Welcome to many beers designs.com, the podcast and now here's Mimi Pearce.
Play friends. Mimi. Mimi Pearce designs l podcast hippie weekend goes a little better than a week when it has been one of those kind of wait. So I'm hoping for a nice relaxing weekend. So, start know, it's a big weekend here qualifying at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway earlier this week. I talked to Scott hoch who at one time was the public address announcer out at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. So he's met folks from all walks of life, race car drivers, just a mini story that he can tell on the great, Tom Carnegie, just it was really fun. We have been friends since college, and we just kind of picked up where we always leave off and we always have a good time talking. So if you didn't get to hear that I'm, you know, any of my podcast, you can go back and listen to them. I've had such great response so I'm glad you're enjoying them. I think.
Enjoy the one with Scott if you have it until your husband's. I think they'll enjoy it too. Just the different aspects that he has in the sporting world and how he's covered it. He talked about Bobby Knight a little bit. So I told your husband. Make sure that they're listening to me, me Pierce designs the podcast, so the week story was good, was Scott. It was so nice, just happy feeling good, talking to him. And then there was a sound of a bird and no, it was not the kind, the gym loves. It was not his little birds out of this feeder. This was a bird sound that was coming from our laundry room and it was obnoxious. So I finally realized that there is a bird stuck in our laundry room. I go in. It's my washing machine
Is making this chirpy bird sounds so loud so loud. I think. Okay, you know, it'll go away. I know it got worse and it got worse. And so finally, it was time to call Tony
Tony from Duncan Appliance at Steve Duncan has been around for years. I'm just trusting so much at our old homes. They fix appliances put a new appliances for us and I don't know if you heard on the radio or not. Jim gives me a little bit and Corbin a hard time about Sony. Ladies, Tony is a really really good looking appliance fixers man, I don't know if I really should call him. That he's not your typical mr. Maytag Man. Okay, so it's nice when Tony comes because he's a very nice man and he knows what he's doing, but Jim and Corbin. I was in talking to him. And so, you know, they were in laughing and everything, because they know that Tony's old good-looking guy, but Tony did not deliver the news that I needed to hear at first, he didn't hear the bird. He said, you know, I think you're going to be able to nurse this so long for a little bit before you need to buy a new one.
Great. Well then he heard the bird and the bird sound got worse. And he said, oh, I may have lied. You're going to need a new washing machine. Have you ever looked at the prices of washing machines, lately? I mean, they practically put the clothes in there for your for you. I mean they do everything. There's like a remote start if I'm out on the road and I guess I left a load of towels and I forgot to start my washer. I can start it. So I will say though because you know, during the pandemic, I know people that needs it appliances. They were hard to guess. So we got appliances very quickly because I think that's happened on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, new washing machine and by golly that just made me smile new washing machine, but let me get to the other part of the week. So, yesterday Jim comes home, and he said, something's wrong, something is wrong.
Jim has a pickup truck, a very new pickup truck. And I said, well, remember, a couple of weeks ago, I kept saying I'm smelling a burning smell burning smell like a rubber burning rubber, and then Corbin mentioned that he came in the garage the other night. He said our garage. It smells like, there's rubber something burning in our garage. Okay, once again. So yesterday he pulls in the driveway and fluid just starts pouring out and I said, this isn't good. So I called a good friend. Chuck, Chuck Jones. He's been in the car business for a really long time. And he said, hey, don't drive this thing. Get it towed. So they came, they towed it and I think it's okay, you know, whatever it is. It's under warranty.
Well, let me tell you, it wasn't under warranty and if you saw this picture, I would love to show it. I'll stop. Maybe try to put it up on Facebook, this picture of this item. Now, I'm no mechanic. I don't know much about cars, but there is a weird picture that they send us the mechanics tennis, and I can't even it looks like shreds octopus. It, it just has all these legs, something sticking out of something. And I'm like, what I said, what is that?
And he said it's $475, that's what it is. It's under warranty because no, not when you run over a Dollar General bag, he said apparently at some point and I think it was on 65. So please don't Litter 65. I think it happened actually a couple weeks ago and this bag got tied and spread it around the differential. I believe that's what it's called. So therefore it was just spinning in their burning burning up the differential and that's a big problem. So they're still probably trying to discover dental and get that bag out of that. Differential. It it just is crazy. I couldn't believe the picture, I sent it to so many people saying
Can you tell me what this is?
