I Love this Podcast the Way Murphy Loves Gina Raimondo
This is hands-down my favorite political podcast. Unmatched political insight. I can’t get enough of these guys! They also get fantastic guests, and do an excellent job of picking the right topics each week. Their greatness is as consistent as Murphy making a joke about illegal voting in Chicago. So good that I often listen twice!

Sound Quality
Oftentimes it is difficult to hear the podcast because your guests and Axlerod don’t speak clearly. Kristol and Axelrod’s voices drift away. Heileman talks way too quickly. It is frustrating to listen.

Tim Scott?
Murphy u are one of my favorite pundits but your take on being hopeful bout Tim Scott being only non grievance candidate misses the mark. He demagogues religion and thinks Biden is leading us to civil war for Fs sake. It’s ok everyone has blind spot

The VERY Best Political Commentary
I listen to 20 pods a week, and hats off to the team! This is the most balanced political analysis anywhere. These guys are mature pros and know how the pols operate. They know the genuine from the real. The team balances the right amount of pragmatism with the understanding that nothing is a given.

HEY AXELROD: STOP INTERRUPTING!
This could be a great podcast if Axelrod would simply stop butting in. It’s amazing how often he thinks what he has to interject will be better than what a guest or other host is saying. Almost always, it’s NOT. Just shut up and let the other people talk. Let them make their point. Let them finish their sentences for crying out loud! And if you’re going to host a podcast, take a speech class. Get rid of all the “and…uh…you know…” which populates so much of your “conversation.”. I’m giving up on this unless and until Axelrod can make a major upgrade in how he communicates.

Too many commercials
Like the pod. Don’t agree with everything, but who should?! I know you guys have gotten a lot of growth lately, but this last episode is just crazy loaded with commercials. It’s too much. 5 stars for now, but man ya’ll need to either cut back on your commercial slots, or jack up the ad prices. You are selling way too much inventory. If you don’t want to do that, then release shorter episodes more frequently. Sincerely, A fan.

Your house is now run by fascists - it amazes me that you still try to have conversations as if it is politics as normal! Wake up - the fascists are in power and you have an ignorant, stupid electorate - you need to be more straight forward with listeners and stop having completely irrelevant discussions instead of telling it as it really is!!

Tim Scott
Too much discussion of Tim Scotin last podcast. I live in SC. Scott has not held a town hall in my part of the state if not the whole state since before 2016. He will never be nominated for president. His only message is that his mother worked 16 hrs a day so he could get where he is and then votes against everything that help people like his mother. He has voted no on almost every bipartisan bill passed in the congress. He is a profile in cowardice and will not be nominated.

I’m a non-Trump Republican in Calif. and love this podcast because it’s a good counterweight to the conservative pods I mostly listen to. The team bends over backwards to explain away Biden’s screwups and gaffes, so it’s always informative and entertaining. Frustrating
I normally enjoy bipartisan podcasts. I am a middle of the road, center-left voter. I find this podcast so annoying. It should be called “Grumpy Old Men”. I have listened to it for over a year, hoping it would get better. Axe always caves to Murphy. And Murphy is embarrassingly wrong so often. Murphy is inhaling so much hopium for his old party and twists facts to make them fit the narrative he wants, not reality. Just disappointing overall.

Good insights from smug white guys
This show is often worth listening to, but their perspectives are very much conventional wisdom from the dominant political class on either side of the spectrum. More diverse guests would be appreciated to balance out their traditional approaches. (Gibbs can sometimes be counted on to shake things up, which is helpful.) Hoping to hear Axe and Murphy eat a little crow for how wrong they were on the 2022 midterms.

Republican?
Why can’t shows cast an actual Republican or Conservative? Instead, it’s Anna Navarro, Jennifer Ruban, Bill Kristol, or this guy; Conservatives who allowed Trump to break them and now seemingly have no conservative opinions whatsoever. I love shows with a nice mix of the left and right but they have to actually be members of that party. Btw, Robert Gibbs was an insufferable boob as press secretary. Shockingly, Jay Carney was even worse.

Education and Vote
From what I get from listening to my GOP friends, it's more than GOP people think that teachers are teaching their kids liberal subjects and messing with their kid's heads on issues that have to do with transgender, gays, and politics. It's not so much the COVID lockdown issues. I heard about the education stuff before COVID; that was just the topping on a topic they were already mad about.

