When a relic from his past is rediscovered, folklore professor Jeremy Bradshaw puts his life on hold to solve the mystery. Along the way, he’s helped by people who challenge everything he believes in, and ultimately tries to answer the question: can the past be rewritten? A supernatural thriller for your ears, starring Misha Collins, Melissa Ponzio, and Alan Tudyk. Created by Aaron Mahnke and written by Lauren Shippen.

Good… could be great
Interesting underlying plot but all the bickering between the main characters really distracted from the story arch. More plot and less arguing for season II please! 😊

Season 2 delayed now Jan 2023 release date
August of 2022 isn’t coming fast enough for season 2. I throughly enjoyed this podcast and commend the actors and script writers for a job well done! Update: Now the official twitter page said season 2 will not be released until January 2023 Bridgewater @BridgewaterPod · Sep 14 Lots of folks asking for an update, so here you go: S2 casting and recording was extra complex this year thanks to Hollywood being back at full busyness. But we’re in post-production now, aiming for an early January release. It’s going to be worth the wait, though, trust me!

Very Well Done
The audio mixing, the voice acting, the chilling story, all of it was very well done! A good use of the 3D audio and I have to make sure that I have time to myself while listening to this at work so I don’t miss a thing. Well done!

Surprised at how much I loved this!
This series really drew me in! I went in gingerly because I love lore, cabinet and most of Aaron’s stuff , I just wasn’t sure about a scripted type of show. So Glad I took the jump. Brilliant and scary and weird and surprisingly human. I am anxiously awaiting season 2- I heard August of 22 but it’s August, when can we get it?? Aaron I will send you bourbon if you release or soon.

Checking Daily for Season 2
My wife hates podcasts. No matter how hard I try to get her to listen to all my favorites, she refuses. She LOVES Bridgewater. I finished season 1 in less than 24 hours and almost forced her to listen to episode 1. A day or 2 later, she had listened to all 10 episodes. I’ve been waiting for August to come since I finished the first season and am re-listening to the first season to refresh myself on the story. If you haven’t started Bridgewater yet, you’re in for an amazing story, cast, and experience. BRING ON SEASON 2!!!

I love everything about this podcast - the mystery, the suspense, the writing, the acting, the sound effects. Love it all! I started listening to Lore when it first popped up in 2015… (I think). Then I took a break from podcasts. I found myself back to listening to some of my old shows a couple weeks ago… and heard that Lore had “expanded.” Lol. I wasn’t sure what I was getting into with Bridgewater but I was quickly hooked. I started listening yesterday and finished the this afternoon. I was so disappointed to find it was only one season. I hope to hear more soon!

Great except…
I really like this story, the production, the actors etc. Really everything except for one thing that is really obnoxious: 1/2 of the script is Bradshaw saying “we can’t indulge these fantasies, there’s a rationale explanation for this.” I get he’s the skeptic, but it’s so consistent—every other line out of his mouth, it gets really tiresome to hear it so much. I’d give the show a 4 or 5 if it weren’t for this. That said, it’s not enough to stop me from listening to the show, and like I said, everything but that is stellar and compelling.

Better than I expected
Living in Massachusetts I figured I would listen to this simply because it’s local. The locale is somewhere I’ve visited, that I’ve read about. It’s much better than a local drama.⭐️The acting is top notch.⭐️ I generally cannot enjoy radio drama. The plot so far is good. My father passed away this week. I am grateful for this great distraction during my commute to work.

My favorite podcast
Before Bridgewater I had never listened to a fiction podcast. True crime and unsolved mysteries type podcasts were my favorite. But now I’m hooked on the fiction genre. If you like this podcast you should also check out “Strawberry Spring” it’s almost as good as Bridgewater. My only complaint about Bridgewater is that I can not stand the way the actor that plays “Ethan” sounds like an adult man that is trying to fake a child voice. The way he says “Nana” actually makes me cringe. Other then that small irritant rest of the cast does a wonderful job.

LOVED IT …Any Second Season???
Is there not going to be any notice, any message at all - to the fans who loved this - about a second season and when??? I mean it’s surprising that for all that went into this scripted series, and with it being backed by Grim and Mild, that there’s no update/notice.

