One of the best podcasts. Period.
Rating this podcast lower than 5 stars is directly correlated to the rater’s IQ being so low, that if multiplied by 5, the person would still drool on their knee when tying their shoe. I don’t have the DOI for the study because my dog ate it.

Good info but please slow down
A lot of good information here but too fast. She’s talking to a highly educated crowd and not to the layman. But she STILL needs to SLOW DOWN! Listen to Dr. Steven Gundry to learn how to talk to your listeners and get your points across. Thank you.

Great interviews but…
Terrible sound quality. Most listening takes place in the car and the volume levels during some recordings varies from barely audible to distorting the speakers. Makes for uncomfortable listening whilst driving.

Meh
I loved her on Joe Rogan’s podcast because he could facilitate/navigate the conversation for the listeners who are not academic, to put a nice bow on what she was saying. She does not help break down what her guest speakers are saying on more involved topics so that a lay person can better understand. Or maybe I’m just dumb. Lol.

Credibility
The Covid-19 episode is not going to age well. What was advertised to be an open minded and non-biased look at Covid 19 and treatments, is anything but a promotional episode for the MRNA treatments. There is so much rambling to try and justify the safety of the vaccines and downplay other treatments that could reduce hospitalizations. If HCQ and Ivermectin (proved safe over decades) had not been demonized early in the pandemic we would have reduced deaths by as much as 75%. Instead only the vaccines have been pushed. What about fitness, nutrition, reducing comorbidities, natural immunity of those that have recovered, and herd immunity? So professionals that have participated in that demonizing narrative have serious credibility issues. This episode cherry picks studies that promote the vaccines only…not really open minded and fair balanced. Using the slice of cheese analogy, your episode encourages people to only rely on the vaccine slice of cheese. I think you have a political bias and you don’t even realize it. That’s not good medicine.

FACTS!
I love that Dr. Rhonda is so ethical! She is NEVER willing to make a claim she can not back up. As a microbiologist myself, it has been EXTREMELY frustrating seeing everyone think they understand scientific research, make harsh claims and bizarre speculations (with non-ethical sources or zero evidence to support these claims), and worst of all attack other people because they don’t understand or refuse to understand! Reading the comments was just a slice of how ignorant and nasty people really are! Thank you for sharing such an elaborate podcast! I can’t express this enough! It’s long overdue that the right people started talking to the public about this information 🙏🏽 little do people realize we would not have the population we have with out vaccinations 🙄 uhhh!

EXCELLENT
Thank you for all the excellent work you and your guests produce. I am not on any social media, so I loved your episodes on COVID and the myths. I cannot believe the negative comments I read, and I just read a few. Your thoughtful, unbiased, and thorough explanations helped me be more understanding to people that fear the vaccine. I can see how data can be misused or misunderstood. I avoid prescription drugs whenever possible due to several severe and permanent side effects from previous medications. However I got the vaccine even though I knew with my history and chemical sensitivities I would be more susceptible to serious side effects. Vaccines are taken for the larger community, and this virus has its own set of serious crap. THANK YOU AGAIN FOR SUCH GREAT, INTELLECTUAL, AND HEARTFELT WORK. I will definitely share the COVID episodes and believe they will shed light in these troubled and divisive times.

Love Rhonda Patrick
I really do enjoy and take in Dr. Rhonda Patrick’s info and content both on here and the JRE. But this latest episode on vaccines is pretty confusing. She claims that vaccines are so safe, and she almost blows off every death that’s come from the vaccine saying the reporting is wrong and is coronation not causing. And Yet she doesn’t eat sugar because it could potentially could cause issues in 50 years but then this covid 19 vaccine has been out less than a year and she is claiming it’s 99.9999999% safe. How does she know?… has there been 50 years on research on this? Mass amounts of a new mRNA vaccine given to billions of people. No there hasn’t…. If I eat sugar for a year it’s going to be safe but down the road it’s going to cause all sorts or issues and possibly be the reason of death. But ya know these vaccines that have been out for 4 seconds and haven’t even see hardly any long term studies but Rhonda claims are safe. Terrible advice and totally a political issue for Rhonda. If that wasn’t a political opinion podcast then she wouldn’t have talked about it being a political issue at the beginning of the covid 19 vaccine podcast. I wish scientists would actually be honest and let us know the truth and the facts. But also that there hasn’t been long term studies and you should go about it with your own risk and look at all options. That is not what was said in the episode.

