Aviation Business Podcast
This is the aviation business podcast the podcast that equips your Aviation business to achieve a higher altitude. Now, here's your host Tim Bonnell.
Robert Schuller was quoted saying let your hopes not your hurts shape your future. Let your hopes. Not your hurts shape your future.
As we're recording this podcast episode 134 the aviation business podcast. The door is closing on 2024 met people that is a good thing and the door to 2021 is opening given the pandemic fall out the political environment many other factors many people this time of year are worried for your floor or even depressed As Leaders. We can't afford to be stuck in the negative. We must set a tone of Hope for those we lead as we enter the New Year Martin Luther King Jr. Said we must accept finite disappointment but never lose infinite hope so, how do we Embrace and communicate hope will the beginning of Hope is the mindset that things can and will be better in the future?
Are you can't have hope if you don't have a mindset that things can and will be better in the future. That is a simple decision to make if you can't make that decision, you're not going to be a very effective leader. Right? So having a hopeful mindset is key to moving forward as leader. And once you have a hopeful mindset, you should develop a sincere understanding of all the things that have gone well in your life and business despite all the challenges and the next is creatively develop a list of all the opportunities that are possible moving forward. Enver is always a great time to reflect on where you've been and where you can go in the future. So why not create a future filled with hope
A recent Psychology today article said that there are three traits that will destroy hope and their number one extreme thinking thinking that this always or never will happen if this everything's right or wrong or somebody's always a hero or a villain extreme thinking me being on the Polar Opposites of the reality or the future number two is a resignation right? I'm simply won't get better we talk about a fixed mindset, right? We need a growth mindset have hope that the office to fix my tat meaning we reached where we can we can do anything further. So resignation of Hope and future will destroy hope and then isolation when we're by ourselves. When were set apart from everything isolation will lead to a destruction of Hope the article went on to do list five ways that you can create hoping you can pursue the following number one is engagement the opposite of isolation being actively involved with others and growing and doing
Number two was Acts of service right altruism serving, others is a great way to instill Inspire. Hope in yourself in another's number three a mindfulness practice whether that's some sort of breathing activity, whether that's a scripture and prayer whatever that is free, but mindfulness practice and then finally determination right having red determination as we talked about that mindset that things can and will get better in a previous episode. I mentioned a quote from author and Pastor Tim Keller where he said you give to people the same very difficult job tell when she is making $1,000 for doing it tell the other she is making 1 million one will think the job is very hard and the second will find it much easier our belief about the future determines how we experience our present. We are hope based creatures write to someone doing something a task that believes $1000000 is the reward for doing it is going to have a different hopefield mindset and that same person who will I get
$1,000 for the same effort same effort different rewards. So it's Keller said our belief about the future determines how we experience our present. We are hope they creature. So what hopeful future can you set your sights on it is important as a leader to have the ability to help highlight and show a hopeful future not only for your own leadership, but for your team, hope read other important important rates right through the fruit of Hope Has traits of perseverance of motivation and resourcefulness among others author and Speaker. John Maxwell said where there is where there is no hope in the future. There is no power in the present. So hope is being able to see that there is light despite all the darkness it is when we only find the light that will be able to maneuver our way out of the darkness.
So for this upcoming year take your leadership to a higher altitude by being. Hope full.
