Only podcast I want to listen to twice
Stephanie’s research skills and way to tell a story are amazing. Derek’s insight from being a detective and his ability to play Devil’s advocate and look at the other side. Thanks you two for always bringing your best selves

Best Podcast Ever
I love these two! No one covers a case as in depth and respectful as Stephanie. I love her wit and wisdom. I love Derricks input and honesty have learned so much from his perspective. Not only does this podcast memorialize victims in a respectful way and shed light on their stories, but it has made me a safer and more vigilant human. Thank you guys for all your hard work and effort!

Big fan of Derrick from Big Brother and Breaking Homicide. I’ve been a member of Patreon for awhile and love the cases chosen. Stephanie is awesome and you guys make a good team. Excellent job on the Hae Min Lee case. I didn’t want him to be guilty either but it’s undeniable.

Incredible job!!!
Stephanie and Derrick never seize to amaze me with the amount of open mindedness and research they put into all episodes. I was definitely someone who was on the fence and very intrigued to see y’all covering this, although there will always be questions about the why and who, I do believe at a minimum both Adnan & Jay played a huge and premeditated role in this. Thank you both again for you amazing research & dialogue!

Just giving a great review. I am one that appreciates deep, deep dives and hearing both sides. I have not heard a case you guys have done, where I did not hear most, or all, of the conflicting arguments. Here’s to fair reporting and honest opinions!! I am here for it. You guys work hard at this and it shows. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Not intimidated
This duo is AMAZING. The only reason they have any low rating at all is because they don’t follow the crowd and are not intimidated. And if you take time to listen, you’ll know why they make the conclusions they do. No crazy conspiracies although ther are always open to hearing one out! Just the greatest. My treat every week to listen and learn with them.

NO ONE researches better than Stephanie! They are unbiased and ethical. I think they should do more controversial cases, because they break down every detail.

Awesome In-depth Podcast
I love this podcast. I love hearing opinions from both Stephanie and Derrick! I’m fairly new to their podcast. This is probably the 3/4 case I’ve listened to by them but I love all the little details they give! You can tell it’s very thoughtfully and thoroughly researched! Keep it up!!

Undercover Pineapple Reporting for Duty!
I love this podcast. Stephanie is a research maniac and does a fantastic job with bringing forth a well rounded case from the beginning to end. I also really enjoy hearing Derrick’s take on these cases. I like how he gives the law enforcement perspective because we don’t always get that from other shows. I like that they are both willing to say who did a great job, as well as call out people when when they didn’t do their jobs. Great well rounded show for sure!

One of my favorites
Love Crime Weekly! The deep dives and details…it is all put together so well. Hearing y’all’s perspectives is great and gives me different ways of thinking about the case/people and I appreciate that. I like to hear other’s opinions and how they differentiated from my own, and the fact that you both don’t always have the same opinion makes it a great conversation. Keep up the good work! 🕵️♀️ 🕵️♂️ 🍍 -Jessie M.

Love this podcast
If you’re looking for a podcast that does their own research and does deep dives, this is it. Stephanie and Derrick don’t just regurgitate case reviews like some podcasts do. They do their own research and offer opinions based on the information they have found. Highly recommend!

The best of both worlds!
Stephanie and Derrick do an amazing job at doing deep dives into cases with a ton of information without making the podcasts drag on or feel dry. It’s hard to find a podcast that is entertaining without being disrespectful to the victims or one that’s respectful and thorough without being, well, boring. Their opposing viewpoints on certain topics and differing backgrounds bring so much more to the table. My husband has begun listening with me- he’s not even “into” true crime but finds this podcast entertaining and informative.

Stephanie’s research is unparalleled. The details she’s able to present for each case provides listeners with an unbiased opinion, based solely on the facts of the case. Most Balanced/Well Researched True Crime Out There
I am an absolute true-crime nerd, and I have listened to most of the podcasts out there. Derrick & Stephanie are the real deal. Do I always agree with them? No, and neither should I. If I wanted confirmation of everything I think, I could go find one (of the many) podcasts that thrive on regurgitating the existing narrative with a dose of outrage. This podcast makes me rethink stuff, and that’s exactly why I love it.

This is by far the best podcast in true crime. It’s evident that they research each case thoroughly. I’ve got my own strong opinions but they cover every case with an open mind and that means a lot. I appreciate the research that goes into every episode. New listeners will not be disappointed!

Great Podcast for Cleaning
Love that the episodes are long enough to listen to while doing a long task. I don’t really care what it’s about because dialog is always interesting. Stephanie is super intelligent and clearly does a lot of research and analysis. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because sometimes it seems like Stephanie belittles Derricks contributions or comments and it’s a little uncomfortable. Maybe it’s not intentional, but just an observation. Regardless, great podcast.

Coffee and gaslighting for all Muslim subscribers
I’ve been a long time listener who just had to stop over the coverage in the final episode of the murder of Hae Min Lee. I don’t have a team and generally enjoy Stephanie’s research but for her to deny widespread Islamophobia was an issue in America following 9/11 is just… heart breakingly ignorant and hateful from a show I used to look up to. I can’t convey to you how deeply disrespectful it is to gaslight a still suffering part of our population by saying what we experienced at that time wasn’t real. On behalf of my Muslim Granny, I’m done with y’all.

Love this podcast!!
Stephanie has been a favorite of mine on YouTube for quite some time. I feel like we are great friends because I have spent more time listening to her than I listen to anyone else in life. I was so excited to learn that she and Derrick have a podcast. It’s the same well thought out and researched quality from Stephanie’s YouTube channel, but with the added input from Derrick, which makes for richer content and a different perspective. The banter between the two is great and I feel like they attempt to present the facts without letting their opinions get in the way of the story. I have heard another True Crime YouTuber discuss the Hae Min Lee case before and received a story that was very skewed to one side. So glad to have stuck with the Crime Weekly 8 part Hae Min Lee series because I now get why this case is still talked about and I’m so glad to have learned so much about it from Derrick and Stephanie. This case and so many others really make this podcast stand out from others. I can’t say enough good things about it!

Stop with the constant Speculation
For certain cases they spend sooo much time speculating about what they victim or assailant MIGHT have done, or how a conversation MIGHT have went, or what THEY would do, etc. It’s really annoying, I wish they would just present the facts and then they can give their opinion at the end of the video. Also just because you tell us some facts doesn’t mean you are unbiased it is also HOW you present those facts.

