I’m more interesting now
As someone who asks “why?” to the point where it’s annoying, this show selfishly fulfills my curiosities. One other fantastic side effect is that it makes me a more interesting human to talk to. I find myself citing this show so often, “Oh, I recently heard on a podcast that fatality messages on the road actually increased traffic accidents.” I’m so appreciative of this pod. The fact check is pretty funny too!

This might be the podcast drop i most look forward to. This show is fun, unpretentious, thorough, and totally lights my brain up. I recommend it a LOT, and the people often circle back and thank me - which doesn’t usually happen with recommendations. Love t!

Excellent podcast!
Everything about this podcast is excellent. My favorite part is the fact-check. It is such a relief to know that if some information is wrong it will be corrected. It allows me to relax my “is this true?” mind because I know that I have this safety net at the end of the show.

Dubner and Duckworth are compelling and entertaining as individual personalities, together they’re like the Lucy and Desi of brainy podcasting. I almost always learn something, and super appreciate how the hosts enrich each episode with interesting research, data and anecdotes from their individual realms.

Poorly Prepared Hosts Ruin a Potential Favorite Podcast
I was excited to discover this podcast and made it through the first episode I found interesting. The question was interesting to me, the hosts played well off of each other, but at the end of the episode I listened to 5 minutes of fact-checking from the producer. Seriously? If you’re going to bother answering the questions… get it right! Won’t be returning, and I’m disappointed about it.

Not stupid question after all 🤔
I am not listening to this new podcast………! Yet ! And I chose to ask my question as it will not be stupid : what happened to “search “ bottom? I love Freakconomics podcast..! Yet I couldn’t find a way to search for a specific episode on their platform…! It’s over 600+ episodes and I just don’t have the luxury of time nor patience to go over all of it to find one ☝️ specific episode I am interested to listen 🎧 to…! Trust me , I got out of the highway and parked to try to find that episode and 50 minutes later…! No result yet…! Now I will be home around midnight…! Thanks freaks …!

Excellent work on the swearing episode!!
We should all be swearing more since those words mean absolutely nothing and were totally made up. Someone decided a particular sound is offensive and it became a swearword, ridiculous.

If Peer-Reviewed Journals Were Fun...
...this pod would be it! The good: All facts, all the time Great topics The bad: Needs to be longer! Needs to be more frequent! The thing that makes me want to walk away and never look back: I listen with earpods. Having to hear Angela gulping air every single episode goes straight into my brain and is so unnerving, unsettling, and sets my nerves right on edge. It's like teeth scraping a fork. Aside from that, I love it. /:

I’d love the show, except…
Angela keeps trashing public education. It’s interesting that someone who’s so smart is also so out of touch with reality. Someone who doesn’t know that a reindeer is a real animal, or thinks that Scandinavia is a country, and yet feels entitled to make blanket statements about all public schools. Funding for schools in America is incredibly inequitable, with students who need the most support often attending schools with the least funding. Teachers in under-funded schools buy books and supplies for their classrooms out of their own salaries. Please address these kinds of social inequities instead of belittling the teachers. Please don’t laugh about students in inner city schools who don’t have a safe place to run outside. In places where teaching is a highly-regarded and well-paid profession, education is consistently better. So please stop insulting teachers and schools!

Insightful Conversation Combining Culture, Economics, and Psychology
Part of the Freakonomics network. Listen in to fascinating conversations between author, Stephen Dubner (Freakonomics), and research psychologist, Angela Duckworth (best known for her talks on grit). Each episode centers around a listener question relating to the intersection of culture, economics, and human psychology. The resulting conversations are filled with interesting ideas and insightful commentary shedding light on why people think and act the way they do. A specific innovation of this show (and should be more widely adopted) is the fact check at the end. The producer lists out every fact that the hosts got wrong during the conversation, and provides the correct fact. This allows Angela and Stephen to continue the conversation without constantly stopping to look up their own facts. This show always gets bumped to the top of my playlist as soon as it comes out.