Aww I loved it and so cool to hear Mischa as a voice actor! And Vipin is such a great character. My favorite. I thought it ended, though. People seem upset about a season two but I thought It was wrapped up pretty well. Of course I’d love to listen to another season and go deeper into the story but it’s not like season 1 ended abruptly or anything. Great episode as an ending or season finale. I really love creative work like this, you can tell that a lot of thought and care went into it. I’m much more interested in stories from a literary standpoint (even if they are fun or spooky) than just highly polished entertainment and this hit the spot.

All-around great audio drama. A captivating story pulls you in, the mystique of the forest is simply golden along with the voice actors and cliffhanger. The main character’s rationality was a pain but still 10/10.

Entertaining
I enjoyed the voice actors - they all portrayed their characters with a decent range and inflection in their voice. It was well produced with quality music and sound effects. The story itself was very entertaining as well. The only reason I didn’t give it five stars was due to the excessive arguing between the characters Ann and Jeremy. It felt like they had almost the same argument every episode and it felt a little redundant. Otherwise, I really enjoyed the series!

Copy Paste
Slow, tedious, and copied from a bunch of other “strange woods” shows. Getting tired of the format of leaving all the plot of S1 for the end of the final episode. I don’t much like argumentative dialog in audio dramas … I don’t like that kind of sound so close to my eardrums … and in this show they have the same argument many many times. Good acting, though.

This is second podcast I ever listen too. The only reason I listen is because I am Huge fans of Misha Collins and Nathan Fillion. So I decided to give it a listen to it. I Freakin enjoyed it. The storyline was pretty great. I was hooked first episode in. I will admit the main character can be a little annoying and frustrating at times. There are a few unanswered questions I do have. That being said, I could not stop listening. I was invested in these characters. It’s a great cast. I will admit Vipan was my favorite character. I am so looking forward to its return.

Main character is beyond annoying
I tried. I really did. Started interesting. But dang, the main character is next to impossible to listen to. His disagreements and frustration was constant. Never ending lack of belief. I get what they want the character to be like. But it just got so annoying I stopped listening after the 3rd episode. Really disappointed in this show. If you like listening to a grown adult man complain and not believe anything but himself, this show is for you. Ha.

Didn’t get it
I understand the story line - father goes missing, badge turns up, son wants answers. But I don’t really get the point. It seems to be coming to this big conclusion and then nothing. I have no idea what the point of this entire show was. If there’s more to come, they could let us know that.

It’s okay, not one of the best ones
The protagonist who is an annoying skeptic. I haven’t read or heard stories or even in real life met someone as skeptical, narrow minded and condescending character. Why would you create such a character that is unnecessarily annoying, smug and thinks he has answers for everything. And those answers are often dismissive of people’s subjective experiences. At one point when I was halfway through the 3rd episode, I thought of giving up this series, but since I was on a long drive, didn’t matter, I had the time to kill. Otherwise I wouldn’t give the time of the day on such irritating and weirdly annoying podcast. All the characters are always on defense trying to talk on top of each other with such anger, arrogance and closed mindedness. The demeanor of the protagonist is bordering condescension more often than you can imagine. Stay away, if you don’t want more chaos in your life. Try Supernatural by Ashley flowers or The Black Tapes by Pacific Northwest Radio.

This reminds me the old time radio shows before TV when they used a lot of sound effects and I love that about this show…..very interesting. I do get tired of Jeremy’s opposition but he comes around…….actors do a great job…..well done overall!

Could have been great
Excellent storyline but I’m 8 episodes in and the main character still does nothing but rationalize and deny the supernatural. That’s pretty much all he does for eight episodes so far. It’s gotten very redundant and annoying.

Spooky-ooky and infuriating
I do not know how I’ve become so invested in a story where I don’t really like any of the characters. Truly though, there’s a lot of realism to be had in being frustrated with the stubbornness of these characters, only to turn around and have your heart broken by them the next minute. I can’t wait to see where this goes.

Grew up in Easton Ma, that contains a section of the Hockomock Swamp and the triangle. Sadly this podcast mispronounces Assonet, so it’s a glaring mistake that distracts from the story.

Engaging story, characters a little one-note
I’m thoroughly enjoying the story of Bridgewater. But Jeremy is a bit one-note in the constant arguing. He could definitely use a few more layers, character-wise. It just got obnoxious halfway through. But it’s still good enough to keep listening.

Could be better
Too many unnecessary sound effects to try and sound more “realistic “ I don’t need to hear every page that get flipped through in a book or every sip of a drink…. Things like that kinda bug, but I’m probably a small minority in that sense. The story was good at times but writing/voice acting could use some more work.

