What a negative group you assembled to beat up on Christmas programming, Christmas trees, etc. I lost count of how many sentences began with…”I hate…” before I decided I had had enough.

Bursting with Positivity
All four of the guys (Jay, JD, Ryan and Brendon) are really positive and nice, even when they completely disagree with one another. They produce an impressive amount of content on a weekly basis and are a refreshing listen, whether or not I happen to agree with their takes on a particular film. The main show covers the flashier new content, and the Extra Film show takes on lesser-known new movies along with some great director filmographies, which offer a fun opportunity to watch along week-to-week. Really worth a listen.

InSession is On Point
I stumbled across this podcast on Twitter and am so glad I did. Not only do the cover films, they make you feel like part of the conversation. Entertaining, informative and relatable. They don’t always agree so you get fresh perspectives backed with knowledgable and colorful debates. They break down film in a way that both filmaholics and your average film fan will enjoy. Give them a listen and thank me later.

InSession Film for the win!
I love the Extra Film director series! Never would have tackled the films of Powell and Pressburger, David Lynch, or David Lean without it! My one nitpick is that Ryan is a Texas fan, but nobody’s perfect. The main show is also great for the big, new releases. You can tell those guys have been doing it for a long time. The love of film is apparent. So glad I found this show!

A fantastic set of film podcasts
I really enjoy this channel, the hosts are all extremely knowledgeable about films without ever coming across as pretentious. I also really like that they cover a wide variety of movies, from more artsy films like Annette to whatever Mortal Kombat is. Even when the hosts disagree, they are always respectful of each other’s opinions, and I’ve never heard them give any mean spirited reviews. With several episodes released during the week, there is always have something to listen to from them. It just seems like they all love movies, and want to share that love with the rest of us.

A Most Enjoyable and Insightful Podcast
The three different shows on this feed each present fun and interesting takes on the film. The main show with JD and Brendan do an excellent job hitting the newest releases and check off fun lists each week. Jay and Ryan hone in on the specialty releases. Their analysis of various directors remains a highlight of my week. Chasing the Gold brings together some of the best awards pundits in the industry. Great feed, great shows.

A Favorite
One of my favorite film podcasts. I’ve been listening for 6 years. J.D. and Brendan deliver consistently well-thought out reviews and a deep knowledge of film history, in a fun, engaging, and sometimes emotional manner. And they bring on a variety of guests, creating diverse perspectives and often times surprising considerations. Greatest of all, they remain curious listeners who invite conversation with their reviews, rather than tell you how you should feel or what you should think. InSession Film is accessible to anyone who loves movies.

Come for content, stay for friendship
JD has the voice of your favorite tree from childhood. Brendan has the voice of that reliable jukebox from your neighborhood diner. Ryan has the voice of your grandma’s signature dessert. Jay has the voice of a worldly cedar chest full of love letters. Basically, they all sound sexy in their own unique way, and their opinions are mostly good too!

One of the Most Thoughtful Movie Podcasts Out There
I discovered InSession on a whim, in fact, it’s still a mystery how I found out. Maybe a Twitter post? Maybe an iTunes search for movie podcasts? However it was, I’m here to stay. You will be blown away by how in-depth and meticulous the InSession Film panel is, I know I was! This podcast’s panelists thoughtful perspectives, even in disagreements, make them shine. It’s an inspiration now after ONLY 3 episodes of listening! That, more so than anything else, says something about the staying power of this podcast. If you like intentional discussion on film, this is the podcast for you.

Long-running Great Film Podcast!
InSession, simply put, is one of the best film podcasts you can listen to. JD and Brendan bring fantastic thoughts every single week and have a gift for discussing movies in a way that is not just entertaining but usually thought-provoking as well. Their Top 3 lists each main episode are so much fun and serve to get their community of listeners involved. Because you will always want to think about what your own picks would be. And Extra Film has added even more awesome conversations to their feed. If you can only pick a few film podcasts to listen to, do yourself a favor and make this one of ‘em!

