One of the best podcasts. David and Dana compliment each other. Their love of other comedians and great backstories ofSNL are my favorite, especially their respect and hilarious perspective on Lorne. Look forward to podcast each week.

Good chemistry and great guests - feels rushed sometimes
Dana and David are a great team and they pull in great guests — a testament to their reputations. The pacing has gotten a lot better since they started, but they still walk on each other and guests too. It’s harder when everyone isn’t in the same room but requires even more effort. They may be rushing to get done in a hour but longer form is okay if it allows you to slow down a bit and let the discussion unfold naturally. The guests are all on other podcasts that have longer episodes, they are used to it and would be okay with an extra 30 minutes or so. I love the show and have listened to every episode.

Coolest reveal in Hader episode/Oteri’s Nana
I could watch The Californians from SNL on YouTube all day every day. I loved when Bill Hader shared that Fred Armisen decided last minute to do Dana Carvey doing an impression of his son!! Also pleeease bring back Cheri Oteri. I died listening to her stories about her Nana, etc. such great stuff. Love this show! xO

Fun conversations
Not strictly interviews but conversations among friends. Don’t expect perfection just enjoy it. It’s playful. It’s unique. It’s the podcast I look forward to the most. April 19 update - LOVE the show so much! But wow, jarring to suddenly hear a loud yelling commercial for sports betting. Quite unpleasant. But ain’t nothin’ gonna stop me from listening.

Johnny Haha and Lil’ Stinker won’t shut up
Dana Carvey especially has this weird obsession with net worth that is kind of off putting, but you have to look past that. Spade has his big douche energy and we love him for it. Dana tries really hard to engage his guests; he almost has this innocent earnestness about him. Spade is a solid Gen X rep like Rob Lowe. If you’re a fan of SNL from any era, you’ll dig it. But seriously, Dena, quit talking about money. Nobody cares, and Spade is worth way more than you for some freakish reason, so don’t draw attention to the obvious.

wasted throw aways not wasted
Spade, don’t think your ‘I was killing it at my ultrasound’ comment went unnoticed or the comparison of your commitment on Dickie Roberts with that of Daniel Day Lewis’s on There will be Blood. They were hilarious but got trampled over your boisterous ham of a co-host.

Good but
Fascinating for any SNL fan but the zoom interviews are just not good. Something really lacking, can’t play off each other, plenty of interrupting. When the guest is in person it’s so much better

Love
I love this podcast and love both Dana and David. But I’m starting to worry about Dana. He’s getting worse. He falls behind in the conversation, interrupts guests at crucial moments, tries too hard to be on, repeats himself, answers his own questions, and explains his jokes and impressions. Is he OK? Dana is a legend. He doesn’t have to try so hard. We love him!

It’s good, but….
I have been really enjoying this podcast. I’m glad Dana and David started it. They definitely fill void left after Marc Maron worked out whatever demons he needed to after interviewing many of the former SNL cast and finally Lorne Michaels on his own show. I love SNL and my love for it spans all of the various casts. I enjoy hearing backstories behind the classic sketches (especially when the guests are allowed to finish them). Overall Dana and David do a good job, but they often interrupt guests right as they are about get to something interesting. Dana can be too self deprecating and a little obnoxious with the dated impressions (though I do enjoy hearing about his process for coming up with them) and David doesn’t seem to value his own input and contributions to the show or his own fame. He often lets himself get steamrolled by Dana. I honestly wouldn’t mind if Rob Schneider would step in and guest host occasionally for either of them. He surprised me with how good of a storyteller he was and that his impressions complimented his stories and weren’t gratuitous. Don’t get me wrong. The shows can be funny but some are meatier than others with SNL history and behind the scenes stuff. Some are gratuitous impression-a-thons between Dana and the guests. Despite my criticism, I’m still going to listen for the few gems I do get out of the interviews. It has been fun going back and revisiting the old sketches after they mention them. Keep it up but please take these comments to heart. They come from a place of love the show and the craft of comedy. Respect your guests time and input and stop trying to compete for attention with them.

Best Dennis Miller and Jon Lovitz impressions you’ll ever hear.
A truly wonderful podcast that plays like ‘Insider Baseball’ for Saturday Night Live junkies. I can’t think of another talk show that offers this much authentic insight into not just SNL, but the comedy side of show business as a whole. I enjoy the bulk of Dana and David’s work (BULK, not all), but they come across especially raw, fascinating, gracious, intimate, and gut-wrenchingly funny here—all the while extracting awesome stories and comedic bits from whoever they interview. Your life is duller than you’ll ever know if you’re not listening to this show.

