The Best Tips and Tricks for Mac and iOS!
No one person can know all of the in’s-and-out’s of every Apple product, but when you have three passionate experts; you always learn something new. As an Apple IT professional, I find their show timely and invaluable to my business. I highly recommend every Apple product owner listen to Mac Geek Gab.

Great Podcast
The first Apple oriented podcast that I started listening to in 2008 when I got my first Mac. Lots of great information and a sense of humor to boot.

Cringe
In the 9/7/2022 episode, the way John said “ladies” multiple times is so cringy and sexist (not to mention saying certain products are for men). John has his moments, but wow this is way over the line and inappropriate. That should have been edited out and never should have been in a released episode.

First time listener
Good morning gentlemen, first time listening to Your show and I want to say it’s now part of my rotation! Heard about you from the Jordan Harbinger show. I could not find a way to write the show from the podcast, there was no way or link or email address. Hopefully this finds you for the next episode. I’ve and having an issue with my TV, maybe not a Mac problem well it’s not, but maybe somebody has a solution since I have searched all over the place and could not find one. My wife and I have sling TV as one of our apps on a smart TV. Every time we turn on the TV it immediately goes to sling, and when we exit out of sling to try to go to a different app it always reboots sling and it’s very frustrating, any tips? Thanks guys excited for the next episode and will be binging on your previous. John

Love the show but now has TOO MANY ADS
I’ve listened to this podcast for many years, and it is still one of my favorites. I’ve learned a lot from it. However, it seems that in the last few months to a year, they’ve added a LOT of ads. I understand you need to make money, and I understand you can become a premium member to make it ad-free. However, if you don’t wish to do this, you will find yourself fast-forwarding several times in the show, which is annoying (especially since the advertisers are no longer “Mac centric”).

Entertaining and informative
Listened for at least a decade to this podcast - so that tells you something….it’s the only tech podcast I listen to and I listen for the knowledge learned and also just for John and Dave (and sometimes Pilot Pete). Of course I learn many new things (hopefully five a show) but also it’s entertaining

Great show.
Great show you guys and congratulations on 900 episodes! This show is tied for first as my top rated Apple focused Podcast. Love learning five new things each time I listen. Formally requesting a video podcast though. I know there’s a Mac Geek Gab YouTube channel (I think) but a video version would be awesome and probably push you over the top.

Fantastic Show
One of the highlights of my week is listening to the Mac Geek Gab - John and Dave (and sometimes Pilot Pete) answer all your questions related to Apple products and services. They also show you cool stuff found, and tips and tricks. This is the first podcast I ever downloaded (way back in 2006), and haven’t missed an episode! I strongly encourage you to check them out - they are the best!

So Helpful and Fun
Not only do Dave and John know their stuff, they present it in a format that makes it fun and informative without being a tech fest. No droning on with inside terminology that only a nerd would understand makes this a good listen without being a boring basic information podcast. They have helped me in many ways.

Very geeky and helpful
One of my favorite podcasts, I love the topics they cover and the deep dives. Very helpful info! Only reason I’m dropping the rating to 4 stars is the amount of sponsors is getting high (thankfully the ads are skippable) and it’s annoying to hear them fumble though technical difficulties while recording which keep happening lately. Like once in a while is fine but when there are multiple interruptions in an episode just edit it out!

One of the themes for this show is that we can each learn five new things each episode. Honestly, I usually do…and often more. Been listening to this show for many years and I look forward to catching each episode. Keep up the great work, Dave and John. Thank you, Scott from Fresno

Best Apple Podcast Anywhere
I have been listening to MacGeekGab for many years and do occasionally listen to other Apple podcasts. There is no comparison. Dave and John (and occasionally Pilot Pete) provide clearly explained answers to questions re Apple technology and 3rd party infrastructure supporting Apple technology. They are knowledgeable geeks with an ability to communicate to both other geeks and to non techies. They serve as collectors (from their own experience and from listeners )and communicators of "cool things found" and "quick tip" The show notes they provide for each weeks podcast are clear and accurate. Keep up the good work guys, looking forward to many more years of the same!

Thoroughly Enjoyable and Highly Informative
I have been listening for many years and I still enjoy these podcasts. Great tech info. Enjoyable format. Just don’t try so hard to set up each other’s responses to the listeners’ questions. Update: It's now almost 5 years later and I'm still enjoying the show and trying to learn and remember 5 new things each episode . Yet another update: Dave and John are still keeping it upbeat, interestin, and relevant during this time of sheltering-in-place and the gradual move towards normalicy.