One of the best film podcasts out there
Since the start of quarantine I have listened to many film podcasts as I have become more and more interested in film as an art form. Of all the many podcasts I have listened to, I am comfortable saying InSession Film (and Extra Film) is among the best. Co-hosts Brendan and JD, as well as Extra Film co-hosts Jay and Ryan, are some of the most reasonable and open-minded film critics I have heard. In every film review I have listened to from them, even when their thoughts are negative, they always seem to have something positive to say. These are also some of the most well prepared and intelligent hosts you’ll ever hear; it’s clear in every review that they take the time to process and analyze the films they watch before reviewing, and that makes the discussions incredibly insightful. More than once I have reconsidered my own opinions on a film after listening to an InSession review on it. In addition to their reviews, the top 3 lists are incredibly entertaining to listen to, and the end of year awards shows are some of my favorite podcast episodes to listen to (and so are the movie drafts!). Every review, top 3 list, and awards show is so passionate and uncynical, making InSession Film a joy to listen to. Can’t recommend this podcast highly enough if you’re a film lover like me. Keep up the good work guys!

Very intelligent, yet VERY entertaining!
I’ve been listening to the Insession Film Podcast for a number of years now and have always greatly appreciated and enjoyed their podcast. It’s one of the few review outlets in general (between podcasts, written, YouTube, or otherwise) that manages to talk about film so intelligently but keep in extremely accessible at the same time. Not to mention, INCREDIBLY enjoyable as well! It’s always a great show to have on while I’m working around the house, on the road, or basically anywhere else!

Good OLD M. Night!
I stumbled upon this gem of a podcast after searching for a review on M. Night’s newest movie OLD. After just 10 minutes in, I was hooked. Then Brenden sealed it with a nod to A Ghost Story!!! I have since binged 5 episodes. Brenden and JD have fully thought out explanations for their opinions (good & bad), they allow each other the space to explain their side and acknowledge when the other has a good point. They have great chemistry and work well off each other. Come for the amazing reviews, stay for the laughs and movie recommendations.

While I’ve gotten some enjoyment over the years with In Session Film, I’m realizing it isn’t for me. Predictably like most film podcasts I listen to the hosts immediately dump on Zack Snyder. I’m far from a fanboy but it’s become cliche for film critics to dump on him. Whether you like his films or not he at least has vision and with Army of the Dead he has assembled a diverse working class set of characters and included a father-daughter relationship as a way of working out the pain of the tragic loss of his own. These critics prefer the bourgeoisie slickness of Ocean 11 heist films. That’s fine but it’s also pretty basic. I guess I need to find some new film podcasts that aren’t so negative toward a director. It’s expected to dislike films but take the personal jabs out.

Great film podcast
I don’t often write reviews for podcasts. That’s on me. But I enjoy this podcast quite a bit and they often draw my attention toward films I might have missed or overlooked. I’ve been binging on Charlie Chaplin films lately and am so grateful for this podcast for that. I knew his works are considered classics but I had no idea that I would find them to be some of the best films I’ve ever seen. So, I figure the least I could do is dip in here and give a review. The podcast is great. The discussions are insightful and open minded. The hosts have a clear love for film and are well educated in film history and film makers and their filmographies. I find there is plenty to learn from them. I enjoy listening to them and have benefited from it. Stay cool, thanks for everything.

I really enjoy listening to this podcast as the hosts (including the ones from the extra film shows) provide interesting opinions and entertaining banter. I like how each episode is split into two, with the hosts catching listeners up on what they have recently watched in between the films they’re reviewing. I always get excited when I see a notification that a new episode is out.