** Hey Aaron and Bridgewater team, I hope you’re not done with the story over the first ten episodes!! Fantastic show all around! Very well done! It just so happens my workplace is in a wetland which is part of, or borders Hockomock swamp, just off RT. 106. That makes it personally even more intriguing. Keep up the good work. Intriguing story
I was interested in listening to this because I love Lore and Cabinet of Curiosities. But I was wary when I saw the explicit icon. So many podcasts have explicit language it’s hard to find one without. It’s sad you felt you couldn’t tell this story that a broader audience could enjoy. Luring listeners in by waiting until the last couple episodes to crank up the swearing. The story is great. You don’t need the language to make it “better”.

Meh
It’s okay. For having a cast of actors, the voice acting is terrible. You can hear that they all recorded at different times with different equipment and isn’t synced up well. Misha Collinsand Karan Soni are the weakest part of the whole podcast. You can tell they are used to reacting to someone, not just hearing words read to them.

A lot of filler
Great story, great ideas, great acting! All of that cut down by so much filler. Every episode is about 20% story.. the rest is 2 people having the same exact argument the entire time. I get it, these 2 don’t see eye to eye, but that’s not what the story is about. You got yourself a decent thing here, stop wasting everyone’s time, and actually write something!

I wanted to love it more
Based on all things Aaron Mahnke, I wanted to love this. I enjoy many a fiction or performed podcast and the fact that Misha Collins was in this was icing on the cake. I enjoyed the story and most of the audio using headphones was awesome; however some of the acting was disappointing. Perhaps because this was all dialogue and no physical performance the portrayal was over reaching at times. I will continue to listen; however, in the hopes the acting improves along with the interesting story. If I could give this 3.5 stars I would. Good story, nice first try by Grim and Mild, all-star cast.

A must listen from a podcast junkie perspective
I am an avid podcast listener. I also listen to a wide variety of podcasts from real play RPG, to comedy, to informational. I have been a lore listener for many years as well as cabinets of curiosity from day 1 so I had high expectations of the production value and it did not disappoint. Bridgewater is by far one of the most captivating audio dramas I have ever listened to. The 3D audio is very immersive and the voice actors are beyond talented. After a few episodes I made my husband listen and he also was very impressed. The story is fresh, and although you can make some guesses to what will happen, you will still be surprised at many corners. If you have not yet dug into Bridgewater then you need to start now. The haunting musical accompaniments of Chad Lawson are also one of my favorites parts of Grim & Mild pods. I am anxiously awaiting the new season.

Bad characterization
I’m out after 2 episodes. Great voice acting and a very good concept but the way the main character is written makes it hard to follow along with him. He feels less like a real person and more like a characterization of an academic. I really wanted to like this show because to had a lot going for it but that character just made me cringe every time he opened his mouth. Didn’t feel in keeping with the great quality of the show. Underwhelming
The voice acting is amazing and the production is great, but the story itself could be told so much better. The over arching story is cool and rooted in folklore history but it’s the same thing every episode. Jeremy just wines, Vipin is endearing and Anne is the crackpot who no one respects, the character development is a C- at best. There are 4 episodes back to back that have virtually the same plot line, but different characters at the center. Now the entire story has been put on hold til 2022. I’m sorry, I really wanted to enjoy this but I will be unsubscribing.

A soap opera
I keep listening, hoping the story will improve, but it’s ultimately a soap opera with cartoonish, shallow, undeveloped characters. Jeremy is so annoying, I can barely listen. The entire story is a character saying something and Jeremy contradicting it, over and over and over again. What’s a conversation? None of the writers apparently know! The story has barely moved forward, the characters have barely shifted their personal beliefs, while our “hero” hasn’t grown at ALL, and still, the interpersonal conflicts get more and more dramatic. We FINALLY had more conclusive growth in the story at the end of episode 10, and now we have to wait until 2022 for the continuation? There are far better story-telling podcasts out there. There was so much potential here and I’m disappointed!

Beginning is good but…
The beginning of this podcast was really engaging but the two main characters quickly become insanely unlikeable. Also, the main dude has a mad inappropriate relationship with his TA. Interesting story, but obnoxious protagonist

Love it so far!
The only criticism I have is the concept of the dad disappearing 40 years ago. His mum’s voice didn’t sound like a 60+ year old woman, and they met up with someone at the police station who still worked there since the disappearance… but police careers top out at 25 years. And the voice actor certainly didn’t sound 60+ years old. It was odd.