I love this podcast, but I am getting frustrated with Dana’s interrupting
I thoroughly enjoyed this podcast, and the behind-the-scenes look at SNL. However, for the love of God, Dana, please consider the following. 1. Dana, you interrupt your guests too much and turn the conversation over to your experiences. Let them talk! They are often in the middle of an answer when you interject with either an impression or you turn the conversation back to you. Some episodes I just cannot continuing listening to because of your constant interruptions. 2. Dana, please listen to David’s questions compared to your questions. In your questions, you say what you think the guest will answer rather than letting them answer for themselves. For example, instead of saying, “how did your audition go” you will say “ how did your audition go? I’m guessing you were nervous and excited and maybe thought you wouldn’t get this chance and you were really wanting to do good” etc. etc. Again, I beg of you, let your guests talk, and you take a backseat! you are on every week and loyal listeners have heard many of your stories. 3. Dana, we know you are a master of impressions. Every time a guest mentions a person for whom you have an impression, do not feel that you must interrupt with your impression. Believe it or not, we’d like to hear the guest finish an answer for a change. 4. David, you’re doing a great job! I have always enjoyed watching you on your various shows, and especially when you were a guest on Ellen.

Not funny. Definitely don't want to see him with his shirt off. How this guy has a career is beyond me. Makes you think anyone can sell out a stadium or theater. You know who is so funny? The mystery comics and actors on Community News with Paul and Sasha. Talk to them for a change!

This is a great podcast and I really enjoy listening to all the background stories and inside jokes. I’m a big fan of Carvey and Spade but some one really needs to fix the echoey sound in the sound system sometimes it hard to understand because words get cut off and kinda sounds like the words are underwater . Other than that love this.

Dana!
I love this show. I like the format. Best guest list ever! I just bristle a bit at Dana's style. Dana’s questions often put words in the guest mouth before they even answer. Sometimes he steps on their answers. He stepped on Paul McCartney's answers so much. Let it breath. Take a breath. Also, Dana has some weird urge to ask the guests what toys they played with as kids. This question usually pauses the guests and their answers are never interesting. I would take this out.

Greatness
Ever since I was a kid, I loved watching SNL. I love listening as if I’m a fly on the wall with all the SNL greats. Every episode is great, but the special episodes are the early years cast, and Loren Michael. One of my SNL cast members is Dana Carvey, he’s truly an all time great and he and David Spade really make a great team. I highly recommend you listen to this podcast! Thanks Dana and Dave!

Great/Legendary Comedians…but..
Love these guys! Obviously very talented and experienced in the comedy/show biz world! A big fan! however…(sorry to be a buzz kill womp womp) they tend to be conversation “toppers,” by interrupting the guest to the point where it becomes hard to continue to listen. Almost Cringey. When asking a guest a question, it would be nice to let that guest actually answer it. Or finish a thought. They usually get two words into their answer before one of them (mainly Dana) starts talking about him/his experience related to that question. (Even with the Lorne Michaels interview!) Eeesh. Sorry!!! Again, great guys. Love them. Just need to work on two-way communication skills instead of just one ;). They’ll get there! Still a great podcast 😜😘 jus tryin to help!!

A Great Idea
I love the idea of this podcast, but in so many of the episodes I feel like Dana speaks more than the guest. I've lost count of how many times he's done a Lorne impression and followed it with like 10 minutes of talking about Lorne or the impression. These guys have great connections which equals great guests. Would be cool to hear more about them and a little less from the hosts. Also, I've loved David Spade for as long as I can remember, but I can't help noticing that he sometimes comes across as either frustrated or bored. I want to love the podcast. There's just something that's off about it.

I came from a deeply conservative family and I do appreciate both of your works as they are what I grew up watching as a kid. I just wanted to say that I really appreciate your work and ability to not be super political as it tends to divide and comedy in my opinion tend to bring together. Keep up the great work. Much love to the both of you. P.S. Carvey I would love another netflix special or please come to Okc bc you have a following in the Midwest that’s untapped.

Even better than you think it’ll be…
A loyal listener since day-one, I love the interviews and the SNL alum vibe. They really do a great job of bringing an honest approach to the stories, which is the best way to talk about SNL. Great guests talking candidly… I could listen to this show forever, but will tune out if you ever have Bert Kerscher on again. What a pointless guest Kerscher was. He has no connection to SNL, he’s dull, brash, uninteresting, and he literally brings that ‘morning zoo’ energy. He ruined the vibe of the show. I’m sure you see that. I’ve listened to every show, but couldn’t get 15 minutes into this episode. He’s unfunny, and has no charisma in front of a microphone. Thanks for letting me vent.

