Great except the criminal wokeism
Gentlemen, I get it, it’s 2023, and wokeism is mandatory, but cmon! No one’s offended by writing black widow in a sex positive tone.

Ads ruin content
I’ve been listening to your show since the first season and subscribed to your Patreon for a year or two. I don’t mind that you’ve added sponsors, happy you’re getting ad revenue, but the ads themselves are loud, obnoxious, and repetitive at Clockwork Orange levels. I love the content but can’t stand listening anymore. If you had an ad free supported version I’d pay for it.

Challenging and Conversational
You wouldn’t think a single minute would go folks much to talk about, but, lo and behold, the challenge is real. So is the engaging conversation! Well done, gentlemen! I admire your effort.

Such a great way to dive deeper into some of my favorite movies. I love how Kyle and Rob unlock so many interesting parts. It’s a fun, entertaining podcast. Give it a listen!

A whole new meaning to deep dive
How much REALLY happens in a single minute of an MCU Movie? This podcast blew my mind, showing so many of the little things you would never notice that make the movie what it is, and in such an entertaining way.

Entertaining and informative
I found this podcast after the hosts appeared on the Spider-Man Minute. They’ve quickly become a companion to my commute and household chores. The hosts are amiable and professional, very fact driven, and the information they provide is easy to take in. Two points of constructive criticism: 1. I’d recommend listening to any available commentary before beginning a project like this. A Google search quickly led me to a bootleg recording of a live commentary Favreau and Downey Jr made that answered several questions you had. 2. It’s worth spending a few episodes on the development process of the movie. It sounds like you had this information, but hearing it piecemeal is less effective than telling it in chronological order. Thank you for this labor of love, and I look forward to listening to The Incredible Hulk minute by minute!

So entertaining!
These guys are the best. No, really! I'm not even really a Marvel super-fan (shhh. don't tell), but Andy and Pete are smart and fun to listen to. It's obvious they really love the chance to dig deep like this, but the conversation keeps moving due to the organized show format and great editing Keep it up, Andy and Pete!

Perfect!
Listen. This podcast is perfect in so many ways. I'm just going to give you a few. It's easily digestible. Each episode so far is about 18-20 minutes on average. The absolute right amount of time to spend analyzing a minute of film. No fat, no filler, no wasted time. The hosts are veterans of the podcasting game and it shows. Both Andy and Pete are thoughtful, articulate, knowledgeable and funny! The production is slick, but not in a "morning zoo" kind of way. They put out an episode five days a week. So binge-able! I'll shut up now, but do yourself a favor and tap that subsribe button.

These guys are crazy
Tackling a review of the Marvel Cinematic Universe on its own is a daunting task. Doing it one minute at a time in pure insanity. Somehow these guys manage to make it both entertaining and informative. Who knew there was so much to discuss and discover in each minute?

And lo, there came a time...
I’m glad this is the team that will be reviewing the MCU one minute at a time. They’ve only been airing episodes for one week and I can tell already by the level of thought and detail they put into it this will be a very informative and fun show.

Finally!
I just found these guys. I have waited years for Marvel movies to be reviewed as a Movie by Minute format. I'm so glad that professional podcasters have started this movie. They have good microphones and speak clearly.