Don’t Bother
The voice acting is fantastic. The star-studded cast put on a believable performance. The sound quality and overall production are really good, I definitely found myself spooked at moments. The premise is solid, I was very interested in learning more, especially since they weaved individual elements of Lore into the core of the show. However, the script, characterization, and pacing are terrible. My wife and I stuck it out for 9 episodes PRAYING it would get better. The 9th episode will be our last—we can’t take the constant arguing, the slow “reveals” that are so obvious it’s astonishing such an intelligent character could be so perpetually (and stubbornly) surprised and skeptical. The personal drama doesn’t match the story, and the dialogue drags out to an unbelievable amount. This gets two stars: one for instilling me with the hope it would get better and somehow keeping me hooked for 9 episodes and one for the truly solid cast and production. I would not recommended anyone listen to this unless you’re desperate for any shred of content.

Good but Lauren Shippen anxious drama ruins it
This was so good, everything… the story, the acting, I was really into it! Then some emotion stuff comes up. Then our main characters start having therapy sessions and like spinning out of control into those unbearable anxiety riddled monologues and discussions that made me stop listening to The Bright Sessions after a while. The writing and directing is all Lauren Shippen. Listen to induce anxiety.

Amazing premise but…
As others have said, the plot quickly became bogged down with the two characters arguing back and forth. Any nuance in their characterization went down the drain in favor of a mediocre Mulder and Scully dynamic, except in a medium that doesn’t really work, and without the wit and quirk to keep it interesting. Still holding out that the plot picks up but the pacing is seriously bad and the characters need to become interesting or I’m out.

Oh my! This is seriously one of the best things I’ve ever listened to. I’ve never listened to a fictional podcast before, but I knew going in that I had to wait and get a new episode each week. Enough with the arguing!
Episode 8 might have been my breaking point. Listen with headphones they say? Why? So I can listen to two actors yell at each other for 30 minutes?? Enough. I get it, he’s a skeptic, she’s a believer. Move the plot forward and stop the arguing or I’m out.

Could be great. It’s so close.
Like others have said, the dialogue is primarily two characters arguing. Their debates over rationality v. believing in otherworldly experiences gets old quickly. It really slows down the pacing and the narrative. The main character is also extremely one dimensional - a stereotypical ivory tower academic. But I don’t know any anthropologist/sociologists or folklorists who would be that committed to rational “truth”. So yes, it’s a bit annoying and by episode four the dialogue gets old. But I enjoy it. I want to know how things end. It will just be a long slog to get there.

STOP ARGUING!
It’s a good story, well produced, good plot, well acted, there’s way too much arguing, so much so now I finally gave up and stopped listening. It’s annoying and ruined by the incessant argumentative dialog. How did they think this was a good idea? Could have been the best pod of the year.

Story good but some cons
I do enjoy the story and look forward to a Jew episode every week, but that’s one of the drawbacks. Do I really need to wait an entire week for a 15min episode? I’m sure plenty of thought goes into it but it’s disappointing to have such a short bit of story revealed after waiting a week. Also the social virtue signaling in the story is overdone, pointless and distracting.

Started out good.
I really wanted to like this program. It was intriguing in the beginning but the antagonism between the two main characters made it almost impossible to enjoy after awhile. It devolved into snarky arguments about how idiotic the other was. Instead of being entertained, I felt annoyed and anxious.

Yawn
It started off good, I was really enjoying it. However the last 2, maybe 3 episodes have been one long argument about the same thing. I’m only going to finish it to find out what happens but It’s gonna be a struggle.

I would have given it four stars but the main character is a total idiot. I am only three episodes in and I have wanted to slap him more times than I can count. A professor yet a total idiot.

Story drastically lost momentum
The idea behind the story is great. The writing however is not so good. Creating a main character who is endlessly and tirelessly skeptical about everything is exhausting and does nothing to progress the story. It’s like a broken record. The arguments between the two protagonists are the meat of the show and it’s too repetitive and honestly frustrating for the listener. The recording quality, however is great. I just wish the story was more engaging and less pointless arguments.