Best Apple Podcast ... Period!
Light on monotonous Apple corporate news and heavy on real, employable tips, Mac Geek Gab is easily my all time favorite tech podcast! I’ve been listening since 2008 and have never missed an episode. When they say the goal is to learn five new things each week, they mean it. I’ve learned more real-world tips and tricks from listening to John and Dave than I ever could have from reading blogs, books and magazine articles. If you’re longing to get more out of your Mac, iPad and/or iPhone, this is the podcast for you! Now, if I could only find a way of obtaining one of those super-cool MGG coffee mugs I’ve seen photos of... 🤔☕️

Still my favorite Apple-geek podcast... and the only podcast I never, ever miss.
If you use Apple gear and you're a geek... this is the podcast you want to listen to religiously. They say you'll learn four (or five) new things each episode, but they're being modest... you'll learn more than that (and often a lot more). I've gotta say, Mac Geek Gab is my favorite tech podcast. And, it's the only podcast I listen to every week regardless of how busy I might be. . . Trust me: MGG rocks if you're an Apple user. September 4, 2019 Update: MGG still rocks and is still the only podcast I listen to every single week no matter how busy I might be. . . If you use Apple products, I guarantee you’ll learn at least five new things in each episode. It’s what the hosts promise, and it’s what Mac Geek Gab delivers in every episode. Just listen... and you'll be hooked.

I’ve been listening to Dave, John (and sometimes Pete) for many years and attribute much of my expertise with Apple products to them. I pay attention to their recommendations (hence Synology 2600AC router replacing my old TimeCapsule) and always learn AT LEAST 5 new things every time I listen. Love the topic, content, format, and the geeks of course. The stated goal is to help you learn 5 new things an episode, which seems lofty, but often spot on. If nothing else, there will be a few things you re-learn, or be unable to forget since some topics come up with higher frequency. Always a delight to listen to.

John and Dave put out a fantastic show each week, and I have been enjoying it for many, many years. Unquestionably the best Mac-cast around
When checking to update this review I noticed the date on the original: March 2010. I know it was at least a year that I listen to any podcast before writing a review so that means I've been listening to Dave & John (and sometimes Pilot Pete and even occasionally Lucas) for 10 years. I feel like I've gotten to know these guys on a personal level and when they speak, I feel like they know me, too. They know what I do with my Macs and iOS devices, the problems I have with them, the tweaks that I want to make and more. My original review, still intact, is below. Every word of it is still totally applicable - and more. When it arrives in my podcast app it's like having a good friend come to visit. You'll feel the same way after just a listen or two. Unquestionably, unhesitatingly recommended. ----- Original review follows ----- MacGeekGab is unquestionably the best all-around podcast for advanced Mac users. Make no mistake, this isn't for rookies (topics range from the esoteric and arcane to highly complex) but for anyone who prides themselves on being a Mac enthusiast - and certainly for those that consider themselves Mac "power users" - this podcast is an absolute must-have. It's entertaining while informative and thorough without being boring. They do a fabulous job of editing, too, and showing the appropriate icons with each segment of the podcast so it looks visually appealing, too. If you're a hard-core Mac lover, this is The One.

Works for me
I'm a Unix guy from the early 80's amd only got into Macs when they switched to Intel. Even then, I was still much more involved with Unix and Linux than Mac. I didn't even buy an iPhone until a few years ago! I'm much more in the Apple ecosystem now - watch, phone, Mac, HomePod, Apple TV. I know my way around quite well (I've worked retail sales at an Apple store since 2015) but there is still plenty that I do not know and this show often fills in gaps for me. Yes, sometimes I get annoyed when one of them will say something incorrect that they could have avoided by a quick visit to Apple.com, but overall, I like the show and although I listen sporadically to many other podcasts, this is the one I do not miss.

Thanks for 14+ years, here's to many more!
I suppose it's time I updated my own review of our show. Says the last time I published one was on March 27, 2009. Yes, it's odd to review your own show, so I'll simply review our listeners: all of you folks are fantastic. You contribute questions, tips, and Cool Stuff Found each week without fail. And with that, John and I spend whatever time it takes to go through them, do our best to get answers, and then share as much knowledge as we can each and every week when we get together. It's an honor and a pleasure to be stewards for our community, and I truly look forward to doing it for a long time coming. For now, though, I'll just say that I'm looking forward to this week's show! Thanks so much, y'all.

The best Mac podcast
This is my favorite Mac podcast for a number of reasons. Here's 4: 1. They focus on helping people by tackling the hard problems that really annoy and frustrate the Mac community. Their wealth of practical experience helps find solutions, even when the problems are daunting. 2. They have fun while keeping the show friendly to all ages; I have no worries encouraging my whole family to listen and learn new things along with me. 3. I always learn something new and am a better Mac user as a result. 4. The production value of the show is outstanding; it's a fantastic sounding podcast and easy to listen to in the car or at home. For these reasons (and more), I look forward to this podcast each week!