So that's been our week. So it's been a little crazy. I've done a quite a bit of running just you know everything that's going on went down decorated my mom's porch. He likes it pretty for this summer so wanted to get that done and your doctor's appointments for Jim's mom, just different things that are going on. So it has been a really crazy week so I'm looking forward to going to be warm here, which is nice. I'm ready. And it looks like my flower box. I've been waiting to post because I wanted to get a little Fuller before I post that flower box on my website. I hope you were able to see from last weekend when I had a little disruption from Cooper, when I was trying to record about my tablescape, my Indy 500 tablescape, that was fun, putting this together, but in the middle of it, Cooper decided to have one of his panic attacks for a little guy, and if you didn't hear it. Just go on my website. Meaning, Pierce designs.
Take a listen. The poor little guy. He has these panic attacks anxiety. We actually have medication for it but it's so sad because it sounds like someone is just beating him. And we don't know when We rescued him. If he had been abused, but just out of nowhere, sometimes he'll go into one of these. Oh, it's just awful. Well, you'll hear it because I was trying to record one of my segments, of course, for my website on the Indy 500 and he went into one of his panic attacks. So, but it was fun. I got it done. And hey, hey! Hey, crumbl, cookies. Have you heard of them? Oh my goodness. I had heard about the people were waiting in line. Like Corbin went by there. The other night to get some and he said, Mom, there were 50 people. So, Saturday morning, I was out. And about I was running errands and I knew that they open about 8 over and Fishers and I decided, okay, well, there are only two people waiting outside, so I decided I was going to go.
They changed their menu weekly. They always have a couple of the same one, but the smell alone. I think I gained 20 pounds just walking into the store. It is phenomenal. I will say that Jim like the Oreo one. I'm just kind of a plain Jane and I like cookies warm and they serve, a chilled sugar cookie. I prefer my cookie a little warm, but they stayed so chewy and gooey, Ooey and gooey, for a couple of days and I ended up freezing sound because we were just making our way through. I'm way too fast. So that was a, that was a highlight of the week that we had some crumbl cookies in the house. And I understand, I think they're opening one over on 86th Street at Keystone. At the Crossing fact, it may have opened this week so keep that in mind. But I wanted to get back. I wanted to kind of question, you know, the washer or the dryer thing will first about, I cannot believe how expensive they are. Oh my God, I just
In our old one was, fairly new came from our other house and it just didn't seem like it, was that pricey. So but this one is a nice one. I've done one cycle through just to test it out and you know she's your really have a great afternoon in your laundry room with your husband and that's the highlight of your week is watching your new washing machine. It's so quiet. I will say we just looked at each other. We had to laugh because it has been not the best but we were standing there. Looking at the new washer this. This was a debate because when Tony was here he said now are you one of those families that has to match the washer or the dryer?
Well, you know me folks. I'm a messy match person. I love things that coordinate, that match putting things together and I looked at him, I said what, and he said, well, I just wanted to know because if you're going to get both of them, I want you to get. I'm leaning towards this praying for you, and this particular washer and dryer and Jim came in again and I was surprised. He's like, why do you think? I, maybe they should match. I said, do you want to spend this much more money? Just so these things can match and I said, remember, I'm a Dollar General girl. Although this week, I've been a little frustrated since it was their bag. That was ripped up into your differential and I said, so think about it.
No. In this case I do not care if my washer and my dryer much. So I have this beautiful new what I would call a Mercedes of a washing machine and then I have my old dryer which works just fine and everyone teases me because I'm one of those first and I do do a lot of laundry still. And so they're my new washer my old dryer and hopefully hopefully I won't have too much laundry to do this weekend after the week. We've had maybe we can just relax a little bit have a glass of wine and just calm down. We are going out with friends for dinner. So I'm really looking forward to that. We're going to celebrate. Jim has a birthday next week, so I didn't do a little celebrating on Saturday night with a nice dinner.
Speaking of nice things. How about myself, the goat milk soap? Such a great response down in Martinsville. Celebrations, buttcheek. Remember they carry my soap lotion. My goat milk soap, lotion, the meanie line, they have, Wonder Hill soap and also they have exclusive tivity at to the me me wonder how bath bombs and them, they make great gifts and boy Mother's Day are they were gangbusters so I stopped in there and seek it and Carla at celebrations Bowtique and Martinsville. And then this week,
We're going to talk Indy 500, some of my memories coming up to a different thing about living in Indianapolis and the Indy 500. So in the meantime qualifications weekend, I'm going to get out. I'm going to enjoy some sunshine.
Sims, try to relax a little bit, and I have the pieces with you.
