- #36You Meddling Kids! | CoS 18, Dobby’s RewardPotter Revisited Episode #36 You Meddling Kids! AKA Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Chapter 18 "Dobby's Reward" Harry, Ron, Ginny and Lockhart turn up to McGonagall's office in a state but Dumbledore is merely beaming while everyone else is losing it - especially McGonagall Harry cleverly avoids mentioning they brewed Polyjuice Potion to interrogate Malfoy in his recap to the professors Ginny has been through a harrowing ordeal... but Dumbledore merely tells her to lie down and drink some hot chocolate? Shouldn't there me more concern of the lasting effects of being possessed the the fact she almost died? Was this Dumbledore's first clue that Harry might be a Horcrux? Did Dumbledore know Lockhart was a fraud the whole time? Lucius is losing it big time Lucius choosing Ginny to give the diary to in order to progress his political power shows the Malfoys never do anything unless it also benefits them in some way Dobby is the true MVP giving Harry hints about Lucius right in front of him Tori and Shay wonder how much Harry's sock would need to stretch to fit the diary inside of it Dobby being accidentally freed by Lucius is the best justice - especially when Dobby is able to use his magic against him Harry asks Dobby to promise not the save him anymore, which is how Dobby unfortunately meets his end Why is Hermione upset exams have been canceled? She is in no way prepared for them Everyone including the teachers are happy Lockhart isn't returning as DADA prof - showing how much his popularity has fallen from the beginning on the book Percy's secret is revealed: He has a girlfriend! How did Percy keep his relationship a secret at school? We discuss our overall thoughts on Chamber of Secrets and our favourites Power & OWL Character rankings Snape Suck Total: 4 - Overall Series Total: 8 Email any thoughts, questions or feedback to potterrevisitedpodcast@gmail.com Fill our our Listener Survey here: https://forms.gle/QFEJNAEtQdzXLSBC7 Music: Shelter Song by Alexander Nakarada (www.serpentsoundstudios.com) Licensed under Creative Commons BY Attribution 4.0 License https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Follow Us: Facebook https://www.facebook.com/potterrevisited Twitter https://twitter.com/potterevisited Instagram https://www.instagram.com/potterrevisited_/ Youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4v2Xt0OIQ8_LCVYhKf2S5A TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@potterrevisited0 comments0
- #35 How Come You’ve Got A Sword? | CoS 17, The Heir of SlytherinPotter Revisited Episode #34 How Come You've Got A Sword? AKA Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Chapter 17 "The Heir of Slytherin" We need a property survey and updated map of Hogwarts that includes all the secret chambers and how far underneath the castle they are The way the chamber is described in the book makes it seem a lot bigger than the film shows - even the statue of Salazar is bigger Harry does not seem very shocked or concerned that Tom Riddle is there Tom picks up Harry's wand - which is the brother to his wand. What would of happened if he attempted to use it? "We're in the Chamber of Secrets, we can talk later!" Interesting to think that Hagrid is only a few years younger than Voldemort and they were peers at school Tom Riddle is Voldemort and Voldemort is him - and is very dramatic How does Tom Riddle know so much about Harry when it is after his time? Did Ginny tell him, or is it due to him being a Horcrux and connection to the other bit of soul left in Voldemort? Shay find it hilarious how Tom had to bond with an 11 year old girl, and wonders what they would have talked about Tom Riddle seems a bit more human than Voldemort when discussing his parentage - claiming is changed his name not because he hated Muggles but because his father abandoned him We reflect on Harry seeing the teenage version of the person who later on grew up to murder his parents Harry is Dumbledore's Man through and through already What kind of magic tethers Fawkes to Dumbledore - how is Fawkes able to know to come to Harry? Voldy is UGLY The description of Fawkes puncturing the Basilisk's eyes is a bit too much for us reading even as adults Dumbledore is very lucky the Sword coming through the sorting hat didn't knock Harry out. Shay loves the silliness of it Interesting to think that Basilisk venom is one of the only ways to destroy and Horcrux, and it ends up piercing Harry We discuss the compulsion Harry had to stab the diary with the fang - was it the Horcrux in him acting to protect itself? We discuss the trauma Ginny has faced this year and how it will impact her going forward Did Ginny think that Percy would turn her in? Ron's first reaction after seeing that Harry and Ginny are alright is the fact Harry has a sword. Very 12 year old reaction. Lockhart gets his karma at last Shay discusses what items like the Sword of Gryffindor the other houses could have Email any thoughts, questions or feedback to potterrevisitedpodcast@gmail.com Fill our our Listener Survey here: https://forms.gle/QFEJNAEtQdzXLSBC7 Music: Shelter Song by Alexander Nakarada (www.serpentsoundstudios.com) Licensed under Creative Commons BY Attribution 4.0 License https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Follow Us: Facebook https://www.facebook.com/potterrevisited Twitter https://twitter.com/potterevisited Instagram https://www.instagram.com/potterrevisited_/ Youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4v2Xt0OIQ8_LCVYhKf2S5A TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@potterrevisited0 comments0
- #34 Lockhart Only Sees What’s In The Mirror | CoS 16, The Chamber of SecretsPotter Revisited Episode #34 Lockhart Only Sees What's in The Mirror AKA Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Chapter 16 "The Chamber of Secrets" It's a book title chapter and a lot happens! How many times is the book title a chapter title in the series? The Profs expect students to revise and write exams at this point and we agree with the students outrage What about those students that were petrified for most of the year like Colin? Would they be exempt? Ron is very luck to not have to do his practical exams with his wand McGonagall has an announcement and very on brand - Wood thinks "Quidditch!" Shay talks about Quidditch likely being Oliver's coping mechanism Ginny is very anxious and wants to tell Harry and Ron something - Shay wonders if her inability to get the words out is the Horcrux prohibiting her Just as Ginny is about to say something, Percy comes to ruin everything Was Percy naive in believing Ginny wasn't going to tell Harry and Ron anything important The way Percy describes what Ginny walked in on makes it sound less innocent that what it is revealed to be later Harry comes up with a cover story and moves McGonagall to tears How did no one else notice the paper in Hermione's hand? Was it out of character for Hermione to rip a page out of a Library book? The way Harry and Ron use this information to connect everything is very impressive The first time Harry and Ron decide to go to a teacher first before acting - and it backfires Why didn't they just stay out in the staff room and give their information then - it was very important! The Profs ganging up on Lockhart is what we have been waiting for Ron, The Twins and Harry are all sitting together after