Love the show, but PLEASE remove politics
Great show, however there is an increase in political talk / bias, Twitter and Elon rants, and a decrease in actual Tech Talk

Electronics and Apple talk is really good, but!!!!
Leo…. Stick to Apple talk. Your show is really amazing and I really enjoy listening, until you talk politics. Start another podcast about politics. Leave this podcast strictly Apple and tech talk.

Been Listening for Years
I’ve been listening for many years and I still consistently enjoy the show and the banter between the host. I miss Rene Ritchie but Jason Snell has been a very worthy addition in his place. Really look forward to Alex’s picks and information as it’s always technical and informative. They usually have great guests on the show including some previous host like Rene. This podcast has become part of my life. The weeks that they take their well deserved break always makes my commute pretty dull. I hope the show continues on for many years.

Can’t leave out politics
Tried to listen to Tuesday’s episode for an escape from politics and learn about tech. I used to listen for an escape from everything else. But that’s impossible. Tried to fake an Apple nexus to slam Elon Musk. If I wanted a bunch of liberal dorks to to talk about politics, I could listen to others.

Lefty Leo and crew
Lefty Leo strikes again. It would really be nice if the MacBreak show was less about politics. I should not be able to tell that Leo is a left wing communist. Andy is a nice guy but he belongs on a show more about tech that he can talk to his hearts desire. He goes on and on without taking a breath. Rene is very informative and is great on the show. Alex is the most level headed guy on the show and often, in my opinion, gets figuratively, shouted down whenever he has an opinion that’s not Leo’s or Andy’s. I used to listen to all the shows, but since he got rid of Dvorak it’s not enjoyable anymore.

Desperately needs a reboot
Leo is a terrific host, and a smart enough broadcaster to know that this show is broken. But he makes no changes, either out of friendship or inertia. Alex's POV is pretty niche, and Andy's rambling is unlistenable. Jason should be the centerpiece of the reboot, with two new hosts....and Leo. Until then, there are many better Apple shows to choose from. (Including another podcast with Jason, "Upgrade.")

Just ehh
They discuss lots of good Apple topics, but they side train too much. Leo and Andy are very left leaning bias, and it shows. Andy also always rambles without really saying anything. I’ve been listening for a while, but it’s definitely not very good anymore.

Best resource for all things mac
After a long absence from listening to the show, I decided to give it another try and within the first 10 minutes, the fear mongering about Covid started again. Andy’s take on masks is antiquated and misinformed. Typical left-wing narrative on a tech show is highly disappointing. Politics has no place on the show it’s ruined it not to mention Andy is the worst.! Update: to the left leaning listeners who think anyone who complains about the political slant this “tech show” has taken is somehow a trump supporter.. that’s exactly WHY we hate this show now. We just want to hear about tech we don’t want to hear about politics.🤷🏻♂️

Great show beware of trump trolls
Apparently trump supporters got upset because the hosts simply stated what the rest of the nation is observing. That triggered the “you know who’s”. Anyway, this is a great show and I have been listening or watching Leo for two decades I think now.

Alex is super pretentious and Andy is really long winded
I am a longtime listener to the show and I love it. However, I am getting increasingly aggravated with how pretentious Alex Lindsey is. He is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to video but he is starting to come off really elitist. It’s also started to become a long plug for his office hours show.

Not quite stale yet.
Oh goodness. I like the fundamentals of the show. Leo is great at transitioning with his broadcasting chops, and is a true old school. Rene, who is now with YouTube, was super (Apple) knowledgeable and clever. Jason (just replaced Rene) fills Rene’s spot beautifully. Alex is professional and the most Apple fanboy(man) of them all. Andy has interesting(sometimes contrasting) prospectives but seems less informative about Apple. Old people ranting about politics aside, I think this show is suited for an older demo who grew up with radio as their primary entertainment, and enjoy Apple nostalgia (not informative nostalgia, which is useful). I enjoy the show sometimes, and other times not so much.

They complain about no one wearing mask at Apple 2022 keynote.
This liberal clown car is awful. Leo used to be tolerable. Andy is a has been who uses 10k words when 3 are sufficient. Most reviews agree with this.

Used to be good…Can’t anymore
I’m a long listener, but not anymore. Leo and Andy need to keep their politics to themselves. This is or was a tech show! Also, if someone would tell Andy that he doesn’t get paid by the word, making him get to his point quickly; and if Leo would keep his ads to 1-2 minutes instead of a rambling 3-4 minutes the show might get down to a listenable 90 minutes. I done!

Great Show!
Macbreak Weekly has been a staple of my listening for years. I have never put in a review for the show for some reason and now that Jason Snell is on the show I definitely have no excuse. I love the shows opinions and view of all things Apple and the knowledge Jason brings (Rene definitely also had) which really completes the team. Political views aside (I tend to lean with Alex) I really like the views and that Leo keeps the show anchored. Thank you!

Politics and Arguing Ruining this show
I am a longtime listener to this show. However, I am seriously considering dropping it from my queue. Between the constant Andy / Alex bickering (or more properly, Andy taking issue with many things Alex says in a very patronizing way) and the introduction of gender politics into the show, its becoming unlistenable. Believe it or not, not all technophiles share your political predilections. We listen to podcasts to get away from all the political stuff. But you can’t help yourselves. Andy is particularly irksome with his smug Northeast Liberal vibe. Get it together, talk Apple or I’m done. You may not care but I do and I am sorry you, like all the corporations you adore, can’t seem to keep politics out of your products. Edit: You didn’t listen. You think that you can spout all your leftist political views all day long on this podcast. And you’re right: You can. But this longtime listener can also vote with his feet. After 10 years, I am canceling my subscription to this podcast. That saddens me because I enjoyed the show in former times. But not what it has become.

Best Apple Podcast
All the people here complaining about the lack of political balance are the same people who believed January 6 was another day at the office. If you want balance in your politics, then stop acting insane. Anyway, this is my favorite Apple podcast. The panel is well assembled because they represent the left (Andy) right (Alex) and Center (Rene).

Unwatchable, Unlistenable
It is astonishing, given the vast podcasting experience and tech savvy, that a show like this consists of two or three people constantly interrupting and talking over each other. The audio mixing, despite lavish spending on studio equipment, is so annoying that I quit listening. You would think that a host would manage guests and cue participation, but the host is probably the worst of all in interruptions. If you like TV political shows with six people talking at once, you’ll love this one.

Can’t listen anymore
I love Leo, Rene, and even Andy despite his rants, but Alex has become increasing intolerable to the point where I can’t stand listening anymore. I like that everyone pushes back on what he says, but’he’s aggressively smug and contrarian ’ll the time. The others seem to get noticeably annoyed which makes for an uncomfortable listening experience. Unfortunately I have to stop listening to this show until Alex leaves, which bums me out because I'm a huge Leo/TWIT fan. Would love if they replaced Alex with a woman or another Mac expert within TWIT (like Mikah)

Too much Andy
I’ve been listening and watching since I can remember, but not as much lately. When I do there is liberal use of the skip button. Or as I call, “The Andy Button”. He just cannot make his point concisely. Why use 20 words when you cans stretch it out to 500?

Alex Lindsay = Apple Apologist
I’ve been listening to the show for many years but since the reintroduction of Alex Lindsay it’s declined significantly. I enjoy the musings of Andy and Rene, but Alex is insufferable. While the other are capable of balanced discussion Alex is an absolute Apple apologist. Recently I simply click the fast forward button until he’s stopped speaking but now it’s time to unsubscribe. Alex is very knowledgeable on video production, but on other topics he’s a pure Apple fanboy incapable of rational discussion. I’m out.

Went off the rails years ago.
Leo LaPorte used to be the best name in tech shows, be them on the TV, radio, or podcasts. Somewhere along the lines his programs all went off the rails and have become a real train wreck, it’s almost painful to watch. The hosts here are pretty bad: Leo is just bored and driven by stretching out the show so he can fit in one more painfully long, rambling commercial, even if there’s not much to talk about. One co-host (Rene) joked a few episodes back about it was okay they were 25 minutes into the show and hadn’t talked about any news yet because they had to fill in time until the next commercial break. Hey guys, you’re not a TV network, you don’t have to be a certain length. Rene is just the worst kind of Apple fanboy. There’s no Apple product he won’t defend no matter how flawed it is. There’s no Windows or Google product he won’t disrespect. Andy is interesting, but he just goes on and on as if he’s being paid by the word, like the old school newspaper columnist he used to be. He has great points, but jeez, get to them already! Alex. Ugh, Alex. Contrarian one-percenter who has no idea what the rest of us can afford, or need from our products. He’s perfectly fine paying top dollar, which is good, but then he threatens to launch campaigns to boycott cost-saving things for consumers such as having a link in an iPhone app to pay for a subscription outside the App Store ecosystem. Bottom line for me, I listen because there’s not much else there, or just because of habit over the years.

Stop interrupting each other
This is getting so bad with everyone interrupting and acting like it’s only their own option that matters. They are constantly cutting each other off in an attempt to only get their voice heard. It is getting more and more similar to watching or listening to a political debate. I’ve been listening for years but I just can’t continue to listen.