I’ve been listening for years, but am finally writing a review because they really deserve it. Stephanie’s research is unmatched, and I think that the perspectives you both bring balance each other while helping you deliver a robust, fact-focused narrative. The recent Hae Min Lee series truly blew me away. I brought up issues with some coverage of this case in my thesis, so it was refreshing to see it covered this way. Please keep it up! :)

I loved the deep dive into the Hae Min Lee case. Hearing that Adnan drove past Leakin Park after Jay’s arrest was more confirmation of his guilt. Refreshingly honest, insightful, and informative!
If you want facts, dates, times, just specifics PERIOD, this is the podcast you should be listening to. They never go out of their way to offend anyone, but they also include their own opinions and ideas in the episodes - which I believe adds a dynamic many other podcasts are missing. Rather than just solely spouting off facts and rewording articles I could go read myself, they do extensive and in-depth research. Derek’s law enforcement background gives a new perspective to certain aspects of the cases that non-law enforcement folks may not otherwise be able to make heads or tails of. Stephanie is incredibly honest, but she’s also ABSOLUTELY fair when it comes to evaluating information and people involved. They are two very real people having very real conversations, and personally, I’m grateful they record and share them! If you don’t like them, guess what? you don’t have to listen to them! It’s not for the simple-minded, I will say that. The day this podcast ends will break my heart, so please keep it up!

I love this podcast!! The length that Stephanie goes to to research each case, the amazing first hand detective knowledge that Derek brings, and the clear distinction between facts and opinion helps each person clearly understand each case, inside and out! Going downhill
I am a longtime viewer of Stephanie on YT, and have listened to this pod since the beginning. It seems like Stephanie really prides herself in the accolades of her research and thoroughness, which was what initially drew me towards her coverage. But recently, in the last few cases they’ve covered, it seems like the goal is to make the episodes as long as possible, and as many as possible, to live up to those accolades. At times it feels like we are going in circles, and not much of substance is being discussed. I’ve found myself clicking off these episodes less than halfway through because of this. For now, I’m still listening and hoping it improves and goes back to the great case coverage it once was, but I’m apprehensive about the direction this podcast is going.

Longtime Stephanie fan
I found Crime Weekly through Stephanie’s YouTube. She’s always been my favorite true crime related YouTuber because she’s so well researched but also a great storyteller; so often people are just one or other! But Stephanie is great at both (please write a book, fiction or nonfiction!) But her dynamic with Derek really makes this podcast shine! They’re not afraid to disagree with one another and that’s refreshing. And derek’s background adds a really insightful viewpoint. This is problematic; but he’s the kind of ex police officer and detective I can actually get behind.

Zero ethics/Terrible story telling
These two represent everything that is wrong with True Crime coverage and are the poster children for the need to have serious discussion about the role of ethics in true crime. They have tackled the Hae Min Lee/Adnan Syed case AFTER Adnan was exonerated, misrepresented the facts, hidden evidence, and bent over backwards to be as controversial as possible JUST to drive listeners to their podcast. What they are doing is morally reprehensible and ethically disgusting. These two represent ALL of the things that people hate about the true crime genre. If Stephanie wants to write fiction, she should stick to it. She clearly has a vivid imagination that doesn’t have a place anywhere in the true crime industry. “True” is the first word for a reason. Stick to selling crappy coffee. If you two are reading this, you should be ashamed of what you are doing. I hope that you get slapped with a defamation lawsuit. It’s clear that you are both utterly ignorant. If you are reading this and they’ve swayed your view of any case, I highly recommend that you do your own research. Stephanie purposefully and willingly misrepresents “facts” JUST to drive listeners to the platform. You cannot rely on information that you receive here as they have proven themselves to be unreliable narrators.

Don’t waste your time
I used to love this podcast and Derrick and Stephanie even when I disagreed with them on a case, but I will not listen again after the Adnan Syed/Hae Min Lee case. It was eight long episodes filled with misinformation twisting or the facts and science and some full on lies. People look to them for an unbiased deep dive, but this was anything but. They even took down social posts because the posted pictures of the wrong person and instead of just apologizing for the mistake, the posted in their stories that the post was taken down because there was too much negativity in the comments. Not only lying, but basically gaslighting their audience just so they don’t have to admit to a mistake. I’ve lost all respect for the both of them and won’t be listening again.

Best podcast I have ever listened to
As a little girl, I was always super into true crime shows and I loved mystery/murder books and I always thought that made me weird. What a pleasure to find out as an adult I am like so many others who love this genre. I only started listening to podcasts a few years ago. I started with Serial, then others like Somebody Knows Something, Up and Vanished, My Favorite Murder, Crime Junkie, etc. I found Crime Weekly not too long ago while searching for a new podcast to start and I have been hooked ever since. It is BY FAR the best one out there. The hosts’ passion, expertise, objectivity, and banter are unmatched and I could listen to them all day (I used to until I caught all the way up). I eagerly await Fridays and try to make the episodes last all week, but I always finish on Friday haha. The Hae/Adnan case has always fascinated me and I was FIRM in my belief in his innocence (like, I weeped with joy when he was released). This has been so eye-opening and interesting and I am LOVING hearing things that go against what I have always believed and I love the new perspective this show is giving me. Thank you both for filling my lonely times and working so hard to give us the best every single week. P.s I wish this case was like 12 episodes, and the longer the better! Lol gotta side with my girl Stephanie on this one.

Red gloves
Great job on the case of Adnan Syed. I just have to bring up one thing… No finger prints of J but there are fingerprints of Edna. My thought is there’s no prints of Edna on the sneakers is it possible because he was wearing the red gloves that Jay mentioned in one of his statements? The red gloves have never been brought up again. But I remember Jace saying at one point when he came up to that man when you pop the trunk he said what are the red gloves for. And then and then open the trunk and saw hey in the trunk. Something it just keeps bothering me…

Thorough and Unbiased
This is one of the most thorough and well researched true crime podcasts there is. I appreciate the amount of time these hosts put in to presenting the facts. I have listened to so many podcasts and watched so many documentaries on some of the same cases covered here and learned more details on this podcast than any of those. I appreciate that the facts are presented, laid out in an organized and compelling fashion and then we are given S & D’s personal opinions at the end. As two very intelligent people, I love to hear their thoughts after being afforded the opportunity to form my own.