Double Dive (10/18/22 Ep.)
I have never written a podcast review and am confident I won’t again. As a loyal listener since the pod’s formation, and a successful proselytizer of the pod’s brilliance to my old man (67 years old and stubborn - but, in this case, he proved he could still be a convert to his wise son’s advice), I felt compelled to answer your call to action to leave a review answering your questions posed at the end of the pod: whether the Oct. 18th’s episode’s deep dive into the politics and campaigns ongoing within a specific state was an enjoyable listen? And if so, is that something the Hacks on Tap team should include more of in future pods? I’ll answer your requests for feedback in that order. 1. The Double Dive episode was absolutely fantastic, incredibly engaging and, more than that, very insightful. This episode was a perfect score. Congrats to your entire team for continuing to pursue new avenues of delivering in-depth political analysis in a manner that is comfortably distilled for all listeners to end each podcast episode more knowledgeable about the landscapes and trends of current national politics than all of us were when we pressed play on our phones to cue the unmistakable sounds of the Hacks on Tap intro. 2. Then again, we are not a national politic, instead we are a sign-up-to-play-mis-mash-rec-league-roster of states’ politics that have no resemblance to one another in many peculiar and unique ways. (The country is a tapestry right? Or so they say…) Which is why: YES, by golly - yes, yes indeed: your team should absolutely look to schedule more local news reporters (like the expert journalists from Nevada and Georgia, respectively, interviewed on Double Dive episode) from states where there are impactful or just merely interesting races or other political events that could have outsized impacts on federal politics - now and in the near future. 3. But I won’t stop there and I will press forward to humbly suggest the Hacks on Tap team avoid limiting such state-centric deep dives to just the last days of a campaign or the immediate election cycle. A deep dive into a state’s politics that are, at the time, affecting the federal political landscape could be a reoccurring component of podcast episodes. It is apparent that everyone involved with the Hacks on Tap enterprise cares deeply and fundamentally about encouraging, and maybe even revitalizing, reasoned political discussion (both in tone and in willingness to listen to alternative viewpoints) that informs larger audiences and juices civic engagement across all levels of politics and in every way possible, big or small, registering to vote or filing for candidacy. If I am right, that part of the podcast’s core mission does in fact include such noble aspirations, then the Hacks on Tap team accomplished that mission in the Double Dive episode better than the podcast has ever done before. So, yes: absolutely do more state-based deep dives and don’t hold them to just this election cycle, rather continue on past that with more state deep dives long after the cable news tv trucks have pulled away from the various battleground states and the last votes have been tallied. Why? Because it’s genuinely fascinating to get a brief glimpse into a state’s political dynamic and how the events or voters of one state could affect the issues, elections or even legislative majorities at the Federal level. After all, we are talking about the 50 different laboratories of American Democracy. Kudos to everyone involved with then hardworking team at the Hacks on Tap team for doing an incredible job on the Double Dive episode. Great work on this episode and the podcast at large; simply fantastic, well done. Long time listener and last time reviewer wishing you all my best, Michael Sullivan (Eastern Shore of Maryland)

I am appaulled by the republican leaning on this panel who did NOT even mention the overturning of Roe as a main factor in this election. Your ignorance and dismissal of women and their rights is shocking. You are middle aged white men who just don’t get it - your main court have said to 50% of your population that they are less than. Centrism and democratic bedwetting
Axelrod and Gibbs are way past their prime. Applying 2004 centrism to every issue is nauseating and only cements them as the old gaurd-out of touch and lacking in spine and conviction. You’ll hear them constantly bedwetting about a myriad of dem issues, repeatedly critiquing every movement away from centrism and constantly amplifying trumps importance while diminishing Biden’s/Dems accomplishments. These guys are what we call “the blob” and it’s time for them to retire and reminisce about the glory days lol.

Out of touch
I’ve found this show entertaining from time to time and I appreciate the cordial nature of the somewhat contrasting partisans , but this exhibits not only how extremely close the two parties are on economic issues ( The fact that Rahm Emmanuel and Mike Murphy agree on everything would have FDR rolling in his grave) , but also shows how political consultancy and punditry has completely replaced movement building and organizing. Somebody needs to tell these guys that actual Good Governing , the kind that delivers immediate measurable and tangible material benefit is the best way to not only win an election , but save a dying a country. What good is messaging when the winners don’t deliver the goods? All the talk about peeling away a tiny slice of the other party or the mystical “ Middle “ is a slap in the face to those have suffered economically for decades and have lost the will to participate , which is the majority of America . More FDR and less Rahm Emmanuel please!

