This Podcast Is Everything to Me
I started Chelsea’s podcast from one of the books I read (I’m glad my mom died) and I had to process what I read with someone. And so I entered the door into Chelsea’s world. I have devoured the back catalog, am now reading along the books that you are. My new cookie status brings me joy this new year. But I want to share why - it’s Chelsea and her vulnerability, her joy, her heart. I’ve had a confusing last year myself and somehow listening to her process and share her insights is enriching my life and showing me something new about who I want to be. Chelsea - you pass your own Bookdell test (poddell test? 😂) for me. You are making my life better. And for that I thank you. ❤️

Recommend if you’re a sucker for celebrity memoirs, duh
I love celebrity memoirs and I love this podcast! That said, I think a bit more research could be done on some of the celebrities that are discussed here. For example, Fred Armisen is a dangerous and problematic creep who countless women have spoken out about, yet he is somehow still cherished by Hollywood and the community at large. Innocent until proven guilty, I guess, just ask Woody Allen. Anyway sorry to drag you. I will keep listening and you did inspire me to read at least 1 celebrity memoir I hadn’t read yet.

new 🍪 binge
I just started listening about a month ago while unpacking from my move and repairing things in my new home and I’m almost out of episodes already! And yes I’ve even listened to the ones that are only on Patreon. I came to listen to Caissie st Onge’s episode and I couldn’t believe I had never heard of this show before and kept listening. So, SO glad I found this pod and the cookies and you most of all Chelsea! I also had a super complicated upbringing and I’m really candid about it but it’s so rare to find others who are (in my experience anyway) and I’m so glad you’re using your platform and your voice and ily 🤟🏻

One of my favorite podcasts!
I LOVE this podcast so much! The guests are phenomenal and every episode brings something completely different. Sometimes you’ll laugh, sometimes you’ll cry, sometimes you’ll pause the podcast to order the book mid episode! Chelsea isn’t afraid to bring her own life experiences to the table when digging into some of the trauma in these memoirs which I deeply appreciate. I look forward to seeing what books she covers in 2023.

So kind, funny, and moving.
I love this podcast!!! I’ll even tune in for celebrities I don’t know just to hear the input. I haven’t jived with all of the guests, but I’ll keep listening because I love Chelsea!!! I just bought the Patreon and it was worth it for the Viola Davis episode alone. My only request is Vicky as a guest again!!

Incredible, insightful, warm, uplifting, brilliantly done
Longtime listener, first time reviewer. Chelsea & her fabulous crew of dream guests do an amazing job guiding us through celebrity memoirs. In this show I find thoughtful insights, belly laughs, and connection. The theme of female friendship is so strong and after every episode I walk away with a renewed appreciation for my own friendships and relationships. I love how much love there is on this show! Each new episode brings something new. Chelsea, keep those how we mets as long as you want, at least in my opinion. Thanks for the joy and laughter!

Entertaining and Inspiring
I adore this podcast. Learning the stories of these woman (and the occasional dude) is always entertaining. And I love how Chelsea ties together themes and threads across careers and over decades, it can be both inspiring and heartbreaking, but it’s never EVER boring. And the Bookdel test is 👩🍳💋!

Thoughtful, funny, and deeply kind
I listened to an episode of this on a whim, and immediately binged all the episodes, then subscribed to the Patreon so I could binge the bonus episodes. Chelsea is warm, funny, and kind. She brings in fantastic guests to talk about these books. I love the way they center women’s experiences, talk about what we collectively have and haven’t learned, process trauma, grieve, laugh, and embrace joy. Highly recommended!!

Never To Old
I may be 55( that may be a huge lie) but I realized I love Chelsea (and her guests) for so many reasons. Funny how many life lessons she has taught me through her irreverent (said with much admiration) yet sage observations. There has yet to be an episode that has not made me reevaluate things I believed to be true. Thanks, Chelsea, and team, for helping me to see things from a different POV. This podcast is a total blast all while causing you to realize you are never to old to be young at heart!

Came to sing Chelsea’s praises!
I never liked podcast and then I found Chelsea, I have now listened to every single episode and can’t wait for new ones! This podcast combines my favorite things, celebrity memoirs, funny people and juicy tales! I’ve decided if Chelsea lived in small town Arkansas with me that we would be best friends and probably ran out of town. I can’t recommend enough!