THANK YOU
Firstly, the two of you are icons. I am in my 50s and grew up with Saturday Night Live, and you both are very much a part of my (and my four siblings’) young adulthood! I’ve seen all of your movies over the years, as well. Secondly, and perhaps my main message here, is that it’s such a blast to listen to you chat and crack jokes & all the things. What you’re doing is bringing me so much nostalgia and JOY! You bring joy to many of us, and I continue to share the podcast info with friends and family. It is a highlight of my week to take a long walk and listen & laugh with you, with just the right amount of nostalgia. And your guests have been amazing and I especially loved the tribute to the great Chris Farley. Thank you. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU! You’re the best. 💜☺️

More satisfaction
Hey Dana and David, Love your show, and hope it goes on for a long time! It’s really interesting to get insights about SNL from two comedy superstars who have brought joy and laughter to millions (hope I said that right David)! My question is, can you talk a bit about the process of writing jokes? Also does the feeling of creating a killer bit give you more satisfaction, than actually performing it in front of an audience? This podcast would be fantastic if it weren’t for Dana Carvey. You can feel him desperately trying to steer everything toward one of his impressions from the 90’s, every single episode. SNL
Weren't these two on SNL like 35 years ago? Too bad that's all they did because that's all you get to hear about over and over and over and over again while they blather on and on about it. It's like listening to two people talk about working at Sears in 1988 and all the good times they had and nothing else. Want to hear a funny story about how their boss liked to drink an Amstel Light in 1991? Isn't that funny!? Then the guests just talk about SNL too. It's just the worst.

I would give this 5 stars, but so annoyed by Dana always interrupting and making the show about him and his impressions. David Spade — try to remember each episode that you’re not the one being interviewed. The podcast is becoming impossible to listen to because you make every episode about you. Just count how many times each episode you use the words “I” and “me.” It’s too much. Not trying to be offensive. Just constructive.

My new favorite podcast!
These two are so hilarious together. Even their commercials are entertaining. I love how they talk over each other, interrupt their guests and just have a good time like friends sitting around talking. I love David’s comments that he slips in, and Dana’s impressions. Both have such infectious laughs. I listen to a whole bunch of podcasts, but this is the only one I’ll listen to over and over. Love the Lorne impressions!!! Being a SNL viewer from the 70’s, it’s fascinating to look at the show from the inside.

Funny…
Great podcast. Amazing guests. I just wish they would mention Tommy Boy and Church Lady more each episode … also needs more Lorne and Ross Perot impressions from Dana. Not enough doing it only a few times an episode. 🙄🙄 But love the Chris Farley episodes!

These guys are funny but terrible interviewers.
Never have two interviewers talked over their guests more…. We are often so close to hearing something interesting from a guest, only to have it snatched away by Carvey as he rambles on for 20 seconds.

Good podcast that could be better
I was really glad to hear Dana’s observation that he should talk less on the Jimmy Kimmel episode. These two guys are so funny but the earlier episodes are hard to listen to with all of Dana’s interruptions, especially with the great guests. It’s ok to let the guest talk. Thanks for the great content.

Maybe my favorite episode yet!!
This show in front of an audience with guest Will Ferrell (released February 8, 2023) is just amazing……there are so many funny moments from everyone, David cracked me up so unexpectedly that I almost spit my mouthful of delicious IPA all over my pizza, he made the audience explode with laughter! It was so good, I will listen again to this one for sure!!

The podcast is great! It makes me laugh, the stories are amazing, and both of you are honest about your lives and experiences. Guests are on point and the live shows are so fun. One criticism, you both have a tendency to interrupt the guest right when they are getting to a good point or story highlight. Otherwise one of my favorite podcasts of all time.

Full of Movie Spoilers
Carvey will share movie/show specific information on the regular. Most recently it was a spoiler about “The Whale”. Possibly one of the most important parts of the movie became a throwaway line for Dana. If Spade goes out on his own, I’ll be there.

Best thing to happen to Wednesdays since humps
Never thought I’d ever have a reason to look forward to Wednesdays but here we are. Both gents are so funny. They’re so different, which helps keeps it interesting. The guests are wide-ranging and fascinating but honestly I’d still listen if they stopped booking them and they talked about their days at SNL, Norm, Farley, The Beatles, or just broke each other’s balls for an hour every week. I went from not knowing I needed Fly On The Wall to not wanting to live without it.

Eh
Sometimes funny and I love the guests, but Dana annoyingly cuts off and talks over guests with anecdotes about himself - CONSTANTLY!! Dude, chill. Let the guests talk and tell their stories. That’s why we listen. Not to hear for the 100th time about church lady. Not sure I can keep listening. Spade is great though.

