Underwood and Flinch and Other Audiobooks by Mike Bennett
Underwood and Flinch is a three-time Parsec award-winning vampire audiobook saga. Here's the blurb:
For hundreds of years, the eldest-born male of each generation of the Flinch family has been servant and guardian to the vampire, Lord Underwood.
While the Flinches have changed through the generations, Underwood has remained eternal. David Flinch had hoped to be spared the horror of serving his family's lord and master, but when he is summoned to the Flinch home in Spain by his dying older brother, he knows his luck has run out.
After fifty years of slumber, Underwood is to be resurrected from the grave in a ritual of human sacrifice, and David, by right of succession, is to be his resurrector. But there is another Flinch, one who craves the role of guardian to the vampire: David’s sister, Lydia. It’s a job she means to have, even if it means making David’s the first blood shed in this new age of Underwood and Flinch.
This feed has all of Mike Bennett’s public podcasts in one place: Three seasons of Underwood and Flinch; the thriller, One Among The Sleepless; his short stories; his readings of classic stories, including 18 from H.P. Lovecraft; and his complete and unabridged reading of Bram Stoker's Dracula.
“Bennett’s ‘Underwood and Flinch’ saga is the best hidden literary gem in existence. Experience the same thrill you have when you find an unsigned underground band that blows your mind.” P.J. Parrish. Editor-in-Chief: Tennessee Valley Business Journal

Well done🙏🏽
I’m listening to the Underwood and flinch story, it’s great so for. I don’t usually enjoy single narrator podcasts (like ever.. at all) but the voice actor is really fantastic. In seamless conversational cadence, and making the additional characters really sound and feel like. other characters. w/o having to attempt at separating personas w mad cringe overacting. I love vampire stuff but more Anne rice/lost boys leaning vs. the twilight romantic glitter kine.

Love vampire
I love the story of the vampire Underwood in Flench. It’s a fantastic storyline. I can’t wait to see what David and Daniel get in to next. I hope there’s more backstory of Daniel if he makes it to America and find sweetheart.
Thanks you have a great imagination

Not your daughters vampire
If you’re tired of the glittering vampires of today’s pop culture, and pine for the suave, sophisticated, members of the night parade; then I highly suggest you come give a listen to the exploits of Lord Underwood.

A truly talented individual
Mike has a unique, iconic voice, particularly for reading HP Lovecraft. It’s like Marc Thompson for Star Wars novels- I don’t want to hear anyone else’s voice for this genre.
Congrats on leaving FB as well. I’m so happy for you and hopefully more people will come to the same conclusion you did (after a very careful though process). Off to Patreon now...

Bravo!!!
I’ve been listening to Mike since the early 2000’s. In fact, U&F was the first full podcast I listened to!!! This is probably my 4th or 5th listen through and it’s still as good as the first time! I honestly forget that Mike is doing all the voices and when that reality hits me.... it blows me away every time!
I’m so glad to see you’re still putting out new recordings! Please keep them coming!!!!

Finally, an author who can read as well as he writes
One of the only times I've listened to a podcast and didn't skip the into and outro. Bennett's commentary and playful prefaces are as entertaining as the book itself. His use of accent and timber create individual characters in spite of a limited vocal range that bring the book to life allowing the listener to emerse themselves in to this very entertaining story.
Hope other podcast creators use this as an example of both a good story and good story telling

Forget Twilight, Trueblood, the Vampire diaries or any other recent vampire stories. Click directly through to Underwood and Flinch. You'll be glad you did. Runs the gamut of vampire lore into present day Spain, but with a unique twist. Expertly narrated by the author in English with English, Russian and Spanish accented character voices, professionally produced and most important, brilliantly written.