- TA087: I Don’t Even Get to Be the Real VillainMinute Eighty Seven: From A Somewhat Peaceful New Jersey Field to Iron Man Spinning the TurbinePlaywright Dean O’Carroll joins us in this episode! In the eighty-seventh minute of The Avengers...We leave Thor in the field and return to Loki, happy to have rid himself of his brother again. It turns out Coulson’s not dead though, and he’s got some things to say to Loki. It may be things he needs to get off his chest, it may be a distraction to ready his weapon. Either way, they work and it seems he gets just enough under Loki’s skin by calling him out as someone who lacks conviction. Loki voices a few reasons as to perhaps his motivations for letting himself get caught as well – he’s divided the team and damaged the helicarrier. But that’s when Coulson gets a shot off with his Destroyer Armor Prototype Gun, aka the Bambino, and it’s a doozy of a shot, blasting Loki through an iron wall. Too bad he’s relatively unfazed. On the bridge, everyone’s in panic mode as two engines are now down. So why is everyone on the bridge listing with the ship, but no one else in the ship seems to be reacting? Story convenience is our answer. Fury’s watching the altimeter drop, and so is Tony as he gets ready to start spinning the turbine for engine three. Tune in! - TA086: A Blow to the HeadMinute Eighty Six: From Black Widow Nailing Hawkeye to Thor Bouncing Along the New Jersey ShorePlaywright Dean O’Carroll joins us in this episode! In the eighty-sixth minute of The Avengers...While Thor falls from the helicarrier, we cut to Natasha and Clint mid-fight. Again, why is the helicarrier so seemingly unpopulated? Where is everyone? Sure, this is a narrow corridor in the engine room, but with thousands of people on board, surely someone is here? Regarding the fight, why does this one seem so lackluster? Is it the direction? The cinematography? The fight choreography? The performances? Hard to say. It just doesn’t grab us. But then again, perhaps for a fight between two non-supers, that was the intention? It’s just disappointing because it really feels like they could deliver a bit more. The fight ends with Natasha clocking Clint after he seems to possibly be coming out of his mind control. And that sends us back to the skies over New Jersey with Thor, still trapped in the cell as he works to gain some leverage so he can use Mjølnir to break free. Luckily, he does just as it’s about to smash on the shore, and Thor skips across the field like a stone in a pond. Tune in! - Marvel Movie Minute Jun 2 · 32m TA085: Coulson’s Last StandMinute Eighty Five: From Coulson Taking Charge to The Cage Plummeting Toward the EarthPlaywright Dean O’Carroll joins us in this episode! In the eighty-fifth minute of The Avengers... It’s a heavy minute! First, Agent Coulson takes charge of things in the detention area, but then Loki surprises him and Thor by appearing behind him and driving the scepter into his back. This is the moment the writer/director has been building toward with all of our growing sympathies for Coulson. It’s a mean writing trick but an incredibly effective one. This does lead to some questions from us though. At what point did Loki actually start his magic? And how did he get the scepter? Did the mercenary here grab it for him at some point? We kinda lose track of it after the helicarrier attack starts. Regardless, the minute’s effective, and the fact that Loki and Thor don’t speak but only share looks before Loki hits the plunger says volumes. It’s a powerful minute. Tune in! - TA084: The God of PetulanceMinute Eighty Four: From Thor Running at Loki to Another Downed Mercenary... But From Whom?Mike Gravagno from The Superhero Show Show and Movie of the Year joins us in this episode! In the eighty-fourth minute of The Avengers...We’re really focused on the filial bond that’s broken in this minute. Once again, Loki manages to trick Thor, this time with his illusion to get Thor into the cell. It plays well, but why doesn’t Loki actually cause more mischief? Wear funny outfits, play funny tricks, etc.? He doesn’t really get to do much of that ever throughout the series, barring a few bits in Thor: The Dark World as Gravagno points out. We also talk about how dark of a character he is here, and how it’s interesting how easy it is for audiences to forgive this genocidal maniac just because Tom Hiddleston’s so charming and the character’s fun. It’s in line with characters like Hannibal Lecter. We get more fighting between Barton and Romanoff. Where