Food for my soul
The emotional agility, breadth, and intelligence Chelsea Devantez demonstrates as she recaps these celebrity memoirs has--no hyperbole--become a beacon for me since I started listening *ahem* binging. Daily, now, as I confront my every thought and feeling, I ask myself, What. Would. Chelsea. Do? Would she... celebrate the triumph? Discern the pattern? Condemn the injustice? Do the work? Find the joke? Find the joke while crying? Would she wear sequins AND lace?!? To all these thoughts, I answer, yes. Yes, simultaneously. The only thing she may not do is sleep. Do yourself a favor and spend some time listening. Actually do ALL of us a favor and listen.

Call Me The Cookie Monster
…because within hours of discovering this podcast, I joined Chelsea’s Patreon and became a Cookie JUST so I could DEVOUR every delicious episode in an epic binge! Like, I’m talking, I put this on auto play and I deep cleaned my house… twice!!! Seriously, stumbling upon Celebrity Book Club was the most joyful serendipity as I’d grown weary of the hosts of another podcast, on the same topic of celebrity memoirs. It took me awhile to figure out why I became obsessed with Chelsea, and it’s this: to make it in the entertainment biz, you have to be a student of human behavior… but to make it in comedy like Chelsea has, you have to be a MASTER. Plus, I’m so endeared to her as she shares incredibly powerful anecdotes from her own life, and it’s crystal clear that because of her own life history, she has developed a keen sense of empathy for the authors, as well as the people these authors write about… even if she doesn’t personally care for them. Her guests are incredible and being in the same business allows for them to be equally insightful, while still offering multiple points of view. Love to hear it. Chelsea says she finds healing in the books, and I find healing through her thoughtful words. I can’t wait for the day Chelsea publishes her own memoir. I’m already standing first in line to buy and read it. Chelsea, if you read this, you are such a light in this world. I adore you endlessly. Oh, and my husband and I freaking LOVEDDDDDDD Girls 5Eva; it saved us in the Pandemic, just had to put that in there! XOXO

Amazing, Superb, Incredible, Glorious
I love this podcast so much — it gives me both first-hand joy and second-hand joy. The former is obviously from Chelsea’s wit, humor, and unique perspective. The latter is due to the fact that her podcast turned me on to some other amazing podcasts that I can’t live without anymore - like “Enemies with Liza Treyger”

The Undercover Witch Podcast You Need!
If you are a person who is interested in feminine power and magick this is the show for you. I found this show in the exact moment I needed it and have been obsessed ever since. I have been listening out of order based on the celebrities I knew, but even the stories of the women I didn’t, have impacted and touched me. Chelsea recaps these books in a way I can stand by, funny, respectful, and intersectional. And as a former gifted kid who has been needing a reason to dive back into books, I found it! Love the show and the work you are doing.

Absolute favorite podcast each week. Each episode is an exercise in comedy, empathy, articulating complexity and brilliance… as a writer I’m inspired, as a woman I’m healed, as an actor I’m bathed in community, as a human my sense of my own history is expanded… can’t go wrong. Will laugh a ton. This woman and her friends should be running the world… thank the gods they’re creating the content the world now imbibes. Drink up, ye hearties, ho ho!

New favorite!!
In the last few months, I have become obsessed with listening to audio book versions of celeb memoirs where the celeb narrates them. I’ve been looking for a podcast that discusses the books, and I tried a few others. I couldn’t connect with the hosts or just didn’t like their discussions. But this one…? perfection! Such good takes. Interesting guests. Great book choices. I’m so excited to listen to more, and discover new books too!

I love this podcast and Chelsea is the best. I don’t know where else to express this but the guest on the Jeanette McCurdy‘s episode was horrific. She made light of abuse specifically child abuse and it was not OK. Please do not have this guest back on, she was very triggering.

Always my #1 recommendation
Whenever anyone asks for a podcast recommendation, this is my "go-to" recommendation. The topics covered are interesting to everyone. Even when the topics are heavy, there is always a balance of comedy and wit to lighten the load. I never thought Elvira's story would be of interest but I was sucked in. There is something for everyone in each story.