I never write reviews. But, these guys feel like I’m coming home to hang out with old friends who you haven’t seen for awhile, but jump right in without missing a beat. Being a 47 yo guy, they’re the perfect blend for me of nostalgia of SNL and current comedy. Funny is forever and has no age. They’re were funny then and even funnier now. Never miss an episode. I keep that James Austin Johnson episode on standby for emergencies when you need a laugh, stat! Never fails. Thank you, Dan

great show, but…
Love the memories, impressions, chatting, reminiscences. Dana Carvey in particular is a genius and one of my fave SNL players. I can listen to his impressions repeatedly as it brings me back to when I watched the show more. I love hearing the old stories and impressions and their guests are phenomenal. As a stand-up, comedy, and pop-culture fan, I love the show. But….. as interviewers, both could improve. Carvey is rapidly improving and increasingly asks questions that probe his guests’ personalities and uncover interesting things about them although he is still uncomfortable as an interviewer and annoyingly laughs nervously after asking questions. He is much better than Spade who shows almost no interest in learning anything new about his guests. Often the questions are snide and faux mean which worked on the show where he was the king of insincerity and barbed insults but a bit more enthusiasm and interest in interviewing rather than just trotting out old stand-up lines would be welcome. Update: I think Spade is a better listener than Dana now. You guys continue to undercut your appeal by talking over your guest and asking and answering your own questions. I might reach a point where I can’t listen in the future. You need a host to lead the podcast who can ask the questions, bring you guys in, and the host also.

Best podcast out there!
Nothing but natural flow of conversation between Dana and David, or the both of them with their guests. There is no forced humor or forced admiration of the guest. I like Conan, but on his podcast he spends 75% off the time robotically “admiring” his guest’s career and personality. David and Dana just have a wonderful talk with their guests (who they obviously admire), letting it go where it goes, whether it be serious or hilarious, about SNL or some totally unrelated interest or subject. The podcast lives up to its name - I really do feel like I’m eavesdropping on some old friends just hanging out. Listening to these episodes is a great experience - I wish they were even longer! Thank you both for doing this.

Good guests; good idea, bad hosts.
The show is a fantastic idea but Spade and Carvey just are not good hosts that know how to navigate an interview. The Jimmy Kimmel episode really sheds light on this. Jimmy knows how to interview people and this episode is 10x the Normal ones as there is structure and actual good questions being asked. If Dana and David could come to interviews prepared and learn to ask better questions, Dana could stop announcing the impressions he’s doing; and spade would stop pretending to not remember things that he clearly remembers, this would be a much better show. Still like it though because I like Dana and David but it’s just the interviews themselves lack a certain structure and substance.

Love you Dana, but stop fanning the flames boys
Your interview with Bill Burr was just the cringiest - cringe because of the total lack of awareness. Look at daily data about sexual violence and domestic abuse and try to tell me that “all the monsters” have been taken care of already. Come up with a better line. Really, what’s the point? Shock can be a great weapon in comedy, but it can’t be the point in itself, that’s just lazy — lazy comedy, and lazy thinking, which unfortunately are doing a lot of damage and fanning the flames of fascism. Wouldn’t say it unless I thought that maybe you’d consider it.

Dana Carvey is too much!
I’ve never written a review on any podcast before, and I’ve been listening to this one for awhile now. But it’s getting so hard to tune in anymore, even with a guest that I’m very interested in hearing what he has to say. It just ALWAYS turns into Dana Carvey interviewing Dana Carvey! ANY question he asks is just a set up for him to tell a story about himself! Every question! And whenever David Spade try’s to bring it back to the guest, we have to wait until all the impressions Dana needs to do are done. David Spade is very good at talking to the guests and letting them tell their stories, where as Dana Carvey just seems to be always yelling, look at me! Look at me!

The Chris Farley episodes are so great!!
All of your podcasts are wonderful, but the time you spent reminiscing about Chris was truly the best! So many stories from family, friends, and co-workers gave real depth and insight into his life. Love the podcast, but there are a lot of missed opportunities
I love the podcast, but there are times where I just cringe. Dana cannot help but bring everything back to him. It would be fine once in a while, but he does it all the time— makes him sound so insecure. I think David is a better listener! The podcast with Chevy was disappointing— the potential for great stories from back in the day were ther, and Chevy was just not a good guest; he couldn’t ever just give a straight answer. With Lorne, you should have asked about how the relationship between he and the cast has changed over the years— he was the same age as the original cast— how was that ? Especially compared to today when the cast is much younger than he is… Anyway, I still like it podcast and your interviewing skills are always improving . And you guys are still funny!