is everyone though? Why is this part of the ship so barren? It’s a shame their fight isn’t very exciting. It does have cool moves though, and it gives us a chance to talk about Barton’s dagger. The minute ends back in the cell as Thor hits the glass. Why doesn’t he keep hitting it though? Surely, he’d get out before Loki had a chance to open the door and drop him, and even if he didn’t, he’d be closer to out of the cell and have an easier time stopping Loki. But Loki decides to play dirty and is about to drop him when a mysterious figure knocks out the mercenary. But who? We won’t find out today, but Gravagno does get to talk about his love of Coulson. - TA083: It’s in the NameMinute Eighty Three: From The Helicarrier Tipping to Thor BellowingMike Gravagno from The Superhero Show Show and Movie of the Year joins us in this episode! In the eighty-third minute of The Avengers...We’re really listing now, but what’s important is that only the bridge lists. The rest of the ship doesn’t. Actually, we realize that even on the bridge, only some people list. One person who doesn’t is Agent Sitwell. He remains in his seat working on his computer. (Wait, didn’t it shut down?) Some may say that Agent Sitwell sits well... Yeah... We find Natasha still in shock and likely injured after getting backhanded by Hulk. We debate the nature of her character in this beat in relation to the writer/director’s handling of female characters, and think this is likely okay, but maybe that’s just because Scarlett Johansson is performing so well here. It’s a tough bit, but what’s great about it is that she’s triggered back into the fight because of her connection to Barton. Her pursuit of him, or really of snapping him out of whatever spell he’s under, plays well. We spend a bit of time with Iron Man making the terrible decision to get into the fan and spin it manually, and we see Steve slip and fall off the helicarrier, luckily grabbing onto a loose cable. And the minute ends with Thor seeing his brother stepping out of his cell. Lots to talk about in this one! Tune in! - TA082: The Grenade BlockMinute Eighty Two: From Barton’s Mercenaries Approaching Engine Three to Engine One in Shut-Down Mike Gravagno from The Superhero Show Show and Movie of the Year joins us in this episode! In the eighty-second minute of The Avengers...Barton’s and Loki’s mercenaries finally make it to engine three where they prepare to sabotage it further with a grenade, but Steve sees them and does a wild move to block the grenade, then parkour his way to the merc to take him down. It’s a pretty cool bit, and we’re here for it. Plus, Steve and grenades... they have a history. We talk a bit about Steve’s crazy move to kick the gun out of the second merc’s hands UP to the catwalk by the red lever. It’s as if he knew he’d need it... Hrm... We also get to talk about Steve’s penchant for tossing people off of planes. Perhaps he prefers that to shooting them? He certainly never hits the guys with his shots. It’s like two Stormtroopers here. We go from here to the bridge where Fury takes down the fifth mercenary trying to get in. What’s up with the ever-multiplying mercenaries? Did Barton have some planted on the ship? Regardless, why is Fury so confused about the fact that they just keep coming? He’s interrupted in his thinkining, though, because Barton finally pops up – in a vent – and starts shooting arrows. Why doesn’t he take Fury out? It does give us a chance to talk about his data arrow though. Yeah, that’s a thing. The arrow shuts down engine one, along with the computers on the bridge – well, select computers, at least – and everyone starts listing. Even Agent Sitwell! Tune in! - TA081: Oh No You Don’t!Minute Eighty One: From Moving Into Position to Massive Falling DebrisRyanne Bennett from Black Girl Nerds joins us in this episode! In the eighty-first minute of The Avengers...It’s our SHIELD pilot up against Hulk. Who will win? Well, we all know how this is going to play out. Hulk stomps everyone. He’s stomping Thor (the puny god). He stomps the aircraft our pilot’s flying, and let’s be honest – he’s now thoroughly stomped the helicarrier, which certainly won’t be able to land in the ocean now that it’s got this giant hole in the lab windows. How do they fix it anyway? We talk about Hulk taking out the aircraft, and the horror of 1) having to use an ejection seat then 2) being caught and thrown by Hulk in the process. At least his chute still opens! Hulk manages to blow the aircraft up before falling to New