Bryan Rust - May 18th, 2021 Post Game
Pittsburgh Penguins Interviews
Rusty on your own opening goal there. What's the mindset? You just thinking. I don't know if you're certain to score there or just get rid of it and I honestly couldn't tell if it hit off a stick. Yes, I wish it was for 6.
Yanking your ski.
Hi, Brian. Given the past your, the history of the 2019, playoff series against the Islanders, is there an added component, an added layer to this Victory to kind of race, you know, or prove that you could beat this team.
I think we're just going to focus on this year. This is a different group from things as a group. We learned at the lessons. We've built a good team game over a year, I think for us to be able to get this game too.
I get to season 1 one. Now, before heading there, I think of you
Brian, what happened on the play, where you threw the puck, over the glass, what were you thinking there? And then take me to your emotions in that final? 88 seconds there. If you want those guys, if you're the one for me, I was just so worried about you.
Getting the puck over the blue line, getting out of the zone. That
Make out of a mental are. There goes my hand on the pump for too long and I threw it out of his own it's a timely, but our guys did an unbelievable job if her grades are working hard and you saw how how much the car got into it? I think our guys just got out that emotion and they did an unbelievable job. And I think I think those
A bright. How cute was it to get the first lead against this opponent? Specifically, obviously, getting the first
A good in any way, shape, or form against any opponent. But just given how they played defense, and how they try to plan things down, usually just how vital it is. That first lead, I think for us, we're just trying to get out there and get to our game as fast as you can. Get out there have a good start at the momentum and obviously, he scored the first goal. There's no better way of doing that. So I think it's obviously big, but I want to just keep going to have to start.
Brian, I know it's been a mantra of Mike's since he got here about just play.
How much of a challenge is it to do it in the Heat of the Moment? When it's it's there so much physicality, you guys are taking so much punishment. So, early in this series,
I'm in crossword.
Can I buy a pushing through it and resilience? And I think that shows its base in many forms and I think and I think our guys really do really good job with him playing hockey playing hockey and stronger than right there.
If I have to weigh the game one on folded, what gave you confidence? At Tristan's. I was going to bounce back in the way you did tonight.
Stars of the gamer comes the rank works hard to learn from the past 9 has an unbelievable goalie. He showed it time and time again over the course of this year last year and he was obviously great tonight too.
Tamara Taylor House.
Brian mentioned, a credit being there. But the me this is the first game at the arena with 50% capacity for the Sanchez. What kind of energy energy they bring all night? What kind of impact about having the game they were getting loud? I think they give our team a lot of Life, lot of energy, and just to keep pushing keep fighting, and it was all kind of culminated in that public health and ask questions in Bend
Brian, can you please speak to the importance of that? Second goal from Carter to give you guys a two-goal. Lead heading into the first permission there. How big was it for the team? And how big was it for Tristan to know that he had at least no one gold cushion? I think for us, anytime we do for the first goal, we just try and keep the pressure on and keep playing our toes and I think that's what we did. And that second goal was a result. I think that's just what we've been trying to do all years. When we do have things going. Well, we just got to keep pushing and I can't find it. It doesn't matter what the score is or or what not, there's nothing I see if that second one to

The part where he mentions that he wants to be adopted by a more functional family even at 45 yrs really hits home. Really delineates how no matter how old and independent you are, you still need love and support.