Please, god, let the guest speak.
I just want to say that I’ve been a listener since day one. I love Dana and David, and have been watching them for 30 years. That being said, please, let the guest talk. I was so looking forward to the Brendan Fraser episode and I couldn’t make it though it. David asks a question, which turns into a question that never ends, and when you finally think he’s going to let Brendan get a word in, Dana then Interjects and either starts going on about something unrelated or asks another question or literally answers for him. This goes back and forth and it’s anxiety inducing to say the least. even worse is they ask question and then answer it for the guest before even has a chance to say anything. Telling the guest his own life story sort of defeats the purpose of asking him any questions. I love you guys but you’re getting in the way of your own show sometimes.

Top Notch Brendan Fraser Episode!
I am always cracking up listening to the episodes. Sometimes it does feel alittle off the rails trying to one up jokes and the conversation gets lost. The Brendan episode hit the mark perfectly. Funny and interesting. But also thoughtful and heartfelt. The more serious notes seemed to help keep the conversation on track. Great episode. Love Brendan!

I really, truly enjoy this podcast so much after discovering it a few months back. Now that I’ve gone through most of my favorite cast members, I’m on to the second tier and find these episodes just as interesting. Reviewing the reviewers
The people writing negative reviews of this podcast are serious idiots. That they think Chevy Chase wasn’t funny is telling. I think Phil Hartman was one of the funniest, best sketch comedians, and his death was tragic and sad. But when Chevy Chase asked, “What did he die of?” it made me laugh out loud. Also, perhaps the negative reviewers should stop ragging on Dana and just go start their own podcasts that no one would ever listen to.

Grew up watching these guys on SNL and in movies and kind of just took them for granted. 30 years later I’m blown away by how insanely gifted an impressionist Dana is. Love you guys!
David and Dana, The both of you raised me as a child, watching SNL and your movies. I laughed, I cried…but mostly cried. Seriously, I looked up to you two and I wouldn’t be the same person I am today if you both didn’t exist and had some part in my life. So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for that. I am waiting for the first episode of 2023 to drop and looking forward to it. Oh yeah, the Chris Farley tribute you did was fantastic! He was another that had such an impact on my life. I am from Chicago and will never forget where I was the day he passed; my brother and I had both decided to stay home “sick” from high school. We were sitting in our living room listening to AM 1000 on the radio (yes, believe it or not AM was still a thing then or at least 1000 was with all the great personalities they had on then). The AM 1000 station was located in The John Hancock Building and I believe Chris had residency there at the time and was friends with everyone at the station and he would always swing in to say hello and make everyone laugh, as he was known to do. The program we were listening to, while we sat in our living room, was interrupted with the sad news of the passing of Chris. When we heard this, my brother and I just stared off as we digested that news. Many minutes went by in silence. We couldn’t believe it. Not Chris Farley! We didn’t say anything for awhile, just sat there trying to make sense of it in our own way. I will never forget that day, the day Chris’ light faded and the world just a shade darker since. Thank you for that lovely tribute to him and sharing your personal stories and behind the scenes of Chris. It was so funny and touching and means the world to us that look up to you all. Thank you. Love, Nick

Thank you guys for the show. I appreciate the preparation you do for each guest and the genuine conversations you have. I’ve learned a lot and have a new appreciation for the SNL family. One of my favorites…
I love this podcast for so many reasons. It’s my go to when I know that I want to laugh or need a laugh. The Chris Farley tribute was just amazing. I started watching SNL and repeating bits when I was 7, way too young, but I loved it. I’m so glad that you’re here with all your buddies making me laugh again.

Right on time…
I just wanted you to know how much your remembrance episodes on Chris Farley helped me, I just came home from detox and rehab and I needed to hear the all of your guests and the running theme of Farley’s amazing talents and the “if only he was still with us - just imagine what he could be now” themes. I especially needed to hear Jim Belushi’s raw message from a family members point of view- I was feeling scared and tentative about my sobriety and the work That lies before me to heal myself and the work I need to do to rejoin my family as the wife and Mom that I used to be before I lost myself to a really bad opiate addiction. Thank you both for truly helping me with your humor and the right words at the right time. Sincere thanks from an Fat lady in a little coat!