Jersey. Iron Man’s also irresponsibly knocking pieces down to New Jersey. So much for anyone below! - TA080: Awkward Choke HoldMinute Eighty: From Thor Trying a Choke Hold on Hulk to The Young SHIELD Pilot Dropping into PositionJason Dittmer, Professor of Political Geography at University College London and author of ‘Captain America and the Nationalist Superhero’, joins us in this episode! In the Eightieth minute of The Avengers...We start this minute with some awkward shots of Thor and Hulk fighting. Is that because of the shot construction trying to make room for the CG Hulk? We’re not sure, but it certainly stands out. From there, we go to the bridge, just in time for a grenade to land, throwing Agent Hill back. Fury takes out two of Barton’s mercenaries, which sets us off on our tracking of the various operatives to see if there truly are just seven. We also debate if Nick is truly the best super spy as well as the best helicarrier pilot, or if he’s actually quite mediocre at both, but happens to know how to do both so comes in handy. We get a bit of Coulson as he sets out to retrieve something from a secured locker, we get Thor and Hulk landing in the Wishbone lab, and we get Hill giving orders to one of the nearby Lightnings – real planes! – to take on Hulk. - Marvel Movie Minute May 25 · 26m TA079: A Certified Lever LoverMinute Seventy Nine: From Tony’s Tech Jargon to Hulk Failing to Pick Up MjølnirJason Dittmer, Professor of Political Geography at University College London and author of ‘Captain America and the Nationalist Superhero’, joins us in this episode! In the seventy-ninth minute of The Avengers...So much of Tony-science in this minute! We get to talk about magnetic levitation, or mag-lev. We also get to discuss stators and the potential logic behind what Tony’s trying to do. It somewhat makes sense. Is that good enough? There’s also some serious discussion about the red lever and how it plays into Tony’s dumbing down the conversation. From there, we return to Thor and Hulk. We get a nice dutch angle of Thor – a nice nod to Kenneth Branagh’s style. We also get the surprising return of tiptoeing Hulk. Why is he so quiet in his approach to Thor? There’s also the calling of Mjølnir which elicits some concerns. That being said, we do get some fantastic beats of the fight through the rest of the minute – Thor undercutting Hulk with Mjølnir, hurling him into a harrier jet in a speed-ramped shot shines. Thor dropping and sliding on his knees while leaning back to dodge the harrier wing is another. And Hulk grabbing Mjølnir, only to get pinned by it is a third. We struggle through some of this minute, but still genuinely enjoy it, and have a great conversation about all of it. Tune in! - TA078: Hulk Head Through Bulk HeadMinute Seventy Eight: From The Hallway Chase to Steve Warning Tony About That Thing Getting Up To SpeedJason Dittmer, Professor of Political Geography at University College London and author of ‘Captain America and the Nationalist Superhero’, joins us in this episode! In the seventy-eighth minute of The Avengers...The hallway run as Hulk chases Black Widow is a fantastic shot and something that’s perfect for the trailer. What about the logic of designing a ship like this? Does the space make sense? We also run into some issues talking about the writer/director’s decision to have Hulk backhand Natasha, then shortly after prepare to do it again. It feels a bit... gross. But Thor arrives to save the day. Why not with Mjølnir? Oh yeah – we need to save that moment for a cool entry later. But can Thor really move this fast otherwise? He and Hulk end up in the lower docking area where we’ll see them fight for a few minutes. Why did it take Thor so long to join the fray though? And at what point did he learn that Bruce turns into this green monster? Does it matter that that’s never set up? Regardless, Hulk smashes him a bit more. We end the minute back with Tony and Steve as Tony talks super conductors and kick-starting the engine, things that don’t make much sense. But it’s fun, right? Tune in! In the seventy-seventh minute of The Avengers...Tony and Steve continue their work on repairing the engine. We’re not sure about Steve’s decision to perform gymnastic feats on this damaged part of the aircraft, but he seems to be a monkey without fear of gravity, and we’re okay with it. Chris Evans delivers his line well here. Tony does his usual thing. Back with Natasha, she’s now hiding from Hulk, who seems to have learned the art of tiptoeing. Why is he