Teacher still learning
I am past 40, but I love how practical this podcast is. As I listen, I wish I would have had it while I was younger. Keep it up!

Great for Teens but Excellent for Parents too!
As I creep closer to 50 with a teenager, I have found I want to not only make changes in my own life but want to help my child even more than ever and want them to succeed in whatever he does as he grows closer to adulthood. In listening to the messages I feel I have learned so much that I can pass along to my child and help him more than before. Sublte changes Cynthia has suggested I feel will help my own life, resulting in less stress, but that will trickle down to my son as well. Thank You!

Timely, important topics based on real life situations
As a former school administrator, I know first hand how some extra help from someone who cares can make a difference in a young person’s life. Cynthia is that help because she speaks from the heart, and her own personal experiences, which are certain to resonate with many people regardless of age. Her topics are current, practical, and based on circumstances young people face every day in real life. As a current, practicing school guidance counselor, Cynthia understands what’s important to teens through her daily communications with them. Even though “Better Regulate Than Never” is geared towards youth, anyone who listens can benefit, no matter their age. Thanks for providing this valuable podcast.

- Better Regulate Than Never Mar 7 · 21m E 130 The 3 Mindsets that Worry Uses on UsThere were 3 main thoughts that we worry about and they cause a lot of uncomfortable feelings. The 3 main thoughts are: “If I make a mistake, I will be exposed as a fraud.” “If I make a mistake, I am ruined.” This is the Perfectionism mindset. “I will disappoint everyone.” “I am responsible for everyone’s feelings and safety.” This is the Over-Responsibility mindset. “I must be 100% certain.” “If I am not careful, bad things will happen.” This is the Intolerance of Uncertainty mindset. In this episode, I will talk about how these play out in our lives and the place where you can override this alert system in your brain. Remember, the fight, flight, freeze, and fawn response system doesn’t turn off. There is no switch for that, BUT we can turn down the volume on the alarms. You can keep doing the things you want to with the alarms going off. I will be offering "live, virtual" workshops starting THIS SATURDAY, March 11. Each Saturday, I will teach you a new tool or strategy to override worry and you can bring all your worries to the workshop and we can talk about them specifically. I can help you find a tool that will help you worry less. I want you to be able to make decisions that help you grow and expand your life! Register Here for the Workshops! - E 128 How Do You Become Unstoppable? With Derek T. FreemanThis year, I am introducing you to so many people that are doing amazing work in this world. Work that I want you to be a part of. Derek T. Freeman has written a book for teens about Building Unstoppable Self Confidence. He wrote it because he has lived experiences where he needed it, just like you! He moved at an important time in his life and really struggled with bullying at his new school, then he chased his dreams as a teenager and young adult, but had to change course a few times. How did he figure out what to do next? If you are a parent, this information and book will help you connect with your teen. Derek even offers a free parent resource as part of the book. If you are a teen, this book is an easy read and doesn't give you more work to do. It's just ideas for you to build your self confidence. Every young person tells me they need this! Derek T Freeman is the author of Building Unstoppable Self-Confidence for Teens. His work aims to inspire tweens, teens, parents, and families by providing motivational content and guiding them through the years that are often seen as the most challenging parts of both parenting and growing up. As a young teenager, Derek struggled with self-esteem, bullying, and fitting in. As a father, he has attended countless groups and school functions and, along the way, has realized just how common his school experiences are. He is determined to make the turbulent waters of adolescence easier to navigate for other young people. Derek is a musician by trade and toured the US for nine years after graduating high school, releasing six albums before the birth of his first child. He then moved into the restaurant business, managing a small team for over a decade. He has two daughters, aged 10 and 12, and a 13-year-old son. Derek was born and raised in New York and currently lives in Connecticut with his wife, three children, and two cats. I think I have always felt responsible for how other people feel. How crazy is that?! It might not be as crazy as it sounds. We have been taught by our parents and society that we are responsible for how others feel. - E 125 Regret is not Based on Truth!Every person has regrets, but I want to give you some relief from those regrets in this episode. Regret is based on stories we tell ourselves about what might have been or how a decision WOULD have turned out. We have no idea how things WOULD have turned out. We are torturing ourselves with a lie! This information shifted so many thoughts and stories I was telling myself. I hope it helps you as well.