Dana and David are hilarious! I can’t get enough of these episodes. Listening to them interview stars that I grew up watching gives me the warm and fuzzies. It’s awesome hearing them talk about what goes on behind the scenes at SNL. If your a fan of David Spade and/or the casts of SNL, this podcast is a no brainer. Keep the impressions coming Dana! I’m so lame I listened to the CF tribute shows twice! I’ve been to Spades show in Medford MA and Adams Show at the Boston garden recently (I’d see you too Dana If you come!). Sandlers song for Farley, I’ve heard many times before, but here I am crying hearing it from the end of the podcast tribute to Chris. You guys are amazing! I’m sure his family adored hearing all of you amazing people talk about their son/brother. Blessed. ♥️Xoxoxox

Fascinating Stuff!
One hears about the schedule at SNL. The writing, the read through, dress rehearsal, etc. These stories from people who lived and breathed this life never get old. Turns out everyone had a crisis of confidence. Everyone has bombed once or thirty times. And the times when the sketch lands? You feel like you are in the room when it happened. You hear it from different perspectives: from the writers and the performers. The evergreen question of “Who was your favorite guest host on SNL?” really is not even interesting, when Dana, Spade, and their guest hit their conversational stride about how the sausage was made. I could listen for hours!

Okay I’ll find out how to message the pod directly but for now idk how many people I have told to watch Lost and Found for the Neil Diamond scene alone. It’s a hard movie to find to watch! This scene, as they say, “lives rent free in my head”. David’s lip synching and dancing just so good.

Disappointing
I enjoy your podcast but the first two segments of the Farley tribute with Sandler and Chris’ family were frustrating to listen to. No effort was made to play or explain any of the skits or other references spoken about, such as Farley’s song on SNL (don’t recall) and other skits, not all of which are part of pop culture lore. If you couldn’t recall the skit you were lost with Sandler — it was a stream of insider anecdotes with no context for the audience. Re Chris’ mom and brother, did I miss it or were there no questions about his personality growing up, what tv and movies or comedians influenced him growing up. And whether his mom knew or sensed at a young age that Chris had the gifts to become a big star. Wrestling in high school came up for a moment but no questions about how he did, or how competitive he may have been or did he play other sports? Little to give us insight on his comedic gifts except he got in trouble — like on the bus, etc. I haven’t listened to the other segments yet but hoping their’s more context and insight for your listeners. Thanks for your consideration. Mike Bolen, Philadelphia

This show makes me so happy. I’ve grown up loving both of you and your movies, so this podcast is just the perfect storm of everything I love about comedy. I absolutely love the stories from all the guests you have on…it’s so cool to hear everyone’s perspectives and experiences of being on the crazy train that is SNL! Also!! Thank you for the loving Farley tribute. There is a whole generation of people who miss the heck out of him. He left a hole in comedy that will never be filled by anyone else. It’s awesome to hear more about him from the people who worked with him and the people who loved him the most (his mom!! Such a great lady!). I can never get enough of all the hilarious stories! The thing about Farley
3 or 4 guys who have a dark light will replace 50 good friends. 5 or 6 people will counter 100 to 150 friends who are good. It’s so hard to turn off your little friends who want to just get high.

I’ve been listening since day one and have enjoyed every episod and love getting the behind-the-scenes stories of SNL through their eyes. However, today’s Chris Farley Tribute (12/14/22) was something special. Not only was it a testament to his immense talent, it also gave us a glimpse of the troubled man behind the cameras. My weekly happy place!
I had to add: thanks for the gift of the five hours (two-part episodes) on December 14, 2022 dedicated to Chris Farley. It was wonderful to hear everyone’s memories. Part of his greatness was what he added to the ensemble. He was brilliant, but he could shine all the more brightly because of the wonderful talent around him. The skits, voices and SNL stories are even funnier the second or third (or even tenth) time around. This show has probably prompted more SNL YouTube searches of favorite skits and cast members than any other podcast around. SNL memories tie to our own life memories of where we were or what we were doing at the time. Keep up the great work. I always laugh while listening, and goodness knows we always need laughter in our lives!

Great guests and horrible interviewers. How about you each do 20 minutes and let the guest talk for 20? “Oh that reminds me of another time I can talk even more about myself…” it makes Leno and Letterman even more impressive. Making your guest look good makes you look good.

Love them, longer episodes! More Spade, less Carvey
Love the podcast, it’s kinda a dream host duo. The conversations are so good, the guests are so interesting, that if episodes are an hour long they feel rushed or incomplete. I also think Dana needs to be reeled in, he talks and interrupts people way too much and it gets annoying. I’d like to hear Spade talk more, he’s usually too curt and stepped on by Dana who’s tap dancing all over the place.