Best podcast ever.
Okay this has been amongst the best vampire stories ever, and certainly the best vampire story since the new wave of vampire fiction. Not being a 13 year old girl, I am not overly familiar with "Twilight" or "Vampire Diaries" but I know enough about them to know that they are vapid, overly romanticized , versions of the vampire myth. Nothing like that in U & F. The characters are both believable and amusing. The dialogue flows smoothly, with the ring of truth so often lacking in fiction. The intersecting plot lines draw you right in and could stand on their own as novellas. Not only is everything by M.B brilliantly written, but his performances are so well done that I always have a very clear mental image of each character and feel that they are real individuals and not at all the voice of a single performer. The quality of his production is incomparable and way beyond anything we should reasonably expect from a free podcast. All this aside Mike Bennett is an extremely talented, original and creative writer with a tremendous grasp of the english language and the fact that he has not received a profitable book deal is a sad comment on the state of publishing. I have little disposable income and have as yet to donate to a podcast, but I feel that for all the hours of excellent entertainment Mr. Bennett has provided me I am going to have to make this a first. I eagerly await the Q & A episode and I am taking Mikes advice to wait until then, before I make my contribution.
Everything that I have said about U & F applies equally to his other podcasts. Please Mr. Bennett never stop writing and performing, the world of literature and podcasting would be a sadder and emptier place without you.

The Best Novel You Won
It's 2008 and Lord Underwood has risen from the grave in Spain after 50 years. Alcoholic former medic David Flinch is poised, however reluctantly, to take his familial place as mortal guardian to Lord Underwood. But wait, Lord Underwood must feed of course and how to dispose of all those bodies, or do we really need to? And what about the Sect and David's sister who desperately wants Lord Underwood to turn her into a vampire? Then there are all those pesky Russian mobsters looking to avenge a murder, and the English pub owners who thought they were hidden from them. Pirates (real ones), Nazis, werewolves, white slavery, and nosy detectives too.
Are you sick of wimpy sparkly vampire romance stories? Well U&F is a vampire novel like no other you have ever read (or listened to, or seen).
Check out the treats in Mike Bennett's Hall of Mirrors or what Dusty and Gaz have in store for you over at One Among the Sleepless if you are still skeptical of how good this can be.

Mike Bennett's narration of Underwood and Flinch is excellent. Not just worth the read!
Underwood&Flinch is not just only a superbly written story and thus an exceptional read in bare text, but the performance Mike Bennett puts on display here is simply amazing!
I am a fan of stories read for podcast, but Mike Bennett masters this art, as one could call it, marvelously.
He is precise, has absolute meticulous punchlines and above all he equips his characters with different voices and accents. This is a one-man-show no one should miss! I am in LOVE with this podcast, and even if it comes to an end (which it sadly enough will at some point) I will listen to it over and over again, indulging in his style of storytelling and hanging on to every word.
Very well done, Mike!

Mike The Ham Bennett
That there are 24 pages of reviews should say it all really. Mike while on a fresh spin of the vampire genre, is a versitile voice actor playing all parts. He plays them well with a delicious bit of over acting through his various works. He is indeed a Master Ham served with a pickle and cheese with relish.

Great story, long release interval
As far as the novel goes, it is a great listen... And I will occasionally laugh out loud at work sometimes. The downside is its been over three whole years since this novel started and it's still not even over so it would be great to have weekly or biweekly releases as opposed to monthly or whenever they wanna come out dates. But 5 stars for the book, and no deductions for the length it's taking because I don't believe you should deduct points for how long it takes to write a masterpiece.

Top Notch podcast
A real standout podcast. The writing or the narration alone would be enough to recommend this. Together they reach heights few podcasts or audio-books ever reach.
Mike deserves more recognition for his talents and I'm confident one day he will.

Mike's voice is amazing, I could listen to him recite the alphabet and be completely mezmerized. The great thing is the podcast is just as mezmerizing as his voice, it has just the right amount of humor, darkness and action to keep me wanting more.

Great story.

We need advice
I find everything Mike Bennet creates fabulously entertaining. I see the same concerns repeated in the reviews of his work.... People beg for chapters to be created more quickly (a sentiment which I fully understand). Perhaps Mr. Bennet could advise us as to how this could happen..direct us to donation or other financial support venues). Hopefully writing is now his full time vocation- it most certainly should be. By the way, this is the only review I have ever written for any podcast...this is the only podcast which entertained me enough to do so.

