My Go-To Pod
I found BOP through a friend who recommended Olivia to me as style and travel inspiration. Listening this past year has reinvigorated my love for reading (I bought a kindle! I read regularly for the first time in years!) and has also recommended amazing brands to me. Olivia and Becca have great chemistry and are truly real every single week. I love the series on how to write a book ( despite this being something I never imagine myself doing). If you want to join two friends chatting about life in a relaxed, relatable way, this is the podcast for you!

I love this reading podcast, who knew?!
I started listening to this podcast a few months ago right before Grace left and Olivia joined. I’ve gotten into reading again over the past two years and I love this podcast listening to books, adding to my TBR list, and learning about the process of writing. I love both of the hosts though I relate to Olivia the most. Whether you’re an avid reader or just looking for some recommendations I higher recommend this podcast!

Update: Hoping for more lifestyle content! I’ve always skipped the book club episodes and now it seems to be all book / writing focus. Hoping we can have more casual convos and lifestyle episodes. Listening to this podcast is like listening to two longtime friends. Becca and Grace are a breath of fresh-air, and I look forward to the podcast each week! They’re fun and kind, and provide great content. From career advice to travel tips, there hasn’t been an episode I haven’t liked.

Can you go back to more lifestyle content?
This podcast is fantastic--great host, fun vibe, honest and transparent dialogue. I love Becca & Olivia so much and I've been listening to the podcast for quite a while (shout out to Grace too!). However, lately the show seems to be focusing most episodes on the ins and outs of writing/publishing a book. Is there a way to sprinkle more general lifestyle content in? Not everyone is in writing or publishing.

BoP is like hanging out with 2 of your smart, funny best friends who aren’t afraid to keep it real. I’ve been listening for years and the pod just keeps getting better! I only listen to the book episodes once I’ve already read the book itself, but the book content truly evergreen- listening to back episodes after finishing a book really enriches the experience. Inspiring!
This podcast is really special to me. Throughout my childhood, I was a voracious reader. As I got older, things got in the way and reading fell to the back burner. When I did try to read, I’d often pick the nonfiction choices that I felt like I “had” to read. I would get bored, get frustrated, and quit. Cue March 2020. I had been a listener of the podcast pre-pandemic, but Grace and Becca’s reviews and recs inspired me to try reading again. I had pretty isolated up until recently as I am a critical care nurse practitioner who cares almost exclusively for COVID and COVID lung transplant patients and I did not want to spread Covid to my circle of friends/family or my vulnerable patients. Reading has been a joyful and peaceful release during an otherwise depressing time. I now read several books a week. I love Becca and Grace’s simple advice of reading what you love! Thank you ladies for getting my back into reading during this difficult time in the world. ❤️

Bad on Paper is the light, fun podcast that’s a perfect antidote to daily stress. Two girlfriends talk about books, travel, food, skincare, childhood nostalgia and Instagram feeds that have caught their eye. They’ve done episodes that range from career Q&As to a bunch of ‘would you rather’ scenarios. I’ve been listening since November 2020 when one of my favorite writers was a guest, and I look forward to it every week. Bad on Paper is good on audio!

Recent disappointment
Long-time listener, love this podcast, but I felt compelled to share after the Casey Balsham episode. I thought the beginning portion with the trigger warning wasn’t handled very well and it didn’t sit right with me to hear “if you’re going to be triggered by this, see ya on the next one!” followed by a laugh. It just felt inappropriate and I wish that had been taken more seriously. Again, I am a huge fan and will continue to listen, but I wish that there was a little more sensitivity in that warning.

Please Pause on the Politics
I agree worg the reviews that this is a happy place to disconnect from the crazy world. Please, I beg, pause on the politics. While it’s apparent you don’t like trump, please know that half of your listeners are likely moderate, or heaven forbid republican. Not looking for a “fine, they don’t have to listen” response, but more I urge you to follow your “inclusive” ethos to understand that others may have differing views, and the world should be ok with that. I also urge you to watch something other than CNN. Maybe you’re not ready for Fox News, maybe CNBC, to see if Biden is really the predicted savior after the first 9 months of his presidency.

Mixed feelings
I really really want to love this podcast because I enjoy reading and I’m a fan of Grace’s blog content. Unfortunately I struggle with Grace’s voice, which has a lot of vocal fry and can sound baby-ish, as others have mentioned. I know she probably can’t help/change it at this point, but podcasts are 100% auditory - it’s a dealbreaker for me.