This is the best researched podcast that I subscribe to. (I subscribe to a lot!) I have read some reviews that mention there needs to be better research. I have to believe they only say that because they do not like some of the unpopular opinions of the hosts. But I like that they tell how they really feel about certain subjects. I love the long episodes and even the multiple parts because it is so detailed. You both are doing great. I do disagree with some of your opinions, but I am not coming for you. Love the detailed look, thank you for never losing your humanity. At times we detach to deal with unfathomable acts. If I had to choose a tc podcast to review something traumatic my family or I went thru I’d choose you guys. Your honest opinions, respect given to victims and families, never witch hunting is refreshing after being a tc consumer for so long. I find while listening Derick no longer receives a pay check he very much has a badge so to speak. He thinks like an intelligent detective and holds his integrity close to his heart professionally and you can tell personally, a true leader. I believe the ppl truly lost out when he stopped clocking in. We’d only benefit with more badges having Dericks code of conduct. Stephanie is a believer of fair and right over rules, I love the honest rebel in her, the attention to detail made it shocking she hits the wacky tabacky. I mean I believe if the attorneys in these cases listened they’d be shocked at what they would learn. Offers should rollin from lawyers to help gather info for cases and defense/attack ideas. Thank you Stephanie and Derrick for all the time and thought that you put into discussing these cases. You do it in a manner that provides a thorough understanding of the individuals involved, the events that occurred, and the investigative aftermath. Thank you for being respectful while still stating your opinions, which can sometimes go against the mainstream narrative. I have been listening and watching on YouTube for a long time, and what keeps me coming back is your unwavering commitment to seeking the truth. I’m an AML investigator, so I understand the importance of exploring all avenues and going where the evidence leads you; even if the discovery of one small detail means having to go back to square one on a case. I really appreciate all the hard work put into each episode. If anyone has had to do highly detailed research for job or university, you know how much effort it takes. In addition I also enjoy the way the hosts play off of each other. I’m not super into true crime, because it seems to exploitative of the victims. This podcast is respectful toward the families and donates money to help solve crimes. Keep up the great work. I look forward to my Fridays with the show.

One of the most informative and comprehensive true crime podcasts out there.
I have been a follower of Stephanie for quite some time via YouTube and have been a listener of the podcast since it started. Stephanie’s drive for detail and context fulfills something for me that very few true crime podcasts do. Do I always agree with her? Absolutely not. Sometimes I do feel that the conclusions she comes to have inherent bias based on her unique experience. But I am at a loss to come up with a single other human being who isn’t. Stephanie is clearly confident and I love that Derrick holds her accountable for her overconfidence. That being said their recent coverage of the Adnan Syed case was absolutely ground breaking. Take out all of the opinions, side lines and banter in between and you will still not find a more comprehensive timeline of this case referencing in majority official court documents. I don’t disagree that the corruption of the Baltimore police could be deeper than we know, but the fact remains - Even if Jay was deeply cohersed by the police, we only needed one person to place Adnan at track practice. One person to place him at school that day with a unique interaction to show that Adnan wasn’t involved and the police staged the entire thing and we don’t have that. Even if you dislike the hosts of this podcast and their opinions, I have yet to see anybody online dispute the simple fact above. I am sure a lot of peoples eyes were opened after listening to this coverage. I know mine were. Thank you both for challenging the status quo.

Hae Min Lee Case
Derrick and Stephanie, I have gained a lot of respect and appreciation for the podcast listening to your take on the Hae Min Lee. I have been searching for some time for a take on Adnan Syed’s guilt or innocence that was less biased. While I greatly enjoyed Serial and Undisclosed, I felt misled at times and wanted a more balanced opinion. I have listened to almost all of your episodes. You both are so insightful and often challenge my beliefs. Thank you!

Please, move on. How much longer Adnan Sayed??? 😭 I love this show but for like more than a month every time I open it I close it back up I can’t with this breakdown you guys really over did it. It resolved! The case is done! Adnan didn’t do it! Every other podcasts has covered it in a decent amount of time. Please I beg you change the case

I have been a listener for more than a year now, but I want to give a special shout-out for how well-done the Adnan series has been. I’ve listened to Serial multiple times and have also seen the HBO series etc and have still found myself learning so much new information and hearing new perspectives.

If I could give this show 10 stars, I would. Your Adnan Syed series literally knocked my socks off. My only complaint is that TCW didn’t exist back when I first listened to Serial. There is SOOOO much I didn’t know. Thank you for your professionalism in delivering FACTS. Regardless of how your final thoughts made me feel, I can’t deny the points you laid in front of me and I’ve been forced to question my original stance. This entire podcast is incredible though, and other than The Prosecutors, this is the only podcast I recommend to friends when discussing solid true crime content. Thank you for your positive contribution to the true crime community- it badly needs more of it!

Awesome!
I love a deep dive! The dynamic between the hosts distinguished this show from other true crime podcasts (although, I enjoy a lot of those, as well!). Stephanie’s thorough, detail oriented research combined with Derek’s investigation experience invites questions and helps show all sides of a case. I also appreciate that they cite their sources and clearly state when they are expressing only an opinion. Their sparring is candid, but also fun and respectful - I love when they disagree, partially because it highlights that there are many aspects to every case!

I usually am not a fan of podcasts with 2 hosts going back and forth, but this one includes only a minimal amount of banter and what there is is usually illuminating or relevant. I think they do a great job of doing deep dives into cases in an open-minded and balanced way. I loved the recent series on Hae Min Lee! (Not going to refer to the recently freed individual; we’ve all heard his name way too much already). Keep up the great work!

I’ve been listening to this podcast for almost 2 years. Stephanie, learn how to pronounce the word corroborate. There is no W in it. You sound like a 2 year old. Derek manages to talk and talk without actually saying anything. I’ve gotten to the point where I literally have to fast forward as soon as he opens his mouth. I can’t anymore. Good luck.

