This podcast is the safe shake that we all need. It is so edifying yet relatable. The content is always relevant and while I feel read, I also feel empowered to change. Thank you for reminding us that we deserve the best and how to cultivate that self. Definitely recommends

WOW!!! Literally God Sent.
I started my healing journey end of last year after going through it all and finallyyy wanting to heal and let go, my therapist recommended podcast instead of certain music while driving or if I didn’t want to read. Each episode there is a Lesson even if you have not went through it its still something to be aware or something to learn from. At the most recent episode I am listening to “Dealing with Betrayal …” I just had to pause and right a review and say THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! I listen so some episodes over and over so that it resonates or just so that I can affirm what resonates.. You are the best Shena -Forever Listener

Amazing!
I absolutely love this podcast. I’m at a different season in my journey and this podcast has really opened up a lot of things I would’ve never been able to work through and process on my own being that I didn’t know where to start. I listen while I’m getting ready for work, after meditation, or even on a drive in the car.

Here’s the beef!
So many podcasts and self help books just scratch the surface. Not this one! The host is very intentional about getting to the root and going DEEP. Thank you, Shena!!! I find myself listening to certain episodes over and over again, just to hear someone finally say what I’ve been feeling all my life. Definitely recommend this podcast. Particularly for Black women who grew up in the church and were taught to repress their feelings in so many ways. The love avoidant and love deprivation discussions have been LIFE CHANGING and EYE OPENING. So grateful for this resource.

Shena is my therapist
I don’t care what anyone says, Shena is my one & only therapist at the moment. No, we have never meet lol. But I feel so close to her & understood. She Is everything. I have been listening to her for almost a year and I’m so glad I came across her. She is the only podcast I keep up with because of how much she helps me and has helped me in the past. I can’t wait to follow her into whatever she does next. Im excited for her. She deserves everything she has built. Im so proud of her. Thank you Shena.

Phenomenal
I’m a black woman who’s been on her healing journey for more that two years now. I’m always adding invaluable tools to my war chest :) listening to Shena feels like talking to a loving friend who only has your best interest in mind. She’s definitely an expert in this work. I’ve been listening for awhile and have incorporated some tools into my daily walk. I’ll be taking the next step to join the healing track.

I have to note this is the first time I’ve ever reviewed a podcast, but I feel obligated after everything I’ve received from this podcast and its host. I’ve yet to hear anyone else speak about self-love and relationships and healing in such a way as is done here. Thank you for creating this.

Tuesday, October 4th’s Episode is a Gold!
I am woman in her early 30’s who has been in several serious relationships. Now that I realize that this is because of love addiction it is making me change all my ways. And I am so very grateful because with Sheena’s help now I don’t have to be confused about why things didn’t work out for me. Applying the experience from this episode is going to help me spot my negative patterns when becoming attracted to someone. It is also going to help me stop getting into and out of relationships that are not right for me. Thank you Sheena for Black Girls Heal.

The truth
This program offers something others don’t.The way she uses the language to describe love addiction and love bombing is so clear and unmatched; I co-sign; this woman knows her stuff! She’s a therapist’s therapist. And that’s saying a lot.

This podcast is EVERYTHING to me!!!
Thank you for the work you are doing!! It is highly necessary for our people. This podcast has given me understanding and language for symptoms I’ve been experiencing since I was young! Even though I have done years of therapy, there seems to always be a feeling that I needed to go deeper but didn’t know how to do that or have the language to communicate it. For the first time, I feel that I’m able to touch that deep place and receive the feeling of love, restoration and healing that makes me feel like the complete person I am meant to be and not the half person I thought I was. I am realizing I don’t need another person to make me feel whole. The more I improve myself the better my relationships will be. BETTER ME..BETTER WE!

This Woman Has Changed My Life
I found this podcast through a recommendation off Tik Tok! Last year I did some self searching and was in a terrible relationship that I knew wasn’t what I needed. I had no clue how to accept myself…how to love myself…or why I processed things how I did. I was searching for guidance and I found it! I had no clue I was a love addict! Shena broke down all of my symptoms and I was shook! I’ve literally listened to every last episode from day one until now, and I started in October!!! It’s worth it! YOU ARE WORTH IT! Do the work to forgive yourself! Take the leap of faith and don’t miss out on her tools and programs! Healing is hard to do alone, and her community has been very supportive through my process. There is never a right time to start.

Good podcast!
I found this podcast when I was going through a rough time and her topics relate a lot to my life. So, she’s extremely helpful and informative. The reason I give it three stars is because she smacks A LOT! It’s a personal pet peeve of mine so it’s easy to notice. It just makes it hard to listen to sometimes. I push through it though because I like what she talks about and her knowledge behind it.