Hilarious Riffing in an Intimate Walk Down SNL Memory Lane
As a second city alumni, this is my go to “story telling podcast” from two guys who lived the dream. David and Dana exude an unexpected bubble bath kindness masked with just enough snarky outbursts to remind us that clever sarcasm is alive and well in our world. In particular, David shows an unexpected vulnerability that resonates, making me even more interested in his journey after SNL. I’m done. I want to hear from the guest, and these guys never stop talking about themselves. There was a point in the recent Fred Armisen episode where Fred had moved onto a different topic and was telling a story (or at least attempting to) and it was obvious that Spade’s reactions were still based on the previous topic. In other words, he wasn’t even listening. Just wrapped up in his own head. At this point 50 episodes in, we’ve heard enough about their experiences at SNL. They’re literally repeating themselves now. Such a bummer, given the wonderful guests they’ve had.

The Chevy episode
This podcast is great, however I wanted to make a comment on the Chevy Chase episode. You could feel how jealous he was of Dana’s talent (who is truly a limitless galaxy of entertainment). Was Chevy ever truly funny? Dana and Spudley do everything they can to carry this putrid Hollywood load but he just won’t allow it to be successful, kind of like Chevy in the 21st century.

Same Episode every week
It’s pretty much the same. Listen to 5 episodes then save your time. Each week, Dana is going to do his standard set of impressions, interrupting anyone he can to get the spotlight on him. David will try to tell a story, Dana will interrupt and we’ll be left wondering what David was going to say. The guest will be interesting. But you’ll get to hear Dana’s Dennis Miller impression instead.

Whenever I need a pick me up I listen to the rob lowe episode. I’ve shared it. Trees are violent. That invasive root system killed my dogwood. Absolutely classic. You guys still got it.

Behind the Curtain
I love this peek behind the curtain. I got to be in the audience for the James Austin Johnson show. I love the inside dope, and how much everyone appreciates having been a part of Saturday Night Live. I particularly enjoyed the interview with Maya Rudolph.

Recommend interviewing Mellissa Villaseñor
She just left SNL and has such a unique and young perspective on the world. Plus she has a lovely and humorous voice for a podcast. Look into it!!! Love the pod <333

Chevy….🥹
I’ve listened to Chevy’s interview on this podcast and on Rob Lowe’s podcast. As challenging as it may be for him, his comic humor and timing does try to shine through. Bless him and his wife for her assistance in navigating the conversation. D2 were so patient and kind with him. Thank you.

Stop Giggling
I love David Spade! He’s one of my favorite comics and why I give this 3 stars. However, this podcast has become increasingly difficult to listen to because of Dana’s incessant giggling, interrupting the guests, and boasting about himself. It’s unbearable! Spade, please start your own podcast with you being the only host…please!!

Dana hogs the whole interview
Dana, give the guests and Spade some airtime. You interrupt everyone and hog too much time. It’s an interview, let others speak.

A consistent good (not great) listen
With the possible exception of the unlistenable Chevy Chase episode Dana and David are enjoyable to listen too. They are inherently funny people-if not necessarily great interviewers. The show isnt quite as sharp as Maron or Smartless, but its fun to get an insiders peak at SNL over the years.

Chevy
I disagree with the negative Chevy reviews. I’ve listened to him on other podcasts where the hosts are frustrated because they can’t get a straight answer and it’s a disaster. Dana and David let go of control and just rolled with it. I liked that it was different from the norm, it made me laugh out loud at times and I thought Chevy was having a good time.

Stop interrupting
Been listening for quite agile and I have to stop - can’t handle the continued interruptions by Dana any longer. Constantly talking about himself. And David throwing in jokes while the guest is speaking. I want to hear the guests! No doubt there can be jokes and banter but it’s like 80% Dana and 20% guest with interruptions. Just stop it. Cringe.

Spade = Everyday Hero
So jazzed that these guys are doing this podcast. Spade has been criminally underrated as a comedian and has single-handedly kept so many of Hollywood’s finest fast food eateries in business over the years… I listen hoping that Carvey will suddenly belt out REM’s Stand or Losing My Religion. I think his Stipe impersonation would be sick. Thanks for always talking just as much or a lot more than every one of your guests. Love you guys!

Started good, but got really, really old
I was so into the idea of this podcast that I forgave the poor execution for a long time. It sounds terrible. They’ve had some really poor recordings lately. How could you not get some help with audio to do a good interview with Paul McCartney?! You reference, praise, and imitate him every episode. He’s basically an involuntary character. Editing is an option. You do not have to release the chaotic stream of consciousness session you record. Dana, stop talking so much. Your brain can’t keep up with what your saying and you’re too eager to do all of your impressions in every episode. You said, speaking of Biden and did your Biden impression, bouncing off of a comment about RBG. Get a grip. Slow down. Let other people talk and don’t make them talk about you. David, you’re doing fine. It has just become annoying and cringe to listen to. I was young when you were on SNL. I am generally in your prime demographic. But you’re not for me any more and that’s disappointing. Hope you find a way to improve.