I absolutely love your podcast, I have been a Stephanie fan for years, her youtube channel is the best for true crime and all around spooky content. I started listening to crime weekly about a year ago and have loved every single second of it! You two have such a humors yet professional dynamic that makes listening both fun and informative. As a young college student I really appreciate the tips that Derek gives on how to stay safe, and I always share the advice with my friends! The podcast is so engaging and I often listen to the newest episode twice to three times throughout the week in anticipation of the drop on Friday! Love you both, and genuinely look forward to hearing your episodes every week. Has potential BUT …
The hosts have a nice rapport but research is seriously lacking in a lot of the cases they cover … either that or they’re willfully ignorant. If you’re already familiar with some of these stories, it can be really tough to listen to them completely gloss over pretty basic facts or well known theories (ie no one who thinks that the Ramseys were involved in Jon Benet’s death believe that her brother tied the garrote 😳).

The best crime show podcast
I've listened to them all. Most of them are TERRIBLE. I first discovered Stephanie less than a year ago on YouTube and watched almost every video. I am so impressed by her gift as a storyteller and writer and the amount of research she does for each show. I find Stephanie and Derrick to be a great match, bringing Derrick's expertise as a former police officer to join Stephanie's detective skills and writing. I'm also impressed to see two Aquarians getting along so well🤣 (l suspected Derrick was also an Aquarian. Being one myself, I have an uncanny ability to sense others born under my sign, though that could just be my Scorpio rising) 🤣 What truly sets these two apart is their deep humanity, passion for justice, and their intelligence and reasoning skills. I would love to meet both of them and have a drink together. They're real people, not just plastic influencers that you see all over social media. So, S and D: if you're ever in Boston, let me know! I'm suzcthulu on Instagram. I'd be honored if you follow me. Keep the great crime coverage going! Update: Ignore the trolls! The most in depth coverage of the Adnan and Hae ever. Far superior to the Serial documentary. (12/2/22)

Like any respectable 21st century gal and SAHM I love me some true crime. This is easily my favorite true crime podcast. It’s so well researched, the information is presented in a very well rounded way that sheds light on all sides/possibilities, and this duo is so funny and fun to listen. Great balance of factual and informative and playful making it so easy to listen. Coulda been more thorough on the Hae Min Lee case though 😂 JK

Ummmm what??
I just listened to your latest episode and I have to disagree with your assessment of how you presented the Hae Min Lee episodes. Typically you guys explain why you feel a certain way when discussing cases usually by the 2nd or 3rd episodes but I have to say from the jump you guys attacked Adnan than any other “suspect” or person involved in this tragedy. It was not fair across the board and it was really a turn off. Go back and listen to previous cases and then come back and listen to this one. You will hear it. None of us have a dog in this fight except for justice for Hae Min. Stephanie saying she can’t believe that everyone involved trying to solve this case would all be on the same page with their biased and racial attitudes towards Adnan really did me in. Are you that ignorant?? Have you not heard of Implicit Bias?? Racial Microaggressions??? ESPECIALLY in 1999!! Come on. You can’t really believe that especially for how long you have been researching cases. I hope you can view this case with more neutrality and fairness. It’s irresponsible.

Unbiased and Honest
I’ve been listening to CW for a while. I’ve also listened to a ton of podcasts on the Hae Min Lee case. I love how Derrick and Stephanie deep dive into every single episode that they do. I appreciate both of their perspectives in candor on the topics. With that being said, I thought on you a ton of details and facts about this case. Boy was I wrong! This series has changed my perspective on the case and forced me to realize it’s not okay just to take someone else’s *research and opinions* at face value. They are unbiased, analytical, and honest. My new favorite, a must-add to your true crime library
I’m a true crime superfan, and I really like the shows that include professional perspectives, like legal or law enforcement, so this show really fits the bill. Stephanie and Derrick have great chemistry, I appreciate that they challenge each other, and I’m always impressed that they manage to cover all the unique details of a case. I’ve heard most better known cases covered a dozen different ways by different podcasts and TV shows and these two still deliver content that keeps me super engaged. Well done! Fascinating and Fantastic
I love your unbiased deep dives into these complex cases that so many people have been influenced biased media and social media presentations and emotion. Your opinions are clear and based on facts and you give people the space to draw their own conclusions. Your skepticism comes without bias and goes to wherever and whenever it’s warranted whether it be the police, prosecutors, defense lawyers. This nuance is more sophisticated than much as what to available to true crime podcast listeners. Five Plus Stars!

And tbh, I thought I would hate this podcast at first. I came from Stephanie’s channel and when she first linked with Derek I was like “no, no, no.” But it turns out that was an awesome move and Derek brings such great perspective from the law enforcement lens. I do look forward to listening to y’all’s analysis on Fridays and you two have done an amazing job with the Hae Min Lee case. Blind to their own biases
Interesting takes and good flow, but they truly need to look up some innocence project cases. Just because someone was arrested and even convicted isn’t absolute proof of guilt. Otherwise why are you even bothering with an 8 ep deep dive? They willfully ignore police misconduct/incompetence. It’s frustrating to listen to.

I really enjoy your podcasts. I like that you have two people with skills that bring a lot to the table! I love the detail in your presentation(s)! A critique- cut back on the arguing. I get it- you both get into heated debates about things, but sometimes it’s extremely distracting. Hands Down the Best
I love this podcast and could listen every day. My only minor issue is that Derrick gives disclaimers before everything he says and it gets irritating. Has it has a 4 star for awhile but this last episode is ridiculous. We do not need 18 hours on one case, you already made your opinions clear by episode 5, not to mentioned, you probably spent 25 minutes during these episodes just to say “we will talk about this more later but.” Really going down hill the last couple weeks but this 9 part 18 hours is just ridiculous

Very good!
Love this podcast. Stephanie is very articulate and easy to listen to, which I love. Derrick is good too. I know he is a former or current police officer. He does have a bias towards cops that he acknowledges, which I appreciate. Most cops are good people, I believe. It’s the few bad actors who tend to make the news and stick in our minds, unfortunately. But I really like listening to them. This is probably the first crime podcast I’ve heard that has true objectivity.

I found this podcast on accident one day and I obsessively listened to every single episode and now impatiently wait for the new episodes to come out. I look forward to a lengthy episode each week! I appreciate the details and the structure of the episodes. They bring great insight and research. Also, love the banter between the two hosts, I catch myself laughing along with them. So very easy to listen to and follow. I luckily came across this podcast when googling to see if Stephanie had a podcast after watching some of her you tube videos. She’s great alone but even better with Derrick. Unfortunately this podcast isn’t one the popped up in any of my searches when looking for new crime shows to follow. So happy I found it! Hope you get more listeners because it’s a wonderful podcast!