the news of Ginny while Percy locks himself in his room after informing his parents. Is this showing the divide between Percy and his family already? Interesting that it is Ron's idea to go to Lockhart. Why didn't they try and find a competent teacher like McGonagall instead? Harry and Ron discover Lockhart's a fraud and he attempts to erase their memories - isn't that a HUGE crime? We discuss memory charms and if they should be ranked up with the unforgivable curses Ron is the one who tells Harry to speak Parseltongue to open the chamber - which comes back full circle in DH where he mimics Harry speaking it to go down with Hermione Shay wonders why Ron and Harry didn't include Fred and George on their adventure Lockhart causes a cave in and Harry and Ron are seperated - a very touching moment where they don't quite say anything but we get how important they are to each other Email any thoughts, questions or feedback to potterrevisitedpodcast@gmail.com Music: Shelter Song by Alexander Nakarada (www.serpentsoundstudios.com) Licensed under Creative Commons BY Attribution 4.0 License https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Follow Us: Facebook https://www.facebook.com/potterrevisited Twitter https://twitter.com/potterevisited Instagram https://www.instagram.com/potterrevisited_/ Youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4v2Xt0OIQ8_LCVYhKf2S5A TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@potterrevisited0 comments0
- #33 Arachnophobia | CoS 15, AragogPotter Revisited Episode #33 Arachnophobia AKA Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Chapter 15 "Aragog" We agree with Ron - we are not about the spiders in this chapter Madame Pomfrey barres students out of the hospital wing as soon as Dumbledore is gone - she doesn't trust anyone Malfoy is being the biggest shit in this chapter according to Tori Does Snape actually enjoy his job? He's a teacher as a cover to spy for Dumbledore and becomes a headmaster to spy for Voldemort but really for Dumbledore Malfoy keeps wondering what one of his peers will die - kind of a red flag Ron leaps to Hermione's defence - wish we could have gotten more of Book!Ron in the films Hermione's absence is very clear but Ron seems to be feeling it more than Harry in this chapter - he faces his biggest fear for her! Ernie owns up to being wrong and apologizes - but Ron is still holding a grudge on Harry's behalf Ernie admits Harry never would have done anything to Hermione - then why did he suspect him before? Lockhart is happy that Hagrid has been arrested - but Dean jumps to his defence. Are the other Gryffindors also close with Hagrid? We wouldn't blame Harry for throwing a book at Lockhart Shay finds it interesting that Lockhart can't see through Fudge only arresting Hagrid for good press, when he himself is almost a politician in the way he presents himself Were Harry and Ron not checking in or feeding Fang? Poor dog! They find the car - which has gone "wild" living in the forest - how did that happen? Giant spiders kidnap Harry, Ron and Fang - the worst kind of immersion therapy for Ron Tori fast-forwarded through this scene on VHS back in the day Shay in intrigued by Aragog saying Hagrid found him a "wife" - not a mate. Why was this done? Hagrid was around 13 when he was giving the egg that was Aragog - was he out in Hogsmede at the pubs drinking with strangers back then? Aragog has some kind of attachment for Hagrid if not love - he is very offended of Hagrid being accused of opening the chamber of secrets Harry stands up when Aragog declares them a meal - because he didn't want to die a coward. A true Gryffindor and a theme for Harry throughout the series The car finds and saves them - how does it know? It would have been a different series if they left Fang to the spiders... Ron is definitely having a panic attack and we don't blame him Harry pieces together the new information they gathered and comes to the conclusion that Moaning Myrtle is the girl who died 50 years ago - pretty amazing! - #32 An Introduction to Introductory Courses | CoS 14, Cornelius FudgePotter Revisited Episode #32 An Introduction to Introductory Courses AKA Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Chapter 14 "Cornelius Fudge" The Trios belief in Hagrid is admirable Tori is shocked about how much school Colin and Justin have missed being petrified - are their parents aware? Harry and friends are choosing their new courses for the next year - which is very important as we compare picking electives in High School Shay thinks it's smart the kids can't drop subjects at this point Were they given any information about the new courses? Or just going off family and friends advice? Hermione chooses all the subject which makes sense at this point - she has an interest in all of them but it is so irresponsible that she was allowed to take them all by messing with time - more on that next book! We discuss the subjects we would like to take Harry's part of the dorm in ransacked and the diary is missing - Is Harry more alarmed its missing because it could potentially affect Hagrid or is it the affects of the Diary being taken away from him? Hermione suddenly comes to a realization about everything... and doesn't tell Harry or Ron anything "When in doubt, go to the Library" Why does Hermione go off on her own without confiding with Harry and Ron? Tori explains her theory Quidditch is canceled and Hermione has been Petrified - the danger is really hitting close to home now Hermione being taken out of action really shows how much Harry and Ron rely on her and what her friendship means to them - very different from the last book Percy's girlfriend is also petrified and he isn't able to confide in anyone We both have some sympathy for Percy - the real black sheep of the Weasley family. Harry and Ron go to see Hagrid, and he opens the door... armed Shay thinks Hagrid needs to remain silent and hire a good lawyer We are first introduced to Cornelius Fudge and the comparison between him and Dumbledore is stark. Fudge seems more concerned about optics than if Hagrid is actually guilty or not Dumbledore goes off about loyalty - does he know Harry and Ron are there? Shay wonders if Dumbledore was able to read Harry's mind We discuss what we know about the Wizard justice system and if it actually works Shay finds that Azkaban is more like torture than a prison - would those who commit low level crimes go there? What about Hagrid- he isn't being officially charged and sentenced We see some characters go to prison without trial (Sirius) and the Wizengamot is what we see voting on sentencing - not an impartial jury How do being able to view memories and veritaserum play a part in providing evidence? Can both be tampered with? We cut a segment about the Trio + Ginny's careers after Hogwarts/The war and how it doesn't really stand up to how we view the characters. - #31 Smarmiest Git | CoS 13, The Very Secret DiaryPotter Revisited Episode #31 Smarmiest Git AKA Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Chapter 13 "The Very Secret Diary" Hermione spend a lot of time in the Hospital Wing in this book Shay roasts Lockhart's get well card to Hermione Ron seems to be very upset about Hermione's crush on Gilderoy Lockhart - we discuss the stages the trio are at Is Harry naive of not thinking a book could be dangerous? We discuss Harry's attachment to the diary - could it be because they