A lot have been good. A few have been great (search Myke Bartlett for those). But this is the first one that has been so awesome that I felt the need to post a review. not your average vampire saga
Wow very entertaining, I am almost caught up to the latest episodes. Someone tell Howard Stern that thanks to his barely there schedule he is losing me to podcasts. I cant stand how people find vampires sexy, they are revolting, frightening creatures. I almost didnt listen because I thought this would be another boring bodice ripper about the poor misunderstood dears. I love the character David and his disgust at having to serve Lord Underwood. The story is really engrossing and the voices to all the characters are so distinct and different even though all are done by the author. I never have to figure out a character, the voices are all completely unique. I recommend this to all!

Ohhh what a baaaaad boy!!!!! U & F- download now
What a great movie this would make! I am a fan of Mike Bennett's work. I've listened to his short stories and novels. I recommend all of them.
U & F is a whole new twist on the vampire & "aide de camp" relationship. What wicked fun! Mike Bennett reads like he is talking to you - holding a conversation - versus a speed read thru the book. The character voices are distinct, and the book's characters are multi faceted and have well developed personalities. Mike Bennett takes his time and has created a quality work. One develops fondness for David - whose reaction is hysterically funny the first time U transforms in front of him. The relationship between U&F evolves as they negotiate their relationship.... and if you think you have it all figured out.... Ha! The story takes another thought provoking about face direction - viable, makes sense, just never what you expect.
Do a search under his name, Mike Bennett pops up all over the place. Everything he does is terrific. Thank you, Mike.

Perfect Production with Great Story and Narration
Have you ever been wandering through the various podcast novels, trying to find a new listen, and discover a gem? Underwood and Flinch is just such a diamond of a production. Mike Bennett's story is masterfully written, and combined with his flair for narration and obviously obsessive concern for production values, makes it the rank at the top of the podcast novels. Hall of mirrors, Sometimes, and One among the sleepless are other productions he has made. You will be glad you listened!

A pleasure, but?
I'm new to Bennett but was curious. I have listened to two episodes so far and I really am enjoying the creepy feel and solid characterizations. I do though wish that it was more fully dramatized. To me its a little distracting to have him read the female parts and then we get the 'he said', 'she said'. and it seems a little forced.
Please consider it for a future effort?

No sparkly emo kids in this story. No, just a relapsed alcoholic who is forced resurrect a hibernating vampire that his family have been guarding for generations. Plenty of blood, horror, and even a few laughs here and there. It's quite a good podcast and the author, Mike Bennett, is an excellent voice actor. With the latest vampire craze, between Twilight and all of the other stuff being put out these days, I was a bit skeptical about this one. However, after devouring all of other Mike's offerings, including One Among the Sleepless and his short stories, I had to give this one a go. Needless to say, I'm glad that I did. If you have had similar resignations, dispense with them and get on board. Mike is a masterful storyteller and his narrative ability is second to none. Very much unlike Mike Bennett, I am a terrible writer. And an even worse typist. So the few words I do write should be read with that in mind. Underwood and Flinch is an absolutely amazing story. I pray that it's ongoing. Mike Bennett's narration is very soft on the ears to this brash American. From A to Z. Plot to characters. Underwood and Flinch via Mike Bennett is MORE than worth your time. AND, it's free. Thanks Mike! ! ! !

Fun and Entertaining
I've just finished the Podcast, Underwood and Flitch, and thoroughly loved it! Mike does an excellent job of fleshing out the characters and painting very vivid scenes. He established an enjoyable pace (not too quick) and leads the reader (or listener) on a most unique jouney through a vampire world in a very non-traditional manner. I would absolutely recommend this Podcast and would not be surprised to see it on the big screen one day, as it is a very refreshing take on the vampire mythos. Well done, Mike!