Less arguing, more story
About 80% of each episode is the main characters arguing over whether or not they believe in things (keeping it vague to not give away storyline). They spend so much time arguing, that the story doesn’t progress until the last 3 minutes of each episode. It’s frustrating. I wanted to like this podcast but I find myself rolling my eyes much of the time while I listen.

50/50
I really want to enjoy the story cause it is a good mystery and I would like to know what happens to the dad but almost every episode is Jeremy’s skepticism, it just drags on and on. Or he argues with everyone about everything. It’s very tiresome to hear. I’ll try to continue listening but this episode was kinda the last straw for me.

Fun, but getting repetitive
I just binged them last 8 episodes and I love the podcast so far. However, like others, I feel like the main character - Bradshaw - needs to get out of the doubting/skeptical mentality. Episode 8 was a little tiresome.

Interesting
I’m only an episode in and I can’t wait for more. The storyline is intriguing. I love a lot of the actors working on this project but they do well. Admittedly some of it pretty cheesy with some awkward lines and I’m not over a police badge sounding like a high schooler’s campaign button. But overall enjoyable.

Little story progress
I keep listening for the story to move past Anne and Bradshaw’s arguments. Every single episode has been an angry argument and I’m not enjoying it as much as I hoped. On top of that, the little action in the story just creates more screaming explicit arguments (which don’t add to the story since the arguments are the same in every episode). I’ll finish the podcast but I probably won’t recommend to others. I expected more from Aaron Manke since I love the Lore series and Unobscured.

Very good, but eps are short and don’t add much recently
This theatrical podcast is produced very well. The voice acting is spot on and the story is engaging. However, the past couple of episodes have been short and not added much to the story. There is a fine line in episodically airing something where you need to give listeners just enough to keep them coming back and if there isn’t enough substance to the episode, people notice.

Bad Voice Acting, Nothing is Happening
The actor who voices Vipin is absolutely terrible. Aside from that, 8 episodes in and NOTHING has happened. The “doubting Thomas” act by the main character got old in episode 2, and the plot is not moving forward. This is essentially the same episode week after week. This could have been good.

I really wanted to like this. I’m an SPN fan and love The Bright Sessions. But by episode 7 I’m ready to give up. The main character just keeps writing everything off and doesn’t believe. There is so much to love about this series, but the timing is starting to get tiresome. Bradshaw’s skepticism is getting really boring and tiresome, and I feel like every episode is the exact same. The actors, sound, and subject matter is great. But the plot feels stagnant. I like it enough to see it through, and I hope there is some kind of payoff soon.

I want to give this five stars but....
The acting is great. The story is interesting. But it leans heavily into the “Skeptic that won't believe anything no matter what” as a trope and it's a tired trope. Unfortunately as much as I like the rest of the show, this is starting to make the story drag. I would love to see a paranormal story with a well rounded skeptic for once. It's very good except for this.

Got all excited because I’m a huge fan of Misha Collins. The plot and storyline are intriguing enough but after a couple episodes I found myself really disappointed because it just seems to me that there is way too much unnecessary dialogue that doesn’t really add to the story (especially between vipin and prof. Top shelf storytelling
I rarely leave reviews, but when a something is brilliant (like this podcast) I feel obligated to tell others. The production is perfect, the story is well written, original and has numerous themes intricately woven in. I laughed, got angry, teared up, and made connections to the characters and I haven’t even heard the entire thing yet, but I know that it’s going to be just as good. It is one of those podcasts that immediately hooks you and you want to listen to the entire thing at once.

Soo glad I did… had me hooked from the start and can’t wait till Friday comes around until I can get the next episode. This podcast is not a narration (like Lore) so, if that’s what you are looking for, this isn’t it. Spooky and exciting! Scooby Doo for grown-ups!
If you're a fan of urban legends, modern folklore or just spooky stuff that makes you go 'eee!', then Bridgewater is made for you. Misha Collins stars as Professor Jeremy Bradshaw who teaches folklore and tries exceptionally hard not to believe in the stuff, even though his life has been personally and profoundly impacted by the unexplained. There are some suprising and delightful casting choices here and everyone is a delight to listen to. Lauren Shippen's writing is also top-notch. Some of the minor character performances are a little teensy bit flat from time to time, but the core cast are solid and every time I get to the end of the episode, I let out a wail of 'noooo! not yet!' because I'm just so engrossed in the whole story. Can't wait for the last 4 episodes of this season and everything else that comes after.