are both Horcruxes? We both hate Valentines' Day and Lockhart's event sounds awful How to Dwarves fit into the Wizarding World? Should Love Potions be illegal? Ginny's valentine to Harry is so embarrassing but so funny - unless you are Shay who can't do embarrassment What does Draco think Harry would write in a diary? Shouldn't Harry have been aware the diary seeming to write back as a Red Flag? Our first instance of going into people's memories - which plays a big part later in the series We find out why Hagrid was expelled We talk about the diaries we kept as kids, and what memories of ours we would like to revisit Email any thoughts, questions or feedback to potterrevisitedpodcast@gmail.com Music: Shelter Song by Alexander Nakarada (www.serpentsoundstudios.com) Licensed under Creative Commons BY Attribution 4.0 License https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Follow Us: Facebook https://www.facebook.com/potterrevisited Twitter https://twitter.com/potterevisited Instagram https://www.instagram.com/potterrevisited_/ Youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4v2Xt0OIQ8_LCVYhKf2S5A TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@potterrevisited0 comments0
- #30 Slytherin’s Eat Feet | Cos 12, The Polyjuice PotionPotter Revisited Episode #30 Slytherin's Eat Feet AKA Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Chapter 12 "The Polyjuice Potion" Robbie Coltrane has passed away - we remember how kind and thoughtful he was with the kids in the cast and how no one else could of played Hagrid the way he did Dumbledore's office seems like one of the more interesting locations in Hogwarts Shay explains why Harry would have done well in Slytherin Fawkes dying just as Harry was thinking what else could go wrong is great Dumbledore telling Harry all about Phoenixes sees like a very big hint of what is to come Why didn't Harry tell Dumbledore what was going on? Interesting that Hagrid - who respects Dumbledore a lot - burst in on him when he finds out why Harry is in trouble We discuss why the Weasley's have decided to go to Egypt for Christmas when they end up going there in the next book Tori discusses her theory of why Mr and Mrs Weasley decide to see Bill and leave the kids behind We discuss Crabbe and Goyle's relationship with Malfoy and why they seem to blindly follow him in everything Their plan seems very flawed - if one thing had gone wrong, everything would have Polyjuice potion sounds disgusting and the effects Harry describe are disturbing Shay ponders what her Polyjuice Potion would look and taste like - apparently dipping sauce Why didn't they figure out where the Slytherin common room was before taking the potion? They run into Ravenclaw Prefect Penelope Clearwater and moments later Percy - were they having a romantic meetup? We compare the Slytherin Common room to the Gryffindor Common room It shows the relationship Malfoy has with Crabbe and Goyle that he isn't suspicious of Harry and Ron impersonating them - they are a sounding board for him and he doesn't pay close attention Shay ponders who sets the password for the common-rooms and how Slytherin house was able to have Pureblood be one - discussing the lack of guidance the house gets Tori talks about the sinister moment where Malfoy hopes Hermione dies Hermione has turned into a cat - and Shay thinks Madame Pomfrey is the MVP of Hogwarts Shay discusses Phoenixes, what the represent in the series related to Harry Could Harry have become an Animagi? Tori discusses old theories from the past Email any thoughts, questions or feedback to potterrevisitedpodcast@gmail.com Music: Shelter Song by Alexander Nakarada (www.serpentsoundstudios.com) Licensed under Creative Commons BY Attribution 4.0 License https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Follow Us: Facebook https://www.facebook.com/potterrevisited Twitter https://twitter.com/potterevisited Instagram https://www.instagram.com/potterrevisited_/ Youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4v2Xt0OIQ8_LCVYhKf2S5A TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@potterrevisited0 comments0
- #29 Talk Snakey To Me | CoS 11, The Duelling ClubPotter Revisited Episode #29 Talk Snakey To Me AKA Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Chapter 11 "The Duelling Club" Ron's dark humour about Dobby is on point Why wasn't Colin sent to St Mungo's? Are Colin's parents aware of what has happened to him? The Twins way of cheering Ginny up is very them, yet probably not the best method Neville refers to himself as "Almost a Squib" which is probably all his Gran's fault Shay wishes we could have seen the Swelling Solution chaos in the film Harry is very lucky that Goyle's potion actually did what it was supposed to What profs would have been a better choice to run the duelling club? Did Dumbledore actually ask Lockhart to set up the Duelling Club or is that what Lockhart wants everyone to think? Snape is the one who taught Harry is signature spell Having a bunch of inexperienced kids just duel each other with little instruction and guidance seems like such a bad idea +1 Snape Suck count for Snape outing Neville as being incompetent in front of the whole school Did Snape have any intentions having Draco use the snake spell on Harry? We discuss how Parseltongue is more than just being able to speak and understand snakes Overhearing people talk about you - especially when it's wrong is the worst! Why didn't Harry tell the Hufflepuff's he is friends with Hermione? Does Hagrid have to get permission from Dumbledore everytime he uses magic? The way Nick is described when petrified is very eerie Harry is always in the wrong place at the wrong time We discuss how snakes are portrayed in literature and how it is used in the series Should Parseltongue be more common? We discuss what we know about it and how the stigma likely formed Are their similar gifts like parseltongue for other animals? - #28 Fragile Ego and Deep Delusions | CoS 10, The Rogue BludgerPotter Revisited Episode #28 Fragile Ego and Deep Delusions AKA Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Chapter 10 "The Rogue Bludger" It is a good thing exams were canceled this year - everyone is learning nothing in Lockhart's class Why does Lockhart single Harry out? Is it because he sees them as both being "celebrities" or that he wants to humiliate him? Hermione's crush and belief in Lockhart has her jumping through many hurdles - we discuss how it is in her character at this point We discuss Lockhart's ego and deluded fantasy he lives in, where he constantly makes himself look bad but doesn't or isn't able to comprehend it Shay has issues with how the trio are just given a dangerous and likely valuable book and able to take it from the safety of the library Dark!Hermione comes out when she convinces/manipulates Harry and Ron to continue with the plan The Slytherin VS Gryffindor Quidditch game is approaching and Oliver is going a bit over the top with the "win or die" pep talk Fred and George are very good team members, and have very good people skills Why did no one besides the Twins notice the Bludger focusing on Harry? Why didn't they tell Madame Hooch about the fixed Bludger? Would it really count as a forfeit? The Team, especially Fred & George ganging up on Oliver is so great Draco isn't really playing the game - it seems like he just joined the team to one up Harry and for attention Shay