Bedding sponsor while speaking to bedding founder? Sloppy.
Generally enjoy the pod, was thrilled to hear Nell would be the guest this week. While I can sympathize with campaign timing and commitments to sponsors, I was shocked that Grace and Becca didn’t see an issue in advertising a bedding company via their sponsored content this week while speaking to the CEO of a bedding company… what a slap in the face. Treat your guests with some respect!

Nope
Phew okay. Graces voice is literal nails on a chalkboard. But what did it for me was when these hosts bashed where the crawdads sing and called it the worst book they’ve ever read. “I hated it so much” Yet they rate other books I won’t name 5 stars. Huh?? Crawdads is literal poetry. Also Elin hildebrand one of their beloved guests is extremely problematic, just google her!

Fun, but Sometimes Frustrating
I absolutely loved this podcast for a long time and was an OG listener when it was all/mostly books. I’ve loved how it’s evolved over the years and the guest episodes are especially phenomenal.I find the book recommendations to always be on point! I hesitate to leave my feedback though because, although the two women are always asking for reviews, Grace does not seem to take criticism well. Unfortunately I’m close to unsubscribing because I’m often frustrated by how little Grace seems to actually listen to/interact genuinely with the others involved—whether that’s her cohost Becca, or their guests. She either interrupts a speaker to go on her own tangent or simply responds with a lackluster, “Yes,” “Mmmm,” or “Okay.” I’m bummed about this because I’d love to keep listening to the guests and Becca in particular is a spectacular interviewer and conversationalist! This will probably be dismissed or explained away, but thought I’d leave the review in case others might find it helpful!

SO. MUCH. BABY VOICE
I was really excited to listen to this, I’d gotten a bunch of recommendations for it and usually love a good besties podcast. But they speak in these voices that are like a cross between Paris Hilton baby voice and Kim K vocal fry, and I kept getting totally distracted by how deeply grating the cadence was. Update: I look forward to listening to Becca and Grace every week. I love the projects they are involved in and share with their audience. I like how they respect their differences and how they have grown over the past few years. It’s a delight to listen to this pod especially over the long term. It’s like a date with my girlfriends every week. Thank you! I love listening to these lovely ladies. They have great insights, know what are the must read books, and great guests and natural conversations.

Up and down
Some episodes are pretty interesting and others are so painful. The most recent on what they were watching etc was a train wreck. Listening to Grace talk about a past sponsor (coke freestyle machine)and yet unable recall the name or truly describe it, made me delete BOP from my podcast lib.

Will no longer listen
I used to love this podcast but I can’t listen anymore after Grace and Becca irresponsibly gave Jackie, Grace’s “life coach,” a platform. The content was so shocking - negating therapy, speaking in complete woo woo, empty terms. I am training to be a LICENSED therapist and found the episode so problematic. Everyone can benefit from therapy, but the episode only further stigmatized it. I don’t understand how two women in their 30’s wouldn’t realize that this was not only unhelpful but potentially damaging to those listening. You are both better informed than that, or at least I thought you were. I’m glad the episode has been removed but I no longer want to support this pod.

Offensive and dangerous language re therapy
I have enjoyed this podcast in the past, but the most recent interview with a “life coach” who said that therapy was for people who were in a dark place and that life coaching was for “functioning people” was not only offensive, but also dangerous. Completely irresponsible to give this woman a platform. The hosts should have known better.

Disappointed in latest episode
I love this podcast, but I am incredibly disappointed in the latest episode. The way that the guest described therapy as for when you are in a very dark place and you need someone to pull you out while coaching is for “fully functioning humans” is incredibly inaccurate and further stigmatizes seeking help for mental health. Therapy is not just for when you are in a “very dark place” and fully functioning humans seek mental health services from therapists. So out of touch, truely unbelievable. I hope that this is not an indication of the direction the podcast is going.

Grace spends 25k on a life coach 🤮
Jackie charges $25,000 for 6 months of working with her. This episode is so privileged and out of touch with reality, I’m shocked how much Grace thinks this is at all relatable for her followers.

Makes working from home way better!
I’ve been working from home for almost a year because of COVID. While I enjoy the flexibility of being at home and working remote, I miss having conversations with or even just the presence of my coworkers throughout the day. I went back to the beginning of this podcast and have been listening to every episode throughout my day and I am obsessed! I love their energy, the wide range of topics they cover, the guests they have on the pod and how genuine they are! Even when the topics aren’t the most relatable to me, I like to hear different perspectives and feel like I learn something new every episode. I also feel like listening to them makes it feel like I’ve got girlfriends around chatting while I work so working from home doesn’t feel so lonely. I love this podcast and can’t wait for COVID to be over so they do more live shows!