I discovered this podcast in 2022 but Chelsea is tied for #1 with Karen and Georgia. Karen and Georgia’s lasting partnership and Chelsea’s advocacy of female friendship made me realize this is something that has been scarce in my life and something I hope to change. I love, love this show! Chelsea’s unabashed enjoyment of female celebrity memoirs gets me excited, too, and the care she puts into the show is crystal clear. The interaction with her guests is like being in conversation with friends. It’s funny, insightful, and vulnerable all at once, and enjoyable whether or not I’ve read the book. It’s introduced me to some celebs and books I didn’t know and made me revisit and appreciate some I already did in new ways.

The podcast I didn’t know I needed right now
I have always had a particular interest in the psychology of celebrities and I love reading memoirs both great and awful, for different reasons. Chelsea gives you the entertaining highlights of memoirs both well done and deliciously terrible. The delightful back and forth with her well-chosen guests, the insights they share and connections they feel to the material—so well done. And sometimes it just feels like I’m listening to my friends gossiping about someone in a way that I absolutely love! Thanks for doing this, Chelsea. I really really love it. <3

Tea and Empathy
Celebrity memoir tea served with tender hilarity. It’s the podcast equivalent of the juiciest-ever issue of Vanity Fair filtered through a therapeutic lens by a comedy improv troupe. One small bit of constructive criticism: The host and guests often talk about internalized misogyny, body shaming, and ageism as if they’re relics of the past. As I binged the backlog, phrases like “it’s a generational thing” and “women USED to do (fill-in-the-blank),” kept popping up. Though I dearly wish we were past all that corrosive behavior, you only have to scroll through the comments on an article about the #metoo movement or the transcendently talented Lizzo to find that these toxic attitudes endure. It’s crazy-making and sad, but to deny that reality does an injustice to women of all ages who continue to experience this kind of pain on the reg.

Intelligent and Funny
This podcast allows the listener to get the essence of celebrity memoirs without reading all of the books. As one who loves to read, there is only so much time in the day. The best thing about this podcast is that the host and her guests are intelligent and hysterical. I love the way they call out bad behavior as well as the empathy they display for fellow human beings. The listener gets the feeling that Chlesea, the host, is truly being herself. The laughs and conversations are not forced or “put on” for the episode. Its like getting to listen in on a fun conversation or book club among friends. Some of my favorite episodes are of memoirs that I never would have read on my own. Keep up the good work! This is the only podcast I currently donate to support.

Exactly why I needed!
This podcast came to me during a lonely time of the pandemic. Going through a divorce, working from home… This podcast gives me both the office gab I miss so much, as well as REALLY EXCELLENT insights from Chelsea on what are red flags and green flags when people tell me about themselves. My favorite episodes are often the ones about people that can’t make themselves likable in a book they’re writing about themselves. Had I read these books on my own, I’d probably make excuses for their flaws. So, Chelsea, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. Your trauma is helping me make better choices when making friends and online dating!

Love but…
The Alexandra Billings episode is terrible. The guest reviewer just couldn’t help but constantly make it about herself. I’m a Bravo TV addict and proud Lambily member since Mariah’s debut album in the early 90s, and forever a pop culture junky. My podcast listening is usually in the Bravo scape and this podcast spoke to all my interests. I came by way of Ryan Bailey, he played a clip and I went immediately to check it out. I scrolled through and decided to start on the Molly Shannon episode and became instantly obsessed. It’s been 24 hours and I just finished Mariah, Tina, and Danny P’s episode. Devantez is fun and lovely. A really enjoyable way to live celebrity vicariously through the discussions of various famous lady memoirs. The host and guests have an impressive handle on the text and share their interpretations clearly so that I can enjoy this without actually reading the book.

Smart and funny
Comedy writer/filmmaker/smart woman/bestie in my brain Chelsea reads a celebrity memoir and discusses it with a guest. I am sure it will enhance your listening if you’ve read the book, but it’s entirely unnecessary. This podcast is like reading a gossip mag while talking to your brilliant and hilarious friends about it. But, fear not, there is plenty of meat and content to hold your attention as well. Seriously so funny and sneakily insightful and bookish to the max, Chelsea is who you should be listening to!

I have actually read some of these books and now excited to go back and reread. I look forward to this every week. Thank you for doing these. Very entertaining, enjoyable and has me viewing these celebrities in a different light. I have more compassion for them and even can relate a bit. Please keep them coming.