is very concerned about the medical negligence Lockhart commits "fixing" Harry's arm without his consent It is a big red flag that Lockhart is still employed after causing a medical injury to a student Madam Pomfrey is so over Dumbledore and his choices Malfoy gets his karma by being told off by Flint Dobby is exposed Dobby has the best intentions with the worst results Hearing about Dobby's punishments is very jarring as a adult than reading it as a child How does Dobby not touch clothes in his day to day job? Is Harry bringing up Hermione being Muggleborn foreshadowing Hermione being attacked later on? Colin is found Petrified by either McGonagall or Dumbledore - it is contradicted in the same page Is Dumbledore revealing this information knowing that Harry is listening? Wouldn't it be more likely for there to be more true heir of Slytherin's? Seems unlikely that their is only one (Tom Riddle) On off topic news, US Quidditch and Major League Quidditch changed their sport name to QuadBall and we discuss the implications and future of it Email any thoughts, questions or feedback to potterrevisitedpodcast@gmail.com Music: Shelter Song by Alexander Nakarada (www.serpentsoundstudios.com) Licensed under Creative Commons BY Attribution 4.0 License https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Links: Muggle Quidditch Name Change https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2022/jul/20/quidditch-changes-name-to-quadball-after-jk-rowlings-trans-statements Follow Us: Facebook https://www.facebook.com/potterrevisited Twitter https://twitter.com/potterevisited Instagram https://www.instagram.com/potterrevisited_/ Youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4v2Xt0OIQ8_LCVYhKf2S5A TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@potterrevisited0 comments0
- #27 Whodunnit? | CoS 9, The Writing On The WallPotter Revisited Episode #27 Whodunnit? AKA Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Chapter 9 "The Writing On The Wall" Tori adopted a little black cat Nimbus - see our instagram for pictures! Shay also has a dog named Nimbus Both Tori and Shay understand Filch's grief and anger over something terrible happening to his pet Did Filch really think Harry could have done this to Mrs Norris? How many times can we butcher saying "Mrs Norris" this episode? Shay finds it interesting that McGonagall and Snape go with Dumbledore while Flitwick and Sprout stay behind Was McGonagall friends with Mrs Norris in her cat form? Why does Snape have a smile when seeing Mrs Norris? Shay lists some potential reasons +1 Snape Sucks count for Snape trying to get Harry in trouble despite their being no way Harry could have petrified Mrs Norris Why didn't Harry tell the truth about hearing something? Was it really that big of a deal? We get the Founders backstory and discuss it's lore and how Slytherin's fears could have been dealt with The Trio is the Scooby Gang - immediately looking for clues once alone at the scene of the crime Ron's spider phobia is very relatable and it is such a testament to his character on how much he faces it throughout this novel **SH Trigger** Myrtle references going to the washroom to kill herself, and it is kind of played for laughs both in the book and in the movie - it feels like a pretty big red flag Is Ginny aware of what is happening to her yet, and if it is the diary? Was Madam Pince asked to remove copies of Hogwarts a History off the shelves to prevent students reading up on it? We discuss the Ghost Teacher, Professor Binns - is he actually a good teacher? Is Hermione wanting to break the rules for the plan because it involves people like her? Why is the school so quick to jump to Harry being the culprit? - #26 How To Become A Ghost | CoS 8, The Deathday PartyPotter Revisited Episode #26 How To Be A Ghost AKA Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Chapter 8 "The Deathday Party" We enter into Fall in CoS and it's Shay's favourite time of year We discuss the Pepperup potion and if we would take it We love the idea of Fred & George spying on Slytherin Shay wonders why no rich Gryffindors bought their team new brooms Oliver's training its getting progressively more intense We discuss Nick and the Headless Hunt Filch and Mrs Norris have a very strong connection - could it be magical? Filch is working while having the flu - does Dumbledore not give him sick days? Why did Dumbledore hire Filch? He always has some motive for his hires Tori wonders how Squibs work - do they have no magic, or some magic? Kwikspell sounds like a huge scam Interesting foreshadowing when Peeves knocks over the vanishing cabinet - which comes back to play in OOTP and HBP Nick basically manipulates Harry into agreeing to attend his Deathday Party Shay agrees the Deathday party is interesting but she would make sure to eat dinner before Interesting that Nick knows inviting Harry means also inviting Hermione and Ron We love this random passage of Fred and George feeding a firework to a Salamander We discuss the Deathday party - and Shay isn't a fan of the music choice We discuss Ghosts and the rules surrounding them and how they are governed We meet Moaning Myrtle and why no one seems to have done anything to help her Harry hears the voice after leaving the Deathday party - interesting that he is both scared but excited It really shows the faith and friendship Ron and Hermione have in Harry as they follow him despite not being able to hear the voice The trio stumble upton petrified Mrs Norris and the writing on the wall Shay discusses how scary this could be for children reading We begin a deep discussion on Ghosts in the Wizarding World and how they work How does one become a Ghost? Nick says it's a choice - is it forever? What about children that die? Shay wonders why Fred and others from the Battle of Hogwarts Why would once choice to become a ghost? - #25 Slytherins In Lamborghinis | CoS 7, Mudbloods and MurmursPotter Revisited Episode #25 Slytherins In Lamborghinis AKA Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Chapter 7 "Mudbloods and Murmurs" Harry spends his time avoiding Lockhart and Colin, which we get Ron's wand injuries Professor Flitwick but yet, the school does nothing depite it being dangerous It's a miracle Ron didn't have to do exams with his broken wand Oliver was organized enough to book the Quidditch pitch for practice, but didn't tell the team beforehand? How did he get the girls up for practice? Colin has some crazy Harry Senses Colin shows Harry the photo of him and Lockhart, and Harry is trying to escape from view - very similar to how Harry was feeling when the photo was taken How exactly do photos and portraits work in the Wizarding World? How can portraits move between frames - even ones that aren't their own? Should the school do more to teach Muggleborns about Quidditch? Wood had them practice without eating breakfast - not very smart, Oliver! Interesting the Slytherin Team is all boys, when Muggle Quidditch has a Co-Ed rule for Gender Equality Shay discusses the Gryffindor and Slytherin play styles and how they choose their team members to fit their needs +1 Snape Sucks point for overruling Oliver's booked pitch despite him going through the proper channels Malfoy is on the Quidditch team and Lucius bought the whole team state of the art brooms - how is this allowed? Malfoy is known to be a very good flier - so why did he resort to buying his way