Bloody Brilliant
I have really enjoyed all of Mike's work ( a first name basis comes easily after hearing his voice trickling into my ears for so long), from stumbling upon "one among the sleepless" to faithfully and reverently tuning into all of his other works after that- But I'd have to say that this is the iceing on the cake. Underwood and Flinch is bloody brilliant, in all aspects of the phrase. Witty banter, nail-biting drama, glutinous gore, where else could you get this much good ...stuff? I find myself cursing the long week (or so) it takes for the next delectible piece of the story to greet my music-playing device because I gobble them up so hungrily.
The best yet Mike! I look forward to the next upload.

Someday Mike Bennett will be a great writer.
For right now, he is a very good writer who is in great need of an editor. His storytelling instincts are good. He does a fine job of differentiating characters and giving each a unique personality. Alas, Bennett sometimes falls into certain bad writing traps that a good, firm editor would kick back to him for a rewrite. A couple examples:
1. Characters sometimes behave in very unrealistic ways because Bennett wants to move the plot in a certain direction. In U&F, a deathbed conversation between the lead character and his dying brother consisted of the brother doing nothing but giving cryptic hints and demanding that David be The Guardian. Realistically, the character would have have said "You have to be The Guardian and this is why..." The whole, lengthy scene should have been rewritten, or even deleted, if Bennett wanted to keep David ignorant of his brother's motives and concerns.
2. When Bennett writes dialog he occasionally has a tin ear. Case in point: Russian characters speaking to each other in broken English, complete with a Boris Badenov accent. When he does this, it takes me right out of the story. A good editor would have kicked it back to him and noted that Russian characters would speak to each other in Russian. The writer would render their dialog in correct English and note that they spoke to each other in Russian. For the audio performance, the actors might affect a slight Russian accent to indicate that the conversation took place in that language.
3. Humor at inappropriate moments. No doubt about it, Bennett is a funny guy. Sometimes, though, he inserts jokes at points that ruin the dramatic tension and are out of character.
More established authors than Bennett have made theses mistakes and others more egregious, so he isn't alone. Some day, though, he will take a place alongside King, Koontz, Barker and the others.

Charming as always.
I got started listening to Mike’s podcasts with One Among the Sleepless, and was very impressed with his attention to detail and charismatic reading. The Hall of Mirrors collection, with it’s implied homage to Night Gallery, charmed me as well. To this American; Mike’s 3D descriptions of the UK story settings -- especially in the short stories -- were as detailed as any travel journal, his fluid narrative making the listener feel ‘there’. Wonderful.
Underwood and Flinch, ostensibly a classically couched Vampire tale, is shaping up to be something very different. The story is populated with well drawn characters, most of which the listener can’t help but like. Underwood himself is fascinating; Mike does the voice foppishly, effeminate, until things go sideways and real violence ensues. With a vocal toggle, Underwood becomes… monstrous. The humanity vanishes, the voice becomes a terrifying rasping growl, a roar. The effect works, Mike’s voice covers the range perfectly. Also wonderful.
Most important, like any great podcast, I find myself regularly checking the feed for the next installment. If it's addictive, and this one is, you know it must be good for you.

Meticulously crafted fun/horror house
You never know what you will encounter when you enter Mr. Bennett's meticulously crafted fun/horror house. I could wear his voice like a pair of hand crafted silk pajamas; with his varying character accents adorning the collar. He could just as well be burning down my house as long as he is narrating the story line while doing so. U and F is a fantastic movie for the minds' eye. He is positively one of the best at narration; with his stories being the preverbal meat and potatoes of his offerings to his faithful followers. As the 'sequel' of U and F unfolds, I can only wait with baited breath for each morsel. Thank you Mr. Bennett for all of your hard work and dedication to your craft. Please keep them coming.

Jolly Good!!!
Although irregular in it's release dates, Underwood and Flinch is one of the best written and performed podcasts(books) out there. Mike Bennett has "hit a home run"! Or should it be... "really drove the stake home"? I guess "hit the coffin nail on the head" doesn't quite fit either. Oh well. It's a great podcast and you should all follow it, subscribe to it, tweet about it and post little comments about it on each others facebook pages.