Love most things from the freakonomics network, but not this
Angela is kind of an insufferable know it all (as frequently exposed for boldly claiming things that she’s wrong about, per the corrections segment at the end of each episode), which is a shame because Dubner and the topics here are generally interesting

Witty Banter and Profound Dialogue
I love listening to Stephen and Angela converse. I’m particular about the podcasts I listen to when it comes to the speakers’ voices and articulation. They speak so eloquently and are a pleasure to listen to. Even if the topic isn’t of interest to me, I still enjoy listening. Their conversation feels natural and their content is informative. I also genuinely appreciate the fact checking at the end to clarify or correct the references made.

Laughing while learning
The podcast I listen to every week: I wish I had stumbled on it after 300 episodes had been produced because it’s the kind of thing I would binge-consume, but no, I’m left waiting for each weekly episode like a 1980’s sitcom! This is my absolute favorite podcast. I laugh out loud while learning about people, society, and myself. On road trips my family knows I’m going to make them listen to an episode (none of them are podcast fans, but they’re always drawn in by NSQ). Thanks Angela, Stephen, Rebecca, and the whole crew.

Entertaining but could dig deeper
Positive note: I love listening to this podcast! It’s entertaining and I like the pace conversation is at. They cover such a wide range of topics and I also like that they share speaking time pretty equally which is not always the case with co-hosted pods. Critical note: They try to leave politics out of their conversations and don’t name larger systemic issues where they should be. I think that really hurts the integrity of some of their statements because it feels like they are dodging a deeper discussion for the sake of the time limit.

Disappointed
Kinda disappointed Angela came out as left of center. Politics didn’t need to be a part of this show, and the very concept of grit seems to be so antithetical to progressive ideals. Also, why did they jump to controversy, social justice, and boycotts in the Chick-fil-A episode? Are people allowed to not frequent a business just because the food is not good, it’s expensive, or it’s overrated? Why do a company owner’s values or morals have to factor in at all? Also get over yourself, listener from Massachusetts who wants to be sure the world knows she doesn’t shop at Hobby Lobby or Chick-fil-A because something something social justice. Nobody cares about your virtue signaling.

Okay concept, bad execution
The concept is okay, but some of the topics they choose need a deeper conversation. Take the Chick-fil-a episode: it seemed more like a marketing gimmick than an in-depth convo about all the bad reasons (on top of the unique ways mentioned) that the company is profitable, such as exploitation of poorer communities and factory farms. Also, it’s really annoying how Dubner has to make a joke every minute. I have been a listener from the beginning, and it’s definitely reducing in quality over time.

Episode #97 Good question, stupid Dubner answer
Are women less happy then men? Yes. Yes they are. Why? Go on you two. You can say it. THE PATRIARCHY. Talk about glossing over the actual issue. And on top of it all, Dubner’s attempt at humor in the closing where he talks over Angela in a ridiculous attempt at tying up the episode with humor is the the EPITOME of the issue. It’s not your voice that needs to be heard saying something truly stupid. It’s hers saying what the data show and being thoughtful about real solutions. I’ve been a loyal freakonomics and NSQ listener for years and was both surprised and then disgusted. Do better Dubner.

Definitely Worth A Listen
There are so many podcasts available to listen to that I don’t listen to anything that isn’t 5 star worthy. NSQ has done a phenomenal job at meeting that standard. I think the key is that the hosts have great chemistry and knowledge bases. They’ve found the sweet spot between researching a topic before they talk about and not listing off facts. All of the conversations have a steady flow with personality to boot. Like this show, there should be many more podcasts that follow the concept of experts in different fields talking about the same idea.