Fun and informative political news
One of my favorite podcasts -- look forward to it every Wednesday. Decades of U.S. political ops experience between the three hacks and they share it every week. I like the variety: because there are three hosts, they share responsibility and there is often a different mix if one or two of them are on vacation or off doing something else. Could be all three hosts, any two of the three in different combinations, or one with a special guest. I think that keeps it fresh. They all have a keen sense of humor and tease each other about their political backgrounds and left vs. right leanings. Mike Murphy is especially funny. There's a "Listener Mailbag" segment at the end where they take questions from listeners. Tip: sign up for a very good email newsletter. P.S. The music is good and fun to sing along to!

Good discussions, personalities
Generally good discussions of the political game and the players. I would like more analysis of the motivations and strategies (or lack of strategy) of politicians. Examples- what’s stopping Biden admin from being better communicators in face of the critiques? Can Republicans functionally govern absent any economic principles? How many of these Republican candidates and social campaigns are driven by grift of the candidate or the operatives?

I’m a moderate from Grosse Pointe, Mi who currently lives in Chicago (i.e. not costal) and works in advertising. I listen to this podcast now and again when I feel like torturing myself with politics. Based on my experience, the hosts ramble on and repeat a lot of the same takes and bad/outdated jokes. Only reason I was compelled to write a review is because the more conservative host compared “the green new deal” to a proposed (?) law in Idaho that would allow a rapist or the family member of a rapist to sue their victim if she aborts the fetus (from the rape). Probably the most offensive false equivalencies of all time.

Too both-sidesy for me, but that’s the whole point
Very entertaining (except for the ads). And if you have a guest who’s a lobbyist or has a secret agenda, that pretty much tanks that contribution. Please, no more Karl Rove, Steve Israel, or Tony Fabrizio. Groan. Also, most politicians or ex-politicians are boring. 3.5 stars really because it can be so infuriating, but rounding up. Honestly I’m not a fan of some of Rahm Emanuel’s politics, but he’s one of the most entertaining and candid guests. Those episodes are always super informative and entertaining. Now where it gets annoying is when they start calling out the left for their “lack of support” for the current president. (Or activists in Georgia). Wow. When all progressives have done is be supportive, and the ones diminishing the president’s power have been Manchin etc, and Gottheimer. Clearly holding the two bills together was the only way both would pass (who is talking about the Infrastructure bill now as a big win?), but the progressives took the risk, kudos to them. And what would inspire them to ever try again to compromise? No good faith from Joe (M). It’s mostly Murphy (whom I like and is the driving force of the show), but annoyingly Gibbs piles in too. Axe is finally starting to see the light and has defended progressives more than I could ever dream of. Make the show longer. It always feels rushed!!

But I just stopped in the middle of this week’s episode to echo other listeners. Murphy - STOP WITH THE COMRADE label. Please STOP. It’s so overly gratuitous it makes every hair on my body stand.

Listen every week and love the perspective. America needs more thinkers and less emotional trolls out to own the other side. Really insightful nuance thinking with a great sense of humor which adds entertainment value. Highly recommended!

Tired.
The Democrats being “Commies” shtick wasn’t terribly funny or original from Murphy at the outset of the podcast. Now as the Republican Party is being run by a dangerous fascistic clique headed by a former reality star, it’s way past time to knock it off. That and the constant talking over that goes on while points are being made has made me finally get frustrated enough to unsubscribe and leave a negative review. The point of a podcast is to be engaging and informative and it’s undermined greatly when you’ve got a host constantly “negging” what’s surely more than 50% of the audience. Hope it improves but I’m not counting on it.

One of my favorite pods but…
I am so sick of hearing Murphy describe Republicans as “knuckleheads” while referring to all Democrats as “comrades.” I get that he has a role to play as the conservative voice, but that is absolutely ridiculous. Using terms like knucklehead greatly diminishes the danger of these p-o-s’s.

Informative podcast
I have looked forward to this podcast every week. I love to see such brilliant political hacks - who represent opposing political sides - genuinely have fun with such thought-provoking conversations. I think the podcast goes downhill fast by inviting guests who are overly critical of anything President Biden has done or believe he should have done. (These are great examples of the political “stalemate” in our federal government. I usually turn off the podcast when this happens: too painful to listen to.)Please keep the old-guard, terribly-biased Republican guests off your podcast.

Murphy and Axelord make the show
Murphy and Axelrod are great together. The quality of the podcast is greatly diminished when Gibbs is on. You can tell that Axelrod are really political operatives. You can also tell that Gibbs was flak with no experience running a campaign. Their guests are a hit or miss proposition. More Murphy and Axe together would make the podcast one of the best. Less of the inarticulate Murphy would improve the show immensely. Get rid of Gibbs.