Mike Bennet is by far the best podcaster out there. His storytelling ability is better than any others I have listened to, and that is a fair few. His stories and a bit macabre but not to much so that it is offensive to my sensitive nature. His voice(s) and reading of the stories totally captivate you and you can completely lose yourseelf in the story and forget everything around you. I can not praise it enough. It is perfect from the reading, the content and the production!

Mike Bennett scared the HELL out of me....
Episode 26 of Underwood & Flinch sent chills up and down my spine! The pure horror I experienced when Michelle holds the lighter to the David Sylvian autographed Japan single "Quiet Life" made me howl in fear and I almost swerved off the road while listening on my commute home from work. Thank God nothing happened to the record. The only thing that would have been worse is if it had been an autographed copy of Japan's "Visions of China."
Thank you Mike! BTW, Mike, I guess, Japan's Mick Karn is not doing well in his battle with cancer. Send him your well wishes.

Incredibly addictive
I was sucked in, (no pun intended, well actually, ok, intended) from the begining....Mike Bennetts talents are too numerous to count. He has written a very intriguing story, then puts it to life with the incredible characters he creates himself. His acting, voice characterization and drama are scary, disturbing, funny and quite realistic, I will recommend this to everyone, thanks so much Mr. Bennett, you are a very talented person!!!

Extraordinarily Good
Mike Bennett is a good author and a great voice actor! He is one of the best readers I have ever heard - yes, better than the big name actors that read for many of the audiobooks. Even if I didn't particularly care for the story (which I do by the way, it's a great story) I would listen for his reading.
Great job Mike!!

Deserves your praise and your money
Mike Bennett takes podcast horror to a whole new skill level. Doing the work of, between five and, 20 people, this guy puts out a product, by himself, that surpasses efforts of production teams with actual budgets.
Page turner plotlines, memorable characters, timeless tales.
Greatness.

A Truly Brillian Novel
As someone whose been rather sick of vampire novels, I approached this story with very low expectations. I was pleasantly surprised.
This story provides truly capitavating dialogue and characters you can truly relate to. I am very glad I took a chance on it.

I am a diehard podcast listener and subscribe to the usual "who's who" of sci-fi/horror writing. Mike Bennett is without a doubt one of my most favorite authors. He has a wonderful delivery of all his stories, mixing witty humor with amazing writing. From One Among the Sleepless to the myriad of short stories to the wonderful new vampire anthology Mike Bennett is a writer not to be missed!!

Thank the podcast gods that Mike has again taken up the pen and commenced the telling of this story!! I've been listening to Mike's stories since I first discovered The Hall of Mirrors, which led to One Among the Sleepless (one of the best ever!) and then to this. Get that cheese out of your pockets.
Mike Bennett is a fun guy to listen to! Just give it a try- pick an entry, any entry, and I'll bet you'll have a good time listening to it. His writing goes down smooth. Smooth like...a smoothie. A red smoothie- blood flavored? Let me take a sip- *slurp*- Oh, no, its strawberry. But like a blood-flavored smoothie, Mike Bennett's podcasts are both disturbing and refreshing. And smoooth.
The only fault I could find with Mr. Bennett is that he doesn't put out a new podcast everyday! But then, he's only human. Or...is he?

Yep, this guy is great
I'm very picky about podcasts and Mike Bennett is good at everything there is in a podcast: Great story, great reading, great characters, and so on. His sense of humor is perfect too. You'll be in the middle of some twisted or nerve-racking scene and then, out of nowhere, a joke that'll make you laugh hard enough to shoot boogers out your nose and onto the windshield.

Blessed abundance
I'm new to Mr. Bennett's work and after listening to few episodes of Hall of Mirrors, I look forward to much more great storytelling from Mr. B. There's nothing like finding something addictive and finding it in abundance. Underwood and Flich was the best
Awesome book, very well writen and read. UnderWood and Flich is very original, horrific (in the good way), with a great plot.
However, It could do with out "F---!" in every other sentence. There was too much of that and was really quite annoying.
The sexual content was okay, but there was way too much, and sometimes, had nothing to do with the story at all.
Also, I hated it when the characters said "oh, praise satan!" that was just uncalled for.
Other than that, great story.
must I tell strangers my nickname?

