Host isn’t good
I tried to listed to different episodes over the last 2 years and I find that it’s mostly filler. The host has an annoying way of talking and sharing. He laughs at his own non-jokes and they feel forced as if he forces himself to say something just to get a word in. I can’t finish any episode due to the host. He has no knowledgeable input but tries to appear as some guru entertainment entrepreneur. This podcast is mostly for entertainment since it would become overwhelming to think you really need to listed to thousands of hours of rambling to learn about the craft.
If you want to learn how to get through the mess of making a movie, work any position on a $2 million movie set. You’ll see the problem solving first hand. Then go write and make your own little movie and you’ll learn more than this show can sell you on.
Host isn’t in the film business. He’s in the podcast guru business. I really can’t stand listening to this guy. If only he could keep quiet and let the guest talk so maybe I can get some story nuggets for pure entertainment out of it. I dread listening to the episodes purely due to the host. He sounds like that guy who doesn’t get any women but tries to sell himself rapidly while talking to a new women and it comes off as desperate. And the nervous fake laughing and his own non-jokes. Really cringe at those. This podcast makes the film biz sound boring and defeating.
Here’s your answer how to make money off movies. Have an amazing script (very hard part) and offer half the budget to a known actor just to have a marketable name in the movie. Use this stuff to presale the movie and since it’s got potential distribution and potential name attached, use this to get investor money to pay for the movie. There, you are now a film entrepreneur. But you need the fantastic script first which is the hard part.

Good info but too many ads.
I like IFH. Alex does a really nice job interviewing some really interesting people who offer tons of advice. And that is why it gets 4 stars from me. BUT - the number of ad breaks have increased exponentially over the years. Everyone is allowed to make a buck, but at some point the ad breaks just become too much and it interferes with the enjoyment of listening to the show. I find myself hitting fast forward way too many times lately.

Nice! But please segue into commercials to avoid interrupting recordings of guests
Inspiring and informative stuff. I just started listening to this podcast because I saw that Alex Proyas was a guest, and The Crow is one of my favorite movies of all time. However, it was very irritating to hear the episode suddenly cut into Starbucks commercials when Mr. Proyas was literally MID-SENTENCE (and then pick up in the middle of his sentence after the commercials ended). Constructive feedback: Please edit episodes so that there is some sort of smooth segue into commercials. Otherwise, very solid and inspiring stuff. Thanks for putting it out there.

Not real love but the content you have given me to start my first script/story/actually creating it is the love I will continue to tell my friends I have for this PC as I share this with them!
To the powers behind this, THANK YOU! Mr Ferrari & every guest! The insight and understanding of the knowledge gained through your experience is relayed in such an easy to digest format and I can’t stop listening! I have been listening for about 4 months skipping around and trying to keep up. So happy I found this PC and as long as time and energy is on your side I will be grateful to keep listening!

Inspiring and informative
ALex is my go to, not just for filmmaking but for true inspiration. IMHO he is the guy who will lift you up when you feel it isnt working or it's too difficult. I can honestly say that he has been a driving force for the last 2-3 years. How cool will it be when someone says thank you to Alex, when they win their academy award. I hope they invite him to the party, because no doubt this day is coming soon. On another note, I recently met Alex at screenwriting gathering in Los Angeles, a rare appearance for this dedicated husband and father, and he is truly what he is on his podcast, friendly, familiar, cordial and funny and yes he laughs like that in person...brilliant. Thanks Alex. I look forward to thanking you from the podium.

Garbage Podcast with little relevent info
I've tried time and time again to listen to this podcast but it is just garbage. The host is annoying and tries to act like he has some great worldly knowledge when he has almost no informative experience or information to expel. He is a terrible interviewer, cuts off his guests frequently while they try to share REAL experience and worth while information only to tell some half baked joke or useless personal story that is barely relevant.
I've really forced myself through many episodes in the hope that it would grow on me but I found myself listening to a lecture from someone who knows almost nothing and often times cannot properly explain or educate the listener about the topic he is attempting to cover which is why many episodes are so short... which you think would be a good thing. But when 5 or more minutes of a 15 minute podcats is ads and promoting other crap while also not sharing relevant information...
it's aboslutely not worth my time or yours.

The 300th Ah oo Ah oo Ah oo
Thank you for episode 300. I was about to publicly spew the story of my life but I will say instead: as a lifelong artist starting out with so much confidence and so much current fear resulting from so many real life setbacks. The fear of putting out a mediocre work into the universe is what I am working on. Fear of being labeled AMATEUR....and the true challenge of raising 2 babies under 2 years old - well, this episode was really important. Good Choice, and thank you. It’s tough but on we press.