Informative, funny and interesting. Just what podcasts should be
I really admire Angela and steven’s work and books. These podcasts are exactly what I hoped they’d be. Chick-n-Fillet is the best!
Liberal woke boicots doesn’t works. Chick-n-Fillet is good. The episode tried to start a boicot against Chick-n-Fillet because the owners are Christians. This is shameful but it is what the liberals do. People who promote boicots tend to believe they are superior beings that somehow have a higher moral ground. Amazon supports LGBTT rights but, on the other hand, it is well documented that they exploits warehouse workers, are you guys going to promote a boicot to Amazon now? I will boicot this podcast because they promote boicots to try to leave people that don’t think like themselves out of business.

Lost its luster
This show used to be interesting and engaging but, in the last year, has gotten dull and uninformed. I feel as though they used to discuss topics that had weight to them and provided interesting evidence and opinion on multiple sides, more conversational than freakonomics yet still educational. Anymore it just feels like a boring conversation between a couple of gen x/boomers who don’t quite understand how the world works anymore but are trying to seem “with it” without being “woke”. It’s a weird balance that ends up leaving you with a head full of cotton. Angela readily admits that she doesn’t pay attention to current events, yet they discuss them and she gives her opinions and thoughts on them, while Stephen just gets more and more pretentious and out of touch with each passing year. It’s very clear neither of these people have lived in the real world for awhile. I guess anyone can have a podcast these days?

Fun and Thought Provoking
The off-the-cuff conversational approach is a nice counterpoint to the carefully produced Freakonomics Radio. Many conversation based podcasts are little more than opinionated blowhards yammering away, but these are charming exchanges between two highly knowledgeable people sharing genuinely worthwhile thoughts. The inclusion of fact checking at the end adds a nice bit of balance and legitimacy to the conversation. Very worthwhile listening to be had here!

Is your podcast making a positive change in the world?
I am not sure about the world, but it is definitely making a positive change in my attitude and attention to details of my life and interactions with others. I am more thoughtful when discussing tougher issues with family and friends and have noticed that I am able to stimulate and guide harder conversations in a mutually respectful way. I absolutely attribute that ability to listening to your podcast as well as Freakonomics as you frame your conversations in such a respectful and deliberate way that it allows me to model that behavior as well. I prefer the 2 topics per episode
Since they’ve switched to 1 topic per episode, I’ve stopped religiously listening. I used click immediately when I got the upload notification, now I rarely check. I’ve noticed that there’s a lot less playful banter between Angela and Stephen. I miss laughing along to their goofy jokes and feeling like I was hanging out with friends. Yes let’s talk money
In Massachusetts, in 1976, my class in eighth grade was the last class to get a class in banking. We were taught to write checks, how a savings account worked, how a loan worked, how to calculate interest. I think it should have covered in schools but families need to discuss it too. Growing up in my family who were pretty well off. I was told not to discuss money at the table or with strangers. My mother discussed how the stock market worked with her children and the value of the antiques in our house. When I was 20 something I took a class in personal finance, taught by Eric Tyson, who wrote, “Personal Finance for Dummies.” I can’t recommend the book enough. I read many of Peter Lynch’s books. Lastly, how can one be grateful for what they have if they don’t discuss what they do have? Thank you for your great shows! Please keep up the good work! Gratefully Elizabeth

Great show and # of questions feedback
I’ve listened to this podcast since inception and it’s gotten better and better, especially with the genuine respect and banter with the hosts. Some real time feedback for Steven and Angela - one vote for Angela’s suggestion to cut down to 1 question, half an hour is easily digestible and more focused than two questions in 45 minutes. Freakonomics is better for the long form with new and multiple guests every week, where one question is more conversational with this. One of my favorite podcasts keep up the great work!

I love this podcast but am a bit confused to have discovered that Stephen Dubner does look kind of like Fred Armisen…. Just way less like Fred Armisen than his voice had led me to believe. Note: I am not saying that he sounds like Fred Armisen; I’m saying he sounds like he would look like Fred Armisen. Big difference. Other than that the pod is great. Obviously Angela carries the whole thing on her back. She looks nothing like Fred Armisen and this is not necessarily a shock to me.