onto the team? The Gryffindor team has no idea what to say to Malfoy - but Hermione comes right in for his insecurities like a badass Ron's first instinct is to curse Malfoy on Hermione's behalf - what a stand up guy Fred and George almost seem to get violent with Malfoy while Ron resorts to magic confrontation - is Quidditch the Twins way of releasing anger? Why can't Colin read the room and see that Ron is ill? Shay feels like Colin has Only Child Syndrome - we wonder if Dennis was a last minute addition to the series Hermione is affronted that Hagrid talks down about Lockhart, which is interesting for Hagrid since he always respects the Hogwarts Profs This book really shows the importance Hermione has to the trio + Hagrid. Hagrid refers to her as "Our Hermione" and Ron sticks up for her compared to the last novel Is Hagrid right that no one else applied for DADA or is that just what Dumbledore wants everyone to think? We love Ron being the one to give the Wizarding Society context rather than Hermione in the movies. It makes so much more sense! Hagrid is growing suspiciously big pumpkins and Harry thinks his old wand is hidden in his umbrella. If so - did Dumbledore help Hagrid with this? We get some foreshadowing to Hagrid being expelled Shay wonders if Hermione fears expulsion because she sees what Hagrid's life is like Shay discusses what she think Hermione would do if she was expelled Hermione obviously disapproves of Hagrid using magic on the pumpkins but is also impressed - we see this a lot with Hermione and the Twins later on in the series Harry and Ron receive their detentions - who approved Harry's detention? We finally hear "the voice" and Ron is Harry's go to person on weird magical things - as it should be! Interesting foreshadowing with Ron throwing up slugs on Tom Riddle's Services to the School award Email any thoughts, questions or feedback to potterrevisitedpodcast@gmail.com Music: Shelter Song by Alexander Nakarada (www.serpentsoundstudios.com) Licensed under Creative Commons BY Attribution 4.0 License https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Follow Us: Facebook https://www.facebook.com/potterrevisited Twitter https://twitter.com/potterevisited Instagram https://www.instagram.com/potterrevisited_/ Youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4v2Xt0OIQ8_LCVYhKf2S5A TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@potterrevisited0 comments0
- #24 Influencer Culture | CoS 6, Gilderoy LockhartPotter Revisited Episode #24 | Influencer Culture Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Chapter 6 "Gilderoy Lockhart" As adults, we love Harry and Ron receiving consequences for their actions The sky in the Great Hall matches Harry's mood Shay finds out what kippers are and she is not a fan Tori wonders if Howlers should be a more frequent occurrence at Hogwarts Neville has received a Howler - when last year do we think his gran sent him one? We discuss what our moms would send us Howlers for As kids we felt bad for Ron during the Howler situation, but as adults, we want them to be punished Knowing that Mr Weasley is facing an inquiry at work due to Harry and Ron taking the car hits a lot different than it did as a kid as well Interesting looking how Hermione acts with Harry and Ron before and after she thinks they have received proper punishment for her actions We get one of our first looks at Herbology, and Shay is here for it Gilderoy is basically mansplaining Prof Sprout's job to her - why do her and the other teachers not tell him off? We are introduced to Justin Finch-Fletchley - who we understand now comes from a connected and wealthy Muggle family as he says he was supposed to be attending Eton Ron's wand is obviously broken beyond repair and is dangerous - why didn't any of the profs do anything about it? How many books are these kids carrying around? We discuss Gilderoy Lockhart and how he is likely is a narcissist The conversation Gilderoy has with Harry outside Herbology is CRINGE How much of Gilderoy is just stuck in his own delusional world where he is the best, and how much is intentional on his part? Shay lists her celeb crushes she think have the best smile We discuss Hermione's crush on Gilderoy and how she overlooks how bad he is due to it We meet Colin Creevey and he's a lot Colin's interactions with Harry remind us of early Youtube culture where the line between "fan" and "celebrity" are very blurred Colin touched a nerve when he told Malfoy he was jealous. We know what you told your dad all summer, Draco! Gilderoy giving harry PR tips reads so much like our Influencer / MLM Culture today Enjoy our totally real ad for Lockhart's Locks to Hart Haircare, definitly not a scam In what world is unleashing creatures into an unprepared class a good idea - what was Lockhart thinking What was Dumbledore thinking hiring Gilderoy? He must know he is a fraud. Shay wonders if hiring Lockhart was intentional on Dumbledore's part, as we know he will always risk student's education for his plans for Harry We get some interesting foreshadowing from Ron that Lockhart isn't what he says he is Neville is really put through it the first few books, he always has to suffer for what Dumbledore is doing for Harry This is the one time Draco should have told his father Conspiracy Theory: Is Draco Dumbledore? - #23 Reading The Tree | CoS 5, The Whomping WillowPotter Revisited Episode #23 | Reading The Tree Aka Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Chapter 5 "The Whomping Willow" We get so many locations in this chapter - this book really focuses on expanding the Wizarding World Harry is loving his time at a Burrow and is jealous of Ron Mrs Weasley likely intentionally made the last meal before the return to school all of Harry's favourites We can both relate to the First Day of School mad rush Tori's mom could of used an enlarged car like Mr Weasley uses to transport the kids Ginny almost forgets the Diary - can't forget the plot point! Why didn't Mr or Mrs Weasley wait for Harry and Ron to go through the barrier? Wouldn't it be likely for a least one student to miss the train? Shouldn't there be something in place in case that happens? Unlike Harry and Ron, we both would have freaked out more if we missed the train to school Hedwig is having a rough summer, and Harry is not helping Both of us can't even drive, and here Ron is committing all kids of crimes while driving "Two Slytherin's that Can't Drive" new podcast name? Harry and Ron are both such Gryffindor's and 12 year olds that they don't think this through Shay reflects that each student should have a buddy from another house to better ground them Harry and Ron crash into the Whomping Willow, and Tori reflects on one of her favourite scenes from the movie adaptation Why did Ron take his wand out? They barely know any magic, so what was he going to do? Why is the car sentient-like? The perfect karma when Harry and Ron are dissing Snape, and he appears We start to get hints that Snape can read minds, which comes in play later in the series Harry and Ron face consequences for their actions Snape is loving the superiority he has over Harry and Ron in this moment, where McGonagall and Dumbledore are disappointed, but hear them out Do Harry and Ron think McGonagall is going to curse them with her wand? "I didn't think-" "That is obvious." Minnie G is the G Harry would rather be abused by the tree than have