Please re-cast
Both Alex & Andy are very knowledgeable & informative; however, their skill set doesn’t really add much to Macbreak Weekly. While Alex was one of the original hosts the majority of what he currently contributes has very little, if anything, to do with Apple. His knowledge of video production, etc. is second to none. Very impressive. It’s just not suited for Macbreak Weekly. Andy’s contributions fall along the lines of nostalgia & hypothetical situations. I’d recommend him for All About Android as he hasn’t used an iPhone as his daily driver for years.

Apple podcast, don’t like Apple?
Andy seems not to like Apple. He seems like a good guy, but maybe he should be on This Week in Google and not Macbreak Weekly. Not everyone likes Apple, but I think if you are on an Apple specific podcast, you probably should. Also, less about professional cameras and sous vide, please. Lowering my rating to two stars since Andy and Leo have gotten so political. I like Rene and Alex though. Alex is a smart guy who explains things well, and then Andy says “Disagree” with no explanation, because I guess after Alex’s explanations, it would be hard to have a coherent argument against it.

One star for Alex
As difficult as it is to listen to Andy rant for 30 minutes when he could clearly say what he wants in 4 or 5 words, this review is inspired by Alex. Before Alex started his Office Hours he was tolerable at best but now he acts like everything he says is the only way and everyone else is wrong. So following Alex's advice, to give one star until the problem you don't like is resolved, I give this podcast one star while Alex is still allowed on the show. It would be nice to see a revolving cast of Apple enthusiasts like on This Week in Tech so the show stays fresh and engaging. As the show stands now it is predictable and in a word boring.

Lost its way…
I’ve listened to this show for years but it’s now just become a chore to get through an episode. Rene knows his stuff but still too often is an Apple apologist, though far less than Alex could be mistaken for an Apple employee. Andy on the other hand is continuously ranting against Apple and as so many others have pointed out, does not understand the concept of brevity. He may have once been a fan of Apple but that’s no longer true. I don’t expect an Apple love fest but he is now a Google fanboy at heart. Replace Andy and I might try again but there are so many better Apple related options to choose from in the podcast world.

Giving 1 Star to support Alex!
Alex’s points are almost always spot on. It’s maddening that Leo and Andy go off on their arguments against common sense constantly and make the show almost intolerable. A separate point with Andy where he takes 10 minutes to make points with different analogies is also INSANE. Long story short, Leo and Andy think government should solve everything and it’s just not what you want to hear for 30 minutes.

Entertaining yet maddening at Times
Lori Gill left, & it’s a man show now. Andy tells you how to build a watch when you ask him the time, Alex is apparently on his way-too-oft mentioned Office Hours 24 hours a day, Rene is the in-the-know guy who needs a name for his business, & Leo tries to contain this zoo. Lost is basic Apple tech & info for the average Apple user. As basic tech advances slow, these shows are forced into other areas. It works for This Week In Google, but this show is becoming a 2.5 hour weekly challenge.

Love the show
Love the show but as others have mentioned sometimes the hosts can go on way to long to make a point. I think Andy’s argument is always that the price is to high for whatever the product is... Also I wonder if Renee can hear or is he just that insensitive that he starts talking right in the middle of someone else’s point. Many times right in the “middle” of someone’s sentence he will just start talking. Anyway I can put up with the clumsy conversations for now because I love the subject and mostly like the hosts. By the way Andy please take a week sometimes…

No Longer Enjoyable
It’s seems like this show is no longer about Macs even though it is called Macbreak Weekly. It has now become a weekly argument about iOS App Store issues. Uninformative arguing - and it’s getting old. As a former telecom employee, I’m not convinced that any of the hosts really understand monopoly law in the US, so they can’t have a substantive discussion about it. They just entrench to their opinions. Since ostensibly it is supposed to be about Macs, I’d really prefer the content to be about Macs as a computing platform. Windows Weekly is more informative as at least they talk about Windows features, uses, etc - Windows as a computing platform. In Alex’s eyes, Apple can do no wrong, in Andy’s Apple does little right. How about a “Rene Ritchie Weekly” show?

Would be 5 except for political bias and circular debate.
Fantastic discussion-based show about the world of Apple! Thank God for the reasoned debate of Alex Lindsay. Often, the debates are clear and balanced and well-reasoned. Too often, of late, Alex is ganged up on by the other three panelists and the debate goes on too long, repeating the issue in a circular fashion. As a conservative (like 50%+ of the country) I find myself frustrated with the consistently biased liberal arguments. If not for Alex Lindsay, the debate would not be balanced. I appreciate hearing all sides of the issues around Apple products and services. Sometimes, I even adjust my point of view because of this show. Thanks! But beware your bias.

Too much political discussion
I don’t mind the criticism of Apple that is often brought up on the show. I’m not looking for an apple apologist podcast. However I am looking for a technical podcast. The political discussion and flat out left wing political discussions have gotten tiresome. Andy especially thinks he needs to inject his political beliefs into every topic. These discussions do nothing but further divide our country in a time when we should be coming together.

I’ve been an regular subscriber/listener for quite a few years. The current lineup with Alex trying to dominate the conversation with his self proclaimed superior knowledge annoys me to the point that I’m ready to unsubscribe. Andy needs his own show
For the love of god and all that is holy, please give Andy his own 2 hour show. It will reduce the length of this podcast and make it more enjoyable as other guests won’t be constantly cut off by Andy and we won’t have to be taken on a 10 minute scenic route while a point is trying to be made. Edit: not to be outdone, Alex- who was usually fun to listen to has gone all crazy town with his obsession of anything being regulated.

Too long winded
Look at the length of these shows. From a content perspective, these could fit in an hour. But… there’s Andy. Rambles way too long, constantly tries to insert absurd analogies, and seems to be more focused on delivering not-so-well camouflaged politics rather than tech. We get it, you’ve got an issue with Apple. Until you have a point to make, please stop taking airtime away from Alex and his brilliant insights, and Rene with his deep industry knowledge. Rene is as usual fantastic. Andy is long winded but typically makes great points. He certainly seems to have an appreciation for other ecosystems and an acknowledges business realities that motivate apple. Andy
Revisiting Andy on this show, and have come to the obvious conclusion that he does not belong on a show about Apple. He is clearly anti-Apple pro Android/PC, and Alex clearly trumps him left and right on intelligent points regarding Apples's right to conduct business on their platform. Always on the cheap too, he only lets go of a nickel to get a better grip. It's tiresome.

Yea, I get it. Half (35%?) of this country are non-democratic fascist supporting crazy people and you all get to have your freedom of speech as well. But, for the rest of us rational thinking Apple enthusiasts - the show is fun and informative. Leo is good people and not the hater that the *ahem* haters reviewing down below say he is. Stereotypes
For a tech podcast there are too many stereotypes made about white males mostly in a snide or disparaging way. You wouldn’t make comments stereotyping blacks, women or any other race, sex, or ethnic group. And you would cut off guests who did make such comments about these groups. Time to have one standard about appropriate behavior to all groups. You can encourage inclusion of under represented groups in tech without the snark about white males.

The show generally is fun to listen to and informative, and it’s great that the panelists are not Apple partisans. Instead they’re just users with their own loves and beefs with Apple products. That said, it would be really nice if Andy could collect his thoughts before he speaks. He’s become downright unlistenable, and I find myself skipping past his 3-5 minute diatribes. It’s become so bad that I can’t regularly listen to the show anymore.

A New Favorite
Just discovered this podcast. It has become a new “must listen”. Andy and Rene bring great insight and humor to their observations, and make complex technical issues easily understood. Looking forward to much fun listening in 2001.

Informative, but long-winded
The shows cover an amazing breadth of light-hearted, to in-depth news. But mostly its content is directed to the ‘pro-sumer’ or ‘consumer’, with less technical context than other podcasts. Its fun to listen to, and Leo has decades of experience and more podcasts than I can listen to (he must be recording all-day long to get these shows out). This is one I continue to listen to and find fun and informative. Yet, I listen to others for a more technical or design focus.

I can’t take Andy anymore
I can’t take Andy Inhatko anymore - his pretentious view on tech is bad enough but his non stop diatribe about politics and business, as if he is an expert on either, is too much to take. I wish it was more Lori and Renee - and please bring back Alex Lindsay. More Doc Rock and less Andy. Please.

Andy...
I think Andy is a genius, and in that genius he often trips and stumbles over his own thoughts. Due to that, sometimes is very hard to listen to. To compensate whenever he speaks… Which tends to drone on and on. I set the playback speed to 1/2. It sounds like he’s drunk and it is the best thing ever. It makes when he speaks a lot more tolerable. Other than that love Macbreak Weekly been listening for years!

Muzzle Andy
Just listened to iPhone 12 coverage. Can someone muzzle Andy. I had to scrub 3 minutes of audio to avoid Andy speaking gibberish. Everyone else can keep their comments and responses to short and concise statements. I don’t know what’s wrong with Andy, but it’s like his brain has diarrhea and his mouth can’t control the flow.

Love Tech - They show their ignorance with politics
Every time Andy Inhatko is allowed his political screeds and show a his naivety to how “DC works” it a huge distraction and causes me to just abandon the episode. It’s becoming quite annoying. I’m missing Alex Lindsay from the crew because at leader when things trend political he could shut down Andy’s misleading and intellectually dishonest screed by being in a little nuance rather quickly. It’s best that Leo just stick to what they know instead of things they think they know.