Good info until the leftist agenda
I found this podcast recently and began to love it… until the repeated hypocrisy on COVID related issues. I enjoyed learning the term “ultracrepidarianism” before realizing I was experiencing it here. The ‘science’ contradicts Angela’s knowledge of mask efficacy and vaccine developmental standards. Her hubris is a turnoff and that’s not ‘reactionary’ – we don’t relinquish our freedoms or bodily sovereignty at the whims of a psychologist promoting debunked treatments and overhyped medical hysteria. I really wanted to get into this podcast – there are so many other topics they seemed to nail – but I can’t trust anyone who would suggest forced vaccinations on our full population to appease her unrealized ignorance of the overwhelming science. Angela swerves far out of her lane and into oncoming traffic – that she and Stephen Dubner don’t realize it speaks volumes and renders all other episodes to be questionable. I’m out.

Love Stephen Dubner and this podcast. I do wish Angela could be less judgmental and wouldn’t assume so much. For example, she was so incredulous that someone would rewind or pause during a podcast. I do that all the time! Why would it be different from a book where you would go back and re-read as Angela mentions? They have good, interesting conversations with each other but I’m usually more in agreement with Stephen and wish Angela could be more open-minded. She seems to think everyone should operate as she does.

For the later half of 8/15/21
Being a kid who grew up on the internet, I had unlimited internet access since I was maybe eight or younger. I have seen every version of YouTube video, every awful video of people getting hit by cars or spending $700 dollars on clothes and showing it off to the camera. And really truly it messes with my head. Watching YouTube for hours truly makes me feel awful. Sometimes it’s just this mental block to feeling equivalent to a pile of laundry and other times it’s physical. I find when I watch YouTube or TikToks for hours I get dizzy standing up too fast or I can’t pay attention to anything or I can’t focus my eyes. That never happens when I read. Often times I enjoy reading more than being on YouTube. I think really truly YouTube hurts me more than it helps me. Both for my self worth and for my health. There really is nothing like reading.

I love this Podcast! I really enjoy the rapport between the two hosts and their unique perspectives colored by their respective fields. Informative yet not too serious or bogged down in detailed facts. Not sure why people find the female host “unlikeable” - I find her brilliant, interesting, and decisive in her opinions.

Awesome podcast (most of the time)
I love the chemistry between these hosts. They’re likable, relatable, and funny. But I was disappointed in the vaccine episode. At one point a question like this was asked: “Why don’t people want to get the vaccine?” And they both missed the boat. Many of us who don’t want it yet are waiting for more research and waiting to see what happens long-term to those who took it first. How is that not reasonable? Some new research has shown that getting the infection and the resulting anti-bodies/killer T-cells can provide longer-lasting immunity than the jab itself… which may actually require booster shots after only six months. So of course bribing, gaslighting, or shaming those who are concerned about the jab only makes us more determined to avoid it. The incentives do the opposite for discerning populations.

Not what I thought - maybe my expectations were incorrect
Wow - I love the Freakonomics podcast. Listened to first episode of this podcast and expected similar great material. However, there was almost no data given and the host was very unlikeable. I got a sense that she is disgusted by other humans. Would look elsewhere for data driven shows, this show would be good for people who like more lighter personal opinions podcasts - maybe like people who like to watch “the view” or something.

Great podcast and I have some sleep advice
I’ve also been a very poor sleep or through the years but I also have a job that requires me to be awake a lot of nights. (obstetrician). I’ve tried almost everything the Angela mentioned but recently I’ve been trying to use breathing as my sleep aid. I’ve also use some over-the-counter sleep aid‘s and they were OK trying to see which ones don’t make you wake up groggy. I will say I think even prescription sleep aids might be of benefit because I think sleep is crucial to good health. I think breathing has helped me as much as any medication. Have heard James Nestor on several podcasts but also read his book "Breath" .There are several tips to help you relax and sleep. Good luck and hopefully he will sleep better soon.