One of the best true crime podcasts
As a Derrick fan from years ago which is how I found this pod when they dropped the first episode. Love his voice and take on the cases. I didn’t know Stephanie before this podcast but her research is thorough and shows well written. I enjoy their banter and although sometimes the case series can be drawn out a teeny bit too long it’s still one of my faves.

Best true crime podcast!
The vibe between Derrick and Stephanie is what I live for. Love the sarcasm and the ability to agree to disagree. You can tell they both really respect each other and their opinions. Stephanie is the most thorough researcher out there & Derek has great insight from a law enforcement perspective. They just do everything right & pay respect to the victims as well. All time favorite podcast.

My new favorite true crime podcast
I’ve been listening to true crime podcasts since the beginning of Thinkin Sideways — a long time. Crime Weekly is my new go-to. It took me a while to warm up to Stephanie but she’s the real deal. She is the research queen and cares about the victims. Derek has a balanced perspective from his past as a cop. I love the longer cases, keep them coming. I would love to see them do the Kris Kemers/Lisanne Froon case. I’d love to get Stephanie’s thoughts on that.

The podcast would be great without Stephanie Harlowe. She’s known for extreme victim blaming and has said very offensive things about people of color, specifically African American men. This podcast would 1000% thrive without her. Trust me

Love the honesty
Whether I agree or not, it’s refreshing when people just tell the truth & their thoughts, which you both do w/ integrity. As for this case, my biggest hang up is that Adnan has been lying a majority of his life to his family, so it’s second nature to him. He learned from his father who also has lied about his son’s whereabouts. All these years in prison have only given him a chance to get even better at telling lies. He’s not the only liar in this twisted game, as we all know. Someone had to have seen Hae leave that day from school & if she left alone. The ball was dropped too long ago & w/ people like Jay, more than likely we will never know the real truth of what happened. Sadly, this entire case is only now about Adnan & NOT Hae who tragically lost her life. All these books, movies, podcasts are just making him more well-known and treated as a victim when we do not know if he is or is not….we only know Hae is the real victim and no one who said they were her friend could even come forward to tell the truth. I feel for Hae’s family as they have to keep reliving their loss.

Been listening since the first episode but..
Almost skipped Hai Min Lee case because I have heard so many other podcasts on it but I am so glad I didn’t! I love how deep they dig!! They make a great team and have only gotten better with each episode. They seem to have like a brother/sister relationship now and have no problem keeping each other in check. My only criticism, Derrick always feels the need to over explain worried what a listener might think. Screw what people think, just say it, you live under a rock..lol

Top Notch Coverage from a former prosecutor
You guys are great and the coverage of the two cases I’ve listened to (Casey Anthony and Adnan) is the most detailed I’ve heard. It’s also obvious you both make an earnest attempt to objectively analyze these cases. Just one FYI as I listen to Episode 5 of the Adnan coverage. This is relative to how Miranda rights apply to juvenile interrogations. At the time of Adnan’s interrogation, Maryland had no state law requiring parental presence prior to waiver of Miranda rights. Unless state law specifically requires parental involvement prior to waiver of Miranda rights (I believe CA had such a law), minors can waiver Miranda rights. In RI, for example, whether a minor validly waived Miranda is a totality of the circumstances test. So a 13 year old, with no prior interactions with law enforcement, would definitely have to have parental involvement. But a 17 year old who appeared intelligent, and without obvious cognitive issues could likely waive without such parental presence. Such a minor point and not meant to criticize your phenomenal effort here at all. Halfway into this episode and can’t wait for more coverage. Thank!

Attention to Detail
I am amazed at the amount of time, energy and (specifically) research that goes into each case. Stephanie and Derrick focus on the small details and the big picture every time. I love the way they look at all angles, including the theories, suspects and playing devil’s advocate. It shows the dedication and passion they have for these cases. My husband and I travel a lot, so the long episodes are appreciated! This is my favorite podcast and I hope it never goes away!

Great variety of cases.
I like that they cover so many cases and most are unknown. Most cases in my opinion are told over and over. However, this podcast covers a lot of different cases big or small. Derrick and Stephanie are great story tellers. Reason for the low rating and why I unsubscribed is because I feel Stephanie interrupts Derrick a whole lot in almost every episode. :( I think she becomes too emotional (which I understand because these cases are wild) but she could probably cut back a little on letting her emotions get the best of her. Simply because it leads her to cutting him off a lot when he is speaking and putting his opinion out there. I kept listening hoping maybe she would realize how much she cuts him off but every episode is the same vibe. If you can get through the interrupting and emotional rants it is a great true crime podcast to binge.

This podcast came highly recommended and of course everyone has different tastes, but 2+ hours an episode is already ridiculous and when so much of that is just explaining things to the dumb-sounding cop? Why is this so popular?

Here for Stephanie
At least on the Tara Calico episodes, I don’t think having a cop’s perspective adds anything interesting or helpful to the case. It seems like Derrick has barely researched the case and basically makes excuses for shoddy police work. I found myself fast forwarding because I found him irritating. Hate to sound rude, but Stephanie could hold her own.

I hesitated but…
My least favorite thing about true crime podcasts is the banter between multiple hosts. Casefile is my favorite because, it’s just the facts ma’am; there are zero tangents and the cases are well researched and well told. So when I stumbled on this podcast and saw a young woman and a young man as hosts, I was concerned. But I wanted to hear what they had to say about the Springfield Three and listened to all 3 long episodes. And now I’m catching up on their old cases. There is some banter between the hosts, but it’s not bad and it’s all related to the case and offers some insights. They do a ton of research and they keep the breaks to a brief minimum. I like that there episodes are long and well thought out. I’m new here but happy so far!

The Best True Crime Podcast You’ll Find
Derrick and Stephanie are the best! This is my favorite podcast hands down. They put in the work! They are dedicated to giving you the best, most informative podcast possible. Stephanie will do top notch research and give you a deep dive into these cases that you won’t find anywhere else while Derrick provides a unique perspective from years of invaluable experience gained through his career in law enforcement. This podcast is not only about the crimes that they discuss, but it’s informative. They provide safety tips and education on how to hopefully avoid these situations yourself. They care, and it shows. It’s a great service to the true crime community to educate those of us who are still here and to respectfully remember those who are not. THANK YOU STEPHANIE AND DERRICK!