Unsubscribed from my last TWiT Podcast
I was a fan of the network from the start and have been watching Leo and the gang from the original Screen Savers days, but all this network is just politics now. I’m not some right wing crack pot mad at their “leftist agenda”, I just want my tech podcasts to be about tech. Further, regardless of political party I am sick of the hosts constantly bashing the United States. I am sad to say it but MBW was the last TWiT podcast I could tolerate and now I have unsubscribed from it as well. Sad to see this once great network deteriorate.

MBW.
I have tuned in for years. But as others have said! Andy has to go or be controlled. I have worn a groove in my scrub bar fast forwarding thru the relentless babbling. Constantly talking over other guest. Most just give up and stay silent. Poor Alex doesn’t stand a chance. Show should be limited to Leo and two guest. Way too much talking over people. Leo has also gotten to a point of interrupting guest way too much. I usually watch on YouTube and just scrub thru Andy. But as others have said. He can go on for several minutes. Maybe Leo can find a job for Andy? Will continue to watch and just keep scrubbing or listen only in a pod cast and use the fast forward button. Shame to have a bionic mouth ruin a great show.

Love/Loved the show... Stop the politics.
I’ve listened for years, I really enjoy the variety or insight from everyone. I hate to say though, that Andy’s injection of political opinion has made it hard to listen for the past couple years. I have noticed the effort to keep it in check more recently, but if it didn’t happen at all that would be great. Getting back to the roots of Apple and Mac would be ideal. Thank you.

Love MBW! But Its time for Andy to Go!
I still listen to the show but Andy drives me crazy... talks way too much to make a simple point. Doesn’t add much to the show. Half the time he’s talking about all the google devices he uses... I’m glad the podcast app has a Thirty second skip. But it’s sad I have to usually push the button 3-5 times to get thru Andy’s drawn out explanations. Other than him they usually have a great panel. Alex and Rene are great and Leo is always fun to listen too. Drop Andy or put him on your google show would be a better fit. 5 Star podcast when he’s not on.

Increasingly Negative! :(
I’ve listened to this show off and on since it started, maybe 10 years. However, I have a fading desire to continue listening, not due to content, but because the host is increasingly negative and clearly anti-Apple. I don’t want him to be a “yes man,” or “fan boy” either, but what is the point of listening to a show about a specific company, when the mostly beats up on it?

Best Apple-based Podcast available
I’ve listened to this show from the beginning. If I only have time for one podcast each week, it’s going to be MacBreak Weekly. I feel like these folks are friends even though we’ve never met in person. Let me make a statement about all the negative comments in these reviews regarding Andy Ihnatko. There has been a coordinated effort to write negative comments about Andy by the extreme Apple fanboys. Andy does not buy into the idea that to discuss Apple products, you have to be using all of Apple’s products. Andy’s big sin: he uses an Android phone. So what? The negative comments about him have become personal and I say, “Shame on you,” to all those who would stoop to ad hominem attacks. Grow up. What MacBreak Weekly delivers is HONEST commentary about Apple products and news. I can recommend no other podcast more highly.

Andy lost his fastball.
Andy’s time has passed. Rene and Alex have the information. Andy, post Chicago Tribune, does not have much to offer compared to Rene and Alex. Leo’s rotation strategy may be a step toward phasing out Andy. Leo cut Dick DeBartolo from the schedule and Dick had much more to offer than Andy does now.

I feel better knowing how everyone feels about Andy. Unfortunately, Andy is not a good reporter on Apple or anymore about it. It had been years since I last listened to MBW, but with Apple’s announcement the Mac was switching to Apple Silicon, I thought it would be a good time to see what the MBW gang had to say. I’ve been listening for years and will probably unsubscribe soon. The host and guests have lately strayed way out of their lane as tech commentators into public health, how to contact trace pandemics and other health concerns that they are relatively uninformed about. The host, Leo Laporte, has been a tech broadcaster for decades. MacBreak Weekly is one of his many podcasts. His panel of guests includes brilliant tech analysts and practitioners. One of my fav’s, but oh that Andy…
This was probably the first podcast I started listening too, back before podcasts were mainstream and I love it…. BUT - Andy has just worn on my last nerve. As others have said, his longwinded metaphors and endless complaining have just gotten to be too much. And how many times can one person say “whereas” - so annoying! I really enjoy the insight of the others guests, especially Alex, he is a pro user and I would love to hear MORE from him. Rene also has a ton of knowledge and is able to get down in the weeds as to how features work, again - MORE! Andy - not so much. One last note to the show - Enough with the complaining about the MacBook Pro keyboard!!!! We get it, you don’t like it. Move on please.

Andy needs to go. I am thinking about inventing a podcast app that has machine learning just to SKIP ANDY’S LONG RAMBLING NONSENSE. I think I’m over this.
MacBreak Weekly has been one of my favorite podcasts for iver 5 years but I think I may have just reached my breaking point. I can handle some ranting or negative options about Apple, but lately it’s been frustrating because more often than not the rants are not based in fact or even logical. Leo (as always) shoots from the hip and often is ranting about rumors that aren’t true. Andy, who used to be a favorite, just can’t get his facts straight about “right to repair” issues and repeatedly gets the facts wrong about Apple’s repair “policies”. If I were in the media and got a bad answer from an Apple Store employee or read an article by another tech journalist that seemed wrong, i’d call one of my contacts at Apple before I started ranting on a podcast.

Good grief!
Update: I just can’t take it anymore. Why do podcasts insist on antagonizing large swaths if their audience by hack political talk on a tech show? Leo really has to keep that ridiculous Andy character on a tighter rein. The show on Nov. 26 was way over the line. Please stop this practice of spouting political beliefs as if everyone naturally agrees with them. A large portion of this country most assuredly does not. How Andy manages to stay on this podcast is mysterious. Why doesn’t he start his own political and Android podcast so I can listen to Apple exclusive talk on this one? Also, I also don’t care to hear about Leo’s car, exotic vacations, or his wife. Advertising is too long winded. Andy is unlistenable. He rambles on for several minutes straight on off-topic inanities. Very pointless and buffoonish. Almost can’t help himself. He is always snickering at his own statements as if they are somehow funny. Leo needs to flush that blowhard from the show. I don’t care about his cooking, his walks, his trips to New York, or his adoration of Android. This is an Apple show. Stop complaining about Apple prices. Alex seems self-centered, only interested when the topic has something to do with video production or high-end hardware. Lately he has been better though. Rene is fine and lends some genuine Apple insight. Please completely squelch the Pokémon talk. You are a grown man. I shut off the podcast when when you start in on your latest Pokémon adventure. Stick to Apple. I would prefer not to unsubscribe, but it is becoming more difficult. My rant is finished and I feel better.

Fast Forward Through Andy
Rene has facts. Alex has experience. Lori has common sense. Andy has gas. With Andy, a subject is not “interesting” or even “very interesting” it’s “very very interesting”, and when he’s feeling eloquent it’s “very very very interesting”. His standard schtick is to make some commonplace observation, then repeat it in a goofy voice as though he is one of the people he’s talking about, then repeat it again, this time prefacing it with “again”. Three times, and still no useful information. Andy huffs and puffs about human rights in China, comic books, and low-income consumers, all without informing us of anything more than his opinion. When he goes on yet another tedious rant about how the butterfly keyboard is a personal insult to himself and threatens to leave the Mac over it, I think “Please do.”

Interesting when new Apple products are introduced
Some guests often have interesting perspectives to offer when new Apple products are introduced. Rene Ritchie is the standout for his keen understanding of Apple and its technologies. Otherwise, I find most other episodes laborious to listen to. The signal to noise ratio can be low. I concur with other comments about the program being better without Andy Ihnatko present. He is often verbose, and his frequent diatribes and focus on non-Apple products make me wonder why he appears on a Macintosh podcast.

Favorite podcast since 2011
Leo has seen it all, Renee provides an optimistic insider’s view and Andy is one smart son of a gun. Between Renee’s connections to the company and Andy’s ability to look at the big picture, there’s a ton of insight here. Having Leo play devil’s advocate keeps everyone in their toes. Shame Alex doesn’t come by more often. Honestly not sure where Lory fits in right now but she’s a nice person with a cool voice. Sometimes Andy takes the scenic route but he’s usually pretty darn funny. No way in hell I’d keep listening if he was replaced. This is the right balance of information, examination and entertainment. Keep up the great work.

Needs broader context & new contributors (and more Alex!)
Hearing thoughts on what Apple is doing nice, but often too much in a vacuum. You don’t have to spend half the show talking about other companies products, but putting Apple in the context of the industry is important to understanding and appreciating Apple. Please do more of that. Andy is too “old school Apple” to be a meaningful contributor any longer. His comments feel very out of touch with the company and industry. Make him a host so he can provide historical context while letting new contributors who are more plugged into the industry of today weigh in. Also, needs more Alex! In addition to being amazing, he is the only contributor that actually works in the “professional creative” industry, so his perspective is amazing contrast to the tech journalist. Also give Alex his own show to just talk about whatever he wants for as long as he wants.