Gave up on it
I mostly enjoyed this show for several months. However after tolerating Mike Murphy’s “humorous” insinuations and name calling one time too many, I unfollowed. Listen Mike, Democrats are not socialists. Chicagoans are not crooks. The Lincoln Project is not merely a craven money grab. I respect the fact that you lost your career because you couldn’t stomach Trump. But your Commie schtick is tiresome.

No more talking-points talking-heads
First time I’ve ever turned off a HoT episode after 10 minutes. What makes this podcast normally so good, is the insightful, respectful, no-spin discussion, from different political perspectives. John Anzalone was one administration talking point after the next, most with a high giggle-factor. I can go anywhere to get that. Let’s keep the talking-points talking-heads off HoT.

Tone deaf on Afghanistan
The jokes on this show are always tedious and often get in the way of the good political analysis. Murphy tells different versions of the same lame joke over and over, based on Axe being a “commie” or something. But the show really jumped the shark in the Afghanistan episode. No matter where you stand on the policy, Afghanistan is a tragedy involving the immense suffering of millions of innocent Afghans and thousands of US and NATO soldiers. It was sickening to hear all the hosts joking around and using their hack jargon to talk about it like it’s just another garden variety inside the beltway controversy. Murphy’s dismissive and inaccurate slur against the Afghan people “They just want to kill infidels” was offensive. And how can you do jokey commercial intros in this context. I think these hosts have valuable political insights to offer and the political implications of Afghanistan are important. But, PLEASE, adopt a different tone when the situation calls for When you are talking about a unfolding human catastrophe, no jokes, no commercials, no glib political insults. A lot more respect, humility and empathy is called for.

Would love to grab a beer with these guys. refreshing to hear both sides of the conversation without screaming 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Updated my rating.... the Rs on this podcast often come off as hypocritical and mysogynistic. Criticizing Democrats viciously while ignoring or writing off their own party’s flaws altogether. Mike M criticizes AOC and Kamala with the fires of 1000 suns, yet I’ve never heard him say one critical thing of Kristi Noem or Nikki Haley. Really disappointing stuff, not sure how much longer I’ll stick around. Update #2: lost star for Karl Rove... I just can’t. What a garbage human being Update #3: more al franken. VP disparagement
Love “Hacks on Tap” but am slightly alarmed about what seeps into the podcast by Mike Murphy is his apparent personal dislike of VP Harris. Not sure what it is that causes him to twist the knife every chance he gets, but starting to turn me off a little from being a loyal listener. I don’t perceive it as misogyny, or at least I hope not. Otherwise, I enjoy varying perspectives of political strategies and opinions from both parties to tone down my own (left center) biases.

This podcast got me through the 2020 election, the GA runoff, and the insurrection without activating my anxiety. Axe, Gibbs, and Murphy provided enough nuance and context to actually make me feel both informed and calmer—and it’s the only political podcast I can say that about. I was really looking forward to someone from the Obama administration standing up to the obstructionists in our government. Sadly, Mike and his “R” friends will stop at nothing as long as they don’t have their way... Detailed analysis of one side the argument
If you want thoughtful discussion from both sides of the aisle, you can skip this podcast. Axelrod won’t criticize any democratic politicians or positions. Murphy never calls him out and is lousy at explaining any republican position. Both will rant against Fox News but neither will say anything bad about CNN, MSNBC or NBC. Trump is personally responsible for all 600k deaths? How is that accepted as fact when mask and lockdown data don’t seem to follow any pattern? The bright spot is Robert Gibbs who will give great analysis of both sides before explaining why the Democrats are on the correct side.

great show !!!!
huge fan - civil, informed, funny discourse between two pro pols on different sides of the aisle with top tier guests. you’d be hard pressed to find another podcast of this caliber. almost every episode i walk away with a new perspective or a new take, or considering something i’d never thought of (generally compliments of axelrod) real quick i just wanted to roast Mike Murphy for his line on the 5-25-21 episode “Infrastructure Week?” w Rahmbo on as guest. when Murphy challenged hizzoner da mare to a bet w chicago food as the prize, in reference to the best chicago pizza he un-confidently says what sounds like the word “peh-kwah”. I doubt anybody besides a chicago resident or foodie would catch that it’s more than likely a fumbled pronunciation of Pequod’s (pea-quads) a locally-known deep dish place famous for a layer of burnt cheese on the crust (delicious). the whole take reeked of someone googling chicago deep dish places and not doing much else besides a cursory glance at the results. pro tip - youtube local stuff, that way you’ll be able to hear the legitimate and locally authentic phonetic pronunciation. for someone who’s been in the game as long as he has, i’m wincing at Murph for what should’ve been an easy layup.