so quiet? And why has he decided to specifically single her out as his target? Wouldn’t he normally forget about her shortly after losing sight of her? We also get to talk about a deleted scene and the start of the hallway run. Tune in! Join the conversation with movie lovers from around the world on The Next Reel’s Discord channel! In the seventy-sixth minute of The Avengers...Natasha breaks free from the pipe, which causes Hulk to turn and see her. The chase begins! We talk a bit about this pursuit, which takes place over the next few minutes. We see Loki smiling in his cell as he hears Hulk roar, which leads us to discuss the cage in the first place – why did they put Loki here instead of a different non-Hulk related cell? How do they get Hulk into it? It doesn’t make a lot of sense. From there, we head to the bridge where Nick Fury works to get his crew moving the helicarrier out to sea to protect the people on land below them. That, of course, leads us to discussing the reasons a flying aircraft carrier would ever exist in the first place. We also get to meet Jesse Garcia, our Carrier Bridge Tech, who learns to navigate with the sun. The minute ends with Steve heading out to the damaged engine where he meets up with Tony, now in his Iron Man suit. It’s a busy minute of action. Tune in! In the seventy-fifth minute of The Avengers...We get to talk a bit about Tony and his bespoke traveling closet for his Mark VI suit, as well as the fact that it powers up, presumably to warm it up for him and his arc reactor. But really, this minute is about the impending, hulking conflict between Natasha and Bruce. Natasha’s pinned down and Bruce is, well, losing control. Is it Natasha that finally pushes him over the edge? Or was he going there anyway? We get to talk a bit about these early stages of his transformation, what works, and what doesn’t. We also get to discuss our maintenance guys who come running in only to be shooed out by Natasha. It’s a great minute and our first chance to see any of Bruce losing control and becoming Hulk! In the seventy-fourth minute of The Avengers...The helicarrier’s under attack and Nick gets everyone to work. We talk about the team building going on here, even if it’s not under the guise of the Avengers as the team. It’s great to see them all working hard to save the helicarrier. - Marvel Movie Minute May 17 · 53m TA073: It’s Coming From Inside the Ship!Minute Seventy Three: From Fury Readying His Sidearm to Fury Shaking His HeadJames Anderson and Colin Parker from the Timeline Scavengers podcast join us in this episode! In the seventy-third minute of The Avengers...It’s a tension-filled minute! We start with Fury reaching for his gun because, as it turns out, Bruce has picked up the scepter. But... why? Is the scepter behaving? Is Loki in control of it in some capacity? There are questions we ask that we’re not even sure the filmmakers at the time had answers to, which is frustrating. Still, knowing down the road it’s the mind stone makes it make more sense, right? The gamma readings trigger the system and Bruce runs to check, but why is the latitude/longitude giving a reading somewhere over the wilds of Quebec? And why is the helicarrier’s reading showing that it’s over Bermuda? Are these Easter eggs for someone in the crew? Was it intentional? Or were they goofs? We may never know. But now the helicarrier’s blowing up like an 80s TV scifi show. Explosions out of the floor. Shaky cams equating a ship under attack. People flying through windows. It plays fine, but certainly gives us plenty to question. Regardless, Barton’s on the attack and our team is separated. Tune in! - TA072: We Needed the Special ArrowsMinute Seventy Two: From Clint Drawing His Bow to Bruce Asking If They Want to Know His Secret to Staying CalmKyle Olson from Marvel Movie Minute seasons 2 and 3 joins us in this episode! In the seventy-second minute of The Avengers...This minute clearly shows that the scepter is somehow influencing the group as we see several of them shaking their heads as if in a fog. But why is this the direction they chose to take? Does it make sense? Is it masterful storytelling or just confusing? We get a break in the tension as Bruce reveals an attempted suicide, which surprisingly is a moment that essentially canonizes a deleted scene from The Incredible Hulk. It’s a great moment, and allows the argument to stop, even if it’s Bruce who now uses it as a chance to start getting angry. Meanwhile, Clint shoots an arrow at the helicarrier. But