Used to like you but you are clearly now a robot in the machine. Nothing is clear cut and so if you can not acknowledge any points by the other side you are clearly not unbiased. No side is 100% right so when you suggest that a side is 100% wrong you are tipping your hand as a shill. It was Tim Ferriss that first turned me on to you but fair or not I now question his judgement.

Used to Love This Podcast
Dr. Rhonda Patrick has been great in many areas of health. However, when it comes to COVID, she has so obviously dropped the ball. I can’t figure out is she truly isn’t understanding the real data or if she is ignoring it to toe the party line but, either way, I can no longer trust her health analyses and judgements. There are many of other great doctors and phds that provide similar information while also being truthful about COVID and the vaccines and I will listen to them instead.

Rational, Reliable, essential information
I found out about Dr Rhonda Patrick thanks to the JRE, I always love listening to her content, she like Dr Andrew Weil for me, is one of a handful of people who views and approaches health the way I thought all medical doctors should. She’s always putting out incredible content with the best resources. Every time I think of anything related to health I first search what information & resources Dr Rhonda Patrick has related to the subject and I’m never disappointed. She’s incredibly thorough, and extremely intelligent in her approach to researching and sharing information.

This Podcast Might Help Save Your Life
Dr. Rhonda Patrick is fulfilling an important need in her “Found My Fitness” podcast that has been neglected by contemporary society—translating the complex research of medical expertise into language that is understandable to the general public. The consequences of this neglect are devastating. The common person is inundated with so much conflicting information that they find themselves in a state of perpetual confusion. The typical reaction to complexity is resignation or opportunism—give up or cherrypick those pieces of information that justify preexisting preferences. Dr. Patrick rolls us a ball of twine out of this precarious labyrinth Western Medicine has in general taken a fatalistic approach to the ailments that are the consequence of its emotionally stressful, artificially nourished, sedentary lifestyle. The result is a massively expensive and elaborate medical infrastructure designed to mitigate and manage the effects of chronic disease. What is so refreshing about Dr. Patrick’s approach to medicine is her focus on addressing the causes, the “onset before the onset” of chronic diseases. In her podcast she lucidly outlines the science of well-being, one topic at at time, to demonstrate how each behavior and lifestyle factor contributes to our health and well-being. Whether sleep, nutrition, exercise, or various non-pharmacological interventions such as sauna, cold therapy, or fasting, Dr. Patrick distills an exhaustive body of peer-reviewed research to a set of fundamental truths for the listener to consider applying in their own lives. Perhaps most impressively, Dr. Patrick has responded to the challenge of the COVID-19 crisis by providing her listeners with guidance for strengthening their immune systems and avoiding chronic disease caused by COVID. Dr. Patrick’s interview with Dr. Roger Seheult on proactive measures one can take to bolster one’s immune system in the fight against COVID are particularly salient. Dr. Patrick has long been advocating for the importance of Vitamin D supplementation, and research into the importance of Vitamin D in the prevention and mitigation of COVID finds her message vindicated more strongly than ever.

It seems like some of the interviews have gotten deleted, which is a real bummer because I have wanted to go back and re-listen to some and also share them. It looks like you have more available on YouTube, but I really love the convenience of the podcast format. Real science
Great scientific info by someone who actually does the research and understands it well. But the narration is just too fast, and even the interviews can be hard too follow for a layperson at this pace when so many scientific terms are thrown out. I’d prefer a more conversational pace. UPDATE: I started listening to more recent episodes (I like to start with older ones first), and Rhonda has slowed down considerably and is so much easier to follow as she’s adopted a more conversational style.

Great information, poor delivery
Rhonda has all the best information, but it comes with a caveat; She isn’t a very good public speaker and is especially hard to listen to when she’s reading something. When she reads, she makes common mistakes such as inserting pauses in uncomfortable places, using a monotone speaking voice, and robotic dictation. On top of that, she will often use a slightly higher pitch/volume which makes her sound like she is trying to command the attention of an audience she has already earned the attention of. It’s early in her career as a podcast host so I hope she gets this ironed out and can chill a bit and learn to speak casually.