When You’re Born
It seems to me these show hosts do need an education in astrology. In fact it does impact how your life turns out, it also has impact as to your personality as a high and low manifestation, as well as, how you handle emotions, and how the outside world sees you. The fact that they only take into account achínese astrology is biased and not looking at the entire landscape. Study a birth chart and you will learn wonders.

Laid back and insightful
If you like freakonomics you’ll love this show. A laid back format where the two hosts discuss the topic of the day in conversational format. It’s the feeling you get when you have an interesting conversation at a dinner party. I love Rebecca Douglas
This podcast is fantastic, I’ve grown a lot in how I approach questions (and more importantly looking for answers) due to consuming media exactly like/including this podcast. Stephen and Angela are fantastic hosts who do a great job walking through how they approach answering questions often translating vague, difficult questions into measurable terms full of necessary qualifiers, and how research and expertise should inform a worldview. ALSO Rebecca is maybe my favorite part of the podcast and I deeply wish her input followed all of the podcasts I listen to. We need more fact checkers these days, and the voice and humor that’s developed over the episodes is always a highlight. I recommend this podcast to everyone I care about. Interesting topics, thru a pretentious lens
I love the subject matter - but I wish it was explored more objectively. The hosts, one in particular, tend to make it about themselves as individuals. Maybe it’s me
I find myself yelling at this podcast because they seem to miss answer that are kind of obvious. I enjoy Angela Duckworth’s work and I like Freakonomics, but I feel like Angela and Stephen are so privileged and just utterly immersed in academia, rather than the application it just comes off as out of touch. For example, the most recent episode is talking about whether or not therapy is effective, citing a study in rural Kenya where the intervention was therapy, cash, or both. Well if you’re living in poverty, struggling to have your basic needs met, then obviously therapy is not the intervention for that. Therapy cannot fix poverty, but you know what can? Money. Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. You can’t self actualize if you don’t have enough to eat.

Cheaper than therapy
Angela wondered if this podcast helps people in a way that is similar to therapy, and I’d like to speak to that. Learning about the (often different) perspectives that two very smart people have on human nature is not only entertaining but kinda therapeutic in a way. Its helpful hearing about different behavioral studies and theories, learning about the reasons why we couthink and act the ways we often do, and extrapolating a few of them onto my own behavior. Thanks!! (Not a medical or professional opinion)

Consistently excellent. Not mostly, but always great. . .
Angela and Stephen ponder the universe with bend toward brightening humanity and allostatic load. Thank you so much for your insights and wisdom. One nugget I loved was looking to child development experts for parenting advice given they literally see thousands of cases vs your relatives or parents who may have only had 1-3 kids. . .Rebecca Lee Douglas, please stop saying “people you mostly admire” when you do the fact check / show notes. It’s distracting and makes me think: Who are these people she doesn’t admire?and what’s her issue with them? Throwing shade seems irrelevant and somewhat counterproductive to the amazing content you produce. Please keep up the excellent work! Jonathan

Eric Schmidt episode
In considering whether ultra rich people donating and making the decisions about where their donations should go we should remember Andrew Carnegie who is renowned for having help to start a library system that benefits many many people but! He also did not pay his workers a living wage. He thought of them as drunkards and families of those workers lived in deep poverty. Some of our extremely wealthy donors have deep feelings of distain for the public that they are setting up programs to benefit. If someone has made billions of dollars and is willing to give it away the does that mean that they automatically are brilliant about what other people need? Some of those programs are indeed doing great good but the fact that those people were able to amass such wealth means many others’ time and effort is considered far less important. And since the IRS spends a small fraction of its efforts policing the super rich, government programs that might have a huge effect on the public welfare can be starved because of unequal enforcement. Such programs may not replace a search for the few geniuses, but might help thousands or millions more attain a lot more in life.