Great podcast for helpful tips, solutions, must listen
Like this podcast. Gets to the point. Lots of interesting problem solving, tips, etc. Answers listener questions. Oddly, the only podcast I have that is like this. Most Apple podcasts are largely Apple rumors, or self involved bloviating rants. But not this one. Non Political - THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU - so far😁 On a issue recently brought up. I also do not get links. I do get chapters, thank you, the only podcast I've found that does chapters. I also get the summary paragraph and sponsor paragraph. But no lists or links. I'm an iOS and Apple podcast app user.

You will alwasy learn more that 4 things!
I love the MGG podcast, and I listen to it every week. I discovered it last June and after listening to about a dozen of their podcasts in a week, I became a Premium subscriber. If any Mac or iPhone user listened to any of their podcasts, you should do the same. This podcast is not only extremely informative, it is also entertaining. Dave and John think like all Mac users; what app/feature frustrates them, what apps/features they like and use, but the thing is they both know a lot more than the vast majority of Mac users. Their goal is for everyone to learn 3 or 4 new things each week. But, I learn a lot more, and I was an Apple Authorized Service Provider and the manager and owner of an Apple Dealership in the 90’s. If you are a Premium subscriber and ask a question by email or leave a voice message, they will always respond. I had a problem with my iMac and chatted online with Apple Support 4 times, and they didn’t know what was wrong. I emailed MGG and they knew how to fix it. Dave and John always know how to fix anything related to Macs and iPhones. So if you’re interested in Macs, iPhones or iPads, you need to listen to this podcast, and check how much you learn from it.

Top Mac podcast
In my opinion this is my favorite mac related podcast. I like the laid back non pushy attitude of both hosts ( and PilotPete ). If they don't know the answer they aren't too proud to admit it. But beware, they might cost you money, because most of their recommendations are worth spending for. If you like the Nosillacast or MacPowerUsers, you'll like this show. One of the few podcasts I am willing to pony up some cash for at this time.

The one Mac podcast I consistently listen to
I gave the podcast 4 out of 5 stars, but most people who feel the way I do about it would probably give it 5 out of 5. To me that’s perfection, and this podcast isn’t perfect. However… I first sat down in front of a Mac in 1985, so I guess that makes me a long time user. I’ve listened to podcasts for over 10 years now and have tried almost all of the various Apple / Mac related podcasts during that time. For the vast majority of them, I listen to them for a while but then get tired of them for various reasons. Examples would include MacWorld, iMore, even TMO’s own Apple Context Machine. However, this is the one podcast that I have stayed subscribed to the whole time. Highly recommend it to anyone who wants to dive deeper into the world of Apple and the Mac. Thanks John and Dave!

This podcast is a great example of what a podcast community can be. They are knowledgable and well-versed in all things tech and Apple. Their willingness to share and help others is evident and profound throughout the show. This show feels like a weekly get-together of a bunch of friends talking geek. Their live shows and integration of the live chat only serve to further this feeling. John’s cautions and tales and Dave’s never ending endeavor to explain the why and how provide for a thorough and in-depth understanding of any issue. Beyond what you get from listening to their podcasts I have received direct help from John and Dave multiple times through their email support. This is the only podcast I truly look forward to hearing the latest episode every week.

I tried the all: this is simply and by far the best
A few years ago I decided I needed help in updating my Mac knowledge. So I tried out several Mac oriented podcasts. In general they fall into two classes. One is advanced non-professionals giving out knowledge that is either incomplete or clearly repeats of basic stuff. The other is professional with a lot of name dropping and use of technical terms without proper explanation. Then I found Mac Geek Gab. Dave and John solve all of the above problems. They are professionals. From help desk to programming, they have done it all. They know how the machines and how Apple works (and how PCs work for that matter). They know how to span the pro-amateur divide with appropriate explanations, sources for more info and helpful examples. Whatever your level, you can find a way into the world of computers here. And it is very worth mentioning that they are funny, pleasant and laid back. Computers are meant to be helpful, fun and interesting, not intimidating. John and Dave embody this philosophy. Also they unbelievably answer most if not all of their ample supply of technical questions. Don’t know how but they do. I have sent many questions and they have all been answered promptly (and correctly). This is all free but there is a Premium service, which means your questions are answered first. For $10 a month this is the bargain of the century. It is a great example of how technology is changing our lives (their podcast, that is) and how such a small price can pay for weekly installment of great listening and learning. I urge you to join the Premium service to keep this alive as long as possible (though there is no sign they are slowing down). Lastly, I will mention the sponsors. Dave and John choose them carefully so you have something else you can depend on. I have used most of the sponsors (Lynda, OWC, Squarespace etc) and have recommended them to friends. All have been good calls. I could obviously go on but you get the message. Tune in, have fun, learn

Hands down the best Mac podcast
Dave and John set the standard of excellence for Mac podcasts. Each week they tackle the toughest listener issues and offer clear and detailed advice with a nice touch of humor and wit. They are my "Mac Professors" teaching me all about the technical details of Mac and Apple devices, software and apps. Best of all, they answer emails and offer tips on really tricky problems. They helped me navigate a problem with an iPhoto library in Dropbox that caused problems in moving to the new Mac photos app.