Chevy Chase interview
Chevy is one of my all time favorites, I was hoping for this interview every week. Giving you a 5 ⭐️ because I love this pod cast so much…. But I hated every minute of this interview. It was hard to get through. Reminiscent of a Robin Williams interview. Just all over the place; and not in a fun way.

You have some amazing guests with amazing stories. It would be nice if you actually let them talk. This last episode with Chevy Chase was especially ridiculous- Dana kept cutting him off.

Chevy
This episode was really rough to listen to. Chevy just didn’t want to cooperate and was really just unbearable. Not funny at all. Perhaps his health issues contributed to this - but he was just beyond obnoxious. Dana and David - you did your best.

Chevy Chase
You guys were literally throwing questions away. As comedy fans we want to hear those stories and answers, especially when you’ve got someone as elusive and enigmatic as Chevy Chase on the show. I get that his memory isn’t great, and he’s being a goofball at times not answering directly, but often he was trying to answer and you stepped on it or moved on without finishing. I know this isn’t a straight interview podcast and you were having fun in Chevy’s rhythm, but you wasted a huge comedy guest.

Good for a few episodes
Then it’s super repetitive with Dana just talking over the guests and telling the same stories every show. It would be better if they let the interesting guests they get tell their stories.

Love the podcast
I listen while on treadmill and also watch on you tube. My favorite so far is the Cheri Oteri podcast. I resonate so much with her sense of humor and characters developed from childhood. Your discussion about our parents and family members use of substances really touched home. We had that dysfunction in our home and my siblings and I had a lot of fun (probably survival skill) almost doing our own characters and skits based on that topic. Also love all the SNL people and stories. Have watched since day one (aging myself) and also enjoyed the various references to old Hollywood- whether it was Molly and Cheri, Dana or later Bill Hader doing Vincent Price or watching Conan O’Brien later doing the old timey voice on his show. Not sure if the purpose of the podcast was to take a stroll down SNL memory lane but I am truly enjoying it.

Chevy chase
We all know he’s a legend. But he’s easily the worst interview out there. He can’t remember most of what he did and if he can remember something it’s pretty evident he doesn’t care to talk about the old times. Just a brutal, awful interview. Let’s all just remember him through his films. Yikes.

LOVE!
I’m a Gen Xer and have adored David and Dana for years. This podcast could not be timelier—the past two 1/2 years have sucked, and it’s SO refreshing to hear them and the guests (who’ve all been great). I’m hoping you’ll also have John Goodman, Seth Meyers, Alec Baldwin, Michael Che, Colin Jost, Mikey Day, Sara Sherman, Keenan Thompson, Lenny Pickett (for a band member’s pov), Kristen Wiig, Stephen Colbert, and of course PETE!! in the future. Love you guys and thank you!

Love the show and a request for Louis CK as a guest
An entertaining, relaxing and fun show that makes me laugh out loud and just gives me a generally warm and fuzzy feeling. I’ve seen both Dana and David perform live in the San Francisco Bay Area and love them both. Would like to request they interview Louis CK, as his fans are curious how he is making a comeback. Thank you!

Great idea for a talk show. Hosts are hilarious. Fan of Dana and Spade. Love how they have come to the conclusion that they’re narcissistic and constantly talk over each other and/or-interrupt their guests. after the first few episodes. Dana, David and their guests are a lot of fun. Big fan of the original not ready for prime time players had a great babysitting gig when the show first started. over the years there’s been so many talented, funny people going through that show and going on to make some fun movies and do interesting projects.

Dana, reign it in, please.
The Paul Mccartney episode was barely listenable. Dana giggled and laughed through the entire ep. The random laughing and the breaking into ridiculous accents, ruins the flow. Is anyone really interested in 30 yr. old impersonations? Carson? HWB? Perot? Really? Please consider giving David more of the platform.

Don’t Stop
Don’t stop…don’t stop! Just hearing you guys will be on a show or in a movie, makes me laugh and feel happy. I grew up and was force fed on Jonathan Winters, Stan Freberg, Bob and Ray, Bob Newhart, The Commitee, The Credibility Gap,The Firesign Theatre…. I’ve been a fan of SNL since the original cast and ever since have prayed that the new cast would be as smart and funny. You two and you’r gang were prayers answered, along with a few other good groups Certainly Phil Hartmann and friends. Not so much right now, well, Kenan is great. The humor is just kinda mean, right now, and that’s not always funny. I’m so happy to find you and be able to listen and laugh. Your rapport with guests are wonderful. Just listened to the Paul McCartney interview and enjoyed every single moment! I’ll be listening so please don’t stop, at least not anytime soon, OK?