Great blog not podcast. Holistic Health News better
Listen I have a podcast and I understand how this stuff works. She is reading her article. The article that she writes thoroughly researched and therefore is great as an article on a website or blog but it’s horrible entertainment value to read your article. No some would say that it’s not supposed to be entertaining but that is nonsense. The point of a podcast is to share content but to be engaging. So yes you definitely learn something when listening to her podcast and I don’t blame her for having a podcast because she’s going to make tons of money off of revenue from it but let’s be honest. She’ll be much better in reading her article but then adding anecdotes or funny stories. Holistic health news is a similar alternative health naturoapathy podcast. And that guy sometimes reads off the articles but he adds insight in funny stories and he shows his personality and charm. That’s what she needs to do.

She doesn’t sound natural
I first heard Rhonda interviewed on JRE. On there she was smart and funny with a delightful personality, which made me want to check out her show. I wish she sounded as natural on her own podcast. She gives great info here, but the podcast falls short on the way she presents her topics. It’s obvious that she’s reading to her audience instead of having a conversation with them. I wish she had a co-host to help her create a more natural conversation complete with personal stories and topical humor.

Girl’s a genius!
Here’s a podcast that truly legitimizes the medium. Dr Patrick focuses on general health, longevity, and the intricate balance between health and human performance. Every human being on this pale blue dot needs to listen to her and apply her advice and strategies...if we did, we would collectively put and end to chronic disease...effectively severing our self-imposed, ignorance-driven “dependence” on big Pharma, big Medicine, big Insurance, and big Government.

Scientifically credible health and wellness podcast
I am interested in health, longevity, fitness and I’ve been implementing various “lifestyle optimizations” such as intermittent fasting, regular exercise, meditation, nutrition changes etc. so I have a strong interest in such topics. Unfortunately, many podcasts and blogs in this field are based on guess work and promote quackery and often outright refuse to accept scientific and medical facts so it is very refreshing to find one that has numerous interviews with actual *academic experts* and where claims are backed by scientific studies! Keep up the great work :)

Interesting but too complex
Doctor Rhonda Patrick sounds very well informed and she seems to conduct genuine research. The topics are definitely interesting and worth exploring. Unfortunately most of the episodes I’ve listened to have been hard to follow. The host uses a lot of technical terms and after a few minutes it is easy to get lost if you’re not a doctor too. It can also end up sounding a bit voodooish if one doesn’t have the background to understand it all.

Mostly good
My main complaint is that we’re not all doctors, so it would be helpful to dumb it down for those of us who don’t have a PhD. I listened recently to the episode on NAD, NMN and NR, and the entire time she said the full name for those molecules (or whatever they are)...it REALLY made it hard to follow. Why not just say “NR” or “NMN?” It’s incredibly unnecessary to say nicotinamide ribosome 75 times in one podcast!!!!!! The interviews are best bc the guests speak in normal words...solo episodes need some work!

I am obsessed with this podcast!! Found my Fitness contains more than just in depth-conversations and interviews about things we should all know more about.. it also clarifies loads of misinformation that the news and media spew out which only confuses people. I have listened to every single episode at least once, and there are about a half a dozen that I heavily rotate on the regular (sleep, meditation and mindful eating, telomeres and aging, sauna use, Alzheimer’s disease, and fasting). And I’ve listened to every single one of her talks with Joe Rogan, as well as just searched her name and found all the podcasts she has been featured in and listened to all of them. I JUST CAN’T GET ENOUGH. I am a proud patreon monthly supporter and contributor and I highly encourage everyone who is able to chip in to do so.. because Dr. Rhonda Patrick is a wealth of knowledge and in my opinion totally worth the investment. The way she prepares, articulates and delivers her interviews are spectacular and truly a pleasure to watch and learn from. I can’t believe it took me so long to write a review, but I’ve just been so deep in trying to get inside her head and learn all there is to know. Now go listen to everything and anything Dr. Rhonda Patrick!

Truth Seeking and Health Finding
Rhonda, excellent work. I'm a physician and I see firsthand with patients how misguided knowledge gets patients who are trying to get their health back again can be. There's far too many smoke and mirrors out there and "influencers" promoting "healthy" lifestyles, yet they are just shifting their problems to another area instead of going deeper. Dr. John Limansky (who is very much like you as a physician toward his patients) told me to listen to your podcast. I was underprepared for what I'd hear. I say bravo to you and I want to thank you for making a truly deep mark of progress so we can have a more democratic healthcare system - via truth.