The synergy between John and Dave is perfect, they can take geeky subjects and make them immediately understandable to anyone. Five stars for these guys because I never remember hearing them waste my time with any silly speculation about what the next Apple announcement will be. Totally geeky, totally great!
I am a mac 'power user' myself, this podcast is really professional. I recommend it to everyone I meet who is a fellow mac geek/power user. I learn something new every podcast. It's also really professionally recorded and produced and divided by chapters so that you can easily skip if you feel you already know the answer to the question. They usually do 'cool stuff found' towards the end of each show. Even though they sound like comedians, they are not trying to be, so do not listen to this expecting to be laughing, they are jovial, but their goal is to be informative and they are very very good at that and they really know their stuff. Highly recommended. Keep up the good work guys…don't get caught! Cheers, Felix

This is by far my favorite Mac-related podcast, and one of my faves overall. Even my girlfriend likes it, and she's hardly the geek I am. Lots of relevant info in every episode, as well as entertaining banter. Some podcasts seem to take liberty with their language in this relatively unregulated medium - not these guys. Always respectful and easy to listen to. I subscribe to the Premium podcast (highly recommended) and get enough value out of almost every single installment to make that feel like a great investment. You can cut me off here!

Can't take it anymore...
I started out liking this podcast, but think i've listened to my last episode. It's really a turn-off how Mr. Hamilton treats Mr. Braun. You can tell he doesn't care for him much. Another problem is when Mr. Hamilton reads something and then pretends he knows what he is talking about. His comments on UNIX topics generally have me rolling my eyes. My advice to Mr. Braun would be to start his own podcast. Oh, and I love the way Mr. Hamilton stole Braun's tag line of 'don't get caught' as his own. Priceless!

The best podcast for Mac users
The Mac Geek Gab is by far the best Mac podcast out there! All of the others are strangely self-referential, and regardless of how they frame themselves, end up just talking about things that are only relevant to other podcasters and developers. Not the case with Mac Geek Gab. It's the one place to learn things about your Mac beyond the very consumer basics, and if you're having a tricky technical issue, they'll almost definitely solve it for you! Love this show!

If you only listen to one...
I listen to a lot of Mac-oriented podcasts, and some might be a better choice if what you want is a weekly wrap-up of Mac news. However, none of the others come close to delivering the depth or quality of information this show does. More, these guys do it consistently. Great job of delivering geeky (and not so geeky) information in a way anyone can understand. The weekly high point of my commutes. Way to go, Dave and John. What I wrote here still holds, and now that the first podcast of 2012 is up, it'll be a great year.

MGG: A One of a Kind Show
I feel compelled to write periodic reviews for this show, to give the hosts (John, Dave and occasionally, Pilot Pete) kudos for keeping' on keeping' on. I've been a faithful listener since I crossed over to the Mac platform in 2006. While I THINK I have a relatively good grasp of Mac hardware, OS X, Apps, etc., I nevertheless find myself running into a snag every so often. This appears to be the case with many of my fellow listeners, particularly after new releases of hardware and software. In fact, many times I resolve to send them an email with a plea for help, only to hear someone else who's written in before me with exactly the same issue. John and Dave almost always come up with an approach or three to solve the problem (its fun when they debate). So chances are dozens with exactly the same issue who had no idea what was wrong are being helped just by listening regularly. Experience has shown me that J&D are more often than not willing to write back rather than making listeners wait for the question to come up on the show. Other podcasts, such as Victor Cajaio's fantastic "Typical Mac User" podcast, address a particular theme for every show, often bringing in a subject matter expert for a "deep dive". This is great, useful, and helps us derive more utility from our Macs and understand the "innards" just a bit better. But MGG is unique in the sense that they address problems unique to individual users. These are folks, like me, who have encountered disinterested "geniuses" and clueless help desk employees (yep, even Apple has a few). For many, they're the last place to turn. And lest one think the show is cut and dry, their senses of humor and banter make for terrific entertainment in-between technowoes. Give a listen, even if your Apple ship is sailing smoothly. Chances are, it won't forever, and you'll either have learned how to fix what is sure to come, or, you'll have sympathetic and knowledgeable ears ready to listen and help. Nice going, guys! Please keep it up. Kenny in NJ