So much more than memoirs
I started listening because I love a good celebrity memoir - and a recap podcast means I get to hear about more books than I can read. I kept listening because this podcast contains so much truth. I have belly laughed with Chelsea and her guests, and I’ve also cried real tears. I’ve learned more about myself by listening to these authors’ stories and Chelsea’s and her guests’ stories. Chelsea’s vulnerability and heart is at the center of these episodes. Easily one of my favorite podcasts out there!

Great podcast…..BUT
This is a great podcast and I look forward to every episode, BUT she talks a lot about being a feminist while tearing down the authors whose ideals are anything but aligned with hers and the hypocrisy seems to be lost on her. I’m still going to give the podcast a 5-star review because I do authentically enjoy it.

Perfect for lovers of books and girl talk!
This is such a fun podcast, but it’s deep, too. Chelsea has great guests and they do a fantastic job talking about these celebrity memoirs. You don’t have to have read these books to love this podcast. Chelsea is so down to earth, and shares a lot of her own personal challenges in life. I think her bravery will speak to a lot of women :)

Ruined for other podcasts
I admittedly share this podcast recommendation with others with the caveat that “it’s about celebrity memoirs but it’s not about celebrity memoirs” quite sheepishly. Because I didn’t come to this podcast as a celebrity memoir fan. But since I have arrived (through channels of strong female leads, comedy, compelling storylines) I have thought of nothing else. You will laugh, you will cry, you will ponder the universe. But most importantly you will consider celebrities as humans in the context of trauma, society, and culture. Thank you Chelsea Devantez for this gift, your vulnerability and these stories perspectives. 💗

A bish sesh & therapy sesh combined
Chelsea and her comedian guests do succinct but deep dives into memoirs I have read and memoirs I have no plan on reading. I resisted listening to episodes on celebrities I dislike or don’t know of but I’ve found that the conversations are so great that I don’t need to care about the celebrity to love every episode of this podcast. I also love the community that Chelsea created, and I even love the few one star ratings on this app that are salty about a celebrity memoir podcast having anti-bigotry content.

This podcast will elevate your life.
I can’t say enough good things about this podcast, Chelsea, and her guests. Chelsea always asks her guests if the book has elevated their lives and this podcast has elevated my life. It’s so insightful and feels like a therapy session. I feel like a better person after each episode. I also have to mention how funny it is. Chelsea balances dark subject matter and humor with such ease. I truly look forward to each episode.

Thoughtful and meaningful!!
I’ve been listening since the start. This podcast is so rich and so rewarding. I don’t really read celebrity memoirs but I care about women and fame, so I really appreciate Chelsea’s style here. She uses the memoirs as a launching point to explore issues of aging, love, performance, and (of course) trauma. And she and her guests go deep. When you take the episodes together this podcast is ultimately a (I never use this word but…) text that has a lot to teach about our evolving culture. My favorite thing about the show is getting to hear Chelsea articulate and develop her own worldview, which is well earned… she has a grand theory and it’s imperfect and real and true and useful! (Cheers also to producer Daisy Rosario, whom I’ve been aware of as an NPR queen and who is SO smart and funny. Raves all around!).

One of My Top Five Favorite Podcasts!
If you’re looking for a wonderfully funny, entertaining, insightful, and often moving podcast, this is it! Celebrity memoirs are my favorite genre and Chelsea is an amazing commentator for these books. I’m also so impressed by her hosting skills. She creates a warm and inviting ambience and open dialogue with all of her guests. It often feels like you’re at dinner or drinks with them gabbing about the celebrity. I think her strong sense of self awareness helps her to be very fair to every subject. Anyway, I can’t rave about this podcast enough. Just hit the subscribe button!

I love reading memoirs and I follow Chelsea on IG & Twitter so when I found out she was doing this podcast I was elated! I feel like reading about other women and their struggles is just like therapy. It shows us that whatever we may be facing in life, we can be strong and face it head-on and make it through to the other side. Chelsea’s podcast, the books, and her IG stories have gotten me through the pandemic as well as some other challenges I’ve had. I love interacting with her via DM’s too! Chelsea Devantez is doing a service to those (like me) who don’t make the time to read, but love a good story and learning about the human experience. Love the IG story recaps and how Devantez brings us into her analyzing process. On the podcasts she is honest, critical when need be, but compassionate as well. Goes beyond the surface of celebrity
I’ve never been into celebrity culture and have never read a memoir, but I love this show. While it does dish on the gossip, it also goes so much deeper. I’m used to thinking about most of the women she talks about as characters, but this show talks about them as real people with real problems. I love hearing all of the stories and realizing how much more complex and interesting these women are than their media portrayals.