Two great personalities
Update: Even better and more valuable post election, post insurrection, and (hopefully) as the post-Trump era reveals itself. When serious, these guys will sometimes remind you that there is a core of serious, high-minded, and competent men and women in politics. They also call out the cynics, fools and grifters. Great show! This is a really fine podcast. You get realism, frank opinions, sharp insight, and honesty (no spin) from two seasoned, successful political operatives. I have enjoyed every episode. David Axelrod is perhaps the most reflective and thoughtful commentator around, and Murphy seems to have real expertise in media and presentation. You’ll enjoy it!!

The show is not the same when Murphy is not there to spar with Axe and Gibbs. Liked it until Murphy devolved into a right-wing bore
I enjoyed the pod for a long time. There use to be sharp, interesting conversation. But Mike Murphy returned to what must have been his form, whining about “identity politics” (anything not white male identity politics, it turns out), hauling out tired old GOP talking points, being both lame and sometimes offensive, to be honest. Unlike other Never-Trumpers, who have for the most part taken impressive stances on Democratic reform, Murphy thinks a bit of voter suppression is OK. After that, I’m out. I had to unsubscribe. I appreciate the earlier days, though!

My favorite podcast
I listen to many podcasts, Hacks on Tap is my favorite! When a new episode is available, that is the first podcast I listen to. I love their in depth experience learned internal political insights on the topics they talk of. Axe’s calm measured response is a perfect foil to Murphy’s hilarious lightning fast quips. So much fun to listen to and enjoy! Thank you!

Lively Engaging Comversation
Who knew Republicans and Democrats could engage in civilized, thoughtful conversation? Couple that with the long term political strategy experience and its Hacks on Tap for the WIN! One suggestion, the lists of podcasts is a bit disorganized. Reformatting the podcasts beginning with the most recent, would make it a lot easier to find a prior podcast. Right now the podcast dates don’t appear to follow a discernible pattern.

Smart, mostly truthful, pros
“Mostly truthful” is meant as a compliment in this day and age in politics. This is a fun yet serious look at current political events from veterans on opposite sides of the isle. Could do with less Emanuel though. Sorry but he brings too much gratuitous partisan stuff.

Interesting
This is an interesting podcast. Axelrod is a keeper of the flame for Obama. It always has to be kept in mind that this is behind some of what he says. But he’s fun to listen to. I’m always surprised how wrong some of Murphy’s predictions are, given how savvy he sounds. He was absolutely sure Harris would not be tapped to be veep...he cited an inside source despite her being an obvious choice.

My favorite political podcast. Funny and informative. Murphy, I have been saying ever since McConnell coined the phrase “Blue State Bailout” that CA should threaten to secede. I love this podcast. There is no better combination than Murphy and Axe on air. BUT - Heilemann is a TERRIBLE guest. Not because of content, his observations are spot on. Mike, Please Lead Reconciliation
I love your podcast, and each of your respective contributions to it. So Mike Murphy, this is not a personal attack on you. However you were an advocate of voting for the GOP Senate candidates in the GA runoff election as both of those candidates were echoing Trump’s lies about the Nov. 3 election. You said you would have to hold your nose...but essentially that politics and having a check on Democrats was more important than principle - so you would vote GOP if you were a GA resident. Can you now stand up and clearly say that you were wrong, and that basic fundamental ethics and morality is more important than retail politics? If you can’t get out front and say this, we are truly screwed because if you can’t do it how can we think any of the GOP conspiracy supporters can ever issue a mea culpa? Please lead here, front and center. Respectfully, A Regular Listener

Soothing and smart
I like hearing these two old (sorry!) political veterans offering their take on all aspects of electoral politics. With the 2020 outcome it’s clear though that a new generation of hacks is emerging. Funny, interesting, smart, good dialogue. Their dynamic is low-key entertaining. Mike Murphy is funny and ultimately his raison d’etre for the entire podcast will pay off with the nomination of Gina Raimondo as Commerce Secretary. Great work Mike!

I’m a NE Democrat elite. I’ve made tons of money. I want to help people. But these people do not want help. This Podcast Keeps Me Sane
These are difficult times for people who love Democracy and see it threatened by the current (soon to be former) administration. Axelrod is a the Democratic campaign manager who got Obama to the White House. Murphy is the Republican who ran John McCain's campaign. The one thing they agree on is that Trump's got to go. But even if you're a Trump fan, their insights and shop talk about political strategy are always fascinating.