Hooked me from the prologue
Recommendation from someone who doesn't often read horror: from the blurb & graphic, this book didn't look like my usual type of reading, but I took it out for a spin & got completely hooked. It's skillfully structured around the kinds of relationship conflicts that have fascinated writers & readers through the ages, with well-paced thrills & chills, and wicked humor. It benefits further from compelling narration & high production values. Whether you keep up with the latest in vampire-related fiction or you like a good human story, give it a try & see if Mike Bennett captivates you.

Mike Bennett is incredibly talented. One Among The Sleepless is an excellent masterpiece that will captivate you and at times maybe even bring you to tears as it did me! Not too worry though. Plenty of well-written and well-placed jokes or inspiring moments balance out or even over-power the sadder parts. Hall of Mirrors is sure to give you a creepy skin-crawling, hair-raising, and maybe even a look over your shoulder type of feeling.

Underwood & Flinch
If anyone is familiar with Mike Bennett's other podcasts: Hall of Mirrors (think adult Night Gallery), One Among the Sleepless (How can I categorize?), or Sometimes, you have got to know this is going to be great. He is an excellent writer of an oh, so twisted cast and an excellent voice actor. If you don't know his other work, go right now and get them. Night Crossing is fun, but only a taste of the master's fare. Start with the stories in Mirror then graduate to the addiction of Sleepless.

His Best Yet!
We all know that Mike Bennett is a genius; if you don't know that by now, you haven't been listening to the right Mike Bennett. Underwood & Flinch surpasses that title without a backward glance. From the prologue on, this novel has maintained a breath-taking pace, snappy dialogue, and un"flinch"ing suspense that demands that you download each installment the instant it becomes available. Vampire lovers will delight and non-vampire lovers will finally understand what all the fuss is about. . . .

Just fantastic, anxiously awaiting each episode
My favorite podcaster and storyteller, once I found ‘One among the sleepless’ I have not stopped listening to him. Imaginative and inventive writing puts the visualization clearly in your mind, his vocal abilities are done with such range and emotion that I forget when I’m listening that it’s just one person telling the story and not a roomful of different people. When I got a new smart phone, and added podcasts, Mike Bennett was the first one I added. Always a fan!

Mike has gone and done it again!
Another successfully tense, exciting drama in the Dumas storytelling style (clif hangers at the end of each chapter, leaving you eager for the next "installment") After One Among the Sleepless, and Hall of Mirrors, one has come to expect a certain twisted style of tale, and Mike has, once again, not disappointed! He grasp of the English language, and penchant for performing (excellently) different voices and indeed accents is incredible. It feels like you're sort of a ghost in the story - able to see and hear all, knowing what one character is thinking that another does not - without actually being there! Bravo Mike!

As we say here in Boston, "Wicked awesome!"
One Among The Sleepless was the first full podiobook I had heard, and I was truly amazed at the quality of text and audio. I've been listening to recorded books for many years, and Mike Bennett's performance rivals the best. Even Barbara Rosenblat. There, I said it. And I CAN say it because in Underwood and Flinch I've met Brits from stodgy to earthy, German girlfriends, Spanish waiters, Russian Mafiosi, a pack of Rottweilers... and I've believed, absolutely, in every single one. One Among the Sleepless I heard in its entirety. I'm catching Underwood and Flinch at chapter 16, and I'm not sure how I will wait for the weekly installments. I may implode.

A serious review
I'm titling this review that because I want to give an honest, non-biased review of this podcast. While I love the fact that it's free and well produced there is very little Vampire about this Vampire Novel. I am on chapter 10 and barely know the Vampire in this story at all. Now ask me about the supporting characters and I can go into nauseating detail about thier lives. The acting is entertaining though and the music really puts you into the spirit of it. It just never materializes past that. Sorry Mike but try and stick to what the title promises on your next adventure.