Smashed subscribe after I heard Chelsea on Unladylike - even tho I definitely did NOT need another podcast to listen to - and I haven’t looked back since. Hit and miss
This used to be in my top five podcasts. But recently, it has veered away too much from being a cool, snarky podcast about memoirs. I don’t want to hear an interview with an author! I’ll listen to Marc Maron or NPR for that. I love Margaret Cho, but you can’t bring any criticism or take downs when you are having the author on to tout their book. Get back to the snarky commentary!

it’s so wonderful to hear the stories of women in all their guts and glory. developing a deeper understanding of the inner lives and upbringings of women, being discussed by women, is such a gift. i’m also incredibly grateful to hear others who can relate to being disconnected from a biological parent at birth and dealing with the trauma that this ensues. it’s rare to find the catharsis that comes from hearing reflections from others who have went through the same. thank you chelsea <3

Great podcast sharing women’s stories
I’ve never listened to a podcast before, as I’ve never been able to not be distracted by my own thoughts. Chelsea’s is the first i have ever listed to from beginning to end and been completely enthralled by her storytelling. You really feel not only her talent for storytelling but her warmth and friendliness - I mean I feel like she could be my friend! I stumbled across her Instagram late one night while nursing my newborn - as I struggled to stay awake and really felt like her insta story recaps pulled me in. I devoured those and decided to dive into her podcasts and now I’m obsessed and listen to them each night - as I now nurse my 4 mo old! Thanks for sharing these stories Chelsea! Thank You
This is the first podcast I’ve ever listened to. I’m a new broadcasting student. New, not young. I’m a woman who’s had to do a lot just to be ok, and deciding to make a career change into media and production is a big part of my choice to be better than ok. I know this seems like a lot of information, but I promise I’m working around to a point! We had a whole section in class about podcasting, so, despite my aversion to the idea of listening to random people talk for an hour, I thought I’d do some homework. I don’t know why I stumbled upon this show, but hearing women who talk the way I do, discuss other women’s stories so intentionally, yet casually was something I didn’t know I needed. The subject itself of Rosie Perez’ book is so relatable that it almost felt invasive, but in a good way. A way that’s so familiar that it almost makes you family. Hearing that story with all the little detours of the host’s stories really restored my faith in my own ability to be more than ok. I had no idea that all this could come from a podcast

Since the pandemic, I became slightly obsessed with celebrity memoirs. I love that this show reviews the books enough to let you know if you’re interested in reading the book but without giving away all the juicy details! After listening to this podcast, I’ve purchased Jessica Simpson’s Open Book (my fave, so far, and I wasn’t even a fan of her) and Demi Moore’s Inside Out (also, very good!!). Tina Turner, Makenzie Phillips and Sinead O’Connor’s books are all on my “to read” list. This podcast is so good; I’ve listened to every episode, some twice! I’m going to be up all night…
Found y’all on Apple‘s page of shows they love and this sounded good-books are my friends, not a huge fan of memoirs, in all fairness many I have read did not have ghost writers. Read Todd Bridges memoir. Actually, don’t. It is 2 hours better spent watching early “Different Strokes”. Think I’m on my fifth episode during this binge as it is now 1:41 AM and believe I started around 7 PM? Many thanks to you and all of your lovely guests, truly loving this and needed the boost. Who knew Jessica Simpson shares a past of morning shame shakes? Alcoholism is the worst and needing a drink before the sun rises? Waking up to immediate thoughts of despair and anxiety only to feel your physical body remind you functionality depends on this drink. Love her sharing this with us. Truly adore her honesty, so brave to bare it, warts and all. Wish her continued health and happiness. I remember Liz Phair, never really a fan and now glad I wasn’t. Her editor did her no favors. Probably wasn’t a fan either. Continue to swing out sisters! I’ll be listening🐱💜🐶

Love It But Wish There Was More Content Review
Chelsea is such a good host- she really pulls you in from the start of the episode. But as a listener from the beginning I’m finding more of the episodes about her than the book. I wish there was a bit more time spent on review of the book and the author. Hearing her and her guests make connections to the authors stories is really interesting, but (I hate to say this) it gets a little repetitive if you’ve listened to all the episodes. Would love to hear a bit more about the authors life on each episode!