Good until
The pod was ok for awhile and I’d also signed up for the accompanying text messages, that was a mistake. They were sometimes motivational even if trite, then there was the occasional marketing text trying to sell me on things. Last straw was the cryptic, short sighted text implicitly justifying Will Smith’s violence against another man in the name of protecting his wife from a joke. Nah, I’m good.

Sis has clearly read my journals!
All Shena’s podcasts are like a gut punch. Her words unfold parts of me I didn’t know were folded. She speaks straight to my heart. Her approach is that of a homegirl who just happens to be a therapist/life coach.~~~At 35 I have been THROUGH it in dating, love & relationships and while I knew I was “the common denominator”, I didn’t know how to fix it….or how to even pin point what the problem was but I knew a common thread was/is there. I’m soooo appreciative of you, Shena!

Podcast I Didn’t Know I Needed
I started listening to podcasts at the beginning do 2020. I added Black Girls Heal to my library but I hadn’t listened to an episode until today. I love it so much! I’ve been listening to Christian dating podcasts and sermons and I even go to therapy, but hearing someone who has been where I am (just being honest) is so refreshing. I didn’t realize how much my trauma and upbringing shaped my love life and this has opened my eyes. As a young black female doctor, people don’t understand how I didn’t have a sense of self worth or how I kept ending up in toxic relationships. Honestly, neither did I. Thank you Shena for this podcast and your transparency. You have a new faithful listener!

Um…you must be watching me or have an inside to my life as you are speaking so much of where I am right now…whoa!!! My only thing is I am not too sure of which one I am unless these are not to be boxes to be put into, but more so ideas of which to be aware? All in all, thank you for this episode! Excellent information and compassionate delivery but your still leaving some of us out.
This podcast has some really great information and I also love that you are giving practical, feet on the ground, real life actionable ideas and and tips for healing. You’re ability to hold us accountable in a compassionate manner is a welcome change from the messages that we receive and internalize in our culture. However, there remains one very important and pervasive topic in women’s lives that no one ever addresses. Menapause. There is little to no information out there about how to prepare and make space for the biggest change all of us as women will go through. It changes the way we are treated in our culture and how we feel about ourselves and it’s as huge as motherhood and more pervasive but no one understands it nor does anyone care. Nobody likes to talk about it so it comes as a complete and total surprise to most of us. It’s a transformative time of life that ought to be revered and held in high esteem. It requires you to make space for grieving who we were but there is no celebration of who we are becoming because no one has time for a bitter old black lady. So think about adding this to list of episodes to come even if it requires a special guest. It’s important and deserves a space in our lives and culture. Women who aren’t reproductively active are still worthy of love and attention and if we don’t do it nobody will.

Loveeee this podcast
I’ve been listening for a while but the love avoidance in dating episode is probably my favorite episode to date. Shena not only described me to a T but Shena also provided some beautiful tips on how to grow out of my love avoiding habits & how to take accountability for being the lover I am. I am attempting to date again after a long term relationship ended and I needed to hear this specific episode so I can learn how to receive love and give love when the right person comes along. Takes too long to get to topic
It’s really frustrating to click on an episode and have the first 10 or more minutes be promotions or chatter about something unrelated to the episode topic. By the time I’ve skipped to find where the actual topic begins, I’m turned off to the point where I don’t want to listen anymore. This is a complaint I’ve seen many others bring up, and I really think its detracting from the value of the podcast! I really hope this is amended in the future.

Amazing and transformative
I feel so lucky to be able to listen to this podcast. I’ve been going to therapy for over a year but always felt something was missing. I came across this podcast randomly and was hooked after hearing the episode on love addiction. The lengthy promotion can be annoying but it doesn’t deter me from listening to each episode multiple times. If I wasn’t saving for home downpayment I would def invest in the intensive recovery course. For now this podcast and monthly membership is helping me become more aware of habits and behaviors I didn’t know are unhealthy as well as add more context to my therapist for additional dialogue. Thanks so much Shena!

Amazing
Shena’s work has been such a help in my own recovery. Whenever I am hurting or falling back into old patterns and have a few days until I can talk about the hard feelings in my next therapy session, I listen to the Black Girls Heal podcast and always walk away after feeling more centered and hopeful for my recovery journey. Couldn’t recommend her work and words enough! Thank you, Shena!

My 2 cents
I came here looking for answers. I randomly selected an episode, #23, and began a binge lasting through episode #55, initially. At that point, I realized I was hooked! I started over from episode #1 and have now caught up to the most recent episode. I must say, I’m sad that I now have to wait until next week to hear more. I’ve learned so much about myself over the last two weeks (I listen while working)! I can see things much clearer and would love to enroll in the BGH Recovery School when open enrollment and finances permit, I NEED IT! LOL Thank you for this podcast, Shena.