I LOVE this podcast, but…
I love Crime Weekly, it’s one of my favorite podcasts. I have been following Stephanie for years and I always look forward to hearing her lay out a case. If theres a case I want to *really* understand, I look to her reporting to do so. Derrick is also an amazing co host and his experience is invaluable. That said, I really wish there was more diversity with the case selections. Of course, all these cases have victims whose stories deserve to be told. I’m not saying these cases shouldn’t be covered. I just feel like the cases Stephanie chooses often fit a certain mold for the most widely-covered cases, like abused women or children disappearing from sketchy parents’ homes. Most of these cases happen in suburbia and involve white people. Again, it’s not to say that these cases shouldn’t be covered, but Stephanie’s journalism skills could shine a light on some different devastating and complex cases. For example, we have the case of Lauren Smith-Fields or Tamla Horsford. Even without focusing on *racism* as a capital T Topic, these are fascinating unsolved cases that introduce some more diversity to the line up. Yes I know there has been a *couple* cases involving POC, or non-family cases, but still. Even cases that are not individual murders, like I remember once Derrick said he’d love to cover the Boston Bombing. That would be a dope episode. I’m not sure how diverse the audience for this show is, but I know if I’m listening there’s more like me who are. I write this with all the love and respect and I hope to keep listening :)

I like Stephanie Harlow enough but I would have kept listening to this podcast if she wasn’t so vehement and adamant about her OPINIONS, wasn’t always talking over Derek and rarely considering his experience when he states his opinions and perceptions. I enjoy the podcast, but Stephanie comes off as mainly wanting to hear herself talk, and validating her own biases. It just doesn’t seem objective, which is fine .. just not for me.

more facts, less tangents pls
Derrick is amazing. His experience and knowledge of criminology comes from his actual career. He’s an expert but has a conversational style that feels like listening to a friend. Most importantly he is calm and objective. I struggle with Stephanie. She’s a hobbyist true crime analyst. She gets over-emotional and goes off on tangents. Like yeah obviously these crimes are awful. Some people are awful. Why keep stating the obvious? I want to hear an analysis based on criminology and psychology pulled from facts and educated hypotheses. At times Stephanie sounds unrefined and much younger than Derrick because she relies on emotion (especially anger and sarcasm). Her “because I’m a Mahm… speaking as a Mahm” rhetoric is basic. I think she needs to slow down and take a more analytical approach like her co-host. She does have one of the most pleasant voices in the podcast universe.

Found the podcast through The Prosecutors podcast recommendation and now I’m hooked. I was so surprised to see Derrick as I used to be a huge BB fan too so I am now getting to see him in his actual element. Love Stephanie and am hooked!

Summer wells
I am from East Tennessee born and raised! I live about 45 min from where summer lives, I don’t appreciate Stephanie acting like we’re a bunch of drug dealing hillbillies, yes there are drugs just like anywhere else, I’m sure not anymore than what’s in your bigger cities, such as New York. It just came off a bit snobbish and “I’m better than you” attitude

Love
I am a true crime podcast snob. I listen to them 24-7, and I am so glad I found this one and this is the best one I have found so far. I enjoy the long multiple episode segments because I want all the info. All of it. And they sure give you all of the details. Not just one side, all the sides. And I appreciate that. I highly like and recommend this podcast!!!!!

Best True Crime Podcast!
I’ve been a fan of Stephanie for years on YouTube. Her research skills and storytelling ability are second to none. This podcast is no exception. She and Derek deep-dive into these mysteries, showing us every possible angle, every possible suspect, while never repeating facts, never drawing the subject out too much. Stephanie and Derek, y’all are amazing! I hope you continue for many more years!

This is the best way to get every detail you need
It always amazes me the research Stephanie puts into these cases, she’s phenomenal. And then to be able to get Derrick’s professional perspective as an ex-detective helps me slow down and process that research in a way that police might have. Great people, great team, excellent podcast.

My new favorite podcast
Listen, in the beginning I wasn’t a huge fan. I’m not gonna lie. I didn’t understand their dynamic. However, I have listened to all of their episodes and they are now my #1 over Morbid or CJ. I love BMTC and that’s where I came from. I am so happy I gave them another chance after the first case they covered. They are respectful of each other but also debate without belittling the other. It’s so nice to hear two different perspectives. I will definitely be subscribing to their Patreon. Can’t get enough of Crime Weekly!!

Very long
I love this podcast. Stephanie and Derrick are fantastic podcasters. They provide great insight, have good talking chemistry, and give different perspectives. My only negative is that the podcasts are so long and sometimes there’s 3 (or more) parts. If they can shorten it to 1 hour or less and no more than 2 parts, that would be perfect! Otherwise, they’re doing a great job!!

INCREDIBLE
My favorite podcaster and YouTuber of all time! I love the back-and-forth conversation between Derek and Stephanie. Stephanie doesn’t just tell the stories she makes you feel like you’re living them, her deep dives and attention to detail with descriptions is outstanding. You truly feel like you were in the story. PS:Derek's hair is dishwater blonde.

Love the in-depth research.
I have recently started listening to this podcast and it has quickly become one of my favorites. I have always enjoyed in-depth stories but this is more as it’s thorough and it’s a variety of stories, best of both worlds. Love Stephanie’s voice and the great interaction of the hosts. I always look forward to the new Friday podcast.

Love your podcast! Would absolutely love to hear your take on the McStay case. Please consider this. Also, would be very interested in your take on the Maura Murray case. Inconsistent and wrong info
I listened to the first few episodes and loved it! And then I hit an episode where I know quite a few details from a very close personal connection. Within the first five minutes, two pieces of information were wrong. Now here’s the thing. The incorrect facts probably had no impact on the case. But, these were things that could have been clarified with a simple Google search. Which made me wonder what else they are getting wrong. I love the former law enforcement officer being involved as I think he brings a real world, non speculative perspective. That is so refreshing and great. But, they have to report on the facts. That’s where I think some of these true crime podcasts can be really fall and they owe it to their audiences to report accurate info.

a real gem in a saturated true crime market
If you’re looking for a true crime deep dive, look no further than this show. Stephanie’s research skills are truly unparalleled. A testament to their professionalism and prosocial intention, she and Derrick can parse unfounded speculation from realistic theory and include harrowing case details while remaining respectful and victim-focused. Get ready to be more well-informed about these cases than just about anyone else (outside of law enforcement directly working them) and to genuinely enjoy learning about the personalities and perspectives of both hosts over time.

