumstance outside of myself. Being an addict is not easy, loving an addict is not easy, however, there is hope in Soul Recovery when we turn the attention to ourselves and follow a spiritual path. Rich and I sit down in the next episode to process this slip in his recovery and talk through how it has effected our marriage and Soul Recovery journey for each of us. - Learning to Not be a People PleaserPrior to Soul Recovery I used to say "If you are okay, then I can be okay." This is a foundational belief of being a People Pleaser where you put others needs and preferences over your own. Many of us may not even realize we are doing this, or how it is causing us internal anxiety and pain. I have been working on this on my Soul Recovery journey and was taken by surprise on my trip to Mexico with my Mom and Husband at how easily I fell back into old patters of feeling I was responsible for their comfort and happiness. I was so grateful for the chance to see it clearly, to take a deep look at the roots of where this came from in my life and turn the attention to myself by digging even deeper into my Soul Recovery journey of healing. - Expectations, Disappointment and Acceptance in Soul RecoveryMy 'working' vacation in Mexico in October turned out to be a great opportunity for reflection and to practice my Soul Recovery spiritual tools. I was immediately caught off guard by my unrealistic expectations of what I had envisioned when planning and thinking about the vacation. I felt irritated and disappointed in the first days and had an opportunity to dig in and do some Soul Recovery- make a pivot into acceptance and surrender which allowed me to not only accept but enjoy it as it was. - Soul Recovery Tips to Stay Clam During a ChallengeI had asked the Patreon Members for what they wanted to hear more about- Kellye and Stacey had similar questions about how to stay calm and centered when faced with challenges."I would love to hear more about staying calm and turning within, when faced with a challenge. I sometimes get out of control quickly and start to spiral into panic mode, completely forgetting that I have Higher Power right here to guide me. It's like I need something to smack me and say 'snap out of it!'