Of course I moved directly into One among the Sleepless and I find that I become anxious when I have to wait too long for the next installment of Underwood & Flinch. Mike.....You Are Awesome. A play on the stage of our minds
Mike Bennett has again, created a podcast of his novel, using personas and voices that he creates to stage a play behind our closed eyes. That is if we dare to close our eyes. Wondering who might be standing in front of us when we open them. This vampire novel has the expected horror as well as the appreciated humor while, early in the novel, we follow David and his efforts to get out of becoming the servant of the Vampire Underwood. It is his family duty, but will his sister overcome the sexist idea of the servant being male only? David can only hope so. I know that I must follow along this winding path to find out what is in David Flinch's future. Entertained again by Mike Bennett's imagination.

Mike Bennett is an awesome author and story teller. I listen to a lot of Podcast, and there are a lot of great ones out there, but for my taste Mike Bennett is the best. I joined iTunes specifically for Mike Bennett and to turn other people onto his work (now that I am here and see how much iTunes has to offer I am really glad I joined). I recommend that everyone listen to his Podcasts. I don't think it is possible for anyone not to like them, actually I don't see how anyone could not think they were great. His writing is incredible, the story plots, his descriptions of things and events, the way he brings his characters alive, everything is amazing. Not to mention his voices, even if he couldn't write, he could have a career as a voice actor. I know it may sound like I am putting the praise on pretty thick, but listen to one of his Podcast "Hall of Mirrors" is a good one to start with, "Salvation" being my favorite story in it. Then if you don't agree with me... well I don't know your just weird or something :)

Underwood and Flinch
I've been a fan of Mike Bennett's for a while. The first few episodes of Underwood and Flinch show that he's moved up to the level where only the finest podcasts dwell, and in my opinion, this represents such a small fraction of the total offerings that are out there. The storyline is compelling enough that I find myself listening to an episode more than once while I wait for the next installment. And Mike's range of voices is so versatile that the cast of one suffices admirably. The production quality is fantastic. As fussy as I am about my listening, if you like the horror/supernatural genre, it doesn't get any better than this. Check out Underwood and Flinch - you won't regret it, I promise.

I have listened to every one of the Hall of Mirrors podcasts, the Underwood and Flinch prologue, and I am currently working on the One Among the Sleepless novel. Everything I have listened to by Mike has been absolutely delightful, and I will definitely stay subscribed to all of the feeds. My favorites are Hair and Skin, Salvation, and Underwood and Flinch (I have a deliciously demented taste). Great job Mike, and I have recommended to everyone who loves horror that they have a listen as well. These podcasts are what gets me through a 12 hour shift at work. Again, bravo, and I look forward to all future additions. Thank you.

Underwood and Flinch one of the best
"Underwood and Flinch" is only one episode into the story as I write, but it is already shaping up to be one of the best stories of the year. Too bad about the cat.

One of the best podasts!
This is a wonderful podcast and I absolutely love listening to Mike. The voices he uses for his stories are so helpful in keeping all of the characters organized in my head. Not only are the stories amazing and attention capturing, but his voice is fantastic to listen to.

Delight in the ghastly drips from every word
Mike Bennett wears the badge of "one sick @#%&" proudly. He revels in dishing out tales of the demented and strange. Not only is he a gifted wordsmith, he is one fine actor in his own right. One of the best podcasts on the net.

Excellent work!
I must say Mike Bennett does an excellent job of telling stories, excellent! I listen to them on my way to and from work (it's an hour long drive one way!) and listening to him makes the time go by quickly, rather toooo quickly! No other podcast could compare to this.

Clever, fun, genre-jumping tale....
Part horror, part comedy, part suspense.... One Among the Sleepless was the first full-length podcast novel I listened to, and it got me hooked. Mike's characters are all fun and likeable (even the unlikeable ones), and his plots twist around an intertwine very unexpectedly. I can't wait for his next novel! Yeah, nice one mate! :-D

This is great fiction!
Mike Bennett is a wonderful new voice in fiction. The fact that he is giving this stuff away for free, as a podcast, is just icing on the cake. Interesting, scary, creepy and funny, Hall of Mirrors is a great place to start if you're looking for something that is not your every day run of the mill short story. He is also a master of narration too. He is capable of capturing the moment of the characters, using different voices and mixing techniques to bring the story all the way to you. Straight through your ears and in to your brain. You'll never be the same. Subscribe, now. Or one day you may regretably find out you've been missing something unique and special all this time.