it’s a cute arrow! Tune in! Join the conversation with movie lovers from around the world on The Next Reel’s Discord channel! - TA071: It’s Kinda Like AlcoholMinute Seventy One: From Team Time Bomb to Clint Preparing HimselfKyle Olson from Marvel Movie Minute seasons 2 and 3 joins us in this episode! In the seventy-first minute of The Avengers...Now Fury’s getting concerned that Bruce may hulk out. Why isn’t Natasha involved in the conversation any more? All she does in this minute is have a cutesy smirk after one of Tony’s quippy lines. Should she be given more here? Why is Tony so intent on getting Bruce to hulk out? Does it make sense here in the Helicarrier? The comments he and Steve throw at each other are not only great, they’re very accurate. This scene plays incredibly well. So why does Loki send a guy with a bow and arrow to attack instead of, you know, a missile or something? Tune in! - TA070: Above or Below Angry Bees?Minute Seventy: From Tony Wondering Why It’s About Him to A Chemical MixtureKyle Olson from Marvel Movie Minute seasons 2 and 3 joins us in this episode! In the seventieth minute of The Avengers...More fighting, but now Steve’s getting some feelings out about Tony. Pretty soon, everyone’s arguing with everyone and we get a wonderfully magical shot as the camera pushes in on the scepter then goes up and over it, returning to the group now upside down. It’s a great way to demonstrate what’s happening here and why. Plus, it allows us to cut to Clint Barton, now in his very own quinjet with his very own troop as they approach the Helicarrier in preparation for battle. And it’s the scepter they seem to be using to find their way, but is that why it’s glowing? Or is it that it’s using its own powers to influence people, and by doing so is releasing the gamma Clint needs to find it? Or is it Loki somehow controlling it? Tune in! - TA069: Lying About AliensMinute Sixty Nine: From Bruce Wondering About Natasha’s Manipulations to Steve Wondering About Tony’s WeaponsKyle Olson from Marvel Movie Minute seasons 2 and 3 joins us in this episode! In the sixty-ninth minute of The Avengers...The argument continues! Tony and Bruce and Steve gang up on Nick. Bruce and Natasha are also arguing. We get Mark Ruffalo bringing up WMDs. And Nick blames everything on Thor! So who’s right in this argument? Why are they fighting? Does it feel like Fury’s flailing a bit to regain control? We may have issues with the writer/director but this dialogue and scene construction is fantastic. Tune in! Minute Sixty Eight: From Natasha in Action to Loki Manipulating BannerKyle Olson from Marvel Movie Minute seasons 2 and 3 joins us in this episode! In the sixty-eighth minute of The Avengers...Natasha’s figured things out. We love how she’s played Loki here. Her ‘thank you’ to him is particularly gratifying. The shots of her looking at Loki followed by Loki looking at her – though from a profile shot – do look a bit funky though. We talk a bit about the interior workings of the Helicarrier shot that gets us from the prison to the lab, even if it is a strange space that’s hard to make much sense of. But it does get us into the lab, and into the conversation that Kyle’s here for. It’s his favorite scene in the film, and we understand why. We get to discuss the teaming up of Tony and Bruce against Fury, and how that soon includes Steve. Considering how Steve stormed out earlier, it’s nice to see he’s now on their side, albeit not for long. Phase Two is introduced. Not the films, but the weapons, and we complain about the fact that they couldn’t come up with a different name. We also ponder Hydra’s and Zola’s involvement in continuing the development of Tesseract weaponry. There’s a lot going on in this minute and we’re here for it. Tune in! Minute Sixty Seven: From Lying and Killing to Figuring It OutRobin Burdge from Karate Kid Minute and Fright Night Minute joins us in this episode! In the sixty-seventh minute of The Avengers...Loki continues his monologue to Natasha, and unfortunately says one of the most disgusting things ever said in a Marvel film. It really feels like the writer/director’s hand at work here, and it’s just gross. That aside, Loki’s full-on malicious to Natasha as he works to break her down, destroying her hope that Clint will be saved. But it’s all okay because it’s just another of her fake-outs! Right? Well, it does play effectively, as gross as the insult is. It’s just a shame that Natasha isn’t given other ways to trick villains. There’s also talk about