The geekiest of them all! (That's a good thing)
I have to admit, when I first subscribed to this podcast nearly 3 years ago, I was waaaaaaay over my head. It was like they were speaking Arabic or something. I'm glad I stuck around though because I've learned a lot through osmosis. I can now look at the Console with peeing myself. I know what DNS means and how it works. I can even troubleshoot my home wireless network! What kept me hanging around was the rapport between Dave and John. Clearly, they've known each other for years and it comes through in their banter. The best thing about it is the format. Listeners write in with questions and they answer them. It's as simple as that and it just works. So subscribe now and get your geek on.

Perfect show for how to's and problem solving for Mac users
Got hooked on this great podcast about 8 months ago. I have learned so much about how the Mac OS works, tips, tricks and problem solving its amazing. I like geeky and this is right on par for me. Now you don't have to like to tinker with the system to find this podcast useful because everything is pretty well explained by 2 or 3 very good personalities hosting the show. If you have ever wondered about how to get the most from your Mac I suggest you give this great show a try. I bet you too will soon become a big fan.

Braun is too irritating
The podcast is informative and timely. Dave Hamilton is great. The reason I stopped listening is John F. Braun. Braun's voice fades in and out, he constantly says, "UM", and he stutters. John F. Braun is so irritating that I can't listen any more. Sadly, he has been joining more and more podcasts I listen to.

I've listened to a lot of Mac-centric podcasts. MGG is the best of those for technical content and the hosts are a pleasure to listen to. Mac podcast with high geek rating... this is good.
Dave and John provide great tips and tricks and provide a good understanding of some of the geekier aspects of using a Mac. Their backgrounds and experience prepare them well for handling this stuff. A high quality, informative Mac podcast for more advanced computer users
These guys have a quality, entertaining production and do a great job of exploring Mac related advice and solutions from a more advanced user perspective. They seem well prepared for each show, and have professional vocal skills for solid listening enjoyment. They also get important contributions and questions from their listener community. I also like how they often follow up on their advice in later shows, offering improvements or alternative solutions based on their further research or suggestions contributed by listeners. Well indexed audio files, too. A top notch podcast for advanced Mac users!

This podcast saved my life!!!!!!!
When I say 'saved my life', I mean it literally. Here's my story: I was driving into Burger King (because that's how I roll) listening to this podcast. As I entered the drive thru, you guys were talking about how to fix Mac's or something (I don't know, I wasn't paying attention) and all of a sudden a seagull came from nowhere and flew directly into my windshield!!! Thanks for making a podcast so entertaingly entertaing, that I decided to stay in my car (protected) rather than walk into the dark, cold, seagul-infested air.

Sometimes helpful, often annoying
The number of times Dave Hamilton uses the pronoun "I" in any given podcast is the inverse quotient of useful information to be found in it. Hamilton says "I" a lot. Equally annoying is Hamilton's penchant for punctuating pointless poppycock about himself (family trips to Disney World, how hard he works, how late his band played last night) with "aahhggg". "aahhggg" is the standup comic's tool of last resort for filling the deadly silence that follows jokes that fall flat. Cool as Hamilton desperately wants to be, he says "aahhggg" a lot. "aahhggg" also prevents co-host John Braun from getting a wiser word in edgewise. When Braun does find a way into the conversation Hamilton usually cuts him off with, "aahhggg, let's move on." If a listener can filter out Braun's impish attempts at resistance to Hamilton's overwhelming self-importance, it's possible to glean that Braun is actually the smarter of the two. Don't expect Hamilton to let Braun's smarts get much air time. It takes too much tolerance of the trivial for this listener to extract the useful from in this podcast.

Best? Macintosh Podcast
Best one I've found. Enjoy it every week. Dave and John know Macs, Pilot Pete adds a regular / power user perspective. Anything these guys don't know, one of their listeners does. Fun, but not silly. Informative on the tech side of things, not a podcast for vendors to come flog their products. Sort of a cross-between the Genius counter at an Apple Store and a really good user group (do those still exist?). Still tops.

So informative and presented in a way even a "Newbie" Geek can understand!
This podcast is awesome - one of the best Mac podcasts available today. John and Dave solve complex Mac computer- based problems sent in from listeners in an easy, cut - to - the - chase, understandable way. Since discovering their podcast, I have listened to over 90 earlier episodes and I have been able to solve numerous Mac -related problems on my systems and on friend's systems because of what I have learned while listening in my car on the way to work. Plus, it is fun to listen to, because THEY ARE REAL, they are not showing off, or making silly jokes like on many of these tech podcasts. They are simply trying to help listeners solve their tech problems with real answers, or by sharing personal stories of their personal tech challenges and solutions. I give this podcast TEN stars! Don't miss it.