Focus more on the topic
I love the content! It teaches me so much about myself that that I didn’t realize but please try to get to the point and sell your products at the end. We’re here for the topic not what you’re trying to sell, I get it could help us with growing but maybe save it for after the topic or make it shorter.

Listening to this podcast was such a transformative experience. It took my inner most thoughts and plastered them for the collective. I sent it to everyone I knew!! I cannot thank you enough for the perspective given in all episodes but this one hit right at home.

Gratitude
Thank you for shedding light on the dark places us as black women shy away from and are ashamed to talk about. We are breaking the “strong black woman” pressure built stereotype. Knowing that in our weakness we still deserve love and support, knowing that strength comes from confronting our weakness.

I listened to 4 of these and each one spent a lot of time discussing promotions or things they are selling and less about the topic at hand. These podcasts are 70 percent that and 30 percent the topic.

The Podcast I Never Knew I Needed
This podcast series popped up in my suggestion for podcasts at the right time. Over the past few months, I have been working on healing from rooted childhood & relational trauma, and also attending therapy. This podcast is so good that it felt like I was in a therapy session with my real therapist! Very helpful and I am so grateful I came across it. Keep up the great content because you are definitely helping us women heal. 💕

Nice but....
I want to like this podcast but I feel like you talk more about what you’re selling then whatever topic you’re suppose to be talking about. For example, the “You have the Power” episode was more about your program then the topic. That irritated me because I was looking forward to hearing something that’ll boost my day.

Being Loved vs Being Spoiled
I am deeply grateful for your episode on the need to be loved, that it’s not being spoiled. It made me sad that a mom really believed she could be too kind to her daughter. As a child, my father was abandoning and abusive to me. I had years of healing to do. My journey to healing included my commitment to doing better by my daughter; and I’m pleased to say I did. ♥️ Thank you!

I agree with Twerkswell
I agree with another reviewer by the name of Twerkswell bc the content is good but extremely minimal and mostly just selling products or talking about things that I kinda don’t care about. When I seek information about false intimacy, for example, I’m focused on that topic and don’t want the podcast to be 12 minutes about other stuff that I’m not going to purchase. I feel like that could be saved for an Instagram or FB post. She could easily let ppl know to head over to her IG or FB if they wants updates or products related to the content shared in the episode.

Could be good but...
Shena spends more than half of the podcast rambling about her mental health products, which aren’t even available most of the time. She’s very tactless about feeling like you should spend your money to buy her “products”, almost like one of those shameless preachers during collection plate time, and loves telling you that you cannot heal yourself. When she finally does get to some content, it is good, but it’s only like 15minutes and she’s happy about that. It’s basically a podcast to sell her mental health programs, so you won’t get much healing from listening, which is what she wants, and that seems kind of exploitive.

Relatable Topics
The podcast is informative and have some take away and great topics. However on the episode I listen to the announcement and updates were 9 mins on a 25 min podcast. The continuous reference and plugs to outside programs take away from the existing show. Starting with the contents and offer promos and announcements at the end may make the show more enjoyable.

Thank you
I just want to say thank you. I love your podcast I’ve shared it with several of my black co workers. I live in the Middle East and there’s a real sense of loneliness that comes with living abroad even when it’s a choice we’ve made to move. It’s hard to find people we can talk to about any feelings we are having. It’s also hard to build healthily relationships when living in a transit system where people come and go. I’ve found your podcast very helpful it’s like going to therapy. Maybe you could do a retreat in Dubai or Abu Dhabi in the near future. There are so many sisters here that would Benefit from your advice on how to heal. Thank you again

Very insightful tips. I’m looking forward to catching up on all episodes and being open minded to my future appointments with my future therapist. 2019 is coming to an end but I’m beginning to feel anew because I finally mustered the courage to seek help from a therapist. WOW!
I’ve been in therapy for over a year and thankfully my therapist has got to the root of my issues but the healing has been incredibly slow because there was no real “roadmap” on HOW TO HEAL. I’m aware of my issues now but it’s been a true lonely journey of trial and error on healing. Sheena Tubbs podcast has been a blessing I never knew I needed. She has shed light on how DEEP your childhood/family dynamics affect ALL of your relationship and your LIFE. I CANT WAIT to sign up for her thrive program. She is truly a game changer and I am excited to continue my healing journey with her teachings. She is truly compassionate and transparent. Thank you Sheena. I am in tears, you are a true blessing.