I found Chelsea late into the pandemic and I didn’t even know how much I needed this podcast. I consume so much serious and concerning news that I really look forward to winding down with this podcast some nights. I love that Chelsea gives us feminist takes and challenges her own and our judgments constantly. She is so entertaining, hilarious, and relatable that even really tough content stays light, yet somehow impactful. All podcasts are not created equal and this one always rises to the top. On the fence
I’ve listed to several book reviews and for the most part they are great and added a couple of books that I want to read for myself. I’m stuck at the Dolly Parton book though. I’ve stopped listening a couple of times because of the broad brush all southerners are painted with by you. I’m was born and raised in California but I’ve been to most of the southern states many times and know plenty of people from there. They aren’t all racist, religious extremists, that hate anyone different from themselves. I think in past episodes you have done a great job of defining when attitudes and vocabulary used in a book represents a different time with different socially acceptable behavior. However in this episode I would be led to believe that you think the south is a cesspool of ignorance, hatred and bigotry with no redeeming qualities in its people. It’s divisive and untrue language. While I have loved other episodes and applaud your very active support of women and the struggle to reach a level of celebrity and all they’ve had to overcome, it saddens me to see you do the very thing you seem to fighting against. I will probably try a different episode in the future but am taking a break for now.

Chelsea is a fantastic host with the best energy. I’ve only read a couple celebrity memoirs but Chelsea’s approach to this topic has really expanded what I thought celebrity memoirs were all about. She’s a careful, thoughtful reader and I really like her insights. The format is chill and Chelsea’s guests all bring something unique to the conversation. So listen already!

Love this!
I have never followed celebrity news or memoirs. I heard about this podcast on a different podcast and listened- and I was instantly hooked! With all my covid free time I’ve been binge listening to podcasts and audiobooks, so after I devoured all the episodes and heard the “cookies write in” episode, I listened to the Jessica Simpson audiobook, and then listened to that book club episode again. It made me appreciate the podcast even more. Love everything about this show- especially the female empowerment aspects! I’m always intrigued by human behavior and a peek behind the curtain. This podcast is massively entertaining and insightful! Thank you!

Wow
I’m rating the podcast because that’s what this section is for and I like to do things right. Charming, intelligent host and celebrity memoirs. 5 stars. But there is so much more here for those that need it. I just listened to the episode (my third) where the host shares her story and I just want to thank her. Wow. How can our stories be so different yet so similar? Trauma is trauma, I guess. I’m moving forward stronger and with more compassion for myself now. I look forward to listening to all the episodes and to following the host on Instagram.

The podcast I didn’t know I needed
I discovered this podcast about 2 weeks ago and have since listened to every available episode. I love it on so many levels. The host and all her guests are such funny, smart, insightful women. They contrast their experiences of working in the entertainment industry now with the memoirs of people who have been successful in the past. The podcast also does an incredible job of covering important, difficult, often traumatic topics in an honest and inspiring way. I feel like I am learning about the world through this podcast in a really important way. Highly recommend!

Women’s Stories are the Stuff of Life
Women’s stories are the stuff of life, and far too often suppressed and overlooked. Chelsea elevates those voices and as an admitted former snob about memoirs as being maybe a bit cheesy, this podcast underlines each woman’s story and life in a frank way, opening my eyes to the validity and importance of letting others tell their stories, especially women, and even the women I’ve honestly not thought much about beforehand. Listen, people, and I dare you to keep your heart from being touched.

I discovered this about a month ago and have almost caught completely up with the prior episodes. Celebrity memoir and biography has always been my favorite genre and Chelsea perfectly captures what is so special about these books. She does it through a lens of someone working in Hollywood with a lot of her own story to tell. Each episode had heart and humor. I have recommended this to so many friends who love it as well. Thank you Chelsea!