Great cast
Great stories. Hall of Mirrors rocks. Fantastic narration. His talks before and after the stories are spooky, in a good way I mean. He is this generation's Vincent Price. Don't listen with the lights out!

The most entertaining podcast novel I've heard
Mike Bennett's One Among The Sleepless is twisted, dark and warped. I'd highly recommend that he seek the advice of a psychiatrist before he writes anything else. That said, I listen to a lot of podcast fiction, and this was by far the most fun, entertaining and engaging podcast I've ever listened to. And did I mention it was warped? Looking forward to more from Mike Bennett (soon, hopefully).

WOW...Podcasts kick...I'm still relatively new to the Podcast world but one thing that I've come to learn is that the voices are everything. If you cannot tolerate the voice than it's difficult or impossible to listen to. One Among the Sleepless and Mike Bennett have it all. The voices, story line, humor, creepy etc...The voices alone are done very well. It's easy to seperate the characters. The story line is easy to follow with alot of laughs. I laugh out loud and I swear my family thinks I've gone nuts. This is my first Mike Bennett story and I have told all my friends about this one. Keep up the great work Mike...

Unforgettable characters brought to life in your ears!
Not yet at the end and I've already passed this along to friends. Mike Bennett's characters could only be portrayed so vividly by their creator! Can't wait to hear what happens next.

Great, Amazing, Gotta Read. Seriously.
I have listened to a lot of audiobooks while I am at work and this one stands out among the rest. You have to experience it for yourself. It is so good that I even went and donated some money to him on paypal to say thanks. I have never done this before but I felt like I wanted to give him something to say how much I enjoy his writings. He does a good job to make the reader connect with the character. The voice quality is great and he uses different voices for each character which helps with getting more hooked on his audiobooks. I have been telling all my friends about him. Read his other books too. His skills are not only shown in this book.

A modern master
Mike Bennett is a modern master of the just ever so slightly off. He's twisted, dark and most definitely funny and One Among The Sleepless is no exception. I would listen to Mike Bennett read his grocery list because I know it would be well written and exquisitely read…and he’s got a great voice.
Mike Bennet has given us a brillant story backed by a brillant delivery. Each week I looked forward to him filtering into my ears and dragging me into his story with his cohersive narratives. Check this story out if you like things like Snatch or fight club for their odd out of the box look on society, or if you like a great ensamble of characters. It's a great read!!

Unexpectedly awesome
I stumbled onto Mike Bennett while looking for a horror-cast for halloween spookdom, and found his Hall of Mirrors. Found this book on his website and am totally hooked...just about four episodes from the finale...and am slightly sad that it's almost over. The writing is fresh, wicked and unexpectedly macabre in its humor. Bennett's storytelling ability is to be envied by all. That's enough...I have to get back to episode 25.

Funny, scary, and suspense-packed!
One Among the Sleepless is so good it very quickly becomes a friend: it makes you laugh, think, and frustrates you just enough for it to be enjoyable! Mike Bennett is a true master in the art of storytelling. Even his intros and outros are witty and enjoyable. A very special podcast novel.

Brilliant Stuff!!!
Mike Bennett's "One Among the Sleepless" is perhaps my favourite fiction podcast of all time. The man is well and truly a mad creative genius! Not only is the story/plot top-notch and riveting, but Mike's reading performance puts it off the scale. It's amazing to realise that his day job is teaching, what I would have given to have had teacher even half as entertaining as 'Mad Mike' Bennett. Brilliant Stuff!!! --ryan (Lexington Kentucky USA)

Biting humor
For fans of British comedy "One among the Sleepless" is not to be missed. Mike has a smooth reading voice and well defined character voices. Wear your headphones, learn to laugh quietly and be careful of drinking while listening so as not to have to clean your monitor and keyboard, like I did twice, (wanker).