This site is fantastic for those who like to get it “straight from the horses mouth”. It does help to have a biology/chemistry background, but there are many nuggets of expertise we can all take away from these talks. I don’t know of any other podcast that has the actual health-related researchers discuss their work and explain it. My new favorite is Dr. Matthew Walkers on sleep and dementia/Alz. It is a truly masterful discussion and I’ve already implemented some of the things to improve my sleep such as not keeping myself up when I start to feel sleepy, getting a routine in place to go to bed and awake at the same time, getting rid of screens (electronics) several hours before bedtime, etc. The research related to each of these is very interesting. I hope Dr. Patrick keeps doing these very high quality podcasts.

Dr. Patrick hosts an array of world-class guests, but what makes these interviews special is the depth and breadth of these conversations - she's incredible at extracting those bits of gold that I can implement that actually moves the needle. Thanks so much for having a positive impact on thousands of lives, Rhonda and keep up the incredible work! 🙏🙏🙏

Valuable Health Info
Thank you, Dr. Rhonda! Many of us don’t take the time (or have full access to a quality research database after college) to learn what the science says about health-promoting ways to move, sleep, eat, etc. I am always so impressed by the time and quality that you put into the show. It’s never rushed and offers a very thorough discussion of the topic at hand. Thank you for putting your work out there for the general public! Keep up the great work!!

Life Changing
Change your diet, change your lifestyle, change your health, change your life. Everything Dr Patrick explores will help you understand how the lifestyle choices we make affect our health. She’ll teach you simple changes that can make huge differences to your health almost immediately. All backed by science. If you follow through on just a fraction of what she teaches, you’ll improve the quality of life dramatically. At 42, I feel better than when I was 19. Binge on every episode. This stuff works!

Dr. Rhonda Patrick is a Star! “Found my fitness” is an oasis amidst so much confusing information / data about nutrition. The podcast helps immensely in understanding mechanisms within the human body and how to critically analyze new information. Moreover, her passion and unwavering dedication is a source of constant inspiration. She is the best professor I’ve ever had. Cheers!

Phenomenal
I never write reviews, but I was compelled to for this podcast. The information in this podcast is science based and current. The difference between this podcast and other similar podcasts, is that this host actually lets the visiting scientists talk and present their work without constantly interrupting them with lame grandstanding. When she talks it’s to ask the same questions I am wanting to know, or to clarify information. She’s fantastic. I wish I had found her sooner, I have been groaning my way through other podcasts with similar topics because I’m interested in the information. This podcast in contrast is a pleasant experience that feels like I’m treating myself when I listen to it!

amazingly informative without being overwhelming
Like most of us, I do not have the time or energy to find and read tons of research (nor would I likely understand it) but thanks to Dr. Rhonda Patrick, I don't have to! She does an amazing job of taking reseach studies that would be extremely difficult if not impossible for the average person to understand, and explains them & their implications in terms that are simple; she also somehow takes subjects that might otherwise seem dry and makes them interesting. I'm sure I'm not alone on this but I'd LOVE to see a podcast all about optimal nutritionl & generally optimizing health during the perinatal period from precoception through breastfeeding. Maybe even including how men can optimize their sperm quality. Thanks!

I titled this review queue in a part and wine, because I hope there is a PART 2 and a PART 3. This was one of the best podcast I have listen to in sometime and I listen to them all. The questions were pertinent and the answers were succinct and evidence based. I was sorry to hear it end. They talked about doing it again, so I do hope there will be additional episodes.