A must listen for serious film fans
I’ve been a fan of this show for a long time, due to their hosts immense film knowledge, professionalism, and great sound quality and production value. However, since they introduced two more great hosts to their lineup, it has made their extra film and chasing the gold episodes also required listens. All 4 of this show’s main hosts bring a diverse view of opinions which make for great discussions. Even though they focus on a lot of smaller film releases often, they never come off as pretentious film snobs. I have found many new movies to check out based on their recommendations, that I may not have heard about on other shows. Thanks guys, and keep up the great work! -Tony from Take Too Podcast

Extra Film is Pretty...Pretty...Pretty Great
While the main show is good, it’s Extra Film that makes me love this podcast. Ryan and Jay have built a friendship that will last for a millennium and each week they rock out some of the best content in the podcast world. While one would think that I’m one of the cohost for Extra Film writing a review to get entered into a DVD contest to make my fellow co host get mad at me, one would also argue that I’m just a guy who loves celebrating the small films, indies or classics that the main show doesn’t get around to. Keep rocking on InSession Film, especially Ryan and Jay, who make podcast gold and then release it every Friday for Extra Film!

Hope it gets better,
and I may adjust if it improves with age, but so far there’s at least one person in each episode almost or completely ruining it. You have: the dude who says “like” constantly; the bloke who sounds like he was told his dog died before recording, so he smoked a bunch of indica then popped some ‘ludes equaling no energy or enthusiasm, and finally the guy who incessantly says, “to me, for me” and “for me, personally.” Sometimes, no joke, he goes “To me, at least for me, personally...” It’s obvious you’re expressing your own opinions and not those of the neighbors across the street. Add in the really annoying, albeit prevalent in most podcasts, habit of saying, e.g.: “Viggo Mortensen’s character,” every..single..time. You could cut ten minutes by establishing the characters’ names then using them, or after the first time say “Viggo” if you’re too lazy to learn them or don’t respect your listeners enough to presume we can follow along. How anyone with a developed sense of humor couldn’t love Sean and Hot Fuzz is beyond me, but yanks often need their comedy spoon fed to them with broad strokes, and most likely the one laconic, zombie-like co-host referenced above isn’t the target audience, regardless. 😉😅

Stop trying to be too smart
I like this show well enough but a problem I have with it is inaccessibility. The hosts are clearly well versed and researched in film but they often seem too preoccupied in trying to sound like the smartest guy in the room. Also, nitpick here, but their opening thoughts range from about 3-5 minutes and that feels like a review in and of itself and the rest of the review just feels like padding. Maybe be a bit more concise with the opening thoughts and let the discussion carry the review. But that's just me.

Sexy is not a term I use often...but using it to describe the InSession Film Podcast is a no-brainer. Intellectual, smooth, polished, confident and packed with content, what JD and Brendan have created here is something that is truly unique and mandatory for any serious film fan. A Film Podcast with a Mission
JD and Brendan try to elevate the discussion of films with lengthy dialogue and deep knowledge. These guys have a good rapport but also know their techniques. They don't merely gush about recent films or dump on the ones they dislike, they actually try to explain why they feel the way they do. The talk and vocabulary is sometimes a bit overdone, I think you can sound intelligent without relyng on as many crutch phrases of cinephiles, but they usually have a good point inspite of the occassional pedantic moment. With two shows a week and each show almost two hours, you will get as much insight as you need to carry on a conversation on your own about the same films. I may not ever see the Indian Cinema or Italian Neo-realism that crops up occassionally but I like listening to it being discussed and these guys make it worth your while. Add the InSession Film Podcast to your weekly listening time and you will be rewarded.

Live to hear their own theories
Obviously knowledgeable. Good Topics. The discussions and interactions turn into rambling, esoteric, philosophical monologues that are designed less about the topic and much more about letting the listener know that the hosts are much more learned than everyone else. They might do so by choosing some 1934 German film that no one has ever heard of as a favorite. Speaking of film, these guys would clearly never stoop to calling something a movie. One of these clowns said film four times in one sentence. Seriously. Mix in a freaking pronoun. Somehow they are boring and infuriating. Too bad because there are some legitimately interesting topics here. Stop trying to dazzle us with intellect and try those pronouns out once in a while. Unsubscribe.

