In this episode I speak with Dr Zykia Larue, a physical therapist and board certified geriatric specialist. In this interview I discuss with Dr Larue her love for, and joy in helping elderly people. How working with elderly patients is different from other patients. We also discuss the physical therapist profession, and how working with the elderly helps them to be more mobile and independent, so they can lead more fulfilling lives.

Old Age Defiant is an attitude about aging. It's a positive perception of aging. A study from Yale University shows how positive perception of aging can add 7 years to life compared to a negative perception of aging. Older people are still capable of improving strength, flexibility and have a fulfilled life. They can continue to improve. Age shouldn't be a reason to stop growing.

The part where he mentions that he wants to be adopted by a more functional family even at 45 yrs really hits home. Really delineates how no matter how old and independent you are, you still need love and support.