A nice balance...but oh, Andy.
We all know it. Leo has become anti-Apple ever since he’s been banned from the events. Renee is pro-Apple. And there’s nothing wrong with either because it adds a nice balance to the show. The problem therein lies with Andy. Please let him swap out with someone else every other show at minimum. I’ll put it like this. Every other person on the show misses AT LEAST one episode a year because they’re busy. They have commitments. They have meetings. They have crazy schedules, etc. There’s a reason Andy never misses a show. I’ll leave it at that.

Great listen! love Leo, Andy, René and Lori
I have been listening to Mac break weekly for a little over two years and I am very pleased with the information and chemistry between Leo Renee Andy and now Laurie which is a nice addition to the team. My favorite is actually Andy I think he’s very witty very honest which is much needed in today’s world. Leo also is very good at this. although Renee tends to be more apple centric in his views which will cater to a primarily knack friendly audience and I do respect his views I think that the voices of Leo and Andy are much needed in regards to talking about Apple in a more neutral position if cause. Thank you very much for all the work you guys do you put together a great show every week and I can always count on you to keep me up-to-date on all the latest information in an enjoyable manner that is entertaining and informative. it truly helps me out in my day-to-day activities with people that are more tech savvy and it allows me to gracefully have better quality conversations with people because of what I learned from your show.

I get burned out on Rene Ritchie and Andy Ihnatko. Andy rambles on. Rene is a fan boy. Both are careful in what they say as not to get black listed by Apple. Leo is great and isn’t scared to voice his opinion. I’m a huge Apple fan but I like to hear honest opinions, good and bad. I’d like to see some new co-hosts. I think this show needs a refresh. An Essential Podcat
I’d list MacBreak Weekly among the three podcasts I couldn’t do without. I’ve been a subscriber since *almost* day one, the show may’ve been two or three months old when I found it. And to me, Andy Ihnatko is MacBreak and MacBreak is Andy Ihnatko. I love his sense of humor, and his picks are the best, I’ve personally found most of them quite useful. Rene Ritchie and Alex Lindsay are also excellent panelists (Alex’s picks have also been very useful to me), and Leo’s always fun to have around. Don’t change a thing, and please keep going for years and years!

Disagree with top reviews
Many of the top reviews for MacBreak are upset that Andy is long-winded, rambling, and anti-Apple. I appreciate that he doesn’t blindly follow the fandom of Apple and thinks critically. He is one of the few tech journalists I trust and is pro-consumer. Obviously his sidetrack discussions are not on topic, but I for one like that.

Long time listener unsubscribing
I've been a loyal listener of Macbreak Weekly since 2005. The regular panelists are all quite knowledable. Leo's voice and skills as a host are excellent, especially when compared to the amateurish "hosts" of many other podcasts. HOWEVER...for some time now, Leo and Andy have made it abundantly clear that they are having a lovefest with anything Android, Google, or Samsung. OK, fine. Just do it somewhere else. I don't tune in to Macbreak to hear these two fine fellows constantly denigrate Apple and praise the copycat companies that followed in Apple's footsteps. Other negatives: five-minute commercials (good grief), Jim Dalrymple's picks of the week (hard rock albums), Andy constantly rehashing the fact that he doesn't care for Macbook's butterfly keyboards. OK, we get it. Thankfully, there are loads of other podcasts that I'm enjoying more these days. Best wishes, guys. I'm outta here.

Inconsistent
Andy needs to stop trying to make a metaphor for every point he is trying to make that tends to take Qi minutes to spit out. Rene needs to stop defending Apple as if they do no wrong. Leo needs to stop having the rest of the iMore team on the show when Alex is not on. None of the iMore team seems to have much critical thinking skills and just say they agree with the last person that spoke or just change the words of an article to make it sound like it was an idea they had. This podcast is fading further and further back in my listening queue.

A past fan...
I'm a long time fan of the TWiT network, and had been listening to Macbreak Weekly religiously for something like 8-9 years now, but I had to finally give up on it. I wish that the show would rotate the entire panel more often, which would add some variety to a show that has become a bit too static. Leo's presence to me, is always welcome and he's a pretty good moderator, but the regular team of Andy Inhatko and Rene Richie have become somewhat of a drag (Yes, Alex Lindsay is also listed as a host, but he's away from the show enough that his presence isn't as predictable as the others). Andy has taken to indulging far too often into tangents that are grating instead of insightful on the same two topics (usually how much he hates the keyboard on the 2016 macbook pro, and how expensive everything is), and Rene sometimes comes off as such an Apple enthusiast, that I don't seem him as being all that helpful as an evaluator of the company. In any case, I do wish things would change on the show. If they did, I'd start subscribing again.

A Once Great Podcast Slowly Dying
Oh Andy Inhatko. I used to be a major fan but honestly it is time to take him off of this show. He spends most of it talking about anything and everything except for Apple or technology. I don't care about what he is making for dinner or what model Sous Vide machine he has. It takes forever for Andy to make a point and when he gets there he rarely adds anything to the discussion. Often just highlighting the points others have already made with long-winded, rambling examples filled with recycled jokes told by Letterman, SNL and comic strips he consumed in his youth. Since being let go from his long time newspaper gig it is clear he has lost any insider knwoledge and is operating off of the blog posts and tweets of others. He hides his lack of access by claiming he will have definitive reviews of products later which amount to, "I was finally able to add Scrivner to the new model, eight months after everyone else has put their stamp on the analysis of this device. It is OK. Want to hear a long winded story about my search for the perfect candy bar?" I fast forward when he starts talking now. Ritchie is a fanboy plain and simple but he brings insider knowledge and a strong technical understanding of these products. It makes up for his constant comic book references and blind obedience. Alex Lindsay doesn't need to be there most weeks but he is the one person there with a real job actually using these products to complete business-like tasks. He is best used stopping in every few weeks to lay some reality down. Finally you have Leo who does way too many podcasts and whose love for Apple has been waning for years. The latter helps keep the show from being a blind love-fest though sometimes he swings way too far in the opposite direction. Because he does so many technology shows though he often comes across as bored and that makes him prone to easy distraction which endulges Andy's ability to derail the show which in turn takes this off a cliff.

Ok for free
This is an ok podcast with current Apple info. However, like many TWiT shows, it frequently degrades into political potshots and sniveling while Andy Ihnatko and Leo look down their noses at conservatives. Listen to the episodes with Alex Lindsay and put the other ones on low priority for background noise.

Android Ihnatko strikes again.
I came back because Leo tempered his anti Apple rants only to once again leave bacause I can’t stand all the snide aspersions cast by me Ihnatko. He is knowledgeable and would be a great addition to the android podcast. Until he’s gone (and I’m sure you could care less) I’m gone

Best Weekly Mac and iOS Show . . .
Would rate a perfect 5 if it eliminated the rambling rants that 1-2 of the regulars get into complaining about Apple being stupid/greedy/“pro/power user haters”. Rene is the most consistently positive, balanced, and highly informed regular.

Out of Touch
The show has no focus, rambles on for an hour, and drones on about iOS replacing MacOS every show because they have no idea how people use their computers. They don't realize that writing and running applications in C++, Java, Python, Go and other languages has gone mainstream and that iDevices are insufficient for this. They tend to focus on what Macs offer instead of what they should offer, and so on. Occasionally they wil have a good show, but it's a rare event. The podcast might be worthing checkin in on occasionally for a good espisode, but if you need to be selective then skip this one.

To negative
I don’t mind criticism of Apple and their products, but Leo and Andy seem to go out of their way to say everything and anything bad about Apple and products. This podcast seems more of a complaint rant on Apple and their product rather than a constructive critique. I used to listen and tried again but at this time it’s not worth it.

Death by Ennui
ell it’s taken nearly 613 episodes of Macbreak Weekly to get me to stop listening to Netcasts on the Twitter network. MBW is the one show that I would listen to consistently on a weekly basis. As an apple aficionado I came to the show early on to get my Apple news. In the last year The show has drifted from hard news and analysis to pond and tree and opinion. I understand the need to be all inclusive, mixing stories that power users would appreciate as well as consumer level users But there seems to be a slight wiff of elitism in the studio. I consider myself a power user despite the fact that I don’t code, I don’t have developers as friends and I have no contacts in the world of Silicon Valley technology. I’m a working stiff cannot afford to get a brand new Apple device every time one comes out so it is difficult for me to be empathetic to the hosts who seem to bemoan every trivial inconvenience on a device that they would use for year until the next one came out. I would like to see a return to straight up product reviews, tricks, tips and Mac centric conversation. I don’t want to hear about how great the Microsoft surface is that’s for a different show. And if Andy and Leo don’t like the keyboard on the MacBook, let’s not kick that dead horse for two years. Don’t ever lose Renee, he is the one that is bringing balance to the force.

I find the content pretty good. Sometimes they get off topic but I can handle that. What ruins the experience SO MUCH is Leo constantly interupting the other podcasters. It's so rude and unfortunately he does this on the other podcasts as well! I feel bad for the other people.

Is Andy Ihnatko paid by the word? I sometimes find myself yelling "Shut up Andy" when he goes off on one of his 5-minute answers to a simple question. And Jesus, Leo, stop interrupting. Let people finish their answers before you jump back in.