It’s More Than A Bookclub!
I have listened to a dozen podcasts a week for years and I have never left a single review until now, because I have no constructive criticism and nothing but nice things to say about this podcast and its hosts (Grace Atwood and Becca Freeman). Both women are considerate, thoughtful, and well-spoken (no chaotic energy or off-the-cuff remarks) on a variety of topics. In addition to listening to every week’s episode and every month’s book club episode (without always reading the book), I follow both women on Instagram and they are extremely responsive to their comments and direct messages, which I extremely appreciate! Plus there is a reasonable number of ad breaks and I never feel the need to skip through the ads. Although age is somewhat irrelevant when listening to podcasts, I consider these two women to be older sisters or mentors who are pursuing their careers and meaningful female friendships. I suggest you start listening now!

Book recs, Career Dev, lifestyle and more!
I was never a big reader, because I’m slow and didn’t know what genres I’d like. Since I started listening to Bap on Paper I read a couple books a month! Then I discovered audiobooks through the library and listen to them while pruning the garden or as something to enjoy while working. My favorite genre now is thriller like Guest List and rom coms like One to Watch. Thank you for all your recommendations on books, career development, and lifestyle products. I love you Bad on Politics episodes and one of my favorites I revisit during performance reviews is how to negotiate wages. Thank your for sharing your recommendations and insight!

I was in a reading slump at the beginning of the pandemic and BOP saved me! Not only do they give stellar book reviews, but I feel like I am sitting around in the perfect book club when I am listening to BOP- there’s talk of books, but also lots of other must-listen to chatter- from the newest instagram obsessions, how to be financially savvy/independent (while also living in an adult sorority house with your BFFs) to so many other topics. In this time when we can’t gather together, I have suggested BOP to my close friends so we can share in the book recs together and also in the good company and conversations. Thanks Grace and Becca!

A Podcast Full of Lessons and Laughs
Okay. I’ll be honest. At first, when I listened to the podcast, the episode I picked was one in which Grace’s (I believe) weekly low was that her trip to Paris got cancelled. Obviously a significant issue, and one that I, too, would be devastated by, but at the time, I thought it was a bit tone deaf given everything else going on. I was thinking, “Really? You’re not getting to go to Paris and have to instead stay in your incredible apartment in the city? Come on.” I now realize how *terribly* mistaken I was to judge her on this one lament which she had every right to make. She wasn’t negating the struggles of others—that is a big lesson I’ve applied to my life—she was upset about something she had worked hard to pay for and was excited to do. I’m ashamed that was my first reaction. Now, I have been bingeing episodes nonstop, especially their guest interviews. Yes, their lives are literal goals, and sometimes feel unattainable or unrelatable. However, Grace and Becca make every effort to recognize their privilege, and you can tell that they are truly down to earth, kind-hearted people. They have worked SO hard to accomplish what they have, and that is admirable. Anyway, this is a fun podcast that also challenges you to see things in a new light (and it’s made me value myself more, quite honestly. I am worth investing in, and this podcast has helped me realize that your wellness and mental/emotional/physical/spiritual health is as important as advancing your career). Book lovers, this is for you. Career women, this is for you. College girls unsure of the direction of your life, this is for you. Women who want to expand their horizons and learn to have a voice for those who may not, this is for you.

A Podcast, Bookclub, and Best Friends
Wow, what ride this last year has been, for everyone. I feel so lucky to have had Becca and Grace by my side, or in my ear as the case may be, to take the time to step away from the horrors of the world around me and to hear something good and enlightening. These two charmers are inspiring, insightful and can always provide a good laugh. I’ve been an avid listener and fan of theirs for a long time, and I continue to be surprised by their stories. I feel like they’ve provided a community filled with love, strength and knowledge, in a time that we need all of these things the most. It’s such a wonderful thing to be able to tune in to their podcast and know that there are likeminded women, out there in the world. I can not recommend this podcast ENOUGH! It’s at the top of my list, and heart. My weeks always a little bit brighter when I listen to these wonderful ladies! Also, I have a weak spot for Tyrion! He’s like a power source all on his own. I love Bad on Paper. My love for reading is what initially drew me to listen to the podcast. But what I found is that, Becca and Grace are two extremely genuine people who deeply care for the world and it’s people. It’s my favorite podcast and I’ve also become the go-to book chooser for my book club because of all of their great book recommendations!