Gold Standard
Have tried others, but keep coming back to John and Dave. One suggestion: I've noticed the patter between the hosts gets better (better than its usual great) when you are in the same room, like at shows and such. So while taking live questions is neat, hosts in the same room is better (but don't get caught).

By far the best Mac related podcast
These guys have helped me out on a number of occasions. I learn something useful from every podcast. Sometimes it gets a little geeky but if that concerns you, don't subscribe to a podcast with the word Geek in the title! Seriously, they explain the geeky stuff so the average user can implement at home. Dave and John are friendly, witty, smart and helpful. I've subscribed since I switched to Mac two years ago. Several times I've submitted questions and Dave sent me a response via email in addition to answering the question on the show. Also, they don't get bogged down in a lot of the Apple related gossip that some of the other shows do.

Mac Geek Gab is a must listen
I've been listening to Mac Geek Gab for a while but it's only recently made it to my podcast starting rotation. Other podcasts spend their time talking about Mac FanBoy trivia but MGG helps you use your computer more efficiently. Awesome Mac Podcast
This is one of my favorite mac podcasts. John and Dave always keep you up to date on what is going on in the mac community. They always have great comment with new tips, programs, etc for us to try. They usually do "cool stuff found" where they will talk about just that- cool programs/ hardware/ accessories/ whatever that they have found or listeners have told them about. They actually LISTEN and RESPOND to listener e-mail and phonecalls which is really cool! I have had them play some of my comments personally 2 or 3 times now. They always try to answer questions if possible. They aren't afraid to admit if they said something wrong and will correct themselves in a later show. All in all- I love this podcast and look forward to a new episode each week (and even get said when one is on vacation and we dont get an episode!)

It's all about the tangents...
The geeks never hesitate to go "off on a tangent" and for me those are the best parts of the show! Well, anytime they are pegging "the meter" I'm all ears. Have listened for over a year now and always look forward to what might be in store. Every episode contains something new for me. I was a Windows geek from Windows version 2 until 2006 when I got my first Mac. Lots of fun to listen to even when it's way over my head
As a MacFan since my first 512e in 1986 or 87, I've always enjoyed learning what goes on inside there. John and Dave and Pete always make this stuff fun. Even when the beanie propellors are spinning fast enough to counter global warming, such that I just sort of stare at the iPod and go, "huh?", still I do pick up lots of practical pointers. I learn about products I'd otherwise not likely have known about. I hear about techniques I can then go and research more thoroughly, even something here and there in Terminal. A few other Mac podcasts offer some equally good info, but this is the place to go to get a few laughs in the process. Download and enjoy -- (just don't get caught.)

I've listened since almost the first episode, and always learn something. Like anyone, they sometimes get some details wrong, but are very good about corrections in the following episodes mostly because their listeners are good about correcting them. Good Information
This is the best Mac related podcast out there and I have listened to them all. There are 2 guys so there is not just the usual 1 guy droning on and on. The other thing that makes this show so great is they don't do a ton of interviews, its all about answering the fans questions and having the best insight they can provide. The only downer is Pilot Pete, who kind of grinds the show to a halt. Great great show every week.

Best Mac Podcast
I've been a Mac convert from Windows since 2002. When I discovered podcasts, I subscribed to most of the Mac oriented ones I could find in the iTunes directory. I've dropped all but a small handful, and Mac Geek Gab is by far the best one out there. I've listened to most of them (starting around #25) and have learned more about Macs and useful Mac software than I came close to learning in seven years of Mac use coupled with another ten years of Windows use before that. Dave, John and Pilot Pete provide entertaining answers to questions and objective evaluation of hardware and software. I listen on my way to and from work, and re-listen to episodes that cover specific topics I want to refresh myself on. I hope they continue this one for years to come.

I highly recommend any Mac user to listen to this podcast. Dave and John have great chemistry and throw in Pilot Pete's comments as a power user and you have an entertaining show. I can say that I have learned much from this show and they have saved me a couple of times. You can also engage with them on Twitter.

No Pain, No Gain (and there is plenty of both)
These guys really know their stuff, but hey are painful for me to listen to. Too often they try too hard to say something funny. They also tag a disclaimer on most comments they make, apparently afraid to make a definitive statement and they interrupt themselves regularly. That being said, you will learn more listening to this podcast than any other Mac broadcast. This podcast is for learning- If you are more interested in being entertained, listen to Leo.

once upon a time i really loved this show but any more i am liking others better. this one is charming and sort of funny if you dont know what else is out there. these guys are informative and you can tell that they know what they are doing but its almost like they are just too professional at this and sometimes leave everyone feeling a little unentertained i think.