Dumbledore disappointed in him - really shows the hold Dumbledore already has on Harry so early on in the series +1 Snape Sucks for terrorizing Harry and Ron over expulsion even though he doesn't even have the power to do so The punishment for Harry and Ron seems to affect Ron more since The Dursley's won't care about what Harry has done How did the rumors of Harry and Ron's entrance get spread? Fred and George wish Harry and Ron had brought them along. We think it would have gone much smoother with the Twins despite their chaotic nature This is one of the first times Ron gets to share the glory with Harry Ron avoids Percy, but is obviously pleased with the praise he receives from Fred & George We discuss the Twins and their relationship with Hermione Remember to drive a car with a license, and not when you are 12 Email any thoughts, questions or feedback to potterrevisitedpodcast@gmail.com Music: Shelter Song by Alexander Nakarada (www.serpentsoundstudios.com) Licensed under Creative Commons BY Attribution 4.0 License https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Follow Us: Facebook https://www.facebook.com/potterrevisited Twitter https://twitter.com/potterevisited Instagram https://www.instagram.com/potterrevisited_/ Youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4v2Xt0OIQ8_LCVYhKf2S5A TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@potterrevisited0 comments0
- #22 The Less Sexy Red Herring | CoS 4, At Flourish and BlottsPotter Revisited Episode #22 | The Less Sexy Red Herring Aka Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Chapter 4 "At Flourish and Blotts" We are back from our short break with a long episode - so get a cup of tea and a snack! We love how at ease Harry is at The Burrow Explosions from the Twins' room are seen as "normal" - were they already starting Weasley's Wizards Wheezes? We finally meet Ginny - we discuss Ginny's early crush on Harry and how timid her character seems compared to later in the series Gilderoy assigning his own books as textbook seems like a scam. Shay compares it to her Queens University days Percy wearing a "knitted tank top" - is it fashion? Hermione says she is busy with schoolwork - again we question what kind of work they can be doing outside of school if they can't do magic The Twins' note that Percy is acting strange. Shay declares Percy the new Red Herring of this book - but not as "Sexy as Snape" in her view Why did they think Harry taking Floo powder by himself on his very first time would be a good idea? Are they not able to send two smaller people together? Harry of course almost runs into the Malfoys when lost in Knockturn Alley - we both feel for him and remember what it was like running into peers you would rather not see on Summer holidays Apparently Draco has spent the whole summer complaining about Harry, and even Lucius is sick of it We meet Lucius Malfoy for the first time, we discuss how he comes across and how it shows how Draco is the way he is We see a lot of objects in Borgin and Burkes that play big parts later, particularly in HBP: The Vanishing Cabinet, The Cursed Necklace and The Hand of Glory Malfoy is selling dark objects to avoid scandal from Ministry raids - which includes a lot of poisons. What are the Malfoy's doing? Harry is rescued by Hagrid, but why was he in Knockturn Alley? Shay remembers why she loves Fred so much Hermione's parents are introduced, but they do not speak, or do much of anything. Should they have had more of a role in this chapter? Would you eat Strawberry and Peanut Butter flavour ice cream? We are not fans Ron mentions Percy wants to be Minster of Magic one day - we discuss Percy's ambition and whether it comes down to who he is fundamentally or if it began more out of necessity as he doesn't want to be in the same financial state as his parents We agree Lockhart is the OG Influencer Ginny speaks up for Harry despite her crush on him usually debilitating her - showing us the beginning of her strength Was Lucius slipping Ginny the Diary politically motivated? He is firmly against Arthur's Muggle Protection Act and figured if Ginny got caught it would look bad on him, like Dumbledore reflects at the end of the book We wish we could have seem Jason Isaacs and Mark Williams duke it out on screen like Mr Malfoy and Mr Weasley did in the book What would Hermione's parents be thinking after all of these? They are described as shaking Lucius didn't know the Diary was a Horcurx, but probably knew it would open the Chamber of Secrets - was it supposed to be given to someone who didn't know what it was, or would it have worked out better if someone had it who wanted the Chamber open and knew what it was? We know from Dobby that Lucius had been planning the Chamber opening - was he planning Ginny the whole time, or was it a moment of opportunity? - #21 Weasley Grand Theft Auto | CoS 3, The BurrowPotter Revisited Episode #21 | Weasley Grand Theft Auto Aka Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Chapter 3 "The Burrow" Tori reminisces about her house being "The Hub" like the Weasley's when growing up Did Fred and George come because they were concerned about Harry like Ron, or because they wanted to have an adventure? Fred and George are about 14 at the moment - we wonder what the UK driving age is - and how they would even know how to drive a car being Wizards How did no Muggles notice a flying car? Does no one get up for water at 2AM? Fred and George can pick locks - is this in the realm for the Twins' or too convenient? We discuss how the Twins both have creative brains with how they think, especially for Wizards - which definitly helps them with their future endeavors Shay brings up how disturbing it feels having the Twins discuss Dobby by who "Owns him" and how it highlights how House Elves are treated in Wizarding society as we view the Weasleys' as "Good" moral characters What kind of Magic do House Elves have? Is it similar to Goblins? Can we all agree Wizard Society is messed up? The Twins and Harry accurately guess Dobby belongs to The Malfoys - is that too convient of a leap? Why do Mr Weasley's kids not care about his job? It seems very important. Tori compares it to her Dad working as an accountant For someone who writes laws and works for the Government, Mr Weasley takes a lot of risks breaking the laws he writes We discuss our first thoughts about The Burrow! Shay loves the cozy vibes it gives, and Tori loves the description of a farm house with wacky extensions added on top Tori questions if all Magical residents have names, like The Burrow, and Shay explains it is likely an English tradition Does Mrs Weasley constantly comparing the Twins to Percy strain their relationship with him? We discuss Fred and George's dynamic within the Weasley Family, and the greater Weasley Family dynamic with each other We get our first glimpse of Ginny! We are both looking forward to see her development that was missed in the films We also appreciate how different Ginny is compared to Hermione Tori's image of The Burrow has changed slightly after learning "Garden" usually means "Backyard" in the UK We get our first Mundungus Fletcher name drop from Mr Weasley - doing crime as usual Tori compares Ron's love of The Chudley Cannons to Toronto Maple Leaf fans - right comparison or way off? Shay relates to Ron's blind faith in a sport team, speaking from experience as a Montreal Canadiens fan How did the