Dr Patrick is the Neil DeGrasse Tyson of longevity science. She susses out the positive forces found in research and puts them into application via lifestyle, diet, and movement. She gets in the weeds, but hang in there or skip to the end for the summary of action items. Her knowledge and expertise is matched by her sincerity and integrity as she lives her advice. A wealth of information - not preachy at all.
Found My Fitness is a podcast full of health and nutrition information for everyone. It can get very technical at times, but I prefer this to those podcasts just dumb everything down to the lowest common denominator...which these days is pretty low. The people Dr. Rhonda Patrick interviews are top people in their field who really want to share their knowledge with listeners. And the podcast is not preachy at all; no one is telling us what we MUST do to stay healthy and live long lives. Basically, it's "here is the information, this is what I/we do, the rest is up to you". Also, it's quick paced which I love. It never drones on and on a subject because, frankly, there is too much information to cover in a short amount of time. I remember being so excited when I found out that Rhonda Patrick and Peter Attia were going to be podcasting together. If you relate to this as being exciting, then this is the podcast for you. :)

Too complicated to understand.....
Hello Rhonda, I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge, but I’d like to ask who are you trying to target with this podcast? Have you heard of reducing language to 3rd grade level language or even a little higher grade? Reducing your content to 3rd grade language or a little higher grade could help people like myself, whom are not over educated but whom are always trying to learn and better themselves through continually personal improvement, understand your podcasts and share the information. I would love to understand more of your podcasts, but the way you deliver them seems to be targeting people whom are already at your education level instead of a diversified target audience. Maybe this will help, or maybe it will seem lame and pathetic, but hopefully I am not the only one listening and trying to understand your podcasts who feels this way?

JRE #1178 with Dr. Rhonda Patrick saved my life!
As i was researching my crazy sky high levels of insulin, i stumbled across an interview of Dr. Rhonda Patrick on the Joe Rogan youtube channel. I learned about fasting. To hell with food, let your body heal. I have previously tried everything with zero results - exercise, meds, diets, meditation, doctors, insulin (which made things dramatically worse). I just completed my first fast, ever. A 72 hour water fast, and for the first time in years, literally, my fasting insuline came down significantly. omg. I am just sobbing. Dr. Rhonda Patrick is giving away her wisdom for the taking on how to achieve great health and its benefits. When you have health, you ignore it...when you don't have great health you would do anything to regain it. I feel like a lightning bolt of a miracle has come to my life. THANK YOU Dr. Rhonda Patrick!

If you only listen to one health related podcast, this is the one
Nothing short of life changing. Cutting edge information, by cutting edge researchers and doctors, interviewed by a doctor who has published papers in the field of health. I have told everyone I care about to listen to her podcasts. For example, her recent interview if Dr. Dale Bredesen, a must view for anyone, not just those concerned about Alzheimer’s. I got his book and read the chapter on the lab values we all should have to be considered healthy....there is a new standard and we are not being told. Or Dr. Pandin’s interview about intermittent fasting. One of the most important things we can do to improve our health. Or how about her recommendations for the most important labs you should take? You can save a ton of money by ordering them yourself (and she tells you some labs that are great. Combine that with Breseden’s labs recommendations and you have a great base to judge your health.) I have never written a review in my life, but this podcast contains crucial information everyone should know. Thank you Dr. Patrick for letting the everyman take control of their health.

Rhonda is my go to person for nutrition. She has the credentials and the obvious interest in advancing the science that give me confidence in what she and her guests say. I do not understand all that she says but I still get a lot. I am tired of guys with six-pack abs touting this or that formula for success. She acknowledges her lack of certainty about many things--a sure mark of intellectual integrity. Plus, for any Italophile, having Valter Longo on is a treat. Inappropriate comment
I have enjoyed Rhonda Patrick's podcasts, but then when I listened to her with Joe Rogan she made a comment I found disappointing. Rogan was asking about her infant son and said, "Ever wonder if he might be gay?" or something to that effect. Her response was to say she has and to voice a concern about "endrocrine disrupters." I know, I know - "she was kidding!" you'll say. Those kinds of statements are not okay. Some people take them as license to abuse people they perceive as gay. Patrick is supposed to be based in science. That comment struck me as inappropriate and uncalled for.

Excellent Podcast
As a seasoned (read aging) physician who is personally interested in optimizing my own health and longevity (as well as my patients'), over the decades I've heard many conflicting and contradictory opinions on optimum diet, exercise, sleep, brain function, etc. In Dr. Patrick's podcast, we have a source of unbiased and highly scientific information. My Highest Recommendation
Each episode is genuine, cutting edge science made comprehendible by Dr. Patrick's extraordinary clarity & detail. Every guest is interesting, relevant & respected, often renowned, and Dr. Patrick prefaces or captions interviews with explanations of concepts you'll hear discussed. In her episodes without guests, when she references & thoroughly explains specific topics, Dr. Patrick is generous with her research & knowledge. She even shares in real time with Q&A episodes! Dr. Patrick is a humble host & gifted teacher. I am very grateful and highly recommend the FoundMyFitness podcast.