Cecily Tyson
Just listened....Great Podcast! FYI: during Cecily’s young pregnancy, having a Child out of wedlock was just like wearing the “Scarlet Letter.” That’s how the term “illegitimate child” is a part of our language or “Bastard”. You are shunned and discussed in negative fashion always. I have lived a long and fascinating life and that period of time made women marry men whom they truly have no connection with. Your Podcast is enlightening and reviewing history can be a bit difficult if you are not aware of the tone and unwritten rules of society. She is a Shero. She pushed through the Drama and Horrific abuse to follow her Dreams, to Mentor, and to Represent for others how to live with Grace and Dignity.

I looooooove this podcast! Its like watching a really intense form of E News with hosts that are relatable and so funny. I love hearing about these amazing star’s pasts and the commentary makes it just that much better. My only complaint is that there is a good deal of swearing and vulgarity. This just gets to me sometimes and forces me to skip an episode or fast forward through some sections. I do think that the podcast would be just as amazing if not better without that part. New favorite podcast
I initially subscribed to this podcast because the first episode covered Jessica Simpson’s book, which I’d just finished and loved, so I wanted to hear people talk about it. I was really impressed with the tone that Chelsea and her guest established in the show—they were lighthearted and fun but also respectful and tactful when the subject matter called for it. I came for Jessica Simpson, got hooked by Demi Moore, and from there, every week, I cannot wait for the new episode. Even celebs whom I didn’t think I cared about: Chelsea manages to pull me in and make me care. I love the sincerity and authenticity of her and her guests! Thanks for making my commute something to look forward to!

THE Celebrity Book Club Podcast
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, at least that’s the generous interpretation I have for the other CBC podcast that ripped off Chelsea’s idea and title. Chelsea’s podcast is absolutely wonderful. She handles the books with the thoughtfulness they deserve, but she and her guests are so hilarious that even the episodes with heavy subject matter are still fun to listen to. She also provides a recap of the books on her IG, which makes an excellent companion to the episodes. I highly recommend this podcast!

Well researched, well produced, good stories
My wife recommended this podcast to me and I was reluctant to listen because I don’t have much interest in these celebrities. However, the stories are really interesting and the podcast has given me more insight into some of the societal injustices women have to endure. I also like that the host and guests prepare for each show rather than just reading stories in real time and reacting to them.

LOL Funny
Recently, I discovered Celebrity Book Club. I binge-listened the entire show until I was caught up. It is delightful, clever, and LOL-funny. (Except for Celine's episode; it's just creepy.) What appears like a niche podcast is actually a reflection of the broader human experience. The best part is each episode stands on its own so you can skip around. I started with Delta Burke. Loved it! Thanks Chelsea. Congrats on a well done and hilarious podcast.

After 5 years of listening to podcast this is ABSOLUTE BEST!!!!!
I LOVE memoirs, and others do too. However before this podcast I felt kind of alone in reactions to hearing the personal struggles of female artists. I would annoy my friends and family with all their life stories. As much as I loved talking about it with them, nobody had the same powerful reaction as me. I would feel “if only we shared the same passion so I could join in on the conversations”. Well now that I’ve discovered this podcast I felt like someone finally understood!!!! Chelsea speaks with such passion and I understand every word as if she says exactly what I was thinking!!!! It’s powerful for me to realize I shouldn’t hide from what I adore. This podcast is emotional, complete surprising, happy, sad, HILARIOUS (especially what they said about Celines husband), and just absolutely out of this world inspiring. I cannot wait for more episodes!!!! Thank you Chelsea for really making feel like I’m not alone in this extreme passion for women’s memoirs!!!! This podcast is an evening with the girlfriends I wish I had. For me it is a gateway to womanhood and sisterhood that I’ve never experienced before. I joke and say that this is my Judy Blume. To hear these raw stories of incredibly powerful, vulnerable women talked about by women who are equally powerful and vulnerable has truly helped me make sense of what it means to be a woman as I grow into it myself. With an air of lightness, and a compassionate, humorous tone, this podcast makes even the darkest moments seem much brighter. 🤍

I’ve always loved celeb memoirs (sort of guilty pleasure but not sorry!) so this pod was made for me. But Chelsea goes SO FAR ABOVE the average podcast. I think she shares insightful, thoughtful and relevant pop culture insight. I appreciate her humor and informative feminist context. She also shares fantastic excerpts on her IG so you can actually red along with her. I love this book club. I might even get back on FB just to join the group

I’ll Never Read These Books So I’m Glad Chelsea Will!
Loving this podcast. I love hearing Chelsea and her friends/guests tell us about these books and interweaving their own personal stories. The Tina Turner episode was really beautiful, and hearing about Mariah was also excellent. I am loving this podcast so much.