Weasley's get a Ghoul in the attic? Also good to note Ron claims the Ghoul is useless but it does come in handy during DH Ron seems so worried about Harry's opinion of his house since Ron tends to view not being financially well off as a flaw One of Shay's favourite part of The Burrow is the family clock. How did the Weasley's get it? Tori theorizes it was made during wartime so Mrs Weasley was able to keep an eye on her loved ones when times were uncertain Did Fred's hand fall off the clock when he died? Both Tori and Shay are still traumatized by Fred's death. Let us know if you are too! - #20 Dobby Will Eat Your Skin Off | CoS 2, Dobby’s WarningPotter Revisited Episode #20 | Dobby Will Eat Your Skin Off Aka Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Chapter 2 "Dobby's Warning" We are finally introduced to House Elves in this chapter - which play a big role in the series, from Dobby, Winky and Kreacher, to Hermione's character development Shay finds Dobby's entrance stressful as this is the worst time for Harry to have his magical world invade his life with The Dursley's Why does Harry have such good manners? Dobby tells Harry that Voldemort has powers that no decent Wizard would have - Shay wonders if Dobby is aware of the Horcurxes or at least the diary being a Horcrux Harry is the worst at taking compliments What was Dobby's logic in stopping Harry's letters from being received? Why was no adult concerned about Harry not responding? #WhyDumbledore Shay mentions it is a federal crime to tamper with someone's mail - would Dobby be sent to Azkaban, or is that a Wizard-Only prison? Why doesn't Harry just lie to Dobby and say he won't go back to school? We learn Pudding in the UK = Dessert Harry receives a letter by owl from the Ministry to tell him off for using Magic in front of Muggles - yet this letter comes by magic, in front of said Muggles?? Is the Ministry not able to detect Magic done by a Wizard vs Magical Creature? How did Vernon get someone to put bars on Harry's window? Wouldn't it be a fire safety issue? Wouldn't the neighbors talk? Harry is literally being starved and imprisoned but won't use Magic to save his life because he is too scared to be kicked out of school. All the adults failed him When all the adults fail him, Ron to the rescue Shay says she hates Dobby at the beginning of the book, he causes just too much anxiety Why did Dobby come to warn Harry? Dobby is one of the most self-aware House Elves we meet in the series How do House Elves get tied to a family? We touch a little on the slavery comparison of House Elves, and how the series shows us an outside perspective (Hermione) on how wrong it is, and the perspective of those who are just use to it being that way (Ron, ect) Right off the bat, Harry asks Dobby how he can free him - does he relate to Dobby having to be in a likely abusive household like himself? How does Dobby know about how great Harry and Dumbledore are? The Malfoy's aren't their biggest fans after all... Could Dobby have given Harry a bigger hint that this was a Voldemort plot? Shay doesn't find Dobby very empathetic to Harry's situation Tori shares the context behind the episode title - involving Potter Puppet Pals We are looking forward to jumping back into the Magical World next chapter and exploring The Burrow! - #19 Harry’s Birthday Blues | CoS 1, The Worst BirthdayPotter Revisited Episode #19 | Harry's Birthday Blues Aka Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Chapter 1 "The Worst Birthday" We are on the next book of our reread journey, Chamber of Secrets This book was first published in 1999! Tori discusses how she originally skipped this book at first, but it was the first HP movie she saw in theatres Both of us are excited for the mystery aspect of this novel, and learning more about the outside Wizarding World and Hogwarts backstory Harry is having the worst time with the Dursley's - no surprise there. But poor Hedwig is locked in her cage - Tori worries about her wellbeing Tori questions the fatphobia - specifically around the Dursley's - in the books which seems more jarring reading it now as an adult in 2022 than as a child in the early 2000's Shay finds it amusing that the Dursley's are so afraid of Harry, yet he has barely done any spells by this point We both talk about the previous book recaps we get, especially in the earlier books and if it is necessary Shay wonders if it is a product of the times and discusses her own reading journey This turns into a discussion on how reading was taught to us at school Why does Hogwarts assign Summer Homework? What does that entail, and is it graded? Wouldn't it be unfair for students with Muggle families? Why did they keep Harry in his room when the Mason's were coming over? Why didn't they send him to Ms. Figg's or the park - somewhere away from the house? Why is Harry so quick to believe that Ron and Hermione don't care about him or forgot about him? Sassy Harry is back with "Well done! You've finally learned the day's of the week!" Petunia punishes Harry by making him clean the entire house - Tori wonders if the Dursley's are so focused on appearing upper class if they would have a housekeeper Shay believes Petunia needs to have control over her environment so a housekeeper would never work for her The neglect Harry is facing from all the Adults in his life is concerning Penunia tries to hit him with a frying pan No one has heard from Harry all summer but the only ones who seem concerned are Ron and Hermione - who are children Once again- WHY DUMBLEDORE??? - #17 Literary Whiplash | PS 17, The Man With Two FacesPotter Revisited Episode #17 | Literary Whiplash Aka Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Chapter 17 "The Man With Two Faces" we LOVE the opening line to this chapter! Tori feels bad for Hagrid - despite the times we challenge him on not be responsible, his heart is usually in the right place Quirrell seems to do wandless magic - is this an oversight? Quirrell reveals that Snape and James Potter hated each other at school, which is why Snape hates Harry, which seems to be an unintentional secret as so many know about it We discuss what little we know about James Potter as a character and where the truth about him is Snape's memories show the worst of James, where Sirius and Remus usually gloss over the bad parts and focus on the good Tori loves the marauder's fandom and the ability it gives to create your own version of James Potter "There is no 'good' and 'evil', only power and those too weak to seek it." Really shows how Voldemort sees the world Harry faces Voldemort for the first time and sees right through him - Dumbledore's man already At what point in the novel did Voldemort attach to the back of Quirrell's head? The way Voldemort is described is very creepy Could Harry being a Horcrux explain how Harry hurt Quirrell, rather the "love" as Dumbledore tells him? Tori discusses her theory Dumbledore tells Harry he was doing very well on his own - yet he was in a coma for 3 days? #WhyDumbledore Is Dumbledore trying to downplay dying for the Cause since he knows it is likely Harry may have to die? Shay wonders how everyone found out what happened between Harry and Quirrell? Did Dumbledore spread it around? Shay ponders why Dumbledore tells Harry to say "Voldemort" when his real name is Tom Riddle How does Lily's Sacrifice work? Would Voldemort have actually spared Lily? Could