New voices needed
This used to be one of my favorite tech podcasts, but now find it difficult to listen to. One of the hosts rarely has a critical word for Apple, and another monopolizes the conversation with rambling filibusters. There are so many smart voices who cover Apple -- they need to be rotated in to Macbreak Weekly to inject some life into this stale show.

Blathering~ Too much already.
It makes me sad to pack my 'tech info' bag that has faithfully had MACBREAK on it since 2010 and head over to Rene at iMore. I just need the data, info and 'let's get on with it'. Less than an hour. I am very busy & depend on driving time podcasts for update facts & info. Frankly, Andy's rambling, stories and self-centered blathering isn't mildly interesting to me and, after years: I am done. If I wanted to hear anti-Trump nonsense I can watch CNN and MSNBC ABC or NBC. If I wanted anti-Trump nonsense mixed with entertainment I would watch Colbert or Kimmel. MacGripe Weakly
After years of listening I unsubscribed. This has become little more than constant complaining about Apple and Leo constantly shows his Google bias and general lack of current knowledge about tech topics. Rene Ritchie is well informed and frequently corrects Leo's errors. Rene is the best panelist. Alex brings good content to the show when he is on. Andy, who in the past has been a positive influence on me, had degenerated into nearly constant snarkynes and complaining. His obsession with the new keyboards has gotten old after 15 show or so. Leo frequently talks about his money by discussing the new Tesla, trips he is taking, and things he is buying for his children and new wife. Odd for a man that always thinks Apple is greedy. If Apple does something ahead of Google Leo, with no evidence, will say Google will do the same soon. He spouts unsubstantiated opinons about Apple which Rene has to fact check. It's all gotten very repetitive and there is now little information provided. Rene is the one source of new information and I know I can subscribe to his podcasts.

What not to like by Apple Show!
This show has become a show about what not to like about everything Apple, especially when Andy Inhatko is on it or hosting due to Leo's absence. I enjoy the show when Renee Ritchie is on because he provides some positivity on this negative show. Andy always seems so unhappy with Apple that he should not be on the show anymore. I doubt think you have to drink the Apple Kool-Aid but he doesn't have to bash everything Apple all the time!

One of the co-hosts - Andy Ihnatko - might be experienced and qualified, but his style is nerve-wracking. I'm surprised Leo doesn't reign him back. Another TWIT Show Down the Drain
Just can't stand to listen to Ihnatko any more...makes my skin crawl. Like so many of the TWIT shows this goes on in this case because of the blatering of Ihnatko who takes up over half the show. BTW, the Apple podcast ratings are a joke...if you red the recent reviews you knowthis is not a 4 star podcast. I agree with the reviewer that said this show could be 5 star without Ihnatko (and 1 hour maximum). I guess the extra hour that Ihnatko adds lets Leo add another commercial...enough.

Not sure why folks are complaining – except maybe a) they disagree with opinions being expressed by hosts, or b) they expect the show to be straight-up news instead of rollicking commentary. I don't tune in because I expect to agree, or I expect quick-hit news; I've been listening since nearly the beginning, and each episode is like sitting down with old friends to talk about Apple, life, the universe, and everything.

I have listened/watched this podcast for years. I like the little bit of mac news they give and don't mind some of the non sense they talk about. They have now moved into not only political discussion but when they do they act as though it is a forgone conclusion that if you are not a liberal you are an idiot. I don't tune in for their intolerant rants on politics and the last episode was the last straw as once again anyone who doesn't share their political bent is left as the butt of the joke. Too bad.

Leo is cranky old man talking crap because apple doesn't invite him to events anymore. He continues to talk over his guests and has nothing positive to say. Then you have Andy Ihnatko who is cheap as hell. Why have guests talk about apple if they can even afford the product?

I love the Tech portion of the show. That's why we tune in - to learn what's new in tech, what we might look forward to in future products as well as your take and your opinions on the tech in the products that have just come out. If we want political commentary there are endless sources for that all across the various media outlets. Please keep focused on tech. Otherwise, what's the point of your show? Episode 525 is the most recent example. Thank you.

Too negative
When Leo and Andy aren't Apple fans and don't seem to be very enthusiastic or frequent users, they aren't going to have great tips or info for those of us who are. Andy butts in too much and drones on and on. I always turn it off when he carries on about the price of products. What's it to him? People obviously buy them!! I always enjoy the guests who actually use Apple products. Even if they have a beef with Apple, it's usually coming from a place of "how can they improve this?" instead of "that's why I use a different brand!"

A Tightly Sealed Echo Chamber
MBW has been consistently one of my favorite podcasts for the past decade, but it has become insufferable. It has quite literally become a room full of quasi-SJW tech journalists parroting back to each other how they are all so correct in whatever assumptions they make. I've heard less circular reasoning from religous fanatics.

Alright let's play the MacBreak Weekly drinking game, everytime Alex says "I think", "you know" or "I mean" drink. You will be dead by the time Leo gives you the Squarespace offer code. Not What It Used to Be
After 10 years of listening to MacBreak Weekly, I’ve decided to move on. Today’s episode, “Salty, Salty Funk” (06/21/2016), is the perfect example why. It was the first episode in a really LONG TIME that I actually enjoyed listening to! I forgot how good it could be. Was it because WWDC just happened and they now have a lot of Apple news to talk about? No because last week’s episode was the first after WWDC and I didn’t enjoy it. So what could it be then? Hmm? Oh yeah. Leo Laporte wasn’t hosting today’s episode. In the past, I used to hate when he wasn’t on the show. After today, I’ve realized that he’s the reason I don’t like the show anymore. It was like night and day! He’s gotten to be so negative about Apple and inappropriately off-topic that I just can’t stand listening to his voice anymore. So much so that I couldn’t even stand to listen to his pre-taped ads during the show. I had to fast forward through them. He really needs to realize that he is bringing down a lot of his shows with his negativity and his inappropriate antics. He needs to remove himself from this show, find a new host that actually likes Apple and isn’t faking it, stay on topic, cut the show down to an hour when it’s a slow Apple news day and have actual Apple-related picks of the week. As long as Leo Laporte continues to host this show, I won’t be listening/watching. If you want to listen to some good Apple-centric podcasts, may I suggest Rene Ritchie’s own “iMore Show” and “Apple Talk.” Another good one is Cult of Mac’s “The CultCast.” They cover a lot of the same news MBW does except the hosts don’t go out of their way to trash talk Apple and they know how to stay on-topic.

Has Lost Relevance
This used to be one of my favorite podcasts that I would listen to every week as soon as I could after it became available. Of late I have mostly found myself not listening to it and just marking it as played and checking in only once in a while. What I'm finding is a one and a half to two hour podcast filled with nothing of interest, very little insight and analysis and two regular hosts that seemingly have nothing constructive or worthwhile to contribute to the discussion. Leo's negativity around Apple and Andy's google fanaticism makes me wonder why this show continues. I'm all for having a panel with balanced viewpoints but this Leo's and Andy's schtick has grown stale. I also feel like Rene has to over-compensate his positive outlook to try and offset Andy and Leo's posiition and becuase of this comes off sounding like a fanboi, giving further fuel to Andy and Leo's snipes. Time to move on and unsubscribe?

Andy & Leo should just go
I'm not sure why Andy and Leo continue to do this podcast! The never have anything positive to contibute to it. The podcast would be better served if they just moved to a Google centric one. Since that is the only thing the seem to talk about on this show anyway. If you want to listen better Apple podcasts, then check out iMore's podcast. Apple needs to seriously take a look at their releationship with Andy and reconsider if it's a positive one.

Leo is such a great host that when he’s not there, the drop is noticeable. But Andy and Rene are fantastic guests. Needs a rethink
Despite being a keen listen for a long time, I’m beginning to lose interest. It is notable that recent reviews have been less enthusiastic than earlier ones. Each of the recurring commentators has a valuable contribution to make however the whole seems to be less than the sum of the parts. Andy Ihnatko has excellent insights but gets lost in convoluted sentences. Rene Richie has more Apple knowledge than anyone anywhere but almost always is stepped on (aurally) by Leo or Andy. Alex Lindsay uses the technology to make his living and knows what does and doesn’t work but for those of us who do not spend our time with cameras and sound recording much of it is too arcane. New guests, and tighter oversight by Leo, would help.

I used to look forward to every episode of MacBreak Weekly. Unfortunately I now find it entirely irrelevant. I have been a loyal listener for years. I enjoyed the sane, informed exchange of views… But now Leo has gone full FOX on us. In the last episode he was ignorantly trolling a hugely uninformed negative opinion, and was unmoved by his generous guests attempting to lend broader and more balanced views. It was insulting. Like when Andy does his barging around pontificating without respecting other’s views. I expect this from FOX and talk radio, and have turned them off. Now it may be time to drop MacBreakWeekly. Too bad. But I cannot recommend this show anymore. As soon as it values shock and trolling over considered and informed views, it goes in the trash.

It might be time for a host that actually likes Apple products.
I have been a long time fan of Leo and ALL of his podcasts for more than a decade. I really love the regulars on the show, very witty. But MacBreak used to be a place where Apple fans would go for the latest news and rumors about Apple. Unfortunately, Leo no longer really likes any of the Apple products and spends most of the time criticizing every little aspect of every Apple product. When his guests try to explain what they like about a particular product, Leo kinda talks over them and pushes his negative opinion. I respect Leo’s opinion but after a while you have to wonder if the show would be better served by having a host that actually uses and enjoys Apple products and services. Thank you Leo for MANY years of entertainment. I will be definitely listening to you on your other podcast and I will check in here from time to time to see if the negative tone about everything Apple has changed. Dan

Love the subject matter
I like the podcast, mainly because I like the subject matter. They lose 1 star for constantly talking over each other (mainly lead be Leo.) They lose another star for sometimes rehashing stuff I've heard on other podcasts; which would be fine if they didn't get the details wrong and sound like they're one tiny step above the people on CNBC in terms of subject knowledge. The gold standard, if you like the topics discussed on this podcast, is Accidental Tech Podcast (ATP.) I highly recommend it to anyone interested in Apple, and in tech in general.

Not what it once was
I listened to MBW from the first episodes all those years ago. Fact is, Apple is one of those companies that has a flourish of new releases in a week or two, and then complete silence for weeks/months while they cook up their next round of products. Leo and Co. commit to a weekly podcast that probably should be alternating weeks because there's not enough material to discuss unless you comment on rumors and blog posts. I listen to Marco, Casey and John on ATP these days, because at least they're developers in the thick of it. Leo more and more is like my retired dad, buys anything he sees with the idea to review it, but wait, another ad break!

Time to Move On
I have been a long time listener and have seen the content of the show diminish to the point that Leo has turned this into an Apple bashing show. It is one thing to report things in an unbiased manner, but this has turned into a Leo rant about things he doesn't like about Apple. Considering that the audience is composed of Apple enthusiasts, I am not sure how that is relevant. The whole show is way too long with too many commercials and not enough pertinent information. It would be nice not to have to listen to Leo, who worships at the altar of Larry and Serge. Come on, Leo. Your anti-Apple rants are getting tired.

Anti- Apple, needs a new host
Leo has become bitter against Apple and it's fans. He even called us iSheep on one of his recent TwiT podcast. He needs to get over himself, Apple don't hate him, they don't even know him. I can no longer listen to his podcast.

Move along….there’s nothing to see here.
Does Leo Laporte even like Apple products any more? Leo does not even consider that people subscribing to “MacBreak Weekly” are very likely apple users/enthusiasts. Took a 35 minute walk today while listening to last week’s podcast. Besides the fact that much time was wasted on videos which many of us can’t see there was precious little apple news. ….”Do you think they might bring out a new Apple TV”? That was all the apple news I heard during my walk. Leo, you are not so funny that you should feel you have to interrupt your co-hosts attempts to give us something to listen to and learn. Don’t waste your time on this podcast.

11 min to even start
The show might be best summarized by this weeks episode. At 11:33 into the show Leo announces "hello and welcome to macbreak weekly, we will now get on to actual mac news" I agree with all the complaints. . They are professionals in the technology industry that's more than enough for me. Stop with the attempts at humor. Stop with the banter and social commentary. They could cut down this show to 15 or 20 min and have something informative and relevant as they obviously have a lot to share.

Highly biased show
This show is not helping people at all, they are a channel for them to attack Apple in every way. Their biased opinion often admiring company like Samsung and Google in the show. It around only 30% of time talking stuff related barely to Mac or iOS, every thing Apple did was bad by what they’d suggested. And the rest of the show just pushing people to buy junk from Samsung and Google. Wondering how much money they get from Samsung / Google for bad mouthing Apple? Their show are awful and totally wasted of time. Unsubcribed already!

Too rambling
The following review applies to many of the TWIT network that Leo is on. He's almost self-destructing. Shorter and more to the point of current Mac news, how to's, and app reviews would be better. Andy Inahko and the others are good too; Leo seems to mostly gripe. Leo would say, "if you don't like it, don't listen". So, I listen for about 15 minutes.

Rene Ritchie - Apple Apologist
Over the years I’ve always enjoyed MBW despite its lack of content because it’s just a fun show to listen to…. And then they added Rene Ritchie. This is a show that leans more on entertaining tech banter than actual “facts”, but with Rene Ritchie then every single time Apple is portrayed in anything but a golden glow then you hear his voice rushing in to defend them. It’s the pitiful fanboy behavior you see on message boards, but now in audio form. And that has completely destroyed this show. Hopefully some day Leo boots him off the show in favor of someone who is more a user than an apologist. But until then, cut off the high frequency bands on your EQ so you can muffle him down a bit because NOTHING he says is factual or worthwhile.

Mac??? Break Weekly? Really?
If you are curious about why Google is killing Apple, why the Samsung Galaxy S3 is leagues ahead of the poor iPhone 5; if you think Google Glass is the greatest thing since sliced bread, but Apple's defense of its intellectual property is absolutely indefensible, then this is the podcast for you. If you're actually interested in informed Apple news, move on.

5 years of listening, so I must love it
I've been listening to MacBreak Weekly for about 5 years. The cast has changed somewhat year to year, but remains anchored by Leo LaPorte's convivial personality. It's at its best when there's big news: the launch of a new OS X or the introduction of a new iPad product line. But even during the dog days of Summer when there's just stale rumors to rehash, the panel has a good time chewing the Apple fat. If you're a tech geek with a particular bent towards Apple's products, this podcast continues to be a must-listen.

If you need to keep up with all the places Alex Lindsay is travelling to, where he's been and where he's going, this is the podcast. I love hearing how professional he is, and how he needs lots of professional gear, that you nor me can probably afford. The Rise and Fall of MBW
I listened to and enjoyed MBW for many years, but no longer. They seem to have forgotten their audience, and sound stale and negative. The addition of Rene Ritchie to the panel was excellent, but he doesn't counterbalance Leo's constant negative drumbeat, and Andy's role as the grumpy, Apple bashing curmudgeon. Too bad, because I really used to love this show. I'll miss Alex … (Sigh).

MBW has degenerated to Anti-Apple griping.
Macbreak Weekly and the TWiT network were some of the podcasts that first prompted me to acquire my first iPod many years ago now. The show used to be thoughtful, witty and a great source of Macintosh and Apple information. It always had a lot of useful criticism of Apple whenever it might have gotten things wrong, but always with the patient understanding that those errors would be corrected -- the criticism seemed to always be given in a tone of speaking the truth in love; love for Apple in this case. The signal to noise ratio was still good in those days. Oh, how things have changed. In recent years the conversation seems to stray far afield to give glowing praise to Apple's competitors and to talk long and favorably about these competitor's products -- while castigating Apple for not doing things as these new favorites have chosen. Now of days, it seems Lea and Andy and some of the commentators have nothing good to say about Apple and so they focus their attention on any product not from Apple. This is NOT constructive criticism at all. There is no balance, even for a would-be Mac-centric show. Leo has been apostate for some time now, but the other show regulars seemed to help reign him back in. Andy has gone completely off the deep end, and seems to be in denial about it. Rene is okay, but I find that I miss Merlin Mann and Scott Bourne and the more regular appearance of Alex Lindsey. At the rate the show is degenerating it won't be long now before Leo is inviting Dan Lyans or Henry Blodget to the table. It has been sad to see this show's slow, ugly demise.

So long "Mac" Break Weekly
I entered the Apple world thru the mp3 player. Than came the iphone, which made me hungry for more Apple news (good & bad). Than I discovered podcasting & MacBreak Weekly!!! Which guided me to my 1st Mac Book Pro. And I have been a loyal supporter until now. Leo "passive aggressive" attitude toward Apple is waning on me. And Andy, the voice of reason, is now on the band wagon. So long "Mac" Break Weekly, I am very grateful for the good times. Maybe some day I will return.... If the podcast is still in business.

It's just shootin' the breeze about apple. But they shoot the breeze pretty well. I've also gotten some good software from their pick of the week suggestions. I do think it is way TOO LONG. Needs a fresh coat of paint
The show has really lost its way recently. This is a two-star show with Rene Ritchie adding an entire extra star all by his lonesome. Show prep seems to be nonexistent - topics are simply skimmed from the various Mac rumor sites and most are of little actual interest. The personalities are likable, but are wearing thin. Andy Inhatko is an interesting character, but he needs to listen to himself on the podcast - his role these days seems to be inventing outlandish worst-case scenarios for Apple or repeating the same packaged speeches about people who approach him for advice in selecting (insert device type here). Alex Lindsay is Alex Lindsay - half the time he's interesting, half the time I don't know what he's talking about. He actually used the hardware in some demanding ways and his know-how on that sort of thing is interesting. Rene Richards is almost worth an extra star all by himself - he knows his stuff cold and I almost wish he'd throw the penalty flag more often when one of the others goes off the rails. The more he talks, the better the episode. Really a great addition to the show. Leo's a good host, but this show is getting away from him a bit. Yes, the ads are long. No, I don't care what kind of Ford he's getting. But…the ads pay the bills and that's perfectly acceptable. My problem is that he's the host and responsible, I assume, for show prep….and there seems to be none. The flimsy rumors, patent talk, etc., are just thin gruel for a listener. There is precious little actual news. (You could, however, have a drinking game using the phrase "I really love my Samsung…"). They need to make some changes - more thoughtful show prep, less reliance on half-baked rumor headlines and perhaps a change in the show roster. There's not a lot in it for Apple users right now.

Broken
This used to be a great podcast, but it's gone downhill in a big way. Leo: we get it. You don't get invited to Apple events anymore. WE KNOW. Because you can't stop bringing it up over and over and over. It's time to get the chip off your shoulder or leave the hosting duties to someone who actually still enjoys using Apple products. Sadly, Andy Ihnatko (who used to be my favorite part of the show) seems to have been afflicted with the same condition as Leo. For the last several months, Andy's tone has gotten more and more negative. I'm not sure what's responsible for his increasingly sour attitude, but I wish he'd take the Debbie Downer act somewhere else. Look, I don't want a rah-rah Apple cheerleading session every week, but the balance has shifted too far in the other direction. With the rampant concern-trolling, ridiculously entitled attitudes, and general passive-aggressive nonsense, the show just isn't fun to listen to anymore.

Great show: witty, insightful and interesting
This is a fun show to listen to on the path train into work. I don't get to watch tv anymore (first time dad) and you don't get the serendipity that you get in a panel discussion in written journalism. The show is balanced with professionally oriented reporting and softened with personal experiences and witty humor. The ads as mentioned by other reviewers aren't out of control like the online tv networks and are relevant, if not always to me but many people I know who want a simple product or an easy service to which the twit sponsors represent. If you hate ads, buy a subscription.

I like the show, but ...
I really like listening to this show, but I do not like is the constant advertisements that come on every ten or fifteen minutes. It's bad enough the we have endure commercials on television and movie theaters, but on the internet? Most of the advertisers that the show uses are ones I will never use in my life. For example, I do not have a need to use Go To Meeting or Ford vehicles. I wish this podcast did not have these stupid advertisements on their show because I find them boring and useless. I usually try to speed up the podcast to by pass these advertisements. It may be better to have a pay podcast instead of using advertisements.

I look forward to this podcast every week but while I realize ads are needed to support the show, the Audible ads are WAY too long. They've turned into infomercials within the podcast. Luckily they always come towards the end of the show so I generally quit listening at that point.

Please less complaining...
I'm changing my review from five stars to two stars. I think Leo shouldn't do this show anymore, or just complain less. I really love TWIT, but Leo has been so negative lately. The "Lost Again" episode was kind of depressing. So much negative energy and he's just talking about a smartphone. Anytime someone says something positive, he downplays it with harsh criticism. And he just can't stop complaining. I value Leo's opinion, but he has been really excessive lately. I love the show, but I just can't listen to it as it is now. I'll unsubscribe and try listening to it again next month. Maybe things will have cooled down a bit. I think Leo should take a bunch of iPhones and Steve Job dolls and drive over them until he gets it out of his system.

An Apple show with a host who hates Apple

Way downhill
I used to love MacBreak Weekly, along with most of the other TWiT podcasts, but those days are gone. Ads are necessary when you build a studio you can't quite afford, but the amount seems to continue to increase. Ad reads feel condescending at times, and hearing the same ads over and over week after week with a new coat of paint wears thin. Leo has taken to being more of a Google fanboy as time goes by, in recent episodes I remember him saying the iPhone 5 would be a failure because of his awesome Samsung phone, but he's saying these things to the wrong audience. Time for new hosting across the board, maybe Sarah Lane here and Tom Merritt on TWiT itself.

Mac Bashing
Used to love this show WHEN it provided useful information about Mac/Apple, and yes threw in a little apple love. It has now devolved into the MacBash Weekly. Leo cannot say, or allow anyone to say anything complimentary about Apple without throwing in a caveat. I had 6 past episodes, i listened to them in less than an hour, because I kept on scrolling ahead in search of useful information, that now seems to be confined to the Picks of the Week.

It's just a rehash of MacRumors
Have to say that over the last year this show is just rehashing MacRumors and TUAW with no real insight. No real journalism, they often get their facts wrong. A happy Maccident
Been a Machead for years, and only very recently discovered this podcast. Despite some of the reviews i just read here, I enjoy the Host in fact, and I appreciate the different topical tangents they incorporate, along with and including the Instagram segue, but always roundly assimilate them with regard to Apple and into the overall grand Mac scheme. I've been devouring as many of the previous shows as i can for the past week and I am consistently impressed, intrigued, and soundly entertained with all of them thus far. Stumbling onto this podcast, for me, wholeheartedly compliments and amends my insatiable appetite for all things Mac.

Fed up after five years
I've been listening to MBW since episode 20. The show used to be insightful, and at times hilarious. Listening to Scott's bickering, Merlin's rambling jokes, and Andy's ratholes used to be an enjoyable part of my week. Then Merlin and Scott stopped appearing regularly, and the show became more focused. Instead of being about the "cult of Mac," now it was just about the massive tech story that was Apple, as they made their epic rise to the top and launched revolutionary products. I stuck around out of interest for the company, and for what was happening with Apple. But since the switch to the new studio, while most shows have benefitted from the switch, MacBreak Weekly seems to have been left behind. Instead of being about Apple, the show has become Apple pundits lazily discussing the headlines, whether or not they are Apple-related. For me the final straw was episode 294, where Leo & co. discuss Facebook's Instagram acquisition for the first 40 minutes without even bothering to tie it in to Apple. Why does a show called MacBreak Weekly even consider this topic in their territory? Maybe the decision to broaden the show comes from an advertiser perspective. But numbers are not everything. The audience will not stay if the hosts don't get back to what made this show great, or even what made it good. It doesn't have to be a return to ratholes, but it's incredibly evident that no effort is even being made to select topics that Mac users might care about, or expect to hear when they're tuning into a show called MacBreak Weekly. Sure, they can cover the iOS stuff -- obviously that's a big part of it, but it's not everything, either. Bring back the topics which would get into depth about Mac OS, especially with the Mac OS user base bigger than ever. Have they even discussed Mountain Lion since the show after the initial announcement? I can't recall it if they did. From reading other reviews, I realize I'm not alone in my views. It pains me that nothing is being done about it. I miss what MacBreak Weekly used to be, and soon I'll be giving up on it if the trend continues. Please bring this show back from its neglected and dilapidated state, and craft the show that Mac users deserve.

CAN'T TAKE LEO ANYMORE
That's it, I'm done. Leo is too obnoxious. He thinks the entire podcast revolves around his lukewarm opinions of new Apple products, his childish and unfunny voices, his lame jokes, his interrupting the guests, his stories about coffee and sandwiches, his dog, his new shirt, his barber, his hair, etc etc etc. It's become a joke. Good with the right group
I'm in agreement with most people. It's a very solid show when Leo is host and you get Ihntako's insight. Alex doesn't bring much to the table. It's better when Jason Snell, Don McCallister or Adam Engst are on. These people bring real insight to the show, which is what it should be about. His volume constantly trails off at the end of sentences. Lindsay also has an intermittent grainy quality to his voice that is sickening to listen to. The podcast gets five stars on the episodes when Alex Lindsay is not there.

Criticism of Apple continues to grow as Leo Laporte goes Google.
I listen to this podcast because I want to hear about the positives of Apple and their successes over the years. Leo needs to step down from this podcast because he is growing very bitter against Apple as his Google love affair increases. Thats all good to love Google stuff, that's what TWiG is for. Leo is the sour one that drags this show down. I need to find a real Mac centric video podcast. It's sad.

Consistently the best
I love Leo's friendly familiarity, ease in front of the audience and comfort with all ages and tech levels of his audience. I learn much from Leo et al. Thanks, Leo, for educating, entertaining and sharing your opinions.

Getting kinda pointless
Not to knock Leo too much…but you know, the other day, I realized he's kinda the Mike Douglas of this age. That's a reference that will fly over the heads of younger readers and for that I apologize. I think the pointless bragging by Alex "of course, I really need powerful hardware" Lindsay and the yuck-it-up from Leo has really gotten to the point where the show is getting a bit too predictable. Happily, the 5x5 network is picking up the slack with Hypercritical and Talk Show and some others that actually make you think a bit and that's good. If you just want banter, inside jokes and need to stay up-to-date on what Alex is bragging about this week, well ignore my griping and enjoy the show.

Haters be gone!
I love twit and have been watching Leo for so long that I can't remember when it started but, he is a windows fanboy and always will be. The Mac/apple shows would be better hosted by someone less bitter about having his hand slapped publicly by Steve Jobs. In fact, let Sara host both this and iPad today. If not, maybe Leo will be less bitter when/if he gets help with his substance use problem. My fingers are crossed.

Rat holes are awesome
I'm a MAC enthusiast for sure. I am seeing ppl complain about the hosts going off topic. I love it! We as ppl are not one sided thinkers. We don't just think about one thing for an hour. The "rat "holes" are always entertaining and interesting, almost always end up somewhere you did not expect to be but then someone brings it to topic. I love stream of conscience talk, and love the podcast! Keep it going! The news is always relevant and as MAC grows in popularity the rumors are gonna be hard to follow but they always say it's a rumor and we are reporting it. Stop being so closed off to conversation. Enjoy.

Andy has to go!
I love the show with the exception of the ever annoying, irrelevant, and always driveling Andy Ihnatko. Can any man mumble one's way through more pointless expulsion of oxygen than this guy? The pain is evident in Leo's half-hearted chuckles punctuating Andy's superfluous stories about taking the train to visit his dad, finding his lost lens cap, and everything else Andy drones on endlessly about that has nothing to do with Macs. Dump Andy already. I'd like to see Brushwood kidnap him and shave those annoying chops off.

A review that morphs into an open letter to Leo
Up front, I love the TWiT network and Leo and subscribe to and listen to every episode of MBW, TNT, TWiT, and TWiG. That said, I'm struggling with MacBreak Weekly. Ihnatko is great. He is no host and the episodes where he's tried to host haven't work, but is freaking brilliant as a regular on the show and the few recent shows where he picked the guests have been the best lately. Lindsey? Hmmm. Not sure if I can take much more. Very attuned to his particular needs and seems utterly unable to see things from the general user's point of view. As a host his constant interruption has just about run me off. Leo. A brilliant host. Unlike some other reviewers, I don't mind the banter or the off topic stuff so much, and if Leo is hosting, Alex is much more tolerable, though still not great. It seems lately, though, that Leo isn't really interested in this show. As noted above, the only recent shows with good guests have been when Ihnatko set up the guest list. And Leo's palpable disdain for Apple is really starting to show (which is weird, since he uses Macs). I'm not sure exactly why other companies seem to get the benefit of the doubt with Leo and he always questions Apple's motives, but it's a bit frustrating. At first I thought it was kind of like the Little League coach who is always harder on his own kid so no one can claim bias, but lately I'm not so sure. I've also stopped listening to the iPad today show because Leo's hosting there seems so disingenuous. If he says one more time how he has no use for his iPad and how evil iOS is, I'm not going to able to take it anymore. So, suggestions. Leo, I am a huge fan and I think part of what makes you so great (in addition to straight up media talent) is your love of what you're doing. I wish you'd step back and really think about this show and Apple for a minute. I think you've lost your joy for this show, and if you can't find a way to rekindle it, I wish you'd just rebuild the show with folks who can find that joy. Who is that? Well, Andy for sure, but not as host. Also, a regularly rotating guest roster with folks like either Engst, John Gruber, perhaps some devs like Justin Williams, maybe Cabel Sasser or Steven Frank, maybe Ken Case or someone else from Omni. Heck, just turn over guest booking to Andy and he'll get it done. Just don't put these folks on with Alex hosting or you'll run them off the way Scott Bourne ran Merlin Mann off. But who can host. Well, dang it, Dan Benjamin's busy so there's no one else who makes anywhere near as much sense as….Leo Laporte. FInd your joy, man. We love you. For now, I'm still listening, and I freaking love TWiG and TWiT is as good as it guests (more gravitas, less perky please) and Tom and Sara have really got something special going with TNT. I'm loving your new studio and I just want the best–my commute depends on it.

Andy
The show often revolves around Andy Ihnatko's observations and insider access. While Andy's comedic timing could be better, he redeems himself by being a literate and knowledgeable Apple geek. He appears always up to speed. When there is disagreement, Andy usually has very astute and incisive reasons about his opinion. Leo's database of knowledge is enormous. His sonorous voice and easy-going on-air demeanor is enjoyable. However, he does get full of himself from time-to-time. However, I mostly remember this happening on other programs. They could be more critical of Apple.

Cannot wait for a new episode, but....
I wait eagerly for a new macbreak every week, but lately, the endless ramblings of Alex Lindsay detracts from what used to be a great show. I suppose having taken Alex on as a partner in the brick house, Leo is trapped and has to have him on. If this is the case, can Leo and Andy relegate Alex to the role of a quiet observer and only speak when he has a photo or video pick? Alex initially endorsed Final Cut X and then defended Apple, when the program was less than optimal, so much so that Apple was shamed into returning the money to some of its customers!! Can we get Merlin Mann, Andy and Adam Curry to do the show with Tom Merritt as the host one week, please? This might get some of your loyal subscribers back and keep the remaining ones like me!!

MacBreak....waste of time
I listen to podcasts when I cycle. I downloaded podcast 256 to try MacBreak one more time. It was suppose to be a review of Mac's new operating system "Lion". After listening for a little over an hour I had to turn it off. In short, all the host wanted to do is hear his own voice and his guests only want to talk about their own wants and needs from Apple. If I were a "wantabe" journalist, as they all claim to be, perhaps I would have gotten something out of their ramblings. The podcast touched on only a couple of items concerning Lion.....so don't waste you time unless you are a "wantabe" journalist. Oh yes, they wasted about 20 minutes trying to get some guy in Europe to join them and all we got was 20 minutes of "the boys" joking around. Podcast 256 is more like listening to 4 guys, half drunk, in a bar talking about nothing but all wanting to say something that only they understood. Leo you need to either reformat MacBreak or take it off the air. It is a waste of my time. See Ya!!! Oh yes, one last thing and this is for your advertisers....See Ya!! KingCoveAK

Why keep loser guests?
Why is Alex Lindsay on every week? Even if he has a vaguely interesting video-editing idea once in 2 months, it doesn't justify his presence. He is dull and has nothing to better the conversation. When he hosts, it goes straight in the trash.

Another sad soul missing the old days
I'll join the chorus of folks who think that Alex's influence is dragging this show down. Like others, I skipped the episodes he hosted, and I'm often annoyed when he gets to talking for more than a couple of minutes. Most of the "jokes" he makes are far from funny, unlike Mr Ihnatko, who's freaking hilarious. Andy's self-professed ADD appears to be getting worse by the month, and in my opinion it's becuase of his stance that "uni-tasking is dumb". Alex! Dude! You can barely keep a train of thought or complete a sentence without fifteen "um"s anymore - has it occurred to you that maybe all that multitasking is a bad idea? Just glad I don't have to teach his digitally-nursed children!

Once good podcast has become a haphazard affair
To some extent I'm reluctant to criticize a free podcast, I partly think that if I don't like it, I should just not listen to it anymore. I've sort of felt this way for a while but have always kept MacBreak Weekly a subscription in iTunes in the hopes that it would improve. Now that I am finally going to stop the subscription, I might as well mention why. First, this podcast used to be fairly good. However, for months now, it has just been a complete mess, everyone is all over the place and half the time Leo doesn't really seem to have any particular Mac related news that he wants to speak about. Instead, we get to hear poorly put together political talk, banter about family, odd notes about books and things often completely unrelated to the mac world. If I could offer a suggestion it would be this: You have the makings of a good podcast and clearly people like your personality and want you to succeed. However, you rely to much on personality and not enough on good preperation and (at least a some what) structured discussion. It might sound fun to participate in a free for all where you can just ramble and talk about anything that comes to mind, but it's not quite as enjoyable to those of us that are actually listening to it. This podcast suffers from: *A relative lack of organization and structure *Way to much political talk (it's sort of the blind leading the blind).

Let me be the nth person to voice a complaint about Alex. Hearing his asides about Africa and his kid and his poor music taste and this and that just gets in the way of content. Unsubscribing to This Week in Alex Lindsay
This has become more and more of a typical fanboy lovefest and in typical fashion Alex has his blinders on. Apple can do no wrong in any case in his eyes, and he obviously feels his opinion is much more important than anyone elses. "This is how I ...","I use...", I, I, I .....Just can't take more of his holier than thou, ivory tower attitude. He totally loses any credibility because he refuses to acknowledge other company's good technology and insists that only Apple makes anything good. I like Apple as much as anyone, but point out what they're doing wrong so they can improve. Apple gets away with yelling at its users and saying you're holding it wrong because of people like Alex.

Not So Good Anymore
I used to like this show much more. Lately, the first 15-20 minutes of the show seems to be a boasting ground for how great the Twit network is doing and little to do with actual Apple news. It's been losing my interest steadily over the last six months and I just recently unsubscribed. I may check it out again at a later time, hoping that it has returned to it roots as a Apple central news show but for now I really heard enough about how much Alex Lindsay spends on Apple products just because he can. Here's hoping the show will once again be one that delivers great content some time in the future.

Ugh
I use to enjoy this show, but not so much anymore. My enjoyment definitely improved after Scott Bourne left, but this was short lived. Leo should probably consider reprogramming this show -- manning up and cutting loose his friend Alex would be a good start. Andy is awesome, but this show needs a fresh voice in addition. Is there someone else out there (who isn't already on three other TWiT shows) that they can grab?

Not what it used to be
I've been listening weekly since the iPhone was announced, and it used to be good, and it has the potential to be a good podcast again if that elitist arrogant Alex Lindsey would just stop talking. I find it hard to believe that anyone really cares how many Mac's he buys, and how much he spends with Apple, but for some reason he finds it necessary to tell the world every week. General Mac news shouldn't just be about $5000 apps that the general public are never going to use, it should be about what the general public cares about, and unfortunately Alex, that would leave you out of the conversation, so please, for the sake of Leo's audience, please stop talking. What happened to Merlin Mann?

I want an Ihnatko-only version!
Update March 2011: Stopped listening because there is very little of value anymore (Andy still makes occaisional insightful observations, but sitting through the other guys' repetitive repetitive repetitive chatter chatter chatter and "jokes" is too much to bear.) Plus holy jeebus the advertisements go on forever! Check out a 5by5 podcast to hear ads done right (brief, and in-and-out with no hemming and hawing). I just read Ihnatko's blog/Sun-Times articles now. MUCH more efficient.