Listening to the episode about estrangement and find the different perspectives being shared are really interesting (and so different) that I feel like I can learn things from both sides. Like it but shut up about golf!
I really enjoy this podcasts, but it seems that in over half the episodes, Stephen brings up golf. It becomes tedious. Occasionally it is relevant, but often feels he is simply mentioning it so the listener knows he plays. He isn’t a professional and doesn’t have any great insight. Besides, this isn’t a pod about golf. Angela Duckworth is perfect.

In retrospect it was fortunate - in no small do I want to contribute to the egotist delusions no matter how delectable her food may be. Return to standard format. I am sorry to say Angela interviewing is not your forte. Don’t beat up on yourself - it’s not worth it - you have many other fine qualities, not that you need to be told.

Great combo
I love Dubner on Freakonomics and paired with Duckworth is just the best idea. Two highly intelligent, interesting, articulate people talking about topics that are always interesting. I’m not sure if they just inherently interesting topics or these two make them interesting. It’s something I look forward to every week. Could we run these two for Pres/Vice Pres?

Fresh, well-done, informational and enjoyable
This podcast is thought-provoking, engaging and fun. Good mix of information and opinions, good flow and excellent dynamics between the two hosts. They come across as genuine, are excellent at quickly conveying the knowledge/experience/opinions they have on a subject and have a nice sense of humor. They tackle several questions per episode and cover a wide range of topics that include serious as well as light ones. Those listeners who complain about this not being like the Freakonomics podcast should keep in mind that...well....this is a different concept and that’s why this is aseparate podcast. Keep up the awesome work! Love it!

Good premise, not great timing
I’ll keep subscribed to this podcast, but I probably won’t be listening for a while. The question themes are thought provoking, but maybe a bit too existential for the current moment... is it possible to ask somewhat less aggressively introspective “non-stupid” questions? Just a thought

Accessible psych content
I thoroughly enjoy how Angela and Stephen work to make academic research interesting and digestible to a general public audience. They weave in personal narratives that help us understand and wonder at the human condition. They also seem to have a good time doing the podcast - they’re different enough in temperament that the listener gets some texture and contrast with the podcast experience.

Good show
I enjoy this as well as Freakonomics. You really shouldn’t let JiffyLube advertise on here. You can get more reputable advertising. JiffyLube is a criminal enterprise that lures unsuspecting people in with promises of a cheap oil change or repair, then they lie about unnecessary repairs or actually break or tear up parts under your hood. Nothing but felons and high school drop outs working there. Keep up the good work, just wanted to make you aware that JiffyLube is the worst place to get anything worked on for your car.

Not up to the same standard as Freakonomics
This is Dubner and Duckworth airing their dirty laundry. In particular, I’ve not developed any trust of Angela’s opinions yet so when a whole episode is dominated by her own evaluation of herself, it comes across as whiny, narcissistic, and tiring. Her strong resume does not translate into relatable opinions.

Two for One Smart and Funny Deal
Dubner and Duckworth are two people getting invited to my fantasy dinner list. They ask intriguing questions and give you researched answers that make you want to host a party (not right now!!) to drop knowledge bombs on your guests. Make yourself smarter, make yourself laugh. Great for family car rides!

Just a random conversation
This is a nice podcast...but it’s really just a pair of friends talking. There is no thesis or meaningful conclusions...just random thoughts...sure it’s sort of fun but not really valuable. It’s just listening to a pair of highly educated people showing how smart they are and how much reading they have done. I really appreciate the purposeful show...this is just a mishmash of random thoughts...meh. Disappointed that they would diminish this their valuable scientific authority with noise. Nothing but filler😟. Better to spend their time producing valuable content instead of this mush.

Still need to further hone the show
Angela and Stephen are a tremendous, entertaining duo. I’ve listened to Freakonomics for years and thoroughly appreciate Stephen’s approach to salient questions, and I have found Angela’s appearances on Freakonomics to be terrific too. Right now, however, they’re falling a bit short of their potential, but I’m optimistic that they’ll turn it around. The current issue is that too much of the episodes are focused on being cheeky and do not adequately wrestle with the big questions they identify. This can (and should) be remedied with a more structured use of white papers and more frequent dissection of relevant psychological concepts. As a listener, I am looking forward to (1) more research papers, (2) more discussions of papers’ methodologies, (3) more discussion of major concepts, and (4) greater attention to implications of the various concepts.