Very informative
I discovered Dr. Rhonda Patrick while listening to Joe Rogan’s podcast. The topics she covered on his podcast truly appealed to me, which led to my discovery of her own podcast, Found My Fitness. The information she presents is honest and accurate and when she determines the research isn’t quite conclusive, she dutifully informs the listener of this. I’m a huge skeptic but I’m completely confident that this podcast is done in good faith and just as accurate as anything out there. I am tremendously grateful for Dr. Rhonda’s podcast and how it introduced me to another aspect of wellness that I was completely oblivious to. If living a long and healthy life interests you, do yourself a favor and listen to a podcast.

Obsessed
This podcast for me is by far one of the most interesting, educational and informative programs I listen. As a wellness consultant, understanding the internal workings of the human body from every aspect is Uber important, and allows me the ability to consult and program healthy plans for my clients. Not having a formal biology background, Rhonda Patrick gives me a vast range of concepts to utilize in assessing and qualifying specific key issues for my clients! I've created a dedicated Rhonda Patrick and guest notebook of explanations and tools to draw from whenever I need to make a deep dive when analyzing potential roadblocks or catalysts. Every time a new episodes is dropped, I get excited. Because of Rhonda, my love and enthusiasm for human biology as regards fitness and health has opened up new topics to explore that make me better for my clients, readers and people in general! I highly recommend this podcast to anyone with a thirst for knowledge on the internal (and external) environments that effect our health and well-being.

Best Nutrition Podcast Out There
Love Rhonda Patrick!! I just discovered her through the Joe Rogan show and its my new favorite source for nutrition information. I've been Paleo-ish for years now and her show covers everything about nutrition that I've been interested in for a while now, in one place. I love her breakdowns on specific genetic polymorphisms and their implications for your diet. I did the 23andMe dna test and used her website's genetic report tool to see what changes I could make. You can find a lot of this info in other places but unfortunately it is usually mixed with a lot of non-scientific wu-wu bs. She sticks pretty much to the facts and based on real studies which I appreciate.

Intelligent, practical, & imperative
Rhonda Patrick is an outstanding intellectual and scientist who has an unparalleled ability to read across disciplines and sub-fields, making connections that truly leads to a wholistic approach to overall health and longevity. She can play hardball with the top scientists doing groundbreaking research and then she synthesizes, unpacks, filters, and conveys that info to non-specialist audiences in an understandable way without oversimplifying. Very Interesting
Rhonda Patrick is obviously very intelligent and has wide knowledge base. This pod cast makes no assumptions about what the listener may or may not know coming in. With that said, it does not shy away from diving deeply into very complicated mechanisms of the human body. The name of this podcast is fitting and will be of interest to people who want to understand what makes us healthy of both mind and body. However, people who want to understand the mechanism behind different healthy lifestyle choices will truly appreciate this podcast.

The best health podcast there is!
Dr Rhonda Patrick's podcast is cutting edge and science based knowledge that you want to know. I no longer pay any attention to news reporters latest "new study says..." as they tend to sensationalize the information. Here Dr Pattrick sites multiple studies for all her insights. She is simply the best. All seven of her appearances on the Joe Rogan show are also worth listening to, again and again.

Best Podcast On Health
Rhonda Patrick is awesome because she looks at every angle and has such a vast knowledge on food science and health. She has a well rounded approach to health and nutrition that is so rare these days. My only wish is that she would speak slower so I can enter understand what she is saying. I find myself skipping back over and over again while listening because she is speaking too quickly and it makes it less enjoyable to listen and is ultimately very frustrating. I love her and her wealth of knowledge and will always recommend her to anyone I speak with about health and nutrition.

Real science with practical application and questions for the future of health
I live these podcasts because they dive deep into the science of biological function. It helps to know why we should eat certain foods and why we should exercise. The discussion is also contextual: what’s right for you may not be right for me, and we get to hear about different contextual scenarios. The takeaways rely on proven research, and does not ignore unknowns or controversies. Thanks to Joe Rogan for helping me find Dr Patrick!