This is part of my weekly podcast rotation!
If there is appointment television, then this is appointment pod listening with Chelsea and her rotating roster of guests. Coincidentally, I read a lot of these celebrity memoirs this year and discovering this podcast filled the void for my need to hear thoughtful, funny discussion about how much the turmoil, insecurities and pain of famous, iconic women can resonate with anyone. I’m excited to see this community develop lead by Chelsea’s warmth, humor and curiosity.

Funny, warm, healing
Love this podcast, celebrity memoirs have always been a guilty pleasure of mine and now I can examine them through a thoughtful, critical lense! Chelsea seems like a genuinely sweet soul, you can tell she puts so much thought and compassion into this podcast. Happy to hear some of these books have brought healing to her life and appreciate the vulnerability of her and her guests (who all seem like absolute gems!). There’s a healthy amount of humor too, because the lives of some of these women are truly insane and sometimes we have no choice but to laugh.

Doing the lord’s work!!!
Even when she covers celebrities I don’t know that much about, the eps are so funny! You end up learning things you didn’t know before, and makes the work day go by faster.

I love this one
I love this podcast because it’s not just a recap of tabloid gossip from yesteryear, but Chelsea and her guests talk about these celebrity women with such compassion, and they talk about the points of connection they have with these celebrities and their journeys and the life lessons that they are able to glean from these celebrities’ traumas, victories, and other life experiences. Also, I love that Chelsea is interviewing her friends. Not only because the “how I met today’s guest” stories that kick off every episode are so cute and make me want to be friends with Chelsea and all of her friends, who all seem like really good people, but you really do feel like you’re listening to a conversation between two good friends. There’s warmth and camaraderie to this podcast, which feels so nice right now. Thanks, Chelsea! I’m so excited about your upcoming lineup of memoirs and guests!

Empowering and fun
This is the first podcast I’ve ever left a review for because I want it to keep going. Chelsea’s thesis of “female celeb memoir as self help book” is GENIUS. You don’t have to have read the books to enjoy the recap, analysis, insights, and laughs. Highly recommend!

Fun, Enlightening & Empowering
If you’re a 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and early Millennial Female... this Podcast is for you. I love the fun and gossipy light hearted dialogue (laced with insightful truth bombs) that Chelsea has with a guest-host to discuss a celebrity memoir. It’s really enlightening as a Gen-X (borderline Millennial) female. Through their down to earth discussion, openness and empowering insight, we all get a glimpse into our own psyche and biases through the lens of strong and flawed women who have trail-blazed the way for us to be stronger as a collective while shining light on the patriarchal obstacles. More episodes please!!!!

SO GOOD!!
I, usually one who rolls eyes at book review podcasts due to the host's self-indulgence and lack of empathy ... this podcast, I absolutely LOVE! Chelsea & guests are abosultely amazing - entertaining, authentic, funny, and reflective .. they stick to the book. This podcast keeps true to the integrity of these memoires, maintaining the author's voice while sharing their thoughtful insight / experiences to the audience. My new favorite - I cannot wait for the episodes to come!

I’m hooked!!
I heard a commercial for this podcast while listening to another one. I enjoy entertainment podcasts so I knew I wanted to check it out. I’m halfway through the Jessica Simpson podcast and I’m hooked! I got stuck in a big traffic jam this morning (3-car accident blocking lanes) and this podcast made the extra half hour that was added to my commute so much more entertaining!

Such a great new podcast
This podcast is so delightful. I found myself smiling and laughing throughout and learned a lot about how popular culture was so wrong and mean towards Jessica Simpson. Like, not even a follower of hers, but someone needs to go bully Your Body is a Wonderland for real and then maybe go see about all the media people who contributed to maligning her. I’ve never had an interest in celebrity memoirs, but I truly enjoyed this first episode. Looking forward to more.

Chelsea Devantez is hilarious!! I followed her Instagram stories for so long where she recapped celebrity memoirs, but oh wow the podcast is the extended version we all needed! It’s great to hear Chelsea and her guest interpret the books, get to the heart (and juicy parts) of the story and to just LAUGH! Chelsea is a genius and this podcast is a blast to put on and feel like you’re with your friends.