One of the best film podcasts ever.
IFH is a podcast that exists for several reasons . To inspire, to inform, to create. When people tackle something as film you need that support l to keep going. Alex Ferrari does just this. Tells us this is how you can achieve this, this is how you can take this task. He’s one of the most hardworking people I know and he still finds time to inform us and help the up and coming filmmakers.
I wasn’t a fan of podcasts, but you know how there’s one song, one movie, one article, one something that makes you take interest into the medium? IFH PODCAST was the one that got me into the podcast world. Thank you Alex thank you IFH. Keep it up, we’re all listening and want to get inspired.

Knowledge bombs and motivation
I started listening to Indie Film Hustle about 9 months ago when my commute time changed. I have now listened to over 150 of the podcasts. I listened to an episode early on that broke my heart. It was like a kick in the gut in a good way. Alex was interviewing a guest and they were talking about how difficult it is to make it in the film industry and you need talent and perseverance. I was really depressed for awhile and had to dig deep and see if I really wanted to follow this path. I kept listening to the podcast and on a subsequent episodes I felt reassured that it was worth the work and that Indie Film Hustle could be a great part of my education. Alex does a really great service with IFH and even though the podcast is for everyone he feels like a mentor and I am grateful for all the knowledge bombs he shares. I recently subscribed to IndieFilm TV and love the value for the subscription price.

#1 Filmmaking Podcast Eva
I've been an avid listener of Indie Film Hustle since the very beginning. I've been a filmmaker for nearly 20 years, however the lack of helpful information about the daily grind of being an indie filmmaker was severely lacking. In steps Alex Ferrari who breaks down the business of filmmaking into extremely helpful, digestable, and brilliant episodes. What I love most about the show are the amazing guests he has. These aren't Forbes 100 guests. Most of the guests down to earth producers, entrepanuers, filmmakers, and creative types who only a short while ago were in a my shoes, struggling to find their voice in a world of noise. The wealth of information shared on these episodes are absolutely essential listening to any aspiring filmmaker. Unknowing to Alex he has inspired me to finally direct/produce my first feature film as well as producing my own video blog sharing my experiences during this process. Keep on hustling!!!! - Nathan in MA.

Finally leaving a review after listening to over a hundred episodes
Sorry for leaving a review so late Alex, but now I'm here. I was like every other indie film maker. We talk about making films but never make them, let alone, write the script! This podcast has finally got me into writing all my short film ideas into scripts. Plus, I shot a simple one minute short film recently. It sounds like nothing, but I can't remember the last time I shot a short for myself. I usually just shoot for customers from my freelance videographer gig, but I'm never 100% in control. I feel inspired from every episode I listen to. If time goes by where I go a week without doing anything film related, I'll listen to this podcast to get some inspiration. Problems I run into is actually finding people who want to film, but that's networking I need to work on. Anyways, thanks for everything Alex and expect to see your name in the credits of every film I shoot in the future. Take care!

I've been looking for a filmmaking podcast with succinct, useful information from real world persons with experience, and this one hits the nail on the head. It covers a wide range of useful topics that anyone in the industry can benefit from. It's presented well, audio sounds great, and doesn't waste your time with drawn out intros and banter like others I've listened to.
The variety of topic lengths is also nice. Good for when I don't have an hour and a half to listen, but can digest a nice 15 or 20 minute topic when I can. I listen mostly while I sift through footage for selects of the corporate and wedding films I produce.

Great ideas indie filmmakers may not know
I am a huge movie crypt fan, but sometimes want more information than what their podcast gives. This is a great addition that goes over financing, distribution, and other concepts filmmakers should know before walking onto a set. For many films it is not as simple as picking up a camera and saying action. You have to know the journey before and after.

Something to Ponder!
As a filmmaker, you consistently ask the question “How do I do this?” So, we read books, buy the blu-ray boxset to watch all BTS. Even listen to a podcast or two. All in the effort to discover the holy grail of information that will soar our careers to stardom.
However, What I truly value about this podcast isn’t its ability to the answer the question. But, how it gives you the question - “Why do I do this?” As a host, Alex has a way with talking the language with other filmmakers and charmingly inches nuggets of gold out of the sand. If you’re a filmmaker eager to learn what it truly means to hustle in this business while understanding that people and relationships is what makes your success; then this is podcast is just for you.

Loved Dov Simens! What a great guest!
It was so refreshing to hear some straight talk around indie filmmaking from a true master and veteran in the game. I feel like this podcast was the equivalent to having a pitcher of ice cold water thrown in my face. It was hurtful, but more helpful than anything. I am truly starting to get that this is a hustle on a lot of levels. Keep up the great work, Alex!

Good Stuff!
I just finished listening to the latest episode and the production quality is solid, but most importantly the content is extremely valuable. Looking forward to watching and listening how this podcast series grows.

One of the better Indie Film Podcasts
Being a DP coming from commercial and documentary work, listening to this podcast has helped me think about certain things I normally would not have. Great information totally worth the time. I’d recommend to any indie filmmaker. They are short, sweet and to the point.