If you don't want to hear a lot of details, this is your Mac podcast
The discussion is varied but topical, so don't expect a lot of depth. The focus tends to stay squarely on Macs but occasionally they'll talk about accessories such as external hard drives, wireless routers, or interoperability with Windows. Many of the discussions can meander and be slow in getting to the point. The hosts are friendly and not afraid to disagree with one another which is admirable. Like most podcasts there are sponsor plugs but these are refreshingly brief, the hosts make an honest attempt to have an actual discussion instead of using the podcast as an infomercial platform, which I also applaud them for. Be particularly skeptical with information regarding networking and the Mac - they tend to wing it a lot in this area and have given poor advice on multiple occasions.

Always informative, always entertaining
I listen to the Mac Geeks gabbing in the car back and forth to work. I have been a Mac guy since 1987 (Mac SE) but I still always learn something from each podcast. John and Dave are the kind of guys I can sit down and talk with. Excellent.

Fun, Exciting, Witty, Knowledgeable Geeks
I have listened to the Gab since episode 1 and the witty banter and shaking of the fists, is something I REALLY look forward to each and every week. The combined knowledge of Dave and John is impressive. Many a time I have found their tips accurate and on the money. And the weeks there are more than one Gab, well, it just makes my week! Listening on the train, I have gotten many looks at why I am smiling/laughing so much. I know it is not set out to be a comedy show, but it has some really good zingers! Keep up the good, nay, GREAT job, and keep producing! A grateful thank to Pilot Pete who keeps Dave in check, and on time (whenever he is around...)!

Great show that answers all of your Mac related questions
I will start with saying this, I have been a listener of the Mac Geek Gab since show early 2007 give or take. To learn more about Macs, as I was a recent switcher, I came across this show in iTunes. I have always been an avid listener because I like the format of the show. It feels live and they do a great job of taking listener questions and answering them in a way that's easy to listen to, energetic, and sometimes just plain funny. The cover a wide range of topics that will inform you but not always be out there in geek speak. They have the ability to put a show together that is fun and educational to listen to. I also like the fact that they include pictures, links, and chapter markers in the AAC version so that you can easily click on the link in iTunes and it take you to whatever product or service that was mentioned. This takes lots of time to produce and it shows in the final product.

Love the MGG. Listen to it on my way home. Now something good comes out of the commute. Dave and John present the material in a way that you're being entertained and learning something very useful along the way. Then you just get home, pull out your MBP and try out what you've just learned. :-D Looking forward to the next podcast.

No but seriously, if you are interested in mac geekery, this podcast is a staple. I suggest taking notes because this show is chockfull of useful tips and it's hard to remember them all! Thanks to the makers of the show for their hard work and I hope that I can look forward to a new show every week for a long time to come.

My tourguides for the world of Mac
Dave, John and the mysterious "Pilot Pete" are incredibly informative and entertaining. Although new to the Mac, I am a very tech savvy professional. Even this old dog learns pertinent new things with every Geek Gab episode. They touch on a wide array of topics including the Mac OS, networking, audio, video, photography, iPod and product reviews. I have recommended this podcast to several of my friends who have since become weekly listeners. There are many good podcasts about the Mac and all things Apple. IMHO, this is the best of those podcasts. If I could only listen to one technical podcast per week this would be my choice. Advertisers might want to note that this podcast has helped lead me to purchase of a Macbook, Apple Time Capsule, iPod Touch, audio speakers and several software products.

Good show
While I usually don't like geeky stuff when it comes to Macs, this is one show that is really well done. I will say thought that it is pure Dave Hamilton that this show is running. John is a useless guy in this show, 90% of the time he is quiet. Not saying John doesn't know about Macs, he does. But when it comes to hosting a podcast, you need to speak up. 4 stars instead of 5. 'Cause Dave just loves iTunes comments! :)

By far and hands-down my favorite Mac podcast
I always look forward to listening to this cast. Dave and John have a really good synergy of communication that is rare in podcasts. I'd even say that it's my favorite podcast of all. Sometimes on different podcasts it seems like everyone is trying to talk over the other person. Dave and John communicate and discuss instead of waiting for their turn to talk. Not only that, but the content is great, timely and well-informed. If you don't subscribe to any Mac podcasts, I would recommend this one. This pony wins the race and comes out ahead of all the rest! Highly recommended.