I recently discovered Crime Weekly after listening to podcasts for the last couple of years and it has quickly become my favorite. I love how thorough Stephanie is in her research, and how well she tells the story. I enjoy the discussions between Stephanie and Derrick. I appreciate the perspective and professionalism Derrick’s law enforcement experience and point of view bring to the discussion. I love that he states the facts and his opinion fairly, without negativity or judgment. As soon as I’m caught up on all episodes of Crime Weekly, I’ll be watching all the episodes of Breaking Homicide and Stephanie’s YouTube show. **Really surprised by some of these comments. Love this podcast
Love this podcast and love Stephanie and Derek. They do deep dives and give way more information then I’ve found in other podcasts. I really enjoy them going back and forth because my girl Stephanie we could wear tin foil hats together with the conspiracy theories. I really enjoy Derek because hearing someone who can give a true law enforcement/PI opinion is great. A lot of podcasts is “well I would Do this or the police should’ve done this.” He is very straight forward on cops and investigators are human too and while they do their best they can’t get everything perfect every time. He will give credit when credit is due but also say when things definitely weren’t done the way they should’ve been. Also love both of them because they constantly remind you, you don’t know how you’ll react if you’ve never been through it but they both have families so they can say the feelings of telling the stories and the terror they feel thinking of going through it. As far as everyone hating on Stephanie and Derek the way they talk or their opinions… it’s their podcasts. They are giving facts about the cases and THEIR opinions. That’s what you get to do when it’s your podcast. While some may not like them, some of us love them. ❤️

Could be much better!
I really love listening to Stephanie, she is great telling the stories!! I would give it 5 stars if it wasn’t for the fact that Derrick is there and he comes across as being very arrogant and doesn’t waste an opportunity to remind everyone that he is a former cop. It gets really old and he really doesn’t have anything good to add, just his opinions which are not really needed. I wish it was just Stephanie and the shows wouldn’t be sooo long!

Good Research but please stop stating the obvious
I like the scripted portion of this podcast. It’s very well written and great research. However, Derrick please stop repeating yourself or repeating what Stephanie just said! Also comments like “ I don’t know because I wasn’t there” and “this could be something or it could be nothing” really don’t add anything to the content. Your insights are awesome and they are great on their own without all the filler.

Writing this because I’m annoyed at some of the Stephanie Harlowe haters I’ve seen in some of these reviews. And to the person who said we aren’t interested in their lives… speak for yourself. Rumors and unnamed source aren’t truths
I spent 35 minutes trying to listen to the Casey Anthony coverage, from bashing George Anthony based on rumors from his ex wife and a ‘source’ to the lack of knowledge well known facts of the case were unbearable. Derrick is good on other shows, his co host here…hard pass

Completely Absorbing
This podcast & hosts are new to me and I’m finding myself riveted. I appreciate the insights from both the law enforcement angle as well as an informed true crime tracker. The format, especially after early changes, flows naturally, and my internal questions about the cases become answered quickly. The hosts have a wonderful dynamic and they are respectful of crime victims & families. I like how speculation is qualified or mostly kept to a minimum, and shout outs for what worked in each case come easily from the hosts. Sometimes the discussions stray from the case, but they are always thought-provoking and relevant. It’s very hard to find podcasts that aren’t lopsided with opinion. This podcast, except for one notable case so far, seems to mostly reign in. Strong work.

The best
I listen to A LOT of podcasts, mostly true Crime and this is by far my favorite. I like that they you really deep dive into every aspect of the case; unlike most other podcasts, so I learn things on pretty much on every case because of that. Also, the 2 hosts compliment each other and it feels natural, unlike some other co-hosted podcasts. Kudos to you both!

Can’t really listen anymore, but it’s a good one
Love this podcast and the deep dives and insightful banter, but Stephanie’s regular judgmental rants have become quite off-putting. After about a dozen episodes I’ve found the preachy rants detract and distract from the point, even the case as a whole. She’s not even above rants about how abuse victims “should have left sooner”… I thought we were generally past that form of thinking as a society.