Dumbledore have given Harry an age appropriate answer to why Voldemort tried to kill him? He keeps him in the dark for so long Why does Dumbledore gloss over James and Snape's rivrary? Ron wonders if Dumbledore meant for Harry to save the stone - and Harry likes the idea. Is this showing Dumbledore manipulating him already? Tori loves the photo album Hagrid made for Harry Could Harry have contacted all the old school friend Hagrid contacted for the Photos? Shay thinks Dumbledore wouldn't have allowed it due to it interfering with his relationship with Harry and not wanting him to get information outside of him We love the final feast, but feel slightly bad that Slytherin lost the house cup because Dumbledore changed the rules at the last minute. This is their Villain Origin Story We discuss our overall opinions and thoughts on the first Harry Potter Book! - #16 Tickle The Squid | PS 16, Through The TrapdoorPotter Revisited Episode #16 | Tickle The Squid Aka Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Chapter 16 "Through The Trapdoor" Harry, Ron and Hermione sit their exams, including making a pineapple tapdance (Charms), turn a mouse into a snuffbox (Transfiguration) and brew a forgetfulness potion (Potions) Shay loves the idea of Fred and George tickling the Giant Squid. Tori compares the Squid to Therapy Dogs Interesting comparison to Harry writing his History of Magic exam expecting Voldemort to burst in, and writing his History of Magic OWL in book 5, where he has a vision about Voldemort and Sirius Hermione studied the 1637 Werewolf Code of Conduct - could this be a hint to her being the first to discover Prof Lupin out in POA? We discover Shay is like Hermione - wants to do a post-op on an exam, where Tori is like Ron and just wants to forget about it Harry is able to clue things together very quickly despite having the wrong person Our first mention of The Hogs Head Shay worries about Hargid's drinking - and brings up the serious discussion on Giant anatomy and if Hagrid's liver is ok "...Up to something..." Shay reads this in Alan Rickman's voice- don't we all? Harry's scar has been hurting more frequently since the Forest - he is able to pick up very quickly that it means something Dumbledore leaving for the Ministry seems too convenient - couldn't he see through it? Or did he leave intentionally? Harry quickly goes from caring a lot about House Points and how his peers view him, to not caring at all and putting the state of the world on his shoulders - he is 11! Ron stating that him AND Hermione will join him comes back around in the later books. This small moment seals all their fates together. What lead Neville towards standing up to Harry, Ron and Hermione? If they had the time to explain what they were up to, would Neville join them? Hermione fully binds Neville - seems a bit extreme "There's no wood!" Hermione is not good under pressure How would they have dealt with the Troll if Quirrell didn't leave it unconcious? Snape picks a logic-based task instead of a magical one - what does that say about his character? We love how this chapter leads off and opens in the next! Theory: Dumbledore wanted Harry and co to save the stone. Shay discusses a fan theory from Super Carlin Brothers where Dumbledore intends for Harry and friends to rescue the stone, and the events in the book that were him manipulating or setting Harry up for this Did Dumbledore instruct each professor to make their obstacle a certain way, keeping Harry in mind? Was Hagrid revealing how to tame Fluffy a part of Dumbledore's plan? Did Dumbledore want Harry to rescue the stone and face Voldemort as a test? - #15 The Future Looks Bleak, Harry | PS, Chapter 15 ”The Forbidden Forest”Potter Revisited Episode #15 | The Future Looks Bleak, Harry Aka Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Chapter 15 "The Forbidden Forest" We come up with some excuses Harry and Hermione could have gave for being out at night Is this really the most disappointed McGonagall has ever been or is she trying to "scare them straight" Harry feels awful for losing Gryffindor so much house points - but he slowly gets used to it as the series goes on This is the first time Harry feels isolated in the Wizarding World, but at least he has Ron. Really shows how much Harry values Ron's friendship Have the Weasley Twins not lost 150 points or are they good at not getting caught? Why is their punishment for breaking the rules/being out of bounds being sent to an out of bounds area? #WhyDumbledore Where students punished with corporal punishment during Dumbledore's time as Headmaster? Why were Neville and Draco, then Draco and Harry sent off alone in the Forbidden Forest - when they are looking for an unknown and potentially dangerous teacher? We meet the Centaurs and get a lot of foreshadowing for the next few chapters and potentially for the rest of the series Harry swears to stop "poking around" in this book - which happens a few times throughout the series Is Hagrid lax with safety in the forest due to his thoughts on magical creatures, and how he sees dangerous creatures as "misunderstood" and needing a second chance? Did Dumbledore want Harry to be caught to send him into the forest, so he would meet Voldemort? Does Bane and Ronan's argument with Firenze foreshadowing his exile in OOTP? What does it mean to have a "cursed life"? Interesting full circle moment that Harry is in the forest in the beginning of the series, and returns at the end to die. We discuss the centar's "Mars is bright tonight" observation and how it foreshadows the rest of the series What did Firenze see in the stars about Harry? What is the lifespan of a centar? We do a mini deep dive on Divination in the series Are we made to be biased against Divination/Fortune-Telling as Hagrid, Hermione and McGonagall are shown to be skeptical Shay loves Divination, specifically dream analysis. According to her if you want to lucid dream, eat a pickle, chocolate icing and cheese before bed. - #14 How To Smuggle Your Dragon | PS 14, Norbert the Norwegian RidgebackPotter Revisited Episode #14 | How To Smuggle Your Dragon Aka Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Chapter 14 "Norbert The Norwegian Ridgeback" Harry and Co have interesting interactions with Quirrell when they are trying to support him Is Quirrell just stressed, or is sharing his body taking its toll on him? Shay ponders what life on the back of Quirrell's head is like - make's Tori think of AVPM Ron remembers the exact year Dragon breeding was banned but struggles with History of Magic? Shay wonders why Hagrid gives a Dragon brandy? A drunk dragon seems like a bad idea Hagrid lets Harry and Co commit serious crimes for him - despite the fact that he is an adult his relationship with the three of them is odd Why does Hagrid seem to have such an obsession with dangerous creatures? Was Hagrid's development as a child affected from being expelled and ostracized at a young age? Hagrid seems to take on maternal roles in the series - is that due to his issues involving his mother? Tori wonders why Charlie didn't question Ron asking him to help smuggle a Dragon out of the Castle Shay relays her experience with an older brother and the sibling bonds Ron ends up in the hospital wing with a nasty bite from Norbert - Tori wonders how injuries are dealt with at Hogwarts Does Madame Pomfrey let students get away with some questionable injuries?