A Well Rounded Film Podcast
The InSession Film Podcast has two things that makes it stand out in my plethora of film podcasts: 1. Its hosts, JD and Brendan don't limit themselves to popular blockbusters, but neither do they shy away from them. Instead they cover a wide range of films, from the biggest hits to the smallest indies to deep cut classics. It's a refreshing take in a landscape of podcasts that usually focus exclusively on niche titles or maintream fare. 2. They also try to really dig into whatever film they talk about. No matter if it's the newest TRANSFORMERS film or an Andrei Trakovsky, they do their best to go over the good and the bad, giving credit where it's due in films they hate and not shying away from deconstructing their problems with movies they love. They have a rotating list of terms they love to use which can sometimes give them a "film student hipster" vibe some people may find annoying (in which case I would direct you to another podcast I love, the True Bromance Film Podcast, for more...uh..."casual" movie conversations with plenty of drinks). But if you want an in-depth film critisicm podcast with great discussion, a wide scope, and creative analysis, you can't do much better than the InSession Film Podcast, a place to hear views on the biggest movies AND discovering flicks you might not otherwise have considered watching.

the nice guys
Just listened to The Nice Guys review. Whomever your guest was, he deserved to lose his podcast. Waste of breath that one. Otherwise, like your podcast. Give this movie a break though. It was just plain fun. Don't overanalyze the story. Just enjoy. I loved Inherent Vice, and was so happy to have another one of these movies made within a year or so. True, I wouldn't want a world full of random, wandering type movies, but a cool one here and there is just the right amount of candy. Oh, like you said, I hope they put these two stars together in a flic again. They made a great team.

One of the best
I found these guys about a month ago and have been really loving this show. They have great timing in terms of getting episodes out right after movies make their way into theaters, both for major releases and more niche arthouse/foreign films. The show is smart and entertaining and I honestly enjoy this podcast more than the top ranked film review podcasts on iTunes. It's probably my favorite podcast I've found for reviewing current movies. If you're a film lover, InSession is an absolute must-subscribe.

almost great
I like this film podcast. It would be great if they would remove the annoying backround music loop that plays over and over while they are talking. Especially with head phones on, it is very distracting.

Magnificent!
I've only had the opportunity to check out a couple episodes so far, as I tend to avoid most film podcasts because I host one myself and I am inundated with film content every day. That said, listening to In Session is an absolute treat. JD and Brendan are fantastic hosts, and they offer intelligent and well-thought-out criticisms and praise for a wide variety of films. The production value is out of this world- it sounds extremely clean and professional, and I truly commend them for it. If you listen to any film podcast (besides mine? HAHA), you need to subscribe to this amazing show. You won't be disappointed.

These Guys Set A New Bar For Movie Podcasts
One of the first things you will notice is how professional this show comes across. These guys are not your run of the mill movie quoting geeks that are killing time in a Mom’s basement eating cheese puffs and drinking energy drinks. They are smart guys committed to excellence in a podcast that is always captivating. JD is an incredible host and he and Brendan do a great job at inviting guests with different points of view to make their reviews an intelligent back and forth rather than an hour and a half of bandwagon comments. If you’re a fan of cinema, you’ll love this podcast! P.S. always stick around after the outro music for the outtakes!

They like you. That's cool
Hey, so, whats up? Oh, I am supposed to write a review here, right? Ok, well, JD, Brendan and guests like to use words to talk about movies. These words form sentences. These sentences form reviews. These reviews are mostly good. The show could use more cowbell.

Movie Talk for Folks who like Movies
I enjoy to get feedback movie wise from a wide variety of regions, and InSession offers a unique perspective from a slightly more southern view than most movie podcasts. But the banter is still smart and informed and great for other cinephiles. One tiny critique would be some episodes feel a bit too long, but most of that time is filled with interesting movie discussions.