I absolutely LOVE listening to this podcast. I like that there’s a wide range of topics, they support small BIPOC business, and they’re just relatable! Their banter at the beginning makes me truly feel like I’m just listening to two of my friends chit chat and I love it! Can’t recommend enough 🤗

Such a treat every week
I have been listening to Bad on Paper throughout quarantine and it’s such a nice escape every week. I was in a bit of a reading rut before discovering this and it has helped me get back into a reading routine. Even when I don’t like the book it feels like sitting around with old friends.m each week. And I am often often influenced by the recommendations way more than my wallet likes.

About six months ago I came to the podcast for book discussions... but it ends up just being the typical influencer feel... talking about products soooo much. It’s fatiguing.

Reading and lifestyle perfection!
I started listening to Grace and Becca at the beginning of the pandemic. Participating in their book clubs helped reignite my old hobby of reading that I hadn’t done in 4-5 years due to graduate school and life. I not only love their book recommendations, but also their model of adult female friendship and lifestyle recommendations and fun as well.

Out Of Touch
They both complain a lot which is very tone deaf. All of their “problems” are incredibly white and it seems embarrassing to be talking about. They are rude to their followers on Instagram, complaining when people ask the same questions repeatedly. Call celebrities ugly....just.....very tone deaf and embarrassing. I’ve listened to 6 episodes, trying to give them chance after chance, but I just can’t hang with these incredibly privileged girls.

Maybe if I were rich?
I’ve followed both Becca and Grace for a while now. I listened to a few podcasts at the beginning of the year while commuting. I tried to listen to the recent episode when Becca interviewed Grace. It honestly was a bit insufferable. I didn’t remember them seeming so out of touch earlier this year, but it really comes through in the most recent episodes. Especially Grace. Maybe we’re just in different places in our lives, but I can’t relate to them and think they are way more privileged than they think they are. And the Olay sponsorship seems inauthentic for someone who regularly buys $400 face cream. Maybe if I were rich I’d enjoy their content more. They do seem nice, and their friendship seems genuine.

I always love listening to Grace and Becca! Especially since I’ve been working from home, it’s like having two best friends or coworkers to keep me company. I’m an avid reader, so I love hearing about what they’re reading and which books they recommend. My dream job is to become a fiction author and I am currently writing my first real novel. I find it so helpful to listen to their book reviews because it gives me great ideas to improve my own writing. Sometimes I imagine, what would Grace and Becca say about this character or plot twist? It’s great motivation to keep me writing! I also enjoy hearing about both of their jobs and what it’s really like to live in New York. They’re both incredibly fun, smart women that can talk about a wide range of topics and present them in an interesting, relatable way. Definitely worth a listen!! Thank you so much for always making fun episodes! You two are the best! :)

Long time listener and lover! You guys seemed a little unprepared for the last bad on politics ep and also pretty one sided! Totally promote raising awareness for what you believe in but at least acknowledge what your views are. All your politics eps are v left sided. You def aren’t interviewing people on both sides of the aisle but you also don’t speak openly on your podcast about politics so it’s a bit confusing. If you want to take a stand .. do it!! But don’t try to be appease everyone in your main eps and go left in the politics eps... pretty lame!

Carly epitomizes white privilege
Update: this is still one of my favorite podcasts but it’s disappointing to see Carly as a guest AGAIN when there are SO many interesting BIPOC voices or actual creators out there. She epitomizes everything frustrating about white privilege and I’m genuinely confused as to why they think we would want to listen to her drone on and on about her wedding and fiancé. Did I mention this is the second time she’s been on and the last episode, she spent so much of it talking about her ex?? In the context BLM and the global pandemic, it’s annoying to hear her complain about her privileged, wealthy, petty life. In the future I hope Grace and Becca can distinguish between bringing friends on as guests and actual guests of value.

An excuse to finally use my library card!
I love listening to these two talk about pretty much everything, but their description of books has me hooked. I have made a promise to myself to read more for fun. Every week they share amazing book recommendations, interviews with great guests, their highs/lows and other great topics etc. During this pandemic, they have been a bright spot.

I love listening to these two. I always learn something. It’s been so much fun to join their book club, too, although I don’t read every selection. I mostly just enjoy the experience of them talking about their lives.

The Cool Girls!
I look forward to listening to Becca and Grace every week; I feel so accomplished after listening to an episode. They’re such a great duo who are into everything I love; books, beauty, NYC, and etc. I love the seamless conversations; chock full of substance and girly chat; I feel like I’m literally at the table with them. I’ve learned so much from them; this is the only podcast I wake up to listen to while getting ready for work. And if I’m not done with the episode; I have them blaring through the speakers of my car-lol And my daughter loves the intro music.-😊 Bad On Paper is the master class for 30+ club.