Adore this podcast! Recently, so much of true crime seems like a fad or money grab. Steph & Derek so such an incredible job telling the story in an interesting, attention-grabbing way while also reminding us what it’s about- the victims. Stephanie’s storytelling and focus on being respectful of victims plus Derrick’s insight and law enforcement background is a winning combo. - S3 Ep117: West Memphis Three: Troubled Teenager to Murder Suspect (Part 3)West Memphis, Arkansas is located in Crittenden County and is directly across the Mississippi River from Memphis Tennessee, but in 1993, West Memphis and Memphis were worlds apart. Memphis boasted a healthy and growing population of over 620 thousand, while West Memphis had just over 28 thousand residents. But Memphis, TN struggled with high crime rates, with 1993 setting a record for the most homicides in one year, a record that wasn’t broken until 2016. West Memphis Arkansas had a more small town, laid back feel, and as cliche as it sounds, people felt safe leaving their doors unlocked and letting their young children play outside all day with no supervision. That was until May 5th, 1993, when three eight year old boys rode away on their bikes, eager to expel the energy they had built up all day while sitting in their second grade classrooms at Weaver Elementary School, but they never came home. It wouldn’t be long before the residents of West Memphis and then the world found out what happened to Stevie Branch, Michael Moore and Christopher Byers. Their battered and mutilated bodies were found the next day in a swampy wooded area known to locals as Robin Hood Hills, and the community of West Memphis felt a shockwave hit their community that they would not recover from for some time. Within a month three teenagers were arrested and charged with capital murder, and it wasn’t long before whispers of witchcraft, devil worship and occult killings rippled throught the homes and businesses of West Memphis, and those whispers eventually turned into a loud roar, a roar that might accompany an angry mob looking for someone to blame for an unimaginable tragedy, akin to the infamous witch hunts that are dotted throughout history. This is the story of six boys from West Memphis, Arkansas; three were brutally murdered and stolen from this world far before their time, the other three were marched to the proverbial gallows, guilty in the court of public opinion, and found guilty in an actual court of law. Six lives destroyed, six lives forever changed, six lives eternally tied together. - S3 Ep114: Jennifer Kesse: "Chino" (Part 3)Orlando, Florida - Home of Mickey Mouse and sunny beach vacations, a city that 60 million people flock to every year whether it’s for the theme parks or just the sun and heat that South Florida is known for. But for the friends and family of 24 year old Jennifer Kesse, this city would become a symbol of all that was wrong and evil in the world. Jennifer was last seen on January 23rd, 2006, she spoke to her family and her boyfriend on the phone that evening and said she was going to bed, she was tired from a trip she had just home from. But the next day, when she didn’t show up for work, her parents traveled to her Orlando condo and found everything normal, as if she had woken up and planned to go to work that day. There was still water in the shower, clothes tossed on an unmade bed, and a wet towel in the laundry room. Days later, Jennifer’s 2004 black Chevy Malibu would be found abandoned a mile down the road, in a not so great part of town, but the car held no clues as to where Jennifer Kesse was either. The one clue that law enforcement was able to retrieve should have cracked the case wide open. It was surveillance video of a person parking Jennifer’s car and walking away from it without even a glance back, and the surveillance clicked a photo of this person every three seconds, and every three seconds this person's face was obscured by a tall wrought iron fence. To this day, Jennifer Kesse has not been found, dead or alive, and the people who love her have fought tirelessly for answers, a fight that included receiving over 16 thousand pages of police records on the investigation, and these pages held more clues which has only fed the fire of this mystery. - S3 Ep111: Daniel Robinson: A Father's Fight to Find His Son (Part 2)The rugged Sonoran Desert covers approximately 100,000 square miles and includes most of the southern half of Arizona, southeastern California, most of the Baja California peninsula and much of the Mexican state of Sonora. It is the hottest desert in both the United States and Mexico, and there is a lack of water and forageable food to be found there. Between the hot day temperatures, the freezing night temperatures, and intimidating predators such as mountain lions and bobcats prowling around, the Sonoran Desert is the last place you would want to venture out into without proper clothing or supplies, but it appears that this is exactly what 24-year-old geologist Daniel Robinson did on June 23rd, 2021. Reportedly, Daniel drove into the desert and was never seen again, although his vehicle was discovered on its side in a ravine almost a month later. But during the investigation, details began to emerge that added mystery to this tragedy; Reports from friends and family of Daniel’s odd behavior in the days leading up to his disappearance, all of Daniel’s pictures on Instagram being erased around the time he went missing, and evidence from Daniel’s vehicle that suggested foul play. Dozens of searches have been conducted for Daniel over the past 19 months, and although human bones and human remains have been uncovered, none of them led back to Daniel Robinson. (Part 5)In the early hours of December 9th, 2001, a man named Michael Peterson made a panicked phone call to 911, telling them that his wife, 48 year old Kathleen Peterson, had fallen down the stairs and they should hurry because she was still breathing. Six minutes later he called back and reported that Kathleen was no longer breathing, she was gone. Initially, it appeared that this had been a tragic accident, but as first responders and law enforcement began to arrive at the scene, the tension was palpable. The Peterson family and friends felt that Michael was being unfairly targeted, that the police were only suspicious of him because he had been loudly outspoken and critical of the Durham North Carolina Police Department in his role as columnist for a local paper. The law enforcement professionals on the scene claimed that from the moment they walked in, it felt as if something wasn’t right, and there was far too much blood for the death of Kathleen Peterson to be attributed to a simple fall down the stairs. It was a hot Summer afternoon in July of 2012 when young cousins, Lyric Cook-Morrissey and Elizabeth Collins happily rode away from Eizabeth’s house in Evansdale, Iowa. No one could imagine that these two little girls would never return home, and even though their bicycles and belongings were found within hours of them being reported missing, it would take months to find their bodies and lay them to rest. Over the last decade, the loss of Elizabeth and Lyric has had ripple effects through their community, and the stress and pain of never knowing what happened caused a rift amongst their family members. And with the recent arrest of Riched Allen, the suspect in the Delphi murders case, law enforcement has been investigating a possible connection between Allens and what happened to Elizabeth and Lyric in Evansdale just five years prior. Both crimes took place in small Midwestern towns of just a few thousand people, Evansdale is only three hundred miles from Delphi. Both crimes involved the horrific murders of two young girls who were out together alone, and there has been discussion about how the dates of both disappearances are anagrams of each other, with Elizabeth and Lyric vanishing on 7-13-12, and Abby and Libby going missing on 2-13-17. - S2 Ep102: Hae Min Lee & Adnan Syed: The Conclusion (Part 8)It was an unseasonably warm January afternoon in Baltimore County, Maryland when 18-year-old Woodlawn High School senior Hae Min Lee left school in her gray 1998 Nissan Sentra and headed out to pick up her six-year-old cousin from kindergarten before going to her job at the local LensCrafters. But sometime after leaving Woodlawn High School and before picking up her little cousin, Hae Min Lee vanished into thin air. Less than a month later, maintenance worker Alonzo Sellers was driving back to his job at Coppin State College and drinking a beer when he realized he had to use the bathroom, and it couldn’t wait. Mr. Sellers pulled over on the side of the road and walked deep into the woods to relieve himself, at which point he made a gruesome discovery. According to his later testimony, Mr. Sellers said quote, “when I looked down I seen something that looked like hair, something that was covered by dirt. And I looked real good again, and that’s when I seen what looked like a foot” end quote. Alonzo Sellers had stumbled upon the body of Hae Min Lee, she had been strangled to death by the bare hands of her attacker, and within a few weeks, the police would make an arrest for her murder. But, the suspect was a person that no one would have suspected capable of such a horrific crime, the ex-boyfriend of Hae, a sweet and smart 17-year-old named Adnan Syed. - S2 Ep101: Hae Min Lee & Adnan Syed: The Trouble With Jay (Part 7)It was an unseasonably warm January afternoon in Baltimore County, Maryland when 18-year-old Woodlawn High School senior Hae Min Lee left school in her gray 1998 Nissan Sentra and headed out to pick up her six-year-old cousin from kindergarten before going to her job at the local LensCrafters. But, the suspect was a person that no one would have suspected capable of such a horrific crime, the ex-boyfriend of Hae, a sweet and smart 17-year-old named Adnan Syed.