This podcast is a highlight in my week. The smart, funny, informed, and fun banter is lively and delightful. I love hearing a side of Dubner that he keeps more cloaked in the more journalistic Freakonomics Radio podcast (which is another of my favorites). Duckworth brings a thoughtful and often brilliant psychological element to the conversation that I find fascinating. Keep up the great work, Dub and Duck. P.S. I never write reviews, so I also just wanted to mention here that Dubner is my favorite interviewer I’ve ever heard. His questions are so thoughtful and smart, I find myself in awe of how well equipped he is and how well spoken he is when sparring with some of the most brilliant minds anywhere.

Love it- Keep Fact Checking
I have been enjoying the witty sparring between Stephen and Angela. Recent interview with Luis von Ahn of Duolingo was fascinating. As a lang educator, I was caught by surprise by your statement that L2 skills are among the least valued among employers and would love to hear a fact check on that. In fact, it would be great if you could revisit the value of L2 acquisition among monolingual Americans from the standpoint of equity and race relations in the US in a future episode. I would think that L2 skill-building among English native speakers is becoming more important than ever, especially now that our nation’s clear lack of international communicative competence has been made apparent by political tensions and massive disparities in equity have been exposed by the pandemic.

Not sure what to call this podcast
I’m a fan of Double D (Duckworth and Dubner) however I don’t know what this podcast is trying to be or what it will become. It seems very random to the point of being awkward, even the closing fact check drags on with more random babbling. Is there a point or not? Is it supposed to be informative or instead entertain? Currently, it’s a struggle to do either 😞

No questions are silly. The podcast is.
Being a long time fan of Stephen Dubner’s Freakonomics Radio, I subscribed to his new podcast, much to my disappointment. I listened to half of one episode and jumped to the other one to see if it was any better, but no. I thought it was going to be people asking questions and them answering them intelligently after having done some research. I was wrong. These two pals talking about their own experiences, without the intervention of other voices, without music, is not interesting enough to justify 30 some minutes of someone’s time. And also, when searching for the podcast, I found there are at least 4 more with the same name. My stupid question: where there no other better names that were not already used? My second stupid question: what was the point?

The jury is out
Angela Duckworth may not think so but she’s pretty brave to expose herself like this. She clearly doesn’t care what people think about her - I’ve noticed this in other podcasts - and it’s just fascinating to listen to someone deeply moral but un-self-aware. She can recognize her feelings but sees only through a glass darkly that she exists in a context of other people. I loved Steven’s podcast with James Altschuler that was sort of like this, and I might like this one too. It’s so fascinating to see a rigid person over time - will she evolve or won’t she?

Disappointing
I like both Dubner and Angela Duckworth and was looking forward to this podcast. I hope the podcast gets better because the first episode was painfully bad. It was like listening two friends bantering in a boring way. The subject could have been wrapped up in 5 minutes but they dragged it on and on. There was nothing novel or noteworthy about anything they said. I’ll try to keep an open mind and hope this was just a learning curve.

Very disappointed with the first one
I had a lot of respect for Angela Duckworth but the logic and narrative of the handshake episode just did not resonate with me at all. The alternatives to handshake (post COVID) provided were bizarre and laughable. Yes hand hygiene is a legitimate concern and there are quite a few men (especially) who don’t practice it. That said, if we all became such germophobes, we would not develop the immune coping mechanisms needed to ward off even minor foreign particles that invade our bodies on a daily basis. Ever notice how those that grew up in extremely sanitized environments fall sick easier!! For some who writes about Grit, I found the approach rather soft and un-gritty. - bharat Jalan

The episode on negativity was brilliant except at the very end he says EXACTLY what he’s been telling you not to do.