Was hoping for a more thoughtful discussion for a book club
I found this pod after hearing the women guest spot on GGE and started with the book club pods of a few books I’d recently read. Their account and discussion of Verity, which I was excited to hear because of how crazy the story is and how many different interpretations there could be, was disorganized and shallow and they even acknowledged how dumb the convo was at the end so...? Will give it one more ep to see if it’s an anomaly...

Something to look forward to each week!
I have been listening to Bad on Paper for awhile and follow Grace and Becca on Instagram, and I really can’t recommend this podcast highly enough. I really look forward to hearing each episode every Wednesday and I’ve found this to be therapeutic especially during quarantine. I have found many good books from listening to the podcast (Verity, for example!) and also like to hear about Grace and Becca’s opinions/advice on life, especially as someone in my earlyish 20s. It’s the whole package of lifestyle/books/just will make you happy listening 😊

The Podcast you want (& should) to listen to daily!
Becca & Grace are basically your virtual best friends! Listening to them on a weekly basis is like catching up with your two best friends. They are so fun and down to earth. Even when discussing more difficult topics (i.e. how to ask for a raise!), they are honest, relatable, and have so much confidence. I have been binging all the episodes I’ve missed during Quarantine and can’t get enough!

Favorite podcast
Becca and Grace are delightful human beings. Authentic and down to earth. The variety of guests and topics are great. I always learn about a new-to-me skincare, beauty or lifestyle product that I can trust has been highly vetted by the hosts, prior to sharing their thoughts. One of the reasons that they are a delight for the ears is that you always feel better after listening. When they share their highs and lows it’s in a way that is incredibly uplifting; many of us are feeling the same ways. These ladies are smart and speak well, yet not stiff, always fun to listen to. They compliment each other because they have similar interests yet different preferences for a wide variety of books, retail, habits, etc. You get a true glimpse into their lives as 30-something entrepreneurs and New Yorkers. If I lived in Brooklyn I’d want to friends with both ladies.

The best kind of book club
I’m an avid reader & super introvert. I love reading because it helps me escape from the world. I’ve always wanted to join a book club to have recommendations and hear other people’s opinions, but I’ve never loved the idea of having to talk about the book myself. Bad on Paper is the perfect way to join a book club without having the pressure of having to socialize. I’m so glad to have “met” Becca & Grace!

Lovely Interviews!
I first started listening after following Grace’s blog/Insta. I’ve loved listening to these women through quarantine - been a great way to chill & get away from screens while I walk or cook. I love the interviews they do but have also enjoyed a passive book club opportunity. I recommend to all my friends & they love it, too!

Like sitting around chatting with your two best friends, this podcast is so so perfect! Covering everything from books to beauty and a few political episodes, this feels like the perfect podcast for a 20 or 30 something year old woman who is just trying to find the best self tanner or get educated on the best books for just about everything. I love listening to Grace and Becca and wish I was IRL friends with them!

A Must Listen for Book & Beauty Lovers!
I’m a HUGE fan! Listening to BOP is like having a lovely conversation with your best girlfriends. I always listen to it where I can easily take notes because I write down every book, Instagram handle, show, movie, podcast and beauty product recommendation they share. Many things I’ve come to love I’ve discovered through this podcast - especially books and beauty products! Becca and Grace are the kinda girls you would love to be friends with in real life - they’re genuine, smart, funny, and always discuss relevant and relatable topics for women. You won’t be disappointed! Keep up the amazing work and thanks for brightening up my Wednesday’s! :)

Consistently the best podcast!
After a period where many were not downloading as many podcasts, it was the complete opposite for me. I have walked more miles during the quarantine and I could not wait each for the next episode of Bad on Paper to come out. I would stop listening to other podcasts, but never this one! Fun, well-rounded listen!
I found Bad On Paper during quarantine and now have been listening to old episodes as well! Becca and Grace are a few years older than I am, but I thought they were my age (31). Everything they talk about is just so relatable for women of so many ages! I love that they discuss such a wide variety of topics, and have great guests for deep dives on interesting topics! (I found them after searching for any podcast episodes where Alyssa Mastromonacco was a guest, to fill my quarantine podcast list!) I now follow the ladies on Instagram, and they both have been outspoken about important issues going on in this country. I also love their focus on self care and health. They seem like lovely women, and I’m so to have found BOP!

A well curated mix of interesting interviews, beauty and fashion recommendations, culture commentary and BOOKS. The complimentary Facebook group is a good place to land for recommendations and community. They have scored leading celebs and some of my favorite episodes are the casual ones where they chat. Must listen are the salary negotiation and career ones. Ask for what you want and ask for more money. Fun and never preachy.