Think ‘Axe & Friends’
I started out listening to Axe Files almost 5 years ago, then added Hacks-on-Tap this past year, and haven’t regretted it one bit. The premise, 2 experienced political hacks from across the aisle working together (dare I say, enjoying one another’s company?), is one our country needs to see play out again and again. The addition of former Obama WH Press Secretary, Robert Gibbs, was just gravy — he’s such a tremendous wordsmith, I sometimes just enjoy listening to him articulate ideas. But most importantly, these guys are real patriots who believe in American democracy and the power of institutions to create and maintain a better and more just world. Kudos!!

Fake balance
The premise of hacks on tap is that each represents one side of the political divide. Not so. One hates trump a lot and the other hates him even more. And they get a guest hack who is also a staunch liberal. This is pointless. There is a large audience that craves balanced analysis of the current political landscape but this show which purports to deliver exactly that fails abysmally.

This crew is real life and I throughly enjoy it. The theme of pals having beers and talking - and who don’t robotically mirror one another nor their Party - but get in the weeds just enough to help explain opposition stances and outcomes - is great. I really love this show and listen to every episode as soon as it comes out. One thing that gets very frustrating though is how no one can finish a sentence. It's just a long series of one person interrupting and/or talking over the other one. David, Mike, Robert (who's actually not such an interrupter but most often the interrupted) and their guests have such important and informed perspectives -- especially for a novice like me -- but half the time I never get to hear the full thought since they can't finish it! C'mon guys, stop the constant fighting for the spotlight!

Great Analysis but Totally Left
Axelrod is a genius. But this show is NOT bipartisan. Murphy represent an expired Rino ideology so out of fashion and irrelevant among the new Republican party (Trump’s Republican brand is here to stay). It might be good to have some relevant representation from the right. Axelrod however is still on point with his thoughts and analysis. Murphy is completely out of touch to the current state of mind on the right (he should switch parties already). 5 stars for Axe. 0 for Mike. Oh and btw Gentleman, your bubble is about to burst - and its going to be spectacular.

The BEST political podcast!
The hosts are insightful and fun! Living in these insane, stressful times, this is the one podcast where you get the “inside story” and unvarnished truth...and it leaves you feeling good. Great job Murphy and Axe! And love some of your guest Hackeroos, especially Rahm Emanuel.

Great podcast-good combo of data analysis and communications analysis. Goes just deep enough into numbers without getting tedious. Love the anecdotes and colloquialisms (mainly from Murphy but also from Axe).

Whatever Axe does seems to turn to gold. His book is outstanding. His political analysis is unmatched. Murphy may be the most hilarious guy on any podcast. I never get tired of listening to Heilman and Gibbs.

Think Shields and Brooks...
...deep fried with some hot sauce and cold beer to wash it down...great political commentary infused with a kindred spirit and healthy dose of self-mockery; the kind of give and take that is sorely needed in these perilous times - and apart from being informative - is always good for many laughs. Great show - and finally a resting place for Hacks ready to embrace their true identity!

This is such a quality podcast. It’s honestly helped keep me sane for the last few months of complete mental meltdown. I love the experience of all the hosts. I think Mike Murphy is a hoot and I often find myself laughing out loud (amazing for a political podcast). They have great guests who have also have so much insider knowledge. I’ve told a bunch of friends about it and they all love it too. Five stars all around!!

Real experts!
Notwithstanding their self-christening as “hacks”, Axe and Murphy are seasoned pros. And that’s precisely what I love about them. They don’t make baseless assertions - all their analysis comes from years of experience, on both ends of the political spectrum. So I trust them. And they don’t pander (pandering is why, even as a liberal, I’ve lost respect for the NYT, etc.). Personally, I prefer the wisdom of these hosts to Pod Save America (which is ooooh-kay), for example.

Terrific podcast
My favorite podcast. Axelrod is a great foil for Murphy . . . or is it the other way around? Whatever. What's important is that their chemistry is kinetic and really enjoyable. These days when I, and so many others, want to cry over the state of our politics, it's refreshing to add a little humor (and insight) to our autocratic-adjacent state of political affairs. Actually, that's not funny, but these guys are both fun and informative. Even though I don't drink alcohol, I'll hoist a Dr. Pipp, Pepsi or lemonade 'on tap' with them any day.