what we’re seeing in the montage and how all of our heroes are uncovering unsavory truths about SHIELD and showing that no one is to be trusted. Tune in! Minute Sixty Six: From No Way Natasha Will Let Loki Out to Loki Lashing OutMatthew Costello, author of several works on politics and superheroes including Secret Identity Crisis: Comic books and the Unmasking of Cold War America, joins us in this episode! In the sixty-sixth minute of The Avengers...We’re in the middle of the conversation/interrogation/manipulation match between Loki and Natasha. It’s a strong conversation and great minute in the film. Loki clearly got a lot of info out of Clint to use against Natasha, but would it have made sense for Clint to also have told Loki that she’d be expecting that? And that perhaps she’d be using that knowledge against Loki? We decide that it’s likely Loki’s hubris meant he never even asked Clint any more details beyond what he’d given already. The construction of the scene is great, particularly the reflection of Loki as he walks toward the glass to confront her. The performers are nailing their roles here. Its certainly gives us a lot to discuss. Tune in! Join the conversation with movie lovers from around the world on The Next Reel’s Discord channel! - TA065: Counselor and ConfidantMinute Sixty Five: From Agent Romanoff Questioning Loki About Barton’s Mind to Loki Asking Her What She’d Do If He Vowed to Spare HimTravis Bow from the Reel Comic Heroes podcast and Marvel Events Timeline podcast joins us in this episode! In the sixty-fifth minute of The Avengers...We continue our counseling session – I mean interrogation – between Loki and Natasha. Okay, so it’s really neither as she’s covertly made her way here to find out what Loki’s plans are with Agent Barton. All of this plays both of their strengths and make for an interesting scene between two people who love deception. Loki, for some reason, feels he’s got the upper hand as he starts asking her to open up, and finding that she will. It’s an interesting moment because she’s the one who now has the upper hand. He just can’t see it yet. We have a great conversation about this minute, and bid adieu to Travis after joining us for his last minute this season. Tune in! - TA064: I Bet He Thinks This Plot Is About Him.Minute Sixty Four: From Loki Craving Power and Vengeance to Loki Expanding Agent Barton’s MindTravis Bow from the Reel Comic Heroes podcast and Marvel Events Timeline podcast joins us in this episode! In the sixty-fourth minute of The Avengers...Thor and Fury wrap up their conversation, and Fury takes it dark. Is he saying he wants Thor to torture his brother? Yikes! Meanwhile, Thor is making it all about him. That’s so Thor. What’s interesting is that Loki likely would be trying to take over Midgard because it was Thor’s regardless of whether Thor knew or not, but Thor turning the entire plot into one of vengeance on him does feel like maybe he’s forgetting some of all those valuable lessons he’d learned before. We jump from there to find Loki in his cell, and lo and behold, Natasha’s managed to sneak up on him. How? And why? We decide it didn’t matter how, but it’s awfully funny as a potential character trait that she has to sneak in everywhere she goes because she’s just so good at it. As for why, it’s clearly part of her plot to get info from him. What’s interesting about the scene, though, is that both of them are tricksters and employ this sort of approach, plus Clint likely told Loki everything about her, so he should know she does this sort of thing. That puts her in a place where she’s proving here that she’s much better at it than Loki. It’s a great minute, even if we do have some questions about the logistics and reasons. Tune in! - TA063: “When I First Came to Earth... Recently.”Minute Sixty Three: From Thor Changing Erik’s Life to Thor’s Thoughts on Loki’s MindTravis Bow from the Reel Comic Heroes podcast and Marvel Events Timeline podcast joins us in this episode! In the sixty-third minute of The Avengers...It’s all about the walk-and-talk with Coulson and Thor. This is a fantastic scene of character building. It’s got humor, thoughts on war, Bilgesnipes – everything that makes a scene play well. And then Fury interrupts, and the beautiful character scene shifts to plot and, well, it feels a bit clunky. It’s not bad, and we love Fury, but it just feels a bit more written. Still, we’re getting a lot out of these characters as the scene builds to some darker places in tomorrow’s minute. Tune in!