Dave and John, what can I say? My wife and I love you guys. I don't know if you read all of these iTunes reviews, but I thought I'd let you know that. We travel a lot and listen to you guys on the road all the time. When I first started playing your podcast in the car with my wife a couple of years ago, she was hesitant, saying things like "I don't like listening to people talk." Now she is as into you guys as I am. We have two offices in our home, and the other day, she came into my office while I was listening to your podcast, I got in trouble! "Are you listening to OUR podcast without me?" she asked. I had to start it over while she went to get a laptop to join me in my office. I think the reason she likes you guys so much, you have great voices for what you do, and are able to take a unique approach to tech problems and talk about them where anyone can understand you. I like listening because it helps me stay current, and it helps me catch up on the older Mac tech, since I'm only about a 2 year old switcher. Anyway, I wanted to say thanks. I hope that you guys read this, and that this helps anyone on the fence about subscribing to The Mac Geek Gab. If you are thinking about subscribing, do it. You won't regret it. Worth every penny! ~Chester

THE best podcast for Mac Geeks and Not-So-Geeks
Dave Hamilton and John Braun are two big-time Mac Geeks, but they're not so geeky you can't take them out in public. Their podcast is the perfect blend of geeky tips and tricks and advice for the newbie. As a PC user for 26 years and a Mac convert for 7 of those years, I'm pretty knowledgeable when it comes to computing, but I listen to this podcast every week because there is always a take-away that's more than worth the effort. First and foremost, Dave and John offer a wide-range of Mac computing advice, but they manage to do it in a way that is upbeat and entertaining. The hour seems to fly by, but it's packed with great stuff: new software to try, buried system tweaks, network troubleshooting--you name it and the Geeksters cover it (or have in a back issue). So, whether you've just switched to the best computing platform available, or you're an old hand, give a listen. I'm betting you'll come away having learned something new that will make a difference in your productivity level, ease of use, or sense of fun with Mac OS X. Live long and prosper, Mac Geeks. And don't get caught!

Advice, Recommendations, and Real-life Stories
You've listened to the other guys babble on about this or that...now, take a listen to Dave and John. Their stories come from actual usage of Apple products not some popular magazine sitting on a shelf three days after it comes out. They provide great feedback and recommendations to "callers" with a twist of humor and practicality "without getting caught" in any hype. If you are looking for a mix of geekdom from fellow Mac users, Mac Geek Gab is the podcast for you...sit back, watch the graphics change with the topics, and enjoy...

Tune in!
Tune in! Right, Dave and John, we don't "tune in," but as you said, we sorta' do in a 2008 way. This Mac Podcast is technical, but never crosses the line into "too technical." If you're new to Macs, or want your computer to be like a toaster, you may find listening to the Mac Geek Gab challenging, but Dave and John are up to keeping the challenge from being too difficult. Their Geek-O-Meter bleeps *geek* * geek* when they are just about to go out of control, so they don't. What you'll get from subscribing and listening to this podcast is both enjoyment and knowledge. Some basics, some intermediate, and some just about to BOING the Geek-O-Meter. Even if you're a novice, you'll understand all, or nearly all, and finish your listen with useful info. Even if some content bleeps your personal Geek-O-Meter, it won't for long, thanks to the Mac Geek Gab's clarification of all things MacGeek. Tune in! Subscribe. This show is definitely worth your time.

These guys do a great job. The Mac Geek Gab (MGG) is all about sharing a bit of fun and news, then bringing the community together to solve each others' problems. John and Dave put a lot of effort into helping people out, and listeners call in with solutions where the hosts fall short. I subscribe because MGG is fun to listen to, it has info on useful tools and tips to get the most out of my Mac and network and other devices, and I know they will be able to lead me in the right direction should I ever run across a problem they haven't already covered.

One of the best Mac-related podcasts.
As a 17 year Windows user who switched to Mac nine months ago I subscribed to every Mac-related podcasts I could find. A lot of podcast while pretty good often rehashes the same news I had heard on other podcasts or had read on the web. I was delighted to find the Mac Geek Gab since they go much more in depth into the OSX and don't just endlessly talk about the iPhone. I have learned a great deal from this show and a a programmer and professional geek I now know much more on working with and maintaining OSX then before I started listening to their show. Though you don't have to be a geek to enjoy the show and more casual Mac users will also learn much. Besides their good technical foundation the banter between the two hosts is always fun and lends to the enjoyment of the show.

Useful, smart, accessible.
Time is scarce, knowledge isn't. Today, in an ever-decreasing timeframe, we need to know more about our computers. Although the Macintosh is worlds ahead of the PC, it has its problems. The Mac Observer's Mac Geek Gab tackles these problems and explores new uses for our macs in an entertaining and informative way. Its greatest asset? The podcast is divided into chapters so that listeners can quickly scan for questions that they're interested in. Sick of hearing about networking? Skip it and move onto hard disk problems! A very well-done show, worthy of subscription.