Good info but forgets her audience
Patrick is very smart and has good information, but when she interviews a doctor, she forgets who the audience is. It’s as if she’s having a discussion without taking into account her audience. She is not very good at reducing her terms to things the lay person would understand. Other than that, she does a good job.

I've never heard anyone speak with more passion and genuine enthusiasm for their work than Rhonda Patrick. She and her guests don't just give you a bunch of b.s. opinions, but they explain the science behind it and how things work down to the molecular level. Absolutely one of the best podcasts in this category. She explains things so well that I have no problem following her or her guests. If there is something that her guest will speak about that Dr. Patrick thinks may need some extra explanation, she will address that at the beginning of the podcast. Dr. Patrick’s podcasts are brilliant. I am not at all a student of chemistry and have a basic understanding of biology and she breaks down complex topics with experts in the field to a level that I understand and enjoy - and later geek out about with family and friends! I also highly recommend subscribing to her newsletter, where additional information is shared and includes links to the studies she cites. This is a really important resource for learning about and discussing new research on diet and lifestyle!

- #079 Blood-Brain Barrier Dysfunction in Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia | Axel Montagne, Ph.D.Dr. Axel Montagne is a chancellor's fellow and group leader at the UK Dementia Research Institute at the University of Edinburgh Centre for Clinical Brain Sciences. His group aims to understand how, when, and where critical components of the blood-brain barrier become dysfunctional preceding dementia and in the earliest stages of age-related cognitive decline. With this knowledge, they hope to develop precise treatments targeting brain vasculature to protect brain function. More importantly his work, and that of his colleagues, provide a critical lens through which to view the contributions of vascular dysfunction (or, conversely, vascular health – if we choose to preserve it) as a critical common thread in dementia and neurodegeneration. In this episode, we discuss: 11:44 - What dementias have in common 12:42 - The importance of preserving small blood vessels (in the brain) 13:38 - Changes in the blood-brain barrier in aging that cause "leaking" 15:11 - Predicting cognitive decline early with biomarkers – an opportunity for intervention? 16:32 - Why targeting amyloid isn’t enough 18:54 - The impact of the APOE4 genotype on brain vasculature 24:19 - The cause of white matter damage in the brain 33:47 - Why the loss of omega-3 transport affects pericytes 35:25 - The role of exercise in prevention of blood-brain barrier dysfunction 35:45 - Why high heart rates during exercise preserve brain function 36:49 - The role of exercise in preserving vision health 40:17 - Why leaky vessels damage myelin and the brain 45:31 - Can you have more than one type of dementia? 47:54 - Does the breakdown of the blood-brain barrier cause “type 3 diabetes"? 54:03 - Why omega-3 may prevent detachment of pericytes 01:14:35 - Why a hepatitis drug restored cognition in APOE4 mice 01:19:39 - Why blood-brain barrier disruption results in the accumulation of amyloid-beta 01:25:14 - Why lifetime hypertension increases dementia risk 01:37:13 - Effects of obesity on blood-brain barrier leakage Watch this episode on YouTube Show notes are available by clicking here Join over 300,000 people and get the latest distilled information straight to your inbox weekly: https://www.foundmyfitness.com/newsletter Become a FoundMyFitness premium member to get access to exclusive episodes, emails, live Q+A’s with Rhonda and more: https://www.foundmyfitness.com/premium Learn more about the premium podcast The Aliquot : https://www.foundmyfitness.com/aliquot0 comments0

- #075 Intestinal Permeability: the Bacterial link to Aging, Brain Barrier Dysfunction & Metabolic DisorderThe intestinal barrier serves as a gatekeeper to the human body. The loss of the health and integrity of this barrier influences multiple aspects of human health – including cardiometabolic function, neurological health, behavior, and more – in surprising and unexpected ways. One of these ways involves lipopolysaccharide, or LPS, a bacterial product that arises in the intestine, and its interaction with far distal tissues and organs via the induction of immune mediators. Dr. Rhonda Patrick was the keynote speaker for the Metabolic Health Summit, held May 5 – 8, 2022, in Santa